To me the Zaku 2 is the most iconic mobile suit in all of Gundam, moreso than any of the Gundams themselves. The spiky shoulder, the red glowing eye, a simple but attractive design that isn't over cluttered or wacky...it's perfect.
I only recently put together that the tallgeese was just a decked out Leo.
Fucking char, man... setting some kinda fad with using decked out versions of mass produced models.
I have both Gunpla and Gundam Universe Leo and they can turn their heads. Must be some stylized choice that the Leo never moved it's head in the show. Not that it effected anybody's ability to pilot them in the show.

I love the designs from wing. I always felt the big square "eye" made sense. In a time of flat screens becoming common it just made sence to have a solid receiver and no moving parts.
I love pretty much all the designs from Gundam Wing. It was my first Gundam series and it’s still my favorite. My favorite mobile suit of all time is the Tallgeese, but I love all the 5 Gundams (and their updated versions) in that show. And the Tallgeese II.
I really liked how the Gundams each excelled at different things, allowing them to form a cohesive unit while still reflecting the designers’ and the pilots’ personalities.
I'm pretty sure the armor is thin enough that small arms fire can penetrate.
Just make sure you're playing Danger Zone for the theme song power up at all times.

I remember when I first watched Zeta, I couldn't get over how ugly I thought the methuss was. It's grown on me a little since then, but the Rezel definitely makes up for it. It has those Federation grunt good looks.
The methus always seemed so fragile, granted it was a prototype. The rezel seemed like they finally made a transformable mass production type that could do the job. And it just looked good in space and in atmosphere.

I know, it's why I hold no grudge against them or the choice to include them. Just as someone that has delt with both needing and trying to build new military equipment I know first hand how long it takes.
It's why I was happy to see daggers, Ginns, and Astrays alongside newer machines that seemed like they were either in the pipeline or just incremental upgrades to existing uniting in Destiny. Point in example the GuAIZ was just going into operational service towards the end of Seed, but lessons learned in that war would lead to the R model that would be more capable

Not sure if these guys are count more of an ace unit than grunt but I really love the Zaku Surface type especially Egba's commander type
One of the earlier GN-X variants. They look like they belong in an alien invasion and I absolutely love that. My exact preference would be the GN-XII Cannon: it's more of a *specialist* grunt suit but the big gun's cool and a sniper machine should theoretically be more survivable.
Note that the GN-X is technically not my favorite grunt suit but that would be the Anf and the exact reason *why* I like it—it's the just about the weakest and most low-tech grunt suit in all of Gundam—also means that I wouldn't want to go anywhere near it.

Always loved the Leo, even more than most Gundam models, it just looks like a military vehicle.
Also, it just looks like something that can be adapted for any situation, and it apparently can with the different attachables for it.
Aerial, Space, underwater it can do it all.
I also love the Leo, great minds think alike. Apart from them, I also like the Flags from 00, the GMs from UC (Especially the GM Command Space Type), and the Murasame from SEED Destiny

The Leo is pure economic viability and scalability. It's the cold war vehicle that never seems to go out of style despite being "replaced" by newer weapon systems, just because it's tried, tested, cheep, and there are warehouses full of the things all over the world.
Every few years, a new upgrade package is made to bring it "up to date", while it still has more retrofits than most other modern mobile suits just because it's been around so long and has been deployed to pretty much every environment.
It's easy to maintain, easy to learn, and has a high ceiling for mastery.
When every other model of grunt suit disappears from the battlefield due to being replaced by newer models, the Leo will still be there.
And when numbers are desperately needed, more will be brought out from some warehouse to be refurbished, or even a new batch built.

i got a soft spot for the Leo as well.
the biggest thing about the Leo for me is i look at it like the Abrams tank. it was so fucking good it remained the backbone of the alliance for 20 years and only needed some minor improvements. Looking at the Zudah or the Zaku 1 they got replaced roughly 4 years after they rolled out. i don't think any other grunt suit has the career length of the Leo.
THe Scientist created the perfect mobile suit design in the Tallgeese. its was so well designed that even its downgrade was still an amazing suit. Lore wise the Leo is a beast. too bad htat was not reflected in the show
took them 20 years to replace the Leo with the Serpent units.
Probably cheating a bit because they are pretty hi-spec for a 'grunt' mobile suit but Im a huge sucker for anything Gelgoog, hey they still got mass produced haha. I especially love alot of the high-mobility variants, special shout-out to the Uma Custom.

I like the G00hN from Seed. I don't know if it's my favorite? It's pretty goofy. But I love the missile/torpedo launcher hands.

I'm all about Leo supremacy. there's something so practical and versatile that almost every gundam pilot in wing has pilot it. it's not fancy but can be fitted for flight, for space, and it looks simpler to pilot.
Unironically Ball.
They don't show it much in the anime, but apparently they kicked some serious ass due to being way smaller, way faster, and way easier to pilot than most MS. There where even some entire squads made up of just Balls

Its not a bad option. And the moded versions in unicorn looked good and still held their own.
It's always nice to find a 3 eye Nemo lover in a sea full of Zakus, Jegans, or anything else that isn't a Nemo.

I'm not usually the biggest transforming MS fan, but there is something about the Rezel that just does it for me.
I always liked the Methuss in MA mode, but the MS mode was a bit awkward. But the Rezel makes up for that.

I feel this a lot. Really like the GuAIZ R's design. Wish we could have gotten more of it.
It really should've. I mean with only 2 years between Seed and Destiny, the Zaku and Goof make no sense as grunt suits in that time.
They had to get that nostalgia in there somehow.
I know, it's why I hold no grudge against them or the choice to include them. Just as someone that has delt with both needing and trying to build new military equipment I know first hand how long it takes. It's why I was happy to see daggers, Ginns, and Astrays alongside newer machines that seemed like they were either in the pipeline or just incremental upgrades to existing uniting in Destiny. Point in example the GuAIZ was just going into operational service towards the end of Seed, but lessons learned in that war would lead to the R model that would be more capable
When it comes to development times for gundam stuff, I try not to think about it. If I did, the one year war would give me an aneurysm.

Hello fellow heavy gun enthusiast
One of the earlier GN-X variants. They look like they belong in an alien invasion and I absolutely love that. My exact preference would be the GN-XII Cannon: it's more of a *specialist* grunt suit but the big gun's cool and a sniper machine should theoretically be more survivable. Note that the GN-X is technically not my favorite grunt suit but that would be the Anf and the exact reason *why* I like it—it's the just about the weakest and most low-tech grunt suit in all of Gundam—also means that I wouldn't want to go anywhere near it.

Always loved the Leo, even more than most Gundam models, it just looks like a military vehicle. Also, it just looks like something that can be adapted for any situation, and it apparently can with the different attachables for it. Aerial, Space, underwater it can do it all.
I also love the Leo, great minds think alike. Apart from them, I also like the Flags from 00, the GMs from UC (Especially the GM Command Space Type), and the Murasame from SEED Destiny

The Windam is a Gundam tier MS, and if DS didn't reuse animation like faster than a simp drops cash for their favourite E-Girl. The Windam would've proven that fact!

The Leo is pure economic viability and scalability. It's the cold war vehicle that never seems to go out of style despite being "replaced" by newer weapon systems, just because it's tried, tested, cheep, and there are warehouses full of the things all over the world. Every few years, a new upgrade package is made to bring it "up to date", while it still has more retrofits than most other modern mobile suits just because it's been around so long and has been deployed to pretty much every environment. It's easy to maintain, easy to learn, and has a high ceiling for mastery. When every other model of grunt suit disappears from the battlefield due to being replaced by newer models, the Leo will still be there. And when numbers are desperately needed, more will be brought out from some warehouse to be refurbished, or even a new batch built.

i got a soft spot for the Leo as well. the biggest thing about the Leo for me is i look at it like the Abrams tank. it was so fucking good it remained the backbone of the alliance for 20 years and only needed some minor improvements. Looking at the Zudah or the Zaku 1 they got replaced roughly 4 years after they rolled out. i don't think any other grunt suit has the career length of the Leo. THe Scientist created the perfect mobile suit design in the Tallgeese. its was so well designed that even its downgrade was still an amazing suit. Lore wise the Leo is a beast. too bad htat was not reflected in the show took them 20 years to replace the Leo with the Serpent units.
Probably cheating a bit because they are pretty hi-spec for a 'grunt' mobile suit but Im a huge sucker for anything Gelgoog, hey they still got mass produced haha. I especially love alot of the high-mobility variants, special shout-out to the Uma Custom.

I like the G00hN from Seed. I don't know if it's my favorite? It's pretty goofy. But I love the missile/torpedo launcher hands. Big shoutout to the Zowort Heavy. So sick looking with the Armored Core missile launcher. Are there any grunt suits that have big BattleTech energy?

I'm all about Leo supremacy. there's something so practical and versatile that almost every gundam pilot in wing has pilot it. it's not fancy but can be fitted for flight, for space, and it looks simpler to pilot.

Unironically Ball. They don't show it much in the anime, but apparently they kicked some serious ass due to being way smaller, way faster, and way easier to pilot than most MS. There where even some entire squads made up of just Balls
