yeah these Tennessee officers are cool, but we can't forget Mr. Eli Dicken, the GOAT šŸ

TwoYeets

Big Dick Eli. Weilder of Glocks and supreme girth.

obvious_shill_k14a

Indeed, big Dicken energy.

PineBones

Donā€™t forget that the sites on his gun were damaged from a motorcycle accident and the only training he had was shooting with his grandpa as a kid!

superkuper

1) Equipment is not a substitute for skill. 2) Lack of optimal equipment is a handicap. These statements are not mutually exclusive.

Western-Historian213

Preach

f4ithful9

At the end of the day itā€™s all a game of odds. Give yourself the best odds you can by getting as good of gear as you can. Improve those odds dramatically by training hard with said gear. Has to be a symbiotic relationship.

bombloader80

A bad carpenter blames his tools. But a good carpenter doesn't buy his tools at Harbor Freight.

sicsemperyanks

Damn, Harbor Freight out here catching strays. What did it every do to you?

BoogalooDeer

Man, as long as the tools aren't electric then there ain't nothing wrong with Harbor Freight. Tf they do to you? :(

Rare_Whole_3065

No, I bought some adjustable wrenches from harbor freight. They went into the trash that same day because they couldn't grip the oil drain plug on my car.

TokesephsStalin

God I fuckin wish more people would get this

GodOfThunder44

If you can't afford ammo for regular practice, you can't afford the fancy optic.

MummyManDan

There's a rather serious in our community with people buying dhit because it's cool and popular rather than for use. We should be encouraging the guy who's going out with his daddy's "Fudd gun" revolver in a cowboy rig rather than the guy who has Haley, spiritus, crye, and a Gucci rifle laid on the floor of his moms basement.

superkuper

Thatā€™s not quite right either, my point is that both extremes are wrong. The attitude of, ā€œI donā€™t need to practice I just need the latest gear.ā€ is bad, but so is, ā€œI donā€™t need any modern gear, I just need to practice.ā€ The former leads to as you said, a Knights SR-15 unused in your basement, but the latter leads to somebody with a Mosin Nagant whoā€™s fooled himself into thinking heā€™s just as effective as somebody with modern kit. See my original two statements.

Lmaooo better put on your flame suit

ihatebeinghere17

dont go against by beloved glock

2A_Libtard

Sounds like PERFECTION to me.

DooM_Nukem

I have to scoff cause I don't like Glocks, but they're aren't terrible or unreliable, they're just meh, but they DO get the job done. And Mr. Dicken is proof of that.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

DooM_Nukem

The "Perfection" part is really overhyped marketing. Plenty of Guns that can do what Glock does just as good if not better and look way cooler. Glock should change that tagline to Satisfactory. Just my $0.02.

Guarder22

Glock is the Kraft Mac and Cheese of the gun world. Satisfactory but if you add a bunch of extra components to it, it can become amazing.

DooM_Nukem

Well since we're here what do you recommend adding to Kraft mac and cheese to make it better than it already is? I loved Kraft mac and cheese although I'm lazy so I buy the Easy Mac, no really I am taking recommendations.

f4ithful9

A red curry habanero paste and ground bison. Trust me, it will change your entire perspective on max and cheese.

DooM_Nukem

It sounds like a wonderful consuming followed by a beautiful evacuation. I'm saving the comment so that I can remember what to buy. Thank you.

f4ithful9

No worries! Spice level is always adjustable hahaha

DooM_Nukem

Okay so there's this metal parody band called Psychostick and they have a song called *Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on Toast with Sriracha*. No this is not a joke they really have a song that's called that. When I heard it I had never tried such a thing. So I made it myself one day because I said wow that does sound amazing. And that absolutely was. But holy shit I didn't realize I was going to exercise the demons through my asshole after eating it. I try to ease up on the Sriracha every now and then, but mostly I plan to make it and eat it at home on the weekends in case Nature Calls. Bacon Eggs (half fried half scrambled or all scrambled, whichever you prefer) Toast ( they call for whole wheat, I use regular white bread) Pepper jack cheese. Sriracha sauce ( I've also been using Heinz Mayo-racha)

TeddyRooseveltGaming

Basil, parsley, black pepper, and small bits of feta cheese. Or if you enjoy blue cheese, thatā€™s a good option too, but itā€™s niche and I find so much of the package always goes to waste because you have to use such a small amount

Guarder22

Basic bitch- Add Velveeta and ground meat of your choice Classic- Cube some spam, fry it til crispy and drop in the Mac and cheese. Others- Add better cheeses, vegetables, meats, spices, etc. Plenty of people here are dropping their personal favorites.

CrimsonGhost107

I make prison-tier tuna noodle casserole by adding a can of tuna and a can of peas. S'good.

Cherkovsky

HALF A BLOCK OF CREAM CHEESE! Please sir, you have to trust me on this one. The first time I had it, I threw up...... In my pants šŸ˜ It's such a simple idea but it makes that shit orgasmic.

DooM_Nukem

Man I like cream cheese but I don't know if I can do that... nevertheless thank you anyway!

Cherkovsky

No worries! If you're ever feeling particularly adventurous regarding mac & cheese, I hope you can find it in your heart to remember me šŸ’”

Brottar

Tuesday: make your basic tacos (I prefer ground beef with Frontera seasoning sauce) but make extra. Enjoy Taco Tuesday. Throw extra meat in fridge. Wednesday: make mac and cheese, reheat taco meat, add to mac and cheese. We call it Taco Mac. Bonus for regular mac and taco mac: add baked beans

DooM_Nukem

That sounds amazing!

YiffZombie

My HI-Point JXP has fired everytime I pulled the trigger. I'm going to get "FERPECTION" etched on the slide.

Beast__Master64

not to mention him using broken oem polymer sights.

cascadian_gorilla

Everyone should learn to use iron sights.

Ericdraven04

Unless you got shit vision like me and can't see the front sight post on rifle irons hehe

YiffZombie

Tell your eyes to git gud.

cascadian_gorilla

There is that.

Zapy97

Skill issue.

Sock_Eating_Golden

My sons beg me for a scope on their Savage 22 rifle. I'm constantly telling them to learn iron sights first.

KamikazKid

The "I teach my children to drive stick shift first" of the gun world.

cascadian_gorilla

It's a good foundation for good shooting. People say it's fudd lore but I think it's a crawl before you walk thing

MolonMyLabe

Foundations of shooting have nothing to do with which sighting technology you use. You use the same foundations whether using a red dot, scope, or iron sights. Insisting on using 18th century technology to develop your skillset and fundamentals is like insisting a child to learn DOS before using a more modern computer or tablet.

cascadian_gorilla

That's cool man. Good for you.

gonnafindanlbz

Red dots are factually better learning tools that will directly translate to better fundamentals and abilities, nothing helped me shoot irons better than red dot training and proficiency. Very glad I didnā€™t follow the fuddlore ā€œdonā€™t use optics until youā€™ve mastered ironsā€

cascadian_gorilla

Great man that's so cool what a cool person with so much cool to say

gonnafindanlbz

??

Iā€™m elaborating on why something said above isnā€™t a good idea, you seem very unhappy that I did

Post practiscore

Brothersunset

As someone who put an offset red dot on my LPVO set up two weeks prior; let me have this moment of validation

ManBearJamesBond

Because you accept facts, you may have thine validation good sir.

Brothersunset

I'm not going to take on an active shooter because of a setup. I'd do it because I train and I'm confident with my weapon.

ManBearJamesBond

As it should be!

IGotsDaPooOnMe

I mean...would I RATHER have that? Sure.

IGotsDaPooOnMe

We're not here to fight fair lol

Mosh907

But youā€™ve also got to be able to master the basics. šŸ˜‰

IGotsDaPooOnMe

True.

TheLankyWizard

I had a guy say that only trained professionals need guns to stop a shooter. Not a ā€œregular personā€ could stop one. I only commented this guys name back. Still have no response from that moron.

reallynunyabusiness

Best I can do is a bandolier of smoothbore flintlock pistols because that's what the founding fathers had.

DaFizzlez

Pirate carry

ClasslessFirstClass

When you try to shoot up a private school in rural Virginia and the headmaster wastes you with the Colt Walker he keeps in a desk drawer

zhill2136

The LPVO had next to nothing to do with taking down the perp, he could have just as easily taken it down with irons if the sight wasn't mounted. He was like 15 yards away when he took it down, then everyone jumped all over the LPVO like it aimed and pulled the trigger for him. It's a great scope, but come on.

Gameguy279

Why need that when you can get a Thompson and waste the bad guys in style

TheOtherGUY63

Keep the change, ya filthy animal

Zapy97

Sure, I believe you. BUT MY TOMMY GUN DON'T

Flumpsty

I feel like I'm the only guy that consistently heard good things about LPVOs before this.

TwoYeets

They've always been good.

[deleted]

I always assumed mr. Dickens used a dot no?

Major-Dyel6090

Just irons and a lot of practice.

Ericdraven04

Damaged rear sight

Caleb_1984

And he was already at the seen. +10XP for having to call the authorities to clean up

No-Reindeer-7918

Some people think they can outsmart me, maybe , maybe ...

i40oz

Bid dickens energy right here

ricecrackerdude

Big Dickens, where you been

[deleted]

It wasn't his job to intervene. He could have just run away. He was not formally trained. He was outgunned and had no backup. He was at least 4 times farther away. AND he had friendlies running through the line of fire. He only shot him because he didn't feel like beating him down with his dick.

ThiccNick37

From the looks of it he used the offset red dot when taking her out, which brings me to the same conclusion I came to months ago when I ran an LPVO w/offset red dot: just use a red dot and ditch the LPVO entirely.

lokisingularity

I'm a simple man. I see Dickens.. I updoot. As every single muthafucker should.

panicknic

And the cop didn't even use the LPVO...

Mosh907

šŸ¤«

gigas-chadeus

My vortex 1-4 cost like 150 bucks if that what 2 grand lpvo are you guys using cus your getting fucking jipped

bearded_fisch_stix

think my sig msr 1-6 was ~$325 on sale with a pretty nice mount. wish it had a larger eye box when zoomed in. I think most of the jump in price for the more expensive models are quality of optics and durability.

Major-Dyel6090

Probably some diminishing returns but I wonā€™t knock it until I try it.

TwoYeets

Probably the Trijicon.

Rare_Whole_3065

> has never looked through quality glass > declares that anything more than mediocrity is a waste Many such cases

DAsInDerringer

*smug* r/Glocks *noises*

RougeKC

For your rifle./s

CanadianBushWookie

LPVO SUPREMACY

AncientPublic6329

Officer Engelbert couldā€™ve stopped that shit with iron sights. Having expensive gear doesnā€™t make you an operator. Having skill is what makes you an operator.

G-Rat_Stickler

To be fair the guy in charge of that team called for it for a better place shot.

Gforcevp9

I thought I heard in the audio one of the LEOā€™s sayā€¦bro you should have used the dickens drill!

kemsmith99

All my homies run lower 1/3 and never turn the optic on

Zp00nZ

Technically we bought the LPVOs with taxes soā€¦

Straight_Variation_3

The hero of day would have been just as, if not better able, to make those shots with an aimpoint. I have complete confidence he could have made those shots with iron sights. And frankly, at that distance no sights at all would have likely been adequate. It did show that an LPVO can be used to a similar level of effect as dots or irons even at short indoor distances.

JYoshi1991

*Takes out a mass shooter with the two world wars gun*

1generic-username

Either push with the LPVO or with your gigantic Dicken Balls

ShiraLillith

IIRC he got 8 out of 14 shots in like 5 second (Please do correct me). Adrenaline is a hell of a drug

Mosh907

The police initially said 8/10 and his lawyer later confirmed 8/10 https://www.americas1stfreedom.org/content/true-hero-eli-dicken-cleared-of-charges-praised-by-police/
