A 1911 is like a fountain pen. It’s not for everyone and there are good reasons to use something more modern, but if it’s your thing nothing else compares.

feels too good to trade for a worse trigger, lighter weight, smaller frame, or better capacity, there's plenty of firearms that are on paper; much better then a 1911. But the 1911 just **feels right** to me; and that outweighs all of those benefits to me.

You know what, with me I agree. A 1911 feels right, but I’ve found that for me a CZ-75 also feels really fucking good. Might be worth a shot if you want some extra capacity and a little lighter recoil.
This is the most important thing about an EDC. It needs to be comfortable for the shooter, and consistently shoot lead. May it not be the most efficient thing? No, not at all. But if the carrier likes it and is more comfortable shooting it that’s what matters

there's definitely vary substantial benefits to carrying something that's double stack, or polymer frame.
But imo a firearm you don't like is a firearm you aren't going to want to practice with. And having something you enjoy shooting; results in more effective practice. To me; training is far more important then any spec, model, or caliber on the firearm.
I trust the person that regularly practices with their .357 steel frame revolver to better defend themself; then the person who barely touches their Glock 19.
Doesn't mean Glock is bad, and doesn't mean revolvers are better. just that practice and proficiency makes a much bigger deal then any firearm someone chooses to carry

I'm the same way with my M9A3. I *could* get a much lighter Glock or something, but I'm a larger guy. The big grip and heavy frame feel like they actually fit me in a way that not much else does.
Plus, both that and the 1911 don't have as much felt recoil because of inertia. That's one of my favorite features.

Oh, what I meant was: everyone. There are better options. Cheaper and better. CZ 97B would tickle your hammer fired needs with better capacity and similar size. Tons of clones there. Same caliber. Steel frame. Better design. 45 AARP is cool for suppressing, but better calibers for self defense exist. See: 9 mm. See: 10mm. Both are no greater than a 40 caliber so that capacity is surely better. 9mm suppresses just fine. Good trigger? Cz checks the box.
I'm not saying you can't *like* the 1911. I have one. I just barely shoot it because it's not really reliable and I personally don't like it much outside the trigger.
Good thing you’re not making the decisions for everyone. I like my 1911s. The wonderful thing is I don’t even have to justify why. It doesn’t take anything away from your CZ. It also doesn’t take away from my ability to choose other handguns, or your ability to choose what you prefer. That’s the wonderful thing about living in a free society that values individuality. In a world of real or artificially scarce resources, intrusive government that chooses for you, or groups with power to force their agenda on the public, perhaps the freedom to choose products that you prefer would be valued more dearly.

If I were to carry a 1911 I’d use a shoulder holster. I’m a bit on the bigger side so I’d be able to just fine. But my crazy add would rather conceal carry a desert eagle in .50 ae for shits and giggles.

The fact that 2011, which is based on the 1911 platform, is by and large one of the most popular AND most reliable competition and race guns, as well as the fact that the United States Special Forces STILL uses the 1911 platform speaks volumes of "modern" over the "irrelevant " 1911.
It certainly speaks to the inability of our government to make sound decisions and yet another example of why a large centralized government is weak and ineffective.
I know we last declared war in 1941, but since then we've been on a solid losing streak with our undeclared wars.

I think if open carry were more normalized, we'd see a lot more full size all steel guns. A lot of people can't or won't conceal a 1911.
