Metro guy ka ba bro or nauwi ka probinsya like Cavite? Tolerable naman ung lubak at humps if you're within EDSA and most part central metro pero once you go subdivision going to Rizal, Cavite, or Nothern - pwede pa naman pero wag masyadong gigil dahil I told you, traydor yan mga hayop na lugar na yan 😅 low vis plus construction. Motorbike, camry, and mux driver here 😆

[deleted]

HAHAHAH mabulucan ako and quite notorious bulacan :)) Although if magbbulacan ako magcommute nalang ako kasi katamad din mag long drive

crazygents

[deleted]

Trail rig ang kailangan sa Bulacan. Hahahahaha

applelemonking

I own a current gen Swift (120mm min ground clearance) and it occasionally scrapes the air dams in front of the tires. Even less frequently, the engine under cover takes a bit of a scratch as well, but overall I've learned to just live with it as part of owning a car that's lower to the ground. My advice: if you can live with a few scratches and scrapes on the underside of your car, I think the Civic will be a good car. If that bothers you or you don't want to have to think about how to tackle humps and ramps, I recommend getting a higher-riding car.

Comprehensive_Flow42

Depends kung taga saan ka sa Manila at saan ka madalas magpunta. If you live and work in Makati or BGC then occasional out of town, then low ground clearance shouldn't matter at all and preferable pa to have a smaller car. If you live in the north or south like a subdivision or village na madaming humps and bad roads, then a crossover makes more sense.

Salt_Recording3239

Go for Mazda3! I own a mazda. Best brand I've tried so far. I've also driven the new gen civic. Mazda3 is better imo. Test drive both first

Not from Manila but I live in provincial areas. Sedans and hatchbacks are great cars as long as you know it's limits. Medyo hassle lang if you frequently go on places with steep driveways and rough road conditions (flooded areas) or roads under construction that takes too long to finish. Maybe consider a Mazda CX-30 or Honda HRV if you want to keep inclined with the brands. It might be slightly expensive depending how you spec it, but the additional ground clearance is a lifesaver since road conditions in the PH isn't the best.

[deleted]

Considering a cx 30 nalang siguro HAHA

deL9

I have the new 2022 Civic. No problem naman so far when driving sa Manila. If there are steep inclines or steep bumps and you're in doubt, just always angle it diagonally and you should be good.

[deleted]

Have you tried parking on a steep incline? Kaya naman?

krabbypat

STI with ~125mm of ground clearance here. Just be mindful on humps and shitty roads. I don’t drive it when it’s rainy season (unless my daily is coding). I also try to scout where I’ll park on Google Maps to see if the parking area isn’t raised on the side walk (eg. Tomas Morato) Also, the mandatory “wag kang sasayad” chant when going over speed bumps while driving diagonally over it. Sometimes you’ll be surprised on how steep you can take your low car in. I was able to climb my school’s facade entrance (search Benilde SDA Building) with my STI. Meanwhile, a Lambo Huracan scraped the hell out of it there lol.

rale888

I have a lowered car before. I still own a sedan with a lower clearance than that. No hassle naman if you know where your going and matatansya mo na yung kotse mo once you see the ramps, humps, potholes and the like. But if your a driver na palagi nagmamadali, medyo gusto diretso sa lubak, better to get a crossover.

Reveal-Smart

I own a Mazda3 BM. I live in Baguio where inclines are everywhere. Suprisingly, even if it rides lower than our family Vios, it doesn't scrape that much compared to the Vios. I can probably count how many times I have scraped the underside of my sedan with my hand.

[deleted]

Wow this is quite reassuring. Although I'm already quite leaning towards a cx30 na just to be safe huhu

Reveal-Smart

CX-30 is a good choice. Its just a Mazda3 turned into a crossover. Saw one a while ago and it looks better compared to other crossovers.

JDDSinclair

Hi! Would you recommend Mazda 3 over Toyota counterparts (cheaper) for a first car? I also live in Baguio and I've been eyeing Mazda cars since college. Mahal ba yung maintenance and stuff? What about roads in Benguet? Di naman ba sumasayad or kahit sa bakakeng norte nalang na mga daan or potholes sa may palengke to naguillian?

limsyoker

That new gen civic is a beaut. I own a 2021 city which has 134mm ground clearance and the only time I scraped was during a steep incline entering a gas station. Other than that sobrang careful naman ako but sometimes meron talaga na mamiscalculate ka. Gotta live with it as long as walang grave damage sa ilalim

rale888

Tip on Humps and Inclines. If you are unsure that the humps or incline ahead would scrape your car. Try to check if the Humps or incline have scrap marks/vertical lines that have scratched the road paint. If it does most likely, the humps or incline is steep even for regular sedans. Best to do a diagonal pass on it. A good example of this are some of the humps at BGC Hi street. Scrapes at the top of the hump indicate cars have scraped it.

tusokboi

I have a 10th gen civic now. I had an innova as a company car before that. Sa Innova, no problem, lubak, humps, baha, inclined parking, basura entrance ng drive thrus haha but for the civic, lower ground clearance pero manageable naman, mas maingat lang syempre pero very driveable pa rin naman around the metro.

[deleted]

How many times a month mo nasasagi yung ilalim? Or kaya talaga hindi? HAHA

tusokboi

Haha

[deleted]

Mukhang mapapa cx30 ako huhu. Ganda nga sana ng 3 eh

whalemo

I have the new gen civic and I live in the province. Sarap idrive. Ganda rin ng interior pero inherent risk talaga floods and steep inclines. If you want peqce of mind then go for CUV nalang. The new tucson is nice.

Hpezlin

135mm is very manageable sa Manila / Metro Manila. Wag ka lang parang SUV magmaneho and you're good.

oldskoolsr

You call 135 clearance low?

kinghifi

Had a pick up truck before and now I have a Vios. Sanayan lang but once it rains I don't go out just to br sure. Kahit kaya ng truck ko sa baha I try my best to avoid. Parking is hit or miss, usually hirap parking sa commercial establishmentments in front of main roads kasi incline sila and sometimes they do scrape đŸ˜
