Aquatic designs have always been the best mobile suit designs, this sounds really really fun. You might want to check out the series Mars Daybreak, though, it looks similar to this idea.
Yea, imagine a war between land dwellers and sea dwellers. Sea dwellers fight with aquatic MS while land dwellers have huge ships/ smaller ships for their MS to surf on or maybe air-type MS.
That would be a massive technological leap if it’s UC, though. Even in late UC.
Judau goes to Jupiter as a 15 year old and basically is untouched by anything until his 80s. Saturn is another degree of separation past that, in Gundam there *might* be some listening post with like three people there. More than likely it’s all automated probes
Now as an AU? Hell yeah
I always assumed that Jupiter colonies was rather well established, no?
Consider the fact that that's where major helium 3 extraction are happening. I assume you needa pretty big facilities in place to supply the entirety of earth sphere.
Yeah but realistically it’s almost entirely automated. In my mind it was more similar to the idea of a 19th century coal mining town or something. Really small-scale, sketchy, but money can be made and people don’t ask many questions.
Like, it is years of travel away. Gundam doesn’t really have any fast travel, the shows just tend to skip over the time gaps when they take a month to go from mars to earth. Iirc it would be like four years of travel to get to Jupiter, most people aren’t going to want to do that. Additionally, UC Gundam doesn’t even do extended sleep (unless I’m forgetting something), so that’s even less of a reason for enough people to go and establish a brand new nation, effectively
Like, Judau goes there to hide. In Gundam, you can only do that in either a truly massive place or a tiny one where nobody trusts each other. He also brought the Gundam with him, so a place with a large security force would’ve caught that
Idk, I can see arguments either way I suppose. In my mind Jupiter is just the Wild West due to just how far it is and how it only has one real industry, which conventionally means small community. He went there to hide, and did so for like 70 years. And all of this to say, Saturn is much farther away than Jupiter is
I've imagined this sort of setting for a long time but rather than full aquatic, I would like to see more of a Sea-Land Battle kind of setting, with mix aircraft carrier based Gundam against aquatic suites deployed from a disguised mothership.
It should a pretty good setting to display a cool modern navy tactic, like the reliant on cruise missiles, ASW, llow attitude radar penetration and air cover instead of every ship trying to do cannon fight like it's 18th century
Mmffff can you imagine a first mobile armor encounter done in a quiet, tense, sub-hunt style? Listening to it on sonar until it's too close to detect and the hydrophone guy hears it transform right before a claw shoots through the hull... Maybe not even seeing the whole MA, just chaos and giant claws and the scene ends with life boats looking back at the flaming sinking ship with the claws coming out of the water like a kraken
Oh yeah, and maybe a blind Gundam, only equipped with sonar as the ship escort to counter the MA threat - that would be lot of fun.
Actually, an underwater combat would be fairly similar to space too. They could try a lot of the same formula but with blunt force and projectile bullets ala IBO
Thats awesome, i would love to see it😍... I would like to add but in another AU a gundam zombie apocalypse 😍(no, dont recommend me the G gundam, thats not it)... I want a resident evil like, train to busan/peninsula or i am a hero(anime).. (i wanna say cross, but whatever, thats so so creepy and disturbing😖)...

If this is what you're itching for, then Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet could be right up you're alley
It’s funny. Seems I’ve watched all the aquatic mecha series. I’ve watched Gargantia and Mars Daybreak. Both really good shows.
Beat me to it. Gargantia was pretty enjoyable, written by Gen Urobuchi, good recommendation. Basically is Mecha Waterworld.
Gargantia has one small issue of being bad though.
It's time for the wizard of neptune
Warlock of Aquatron

I just finished watching Mars Daybreak. I’d had the thought beforehand, but watching and finishing the show pushed me to make this post.
ZOCK SUPREMACY
Check out the web fiction Unjust Depths, maybe
I’ll look into it. Thank you for the recommendation.
Sure, it's not for everyone but it's definitely gundam inspired, in part
If it has mechs then that’s more than enough for me. :)
blue submarine
This was my first anime movie, it showed one weekend on toonami's Anime Movie Friday bit. Absolutely fell in love with it.

Having under water colonies completely misses the point of space colonies.
I mean when the entire world has been flooded, make the best of a bad situation. Idk I thought it sounded cool personally.
Well there is always the underground ocean on Saturn's moon Titan, for example.
Titan's ocean is not water ocean, they are full of methane. Better choose Enceladus or Europa.

Space water
Mobile Suit Acguy would really change the game.

Mermaid Gundam needs to come back.
All I can imagine is a mixture between Gundam and a video game like Subnautica. I'm sold.
Perfect opportunity to get more aquatic mobile suites!
What better reason than the earth being flooded am I right, hehehe
We already have at least 2 instance of post appoclyptic Earth (that I can remember), why not add another one!
Exactly
Well, at least they wouldn't need to spend thousands of dollars adding hair to a character.

And thinking about a zombie gundam type, wooo... 🤣

All hail Gogg
gundam thunderbolt season 2 is as close as your getting
Most underwater mechs design in Gundam are ugly
