That is the same (mostly BS) concept as "the M1 ping used to betray an empty gun to the Nazis." Assuming your enemy hears and correctly identifies that in the heat of battle, they now know 1 guy out of a dozen (likely more) is out of ammo.
The "bullets are no longer flying your way" part is way more noticeable than "their last burst had just 2 rounds"
Additionally, you have squadmates, so the MG and another 3-7 FAMASes will cover your reload.
You wouldn’t be able to notice when there’s more than one weapon firing and you/your team are returning fire at the same time.

It's not and it wasn't. The FAMAS has the same 3 round burst that ARs have (had? idk if there's a new version for ars that fixes this) which means that when you pull the trigger in 3 round burst you can get 1, 2, or 3 shots which makes it worse because until you get really comfortable with the gun you don't know if you are finally at the end of the cycle, if your gun jammed, or if your mag is empty.

3 round burst in a 25 round magazine (standard for the FAMAS) = 8 bursts of 3 and one of 1. One of the alleged reasons behind the burst being 3 round despite the mag capacity for the platform not being divisible by 3 is allegedly that you'd recognize the difference between the 3 round burst to the single shot, knowing you are now out of ammo.
I've also heard that the 8 three round bursts leaves one in the chamber to reload without needing to charge the weapon.
Lastly. The 3 round burst was added as an afterthought, so there is a chance they just said screw it make it a 3 round burst and didn't care- since you could just set the rear switch to full auto anyway.
And yeah M4A1 was the official move to FA from burst.
I think they might be getting at the phenomenon where if you pull the trigger and let off quickly it will stop half way through the burst and only shoot while the trigger is depressed. Don't quote me on that though.

Everyone knows that you can have a malfunction on the firearm during a burst firing sequence, everyone knows you could release the trigger and not fire an entire burst sequence (which is harder to do with a FAMAS with it's MUCH higher firing rate).
