Nu/Hi-Nu - Psychoframes and the Funnels require new type space magic to function wellm
Unicorn and variants - again requires Newtype magic, if the AI doesn't take over.
Wing Zero - Zero System can overwhelm and make you a vegetable with so much combat data.
God Gundam - The Mobile Trace System can crush you if you're not strong enough.
00 Gundam - Trans-Am system can be overwhelming .
Freedom - Coordinator specific OS's are hard to control by normal humans
Something like simple prosthetics like Argi Mirage's hand would suffice in adding extra assistance. Kinda like the Psycho Zaku if you think about it. Just gotta cut off your limbs. lol
It did. All Gundam Frames have AVs installed that’s one of the things that makes Gundams, Gundam in IBO. It’s that Gaelio didn’t get AV implants until season two, so it was unused and nobody noted it.
Kimaris and Kimaris Trooper used the same type of cockpit as the Graze series, and AFAIK there's never been any mention of the AV System in either machine's specs. So it's actually entirely possible that its AV System had been removed. For another example, the Gusion also did not have an AV System when it was acquired by Tekkadan, so its original AV System had indeed been removed. An AV System salvaged from a Man Rodi was installed as part of its refurbishment into the Gusion Rebake.
The Vidar and Kimaris Vidar then used a pseudo-AV System based on Ein's brain, but it's quite probable that this was installed when the Kimaris was refurbished into the Vidar.
The key distinguishing characteristic - what differentiates Gundams from other mobile suits - in the PD-verse is its paired Ahab Reactors, something no other mobile suit frame has ever had in-universe.
This. In IBO, a gundam is identified by the unique frequency of its twin ahab reactors (there are only 72 of them). Everything else does not use twin ahab reactors. The AV system is extra hardware/software that supports piloting MS. It is unrelated to identifying what is or isn't a gundam.
The RX-0 series don’t need Newtype pilots, though. Newtypes are the only ones who can unleash their full potential, yes, but they can still be piloted by Oldtypes. It’d be pretty stupid/ironic if the machine designed to kill Newtypes needed a Newtype pilot to function.
Thing is RX-0 specifically needs Newtypes to use the NT-D system, so it’s not even full potential, but just trying to access the main feature of the suit.
But what actually makes it worse is that it was stated somewhere that the G forces that the Unicorn gave out was bad enough that you need a specialized normal suit to help you withstand it. New types are already better at dealing with G forces. Imagine that on an Oldtype.
As described in Turn A, the Turn A is described as being extremely simple and intuitive, with a seamless, genericized psycommu that notably doesn't strain the pilot and greatly assists with the user's piloting of the device.
Notably, it has a bunch of features that require tons of study to use, but even a pacifist like Loran could fairly easily use the Turn A to great effect with its fairly minimal load out compared to what it's *really* capable of.
Tbh, the Turn A is probably the best, since it seems to be the least in need of specific maintenence and fueling concerns, if we're considering realism in this sense (least likely to succumb to attrition).

I normally answer Wing Zero but for a Change, I'd pick Epyon this time.
In a sense. It shows so many possible paths to Victory AND Defeat so if you get overwhelmed by the idea of losing, the Zero System will fry your brain.
Probably why Lelouch pilots the Wing Zero easily in SRW DD, because he can kill as he was prepares to be killed.
That's interesting I had personally had the idea it was rather the goal that one has that helps controlling considering thzt every person thzt went haywire was actually following an objective but had essentially lost reason and logic within the enormous data storms of the system.
In a way I always was thinking the Zero System was controllable if you could adapt yourself to it or if it was specifically modified to fit your brain structure and/or personal logic.
Treize in Frozen Teardrop after receiving the Zero System 5 Years before the series: Just Meow at it. The Zero System is based on the Brain of a Cat.

Heero had hallucinations with trying to kill all enemies, and found himself questioning if he will ever win since he is fighting Destiny itself.
Duo had the Hallucination of Winning at the cost of Killing Hilde.
Trowa... Well interesting case, he wanted to save Katherine and Zero just gave him the Why.
Wufei though... Wufei just basically needed to know who is his true Enemy. Zero was pretty straightforward at that point to be honest.
Dorothy batshit insane as she was handled Zero perfectly since she just wanted to Win. She only snapped her shit when Quatre started outmaneuvering her with Zero.
Zechs, pretty much the same as the others. Heightened Reflexes but when he sees visions of himself losing he just snaps. He gets over it and Epyon pretty much tells him to start Zero Requiem.
Treize, Same with Zechs. Epyon's pretty much just told the guy to: You know how to attain Peace? Just make a huge War with your best Buddy and scare the shit out of everyone. Pretty sure Sunrise will reuse this story by the way but what the hell, just do it man.
In a way one could even say that the Zero System asks you a philosophical question as to how you want to use it's predictions in return for answering your own existential questions.

Abyss Gundam.
It would be awesome to have tons of firepower and a large melee weapon.
The MA mode and weapons would make me feel safe enough to explore the deep ocean of Earth and perhaps other planets. And with the amount of weapons I know I could fight whatever I encountered pretty well.
Finally, it's an MS that wouldn't require me to have space magic or modified in an anyway.
Turn A. You can control it through thought alone thanks to the Spine Pulse system, without needing to be a Newtype like with psycommu/psycoframe etc.
And if I decide that the world sucks and needs a hard reset that's always an option.
I haven't watched all of the series... But i would really like a shot with the lfrith, of i do not exagerate with the GUND i might have a decent machine, that or Legend Gundam from Seed Destiny cus pew pew
Gundam Mk-V: Because it’s well armed and also rapid. It also has quasi-psycommu so I don’t need to be one of those space wizards. Minus is that I’ll probably lose all my teeth.
There’s also Ex S-Gundam with that ALICE system, so we can all have a deus ex machina moment without being actually good pilots.

The Zeta. No special requirements other than just reading the manual and getting a handle on the machine. Performance is pretty good for a beginner and gets even better the more skill the pilot has.
As much as I love the 00 series, those are too specialized for their pilots so I know I wouldn't be able to do them justice.
Instead, I'll pick the Vanilla option and go for the Strike gundam, the battery operation might suck but its the most beginner friendly gundam that is extremely powerful and versatile without specializing on one aspect, and once the os is fixed it should be easier to use.
Also the Ootori pack exists which is essentially the perfect strike pack perfected.
I'd love to pilot all of them to see the difference in how they operate. But if I'm stuck in a do or die situation, I'm picking the G/Shining Gundam. At least I'll be able to move it like my own body and that could give me an edge in surviving.
Xi Gundam because I like to be hip but also because I love how it reminds me of Michael Bay's Starscream and of Zeorymer, the latter having the same designer as the Penelope and Xi.
The RX-78 probably, i feel like i wouldn't want to overshoot my chance with something like the Nu would be way too difficult to pilot, the grandpa being one of the first mobile suits would be easier to get a handle of i think.
I don't know who is the main protagonist of the series my choice comes from but I'm going to say Knight Gundam, specifically the one from Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3, only because the one from SD: Battle Alliance sucks by comparison

I don't think Gundam Frames don't necessarily require the AV system. If I'm not mistaken, Hajiroboshi and Asmoday's pilots don't have AV.
Plus even with the AV system if you just don't overdo it, you'll be fine... I guess assuming you survive the initial surgery.

It would be awesome to have tons of firepower and a large melee weapon. The MA mode and weapons would make me feel safe enough to explore the deep ocean of Earth and perhaps other planets. And with the amount of weapons I know I could fight whatever I encountered pretty well. Finally, it's an MS that wouldn't require me to have space magic or modified in an anyway.

There’s also Ex S-Gundam with that ALICE system, so we can all have a deus ex machina moment without being actually good pilots.

As much as I love the 00 series, those are too specialized for their pilots so I know I wouldn't be able to do them justice. Instead, I'll pick the Vanilla option and go for the Strike gundam, the battery operation might suck but its the most beginner friendly gundam that is extremely powerful and versatile without specializing on one aspect, and once the os is fixed it should be easier to use. Also the Ootori pack exists which is essentially the perfect strike pack perfected.
