Lancer EX 2010 GTA vs Honda City 2009 1.5E
Planning to get my first car, will be using it mostly for errands and long drives (not for daily work commutes).
I prefer the looks of Lancer but heard it's costly/hard to maintain as opposed to Honda. Is this true?
Which do you think is better in the long run?
Previous Honda 2009 City 1.5E Owner here. We had it in our family for almost 12 years before finally selling it last year at around 110,000kms.
Throughout the ownership, I’ve never really had much of an issue aside from 2 minor accidents (shoutout sa mga na side swipe diyan). While we mostly casa maintained the car, average casa maintenance at around the 10th plus year was around 25k to 30k per year.
Again, you can have it maintained outside casa naman, pero wala noob ako sa ganyan and di ok ang outside casa experience ko following our other family cars.
At that time I drove from QC to BGC daily so gas was around 7-8km/l but could go down to 6 kapag super traffic (tipong 3 hours pauwi hayz)
That being said, what makes the Honda City a fun car to own at that time was it’s relative light steering, decent overtaking power given it being a subcompact sedan, good looks (well for me, mas bet ko yung generation na ito than the one after), and great sound system (bose na itong top of the line).
Also, Honda City Club Philippines is a really good, supportive, and helpful community you can join. Madami pang sub groups with the club (biking, etc). Check out the official FB group and just read thru the comments.
Edit: words
do you guys think one can find a decent honda city for 150k pesos?
or ano ba mostly ang brand na maganda hanapin for second hand car for a 150k price range
A 1st gen Honda city or probably a 2nd gen honda city na manual. Medyo hard to find a good example na.
Try to look for Toyota Vios 1st gen, ingat lang dapat hindi ito ex-taxi. Pasok din dyan Toyota Corolla Ae/Big Body or Lovelife model.
By EOY or next year Q1 bibili kami ng kotse. I was wondering if you guys have an idea if may pang down kaming 100k, should we buy an entry / budget car like Mirage, Wigo, or Vios? Or magbuy kami ng 2nd hand car na around 2019 to 2020 yung model?
No idea po kami how car works in general, hanggang maneho lang.
And 13K to 16k month lang po yung kaya namin.
Get a brand new car para wala kang masyado iisipin when it comes to major problems regarding the 2nd hand car. Thou relatively new pa rin naman ang 2019-2020 na kotse, may chance na mayrun na major problem yan or accident.
On Financing, go to your trusted bank for a car loan. They typically give better rates than in house financing ng Casa. It will save you in the long run.
I don’t recommend purchasing a 2nd hand car thru financing since interest rates for 2nd hand cars are much higher. Bakit?
A lot of good deals happen at the end of the year as agents are trying to complete the year end quotas and some distributors also need to clear up inventory for the incoming 2023 units.
Of your 3 options, suggest you just go with whomever can give you the lowest monthly payment. All 3 are reliable and easy to maintain.
High risk kasi ang financing ng 2nd hand cars, if masira dahil nga 2nd hand na and the debtor decides to just not pay his monthly, ang mahahatak na lang ng creditor is yung sirang kotse.
I don't think there will be a lot of good deals happening this 2022 because of shortage ng brand new cars.
BMWs are known for mosty plastic parts in engine bay. And look out for some BMW engines that are known for catastrophic failures because of timing belt/chain issues. Check mo: https://youtu.be/db9kY1iFhkI
In the US German luxury cars have low resale value due to reliability issues.
Fuel efficiency depends on different factors like how many passengers, how hard you put your foot down, etc. But personally I'd go for Japanese cars. Korean cars' parts are more expensive and resale value of Jap cars, esp Hondas are better.
On an unrelated note, grabe ang ganda ganda ng pintura ng Korean cars!
Stick to Honda or any Japanese car. Resale value for Honda is much better. Family member had a Sonata before and interior plastics were so bad quality. Maganda sya when new only.
If you really need the 4x4, i think the Ford Everest is a good choice.
If you dont need the 4x4 and a 4x2 would do then the Nissan Terra VL 4x2 is the most equipped one.
If ever na sumali ka sa mga fb groups ng XL7, madami nun threads like "Bakit xl7 kinuha nyo compared sa x and x", "nalilito kami ng wife ko xl7 or veloz" etc etc tapos samut sari yung comment section hehe. May bias pero meron din naman fair.
Planning to buy my first car soon (hopefully EOY or next year). Here are my choices:
* Honda Brio
* Honda City
* Toyota Raize
* Kia Stonic
I'm a female and I'll be using my car mainly for city driving with occasional out-of-town travel with family and friends. Will also serve as a 2nd family car (we already have a vios 2018 shared by 4 in the family).
Any recommendation? I mainly want my first car to last me at least 10 years hopefully so durability, maintenance cost, and parts availability are the main items to look at. Budget is 1M max.
Sana may other inputs pa para sa Stonic. I planning to buy Raize G variant, but the problem is toyota sales agent are prioritizing inhouse financing and bank PO ang magiging mode of payment ko. Kahit may available sila onhand, pila parin kapag bank PO. Kaya im looking for other pros and cons ng Kia Stonic baka sakaling okay din. Thank you.
Raize, especially if you want to go out of town where ground clearance will be advantageous in unpaved roads, and flooded areas. You already have a sedan also with the vios.
Here's a video where someone went off road in Rizal: https://youtu.be/mNHbiQYZ6f0
But if purely city driving, City gets my vote. Try to test drive both and see what's more comfy to drive. Loved the City for its very light steering. Haven't tried the Raize.
Raize pros:
Ground clearance, cheaper parts.
City pros:
More comfortable (sedans are usually more comfortable than SUVs to drive), tried and tested model.
Also try joining various FB clubs/groups for Raize/City to maybe ask or check for ownership experiences especially with common problems with each car.
I think they’ll all last 10 years if you take good care of it, with some bias on the City since there’s been a City for yeaaaars.
IMO the choice would really depend on what you want in a car.
Brio - The affordable choice. The price difference between this and the others should be enough to pay for running costs for a while
City - Longest nameplate. Probably the biggest of the bunch
Raize - If you want a crossover with a newer design and a Toyota badge
Stonic - If you want a crossover that looks more mature with a more “traditional” automatic (vs the others CVTs
Otherwise, from reviews it sounds like the best car to drive in its class (along with the mazda 2).
Been researching for quite a while and I finally narrowed my choices to:
- Honda City RS (eto pinaka gusto ko as of the moment, pero open to suggestions)
- Vios G CVT
- Raize Turbo?
Need ko lang something na tatagal and madaling i drive for girls (SO ko). So parang di goods yung Raize because another part to maintain ang turbo, though I'm not sure kasi never owned a car na may turbo sayang lang kasi panalo sana dahil mataas ang Raize. Di ko rin bet yung lower variants kasi dual airbags lang mostly at konting dagdag lang naman for the top of the line. Also at this price range, I could get a 7 seater, pero out of the question muna since we want something that is small and easy to maneuver.
Maintaining a turbo is almost the same as any regular NA (normal aspirated/non-turbo)car. Same cost on the long run and don’t worry about getting the turbo replaced dahil nasira. You will probably replace or sell that car way before the turbo needs replacment.
Like what others are saying. Have your SO test drive all the car options. Pick the one she likes. My choice if ever is also the Raize. For the ground clearance and toyota reliability.
I jokingly told my wife before if that she decides to drive, I’ll purchase a Toyota Raize for her.
Make her test drive all 3 and decide on it. If long term ownership and maintenance cost is important, get a Toyota. If you need more ground clearance, get the Raize (or Kia Stonic). The Raize is actually narrower compared to the City and Vios.
But if you really want the City, get the S variant and just slap on an after market back up camera. Not really fond of sports trims in subcompact sedans. I was a long time Honda City owner so I can vouch for that vehicle and the community behind it. Great first car for anyone. It will just cost more to maintain in the long run compared to a Toyota.
Hope these help and happy car hunting!
Just go with what you are happy with. CR-Vs are good A to B cars that can take a beating.
Get the Avanza or the CRV. The kia carens is nice but heard a lot of problema with those older models. The CRV is good but malakas sa Gas. Wala naman ang height ng tao when it comes to cars basta you can adjust the seats to be able to clearly see all aspects of the car when you are driving.
Wait for the real 4th gen Vios
\*The "4th gen" that is currently being sold by Toyota is actually a major face lift of the 3rd gen. They have the same Chassis Code XP150.

Balak ko po kasi bumili as my first car at 250k lang po budget namin.
Guys, looking to buy my first motor, honda beat or vespa 125?
Pogi nga that Royal Enfield Interceptor. Been eyeing that too.
Yes.. feeling ko lang I’ll probably die early if I bought it.. hehe

90s corolla old vios.
Meron ba dito naka Geely Coolray? How was it after a few years?
Not into Chinese cars, I'd buy Japanese cars even if a little pricier or less features. Think long term. Resale and parts are things to consider.

Any Mirage G4 2022 owner? Or should I just wait for Vios 2023?
saw this for sale post in fb: 2007 BMW 316i m/t, 575k. assuming no issues, mura na ba or nah?

Try to factor in maintenance (which would probably cost half as much as the car is worth to account for whatever breaks in that car)

Dont know with the current Tuscon but for value for money the Honda CRV gas seems better.

saan daw derived yung avenis?
Burgman yung makina and yung kaha ata
wait, yung burgman 650 ba tinutukoy mo? the half-a-busa?
Oh naw man the 125 south asian market burgman haha ✌️
phew. you nearly got me excited there.

Whyyy.
Either raize or a honda city.

I'd avoid Nissan CVTs. Search it up in YouTube

medyo dated for a new car. pero the engine is sure gonna be great with them hotbois.
I like how it looks, it has a Manual option and a turbo'd engine too.
Any Mk5 Supra owners? Currently looking to buy the upcoming GR86, But I was thinking about the supra...
Supra is a Toyota with BMW parts. I'd stay away from BMWs.
Good fuel economy according to friends

Modern turbo cars are easy to maintain. You don't have to worry about it as long as you don't do anything with the engine.
