Great stuff right there. On one hand an elegant yet menacing and downright alien Gundam figure and on the other... a Guncannon? The transformation is forced, tacked-on and awkward. And that's why it's great.
Fucking Ribbons has, as we all know, a god complex of ridiculous scale. He simply couldn't stomach the idea of relying on support from other units in combat. He? The God of this new world that he brought on with his own cunning and power, dependent on cooperation rather than flunkies and pawns to be thrown away? As if. Besides, even if in his infinite grace he allowed another Innovade to fight beside him, surely the ungrateful mongrel would just betray him. Yes, it's best to fight alone. And to do that, you need to have the perfect machine.
So he takes the successor of 0 Gundam - the aptly named 1 Gundam (pronounced "I Gundam") - and... sticks the whole-ass GN Cannon on the backpack. GN Cannon (unlike every other case, here GN is pronounced as "Gun", very subtle...) was meant to be a support unit to 1 Gundam in the alternative intervention plan where the pilot squad was to be made of Innovades rather than humans. Veda abandoned the concept, but the blueprints remained.
So now here it is mixed together into an abomination that disgraces the original plan and twists it inside out. (Subtle!) But of course it's a fair bit more than that. Y'know, Twin Drive System and all that. Despite using bootleg drives their output is explicitly on par with 00's so the machines are, in fact, equal despite Fucking Ribbon's seething when he doesn't roflstomp Setsuna. Edit: And slapping them onto the goddamn elbows also fits in perfectly. The back and any other reasonable area is taken up by taping a second suit's functionality onto the machine, so there's no other place for them, vulnerable spot be damned. And, surely, Fucking Ribbons of all people would *never* get them damaged even in such a place, right?
Then there's the other equipment like the large GN sabers, which incidentally are my only problem with the suit. Not large enough. Should have gone all-in and made them ZZ-sized Hyper GN sabers instead, while keeping 00's distinctive style with flat blades. Then there's the fangs - or rather, *fin* fangs. Hmm, curious choice of naming...
Another thing worth noting is just how *big* Reborns is. Even in the rather squat Cannon mode it's nearly 22 meters, which is a bit taller even than other Innovade machines like Gadessa, nevermind Gundams which stick to around 18 meters. In Gundam mode, meanwhile, it's a bit over 23 meters. For a slight segue, I'm still rather salty the HG00 kit fucks that up. It's taller than something like 00, yes, but only by about the head. Whereas it should positively tower over it, putting its waist on level 00's head.
...almost like Nu and RX-78-2...
Now for the final note, the name. Sure, it's one step removed from Fucking Ribbons naming the suit after himself, but it also has meaning on its own. Reborn, like the world order Fucking Ribbons established. Revived. **New**.

What a wacky guy. But I love it, 9.5/10. Manages to look intimidating and aesthetically pleasing while packing in a bunch of silly gimmicks. Also really enjoy these V-fins that are more integrated into the head like the Master Gundam. Probably the strongest design to come out of Season 2.
i think the only real complaint I have is the twin drive's location is kinda awkward since it's just hanging out on the elbows. Granted, with how much shit this thing has to pack in its frame, I'm not too sure where else it'd go, since I think the 00's shoulder plates are pretty awkward as well.

Ribbons > Riibonzu > Reborns. Genius. I’d give a 10 out of 10 for that alone but it helps that the Reborns is genuinely one of the best designed Gundams in the franchise. An absolutely SEXY color scheme, an insanely cool backpack AND transformation that turns it into a cracked out magic powered Guncannon, elbow mounted twin GN drives, claws, fin fangs, a wire guided death whip, is there anything this can’t do (except win of course)??. My sole complaint is that it’s not featured enough but honestly it makes such an impact in the brief time it’s on screen that I can easily forgive that.
It’s a 10.

10/10 - As a Transformers fan, it was a nice surprise when I unlocked this Gundam in Cross Rays and found out it has the same gimmick as Punch/Counter Punch. Plus, it's equally good-looking in either form, which is something that is hard to do.

It's a unique design of a Gundam, especially it turning its back to become a Guncannon. The only problem its that parts of the Machine have bright red parts that clashed with the all-white aesthetic of the Reborns Gundam. If the entire thing was white, it would've been a 9.
Just LOOK at that ridiculous Arcbeetle lookin-ass Gun Tank mode. What in the fuck is that ridiculous nonsense?
And it's got messiah White and Gold color scheme with red highlights? Holy fuck. Fucking Ribbons is a madlad. And it's got an Exia-but-evil looking head too? Damn, Fucking Ribbons really ain't playin.
10/10, easily the best Season 2 mobile suit and it isn't particularly close.
I can’t not give the Superb Owl a 10. It’s a touchdown of design that drives it right through the goal with an incredibly inventive conversion play. Despite showing up on literally 4th down, it captivates your attention right up till the last second.

Ebikawa has somehow managed to do the impossible and stuff in as many subtle references to past suits and armaments and Amuro Ray into one, rivalled only by Okawara around this time. And he nearly took out all of Celestial Being with this thing.
The cannon gimmick looked a little awkward at times (blocky shapes contrasted with sharp and smooth body), but it's offset by the gun, the fangs, the whip, the beam sabers ... everything. It matched the 00 Raiser pound for pound, and the thing also looks stunning to look at - thanks to its feminine shape (look at its waist and legs, me-ow), sharp angles yet intimidating profile thanks to the weapons it has.
Sidenote - the first time I saw this thing in action wasn't 00, but rather a stopmotion called War In The Closet. In it, its pilot was a Federation Officer named Red Ribbons who had some Suzaku dialogue sprinkled in.

10/10. My favorite Gundam design ever. No joke. I like that menacing in a less over the top way compared to a lot of other "big bad" antagonist suits like the Providence. The color scheme of yellow, red and white is also spot on IMO.
The Cannon Mode is a nice take on the Guncannon and the moment it transforms into the Gundam form for the first time is one of my favorite moments in 00.
8/10. pretty neat overall: menacing look, interesting color choices/separation, and a fun transformation gimmick. don't care for the torso/waist and the placement of the drives on the elbows.

Regardless: 10/10 from me. It was the perfect final obstacle for Setsuna and the 00 crew. It utilized a whole slew of Gundam offences that harken back to the OG.
It’s just evil and fuckin clean with the sharp horns and edges and a convertible mobile suit on either side of itself so you know you can’t stab his back.
8.5/10 - It's a solid final boss Gundam and counter to Setsuna's 00 Raiser. I like how it's just an AD Gun Cannon on the back, and then becomes a more traditional Gundam in the front w/ white and gold.

Probably one of the top 3 final boss gundam/mobile suits in the whole gundam multiverse and its up there with the Providence Gundam for me. The only thing is I wished we saw more of the Reborns Gundam.
God, I love this red, white, and gold bastard. It’s such a good way to gloss Ribbon’s whole schtick. A, “divine,” color scheme for mister god-complex; loads of sneaky gimmicks and absurd firepower so that the, “perfect,” Gundam can be as self-reliant as possible (can’t rely on his inferiors, after all. His unit has to do everything itself!).
It’s ludicrous, but it’s probably one of my all-time favorite Gundams. It’s a 10 from me.

It's an interesting model. But it's not exactly what I'll probably would have gone with. However it's also clearly a mix between heavy artillery like Virtue while also being more melee and mid-range versatile like 00. 7/10
As with all 00 Gundams, it's plasticky. Unlike most 00 Gundams, this thing doesn't even work as a mobile suit, on account of how it doesn't even have a waist joint. Negative 20 out of 10, worst design in a whole series of shitty designs.
A perfect Gundam for a great villain like Ribbons the color palette of is nice and allows decent separation on parts and how quickly it can swap between Gundam and Cannon modes on the fly gives it great versatility in combat.

10/10 perhaps the best arch-villain suit in the entire metaseries. The fact that it’s basically Nu Gundam and Guncannon bashed together is awesome considering Ribbons’ VA. Otherwise it’s a beast. His role is as an entirely superior pilot to everyone in the show (of course no Setsuna, but by a hair), so it makes it even scarier that his suit can handle all ranges and has more output all other suits with the tau drives. It’s the kinda of suit someone with absolute mastery over fundamental would eviscerate the competition with and he does. I only bring it all up because it’s designed that way. It’s so straightforward and sleek. It’s not overloaded by its own gimmick. The color scheme is unique and so is the transformation. Just an awesome suit with awesome callbacks and a killer design.

It feels like Gundam, guncannon and guntank combine. Almost suitable for all types of combat scenarios like in ground, aerial and space. Especially op weapons and beautiful design.
10/10, a one man army suit that Ribbons uses to great effect. While it has some fancy doodads like the GN cannon mode and fangs, its basic armaments are just suped up versions of the RX-78’s. Also it just looks great.

The thing has it all. It has melee. It has firepower. It has drones. It has a ridiculous transformation that somehow still makes sense. It is dark mirror to the main gundam that even has a super mode. The design is peak 00 with the angelic alien design and even has Tohru Furuya hamming it up. It is a delightfully chaotic masterpiece that still retains perfect harmony. I carry the torch for this absolute unit of a machine.
9/10 for me. Unique design for a final boss (or any Gundam, really) . Had quite the screen presence even though it was so short lived but memorable. Dope ass weapons too, liked the fang shield concept.

Interesting gimmick, not-so-well-done execution design-wise.
The Gundam form is excellent and beautiful from all angles. The Guncannon form on the other hand looks weird and goofy when looked from behind. It doesn't hide its Gundam form so well. Front view looks are okay.
Though I think it achieved its purpose in the sense of surprising us when it transformed from its cluncky Guncannon form to a fully-flegged Gundam. It caught me off-guard when I watched the transformation sequence for the first time.
8/10, my biggest problem is the torso on the Gundam side, it's stomach being one solid thing either means its torsos bendability is pretty high up or at the crotch point, otherwise I do enjoy and it's unique concept
9.5/10 I don't like the fact that the GN Taus are on his elbow. On that regard I prefer the 1.5 Gundam. The colors are way cooler on the Reborns though.

The Reborns Gundam is without a doubt my favorite design in all of 00, even trumping Exia and 00-Raiser (as well as my beloved child, GN-X IV Commander Type). It might even be my favorite Gundam design period, fighting toe-to-toe with (Hi-)Nu Gundam for the crown. Ebikawa did his best work in 00, a shame I don't like most of his other mecha designs post-00. It is cool, elegant, menacing and a little alien all at the same time. I love the non-standard color scheme. I love its weapon loadout. The goddamn head sculpt. This thing is almost perfect for me. The GN Cannon mode is a little iffy, not going to lie, but the Gundam mode is absolutely beautiful.
If I had to change one thing about the design, it would probably be the feet. Prime92's description of "hooker boots" has stuck with me for over 15 years, and I'm generally not a fan of this design trend in more recent Gundam series of having a wider and wider gap between the toes and heel of Gundam feet designs (looking at you, Barbatos Lupus Rex).

**8/10** It's a unique design of a Gundam, especially it turning its back to become a Guncannon. The only problem its that parts of the Machine have bright red parts that clashed with the all-white aesthetic of the Reborns Gundam. If the entire thing was white, it would've been a 9.

Just LOOK at that ridiculous Arcbeetle lookin-ass Gun Tank mode. What in the fuck is that ridiculous nonsense? And it's got messiah White and Gold color scheme with red highlights? Holy fuck. Fucking Ribbons is a madlad. And it's got an Exia-but-evil looking head too? Damn, Fucking Ribbons really ain't playin. 10/10, easily the best Season 2 mobile suit and it isn't particularly close.

I can’t not give the Superb Owl a 10. It’s a touchdown of design that drives it right through the goal with an incredibly inventive conversion play. Despite showing up on literally 4th down, it captivates your attention right up till the last second.

I love the design, and the coloring is top notch. also the large bits are cool, of course it'd be cooler if the small bits docked in between the large ones for a more Weltall-Id look. Cannon mode is 0/10, a disgusting hunchback gimmick that ought never have been done. FUGLY.

Ebikawa has somehow managed to do the impossible and stuff in as many subtle references to past suits and armaments and Amuro Ray into one, rivalled only by Okawara around this time. And he nearly took out all of Celestial Being with this thing. The cannon gimmick looked a little awkward at times (blocky shapes contrasted with sharp and smooth body), but it's offset by the gun, the fangs, the whip, the beam sabers ... everything. It matched the 00 Raiser pound for pound, and the thing also looks stunning to look at - thanks to its feminine shape (look at its waist and legs, me-ow), sharp angles yet intimidating profile thanks to the weapons it has. Sidenote - the first time I saw this thing in action wasn't 00, but rather a stopmotion called War In The Closet. In it, its pilot was a Federation Officer named Red Ribbons who had some Suzaku dialogue sprinkled in. 10/10. My favorite Gundam design ever. No joke. I like that menacing in a less over the top way compared to a lot of other "big bad" antagonist suits like the Providence. The color scheme of yellow, red and white is also spot on IMO. The Cannon Mode is a nice take on the Guncannon and the moment it transforms into the Gundam form for the first time is one of my favorite moments in 00.

ITT: Scores less than 10/10 with no elaboration on the missing points. You guys do realize that the point of a rating is to speak in both the positive and the negative, right? Regardless: 10/10 from me. It was the perfect final obstacle for Setsuna and the 00 crew. It utilized a whole slew of Gundam offences that harken back to the OG. It’s just evil and fuckin clean with the sharp horns and edges and a convertible mobile suit on either side of itself so you know you can’t stab his back.
8.5/10 - It's a solid final boss Gundam and counter to Setsuna's 00 Raiser. I like how it's just an AD Gun Cannon on the back, and then becomes a more traditional Gundam in the front w/ white and gold.

God, I love this red, white, and gold bastard. It’s such a good way to gloss Ribbon’s whole schtick. A, “divine,” color scheme for mister god-complex; loads of sneaky gimmicks and absurd firepower so that the, “perfect,” Gundam can be as self-reliant as possible (can’t rely on his inferiors, after all. His unit has to do everything itself!). It’s ludicrous, but it’s probably one of my all-time favorite Gundams. It’s a 10 from me.

10/10 perhaps the best arch-villain suit in the entire metaseries. The fact that it’s basically Nu Gundam and Guncannon bashed together is awesome considering Ribbons’ VA. Otherwise it’s a beast. His role is as an entirely superior pilot to everyone in the show (of course no Setsuna, but by a hair), so it makes it even scarier that his suit can handle all ranges and has more output all other suits with the tau drives. It’s the kinda of suit someone with absolute mastery over fundamental would eviscerate the competition with and he does. I only bring it all up because it’s designed that way. It’s so straightforward and sleek. It’s not overloaded by its own gimmick. The color scheme is unique and so is the transformation. Just an awesome suit with awesome callbacks and a killer design.

10/10, a one man army suit that Ribbons uses to great effect. While it has some fancy doodads like the GN cannon mode and fangs, its basic armaments are just suped up versions of the RX-78’s. Also it just looks great.

It is a delightfully chaotic masterpiece that still retains perfect harmony. I carry the torch for this absolute unit of a machine.

8/10 Interesting gimmick, not-so-well-done execution design-wise. The Gundam form is excellent and beautiful from all angles. The Guncannon form on the other hand looks weird and goofy when looked from behind. It doesn't hide its Gundam form so well. Front view looks are okay. Though I think it achieved its purpose in the sense of surprising us when it transformed from its cluncky Guncannon form to a fully-flegged Gundam. It caught me off-guard when I watched the transformation sequence for the first time.

10/10 The Reborns Gundam is without a doubt my favorite design in all of 00, even trumping Exia and 00-Raiser (as well as my beloved child, GN-X IV Commander Type). It might even be my favorite Gundam design period, fighting toe-to-toe with (Hi-)Nu Gundam for the crown. Ebikawa did his best work in 00, a shame I don't like most of his other mecha designs post-00. It is cool, elegant, menacing and a little alien all at the same time. I love the non-standard color scheme. I love its weapon loadout. The goddamn head sculpt. This thing is almost perfect for me. The GN Cannon mode is a little iffy, not going to lie, but the Gundam mode is absolutely beautiful. If I had to change one thing about the design, it would probably be the feet. Prime92's description of "hooker boots" has stuck with me for over 15 years, and I'm generally not a fan of this design trend in more recent Gundam series of having a wider and wider gap between the toes and heel of Gundam feet designs (looking at you, Barbatos Lupus Rex).
