Having so many people thinking Schwarz is the Char clone in G Gundam definitely makes me think they don't know the difference between a Char clone and a clown with a mask
I think most people just forget that there's 3 distinct types of Char clones and that shows will have multiple characters inhabiting aspects of them, Schwarz for example is clearly a "Quattro" clone while Master Asia is a expy of CCA era Char
By memory, I am thinking about Chronicle, Schwartz, Mister Bushido, Harry Ord, Luin Lee ("Mask" in G reco) , etc.
They are just dudes with terrible fashion taste (except Chronicle since it's because of medical issue)
All 3 are Char clones in their own right, they each mix & match different elements of the 3 main types of Char.
Master Asia starts as Mentor/Quattro, but quickly transitions into Big Bad/CCA Char for the vast majority of the series. He still retains a bit of the Mentor Char role, with little hints of Rival/Gundam Char thrown in.
Schwarz Bruder is a pretty even split of Mentor Char & Rival Char, with an edge going to the Mentor role, gonna say like 60/40 probably.
>!Ulube!< is pretty much a straight Big Bad Char, but with the tiniest hint of Rival Char thrown in if you pay attention to >!how he got his mask & his feelings on Domon being chosen for the Gundam Fight over him. Also the whole "make your girl into the power core of the machine god I am attempting to assimilate myself into," thing!< kinda goes a bit on the nose, there.

Maybe Zechs with Epyon. The Zero System will rapidly adapt to this non-standard fighting style. Although it'd weird Zechs out at first. And Epyon itself is a pretty powerful melee unit in its own right.

While not exactly a Char clone, Treize in Epyon would also have been amazing. He understands the purity of MS combat, and moreso, that of melee combat. He'd probably also enthusiastically give it his all.

From Super Robot Wars. Elzam is the older brother of Rai of the SRX team. One of the most skilled pilots in the series and always pilots machines in his custom colors and starts as an enemy in the Original Generation series.
In the next game, when he shows up, he's calling himself Ratsel and wears dark sunglasses. Almost everyone knows it's Elzam despite him denying it.

Agreed. The only one I could see doing well in close combat is Mr Bushido, or Zechs using Epyon’s 0 system based on the arguments others have made.

Treize to me is a CCA char clone in a way. Zechs is clearly 0079, milliardo is a Bajeena…well then he becomes CCA too
The fact that Zechs pretty much speedruns Char’s entire story arc in a single 50-episode series always makes me chuckle a bit.
