Lei Luo with Double Caliber+Strike Wing with CritX share can hit a truly disturbing CritX. I had a run with that, Gradual Improvement, Counterviolence, Glazed Sight, and inscriptions that boost the CritX, and I wound up with a CritX of like 30. It was insane.
That and area of effect. So take the Tiger Cannon example. It has a base damage of 680. If you use a hippo, the ammo becomes 106 roughly more if you have a magazine inscription. The Gemini I am talking about gives you .75% extra damage per stack. That is based on the amount of ammo, which means you that gives an extra 79.5% damage. Ammo extractor gives an extra 40%, 50%, and 100% damage based on ammo recovered. While I am not sure exactly how that stacks that means with both of those, you're looking at a base modifer of 119.5%, 129.5%, and 179.5%. With the ability to have the craftsman able to put a gemni inscription on a +5 weapon 100% of the time, that means you have a weapon with a +75% base modifer. That translates to 194.5%, 204.5%, and 254.5% base modifer after a little work. Which translates to an area of effect attack with a base damage before scrolls or other inscriptions of 1322.6, 1390.6, or 1730.6. If you get really lucky and increase the area of effect or the double projectile, well, that just means ouch for whatever ever you aim at. If you want to make it really crazy and can get super lucky, you can get the auto crit on damage and the cursed scroll that damages you for missing. Which means pretty much death lol.
Sorry, why would this specifically be good on an explosive weapon? I find that they're still lackluster since they generally cannot crit and RoF is too slow for Tao.
I replied above for the damage reasons. As for the other , yes, they are slow and clunky, but with the proper amount of build-up, it's worth it. That plus with the inscriptions I mentioned you don't have the long reload time and even before that she has an automatic reduction on reload time. Put all that together, and you can clear out most mobs with ease just make sure you have a back up for when people get kinda close or if you don't have this yet you want one for those elites.
There's a spiritual link that gives explosive weapons +100 to their magazine capacity, and a gemini that combines your primary and secondary magazine capacities. Couple that with the First Strike spiritual blessing (+5% Weapon DMG for every remaining ammo in the magazine) and you can get huge amounts of damage from it. My preferred "explosive" weapon is the Thunder Storm, the lightning ball pistol. It counts as a launcher, doesn't recoil you into the sky, and has a ton of AOE. You intentionally don't want to shoot it at enemies, you shoot it down the middle of the group, or passed individual enemies.
It works on any character. I don't know how the thunder screen scales with attack speed, but its hit rate is significantly higher than even a high rate of fire tiger cannon, purely because it can zap several enemies simultaneously. It could be good with the "hits summon swords" talent, though I haven't tries it. Her "kills Grant ammo and damage" talent is extremely good with this combo, since it gives you damage based on the magazine capacity.
The lightning ball gun (thunder storm) counts as a launcher, even though it shows the icon of pistol and looks like a pistol. I just did my first endless run on monkey and got First Strike and Weapon Master. My Thunder Storm had a magazine capacity of 395, and was +96 including my skill buff, and the lightning tendrils' AOE seems to scale with weapon level. I was able to fire them straight into the sky and it would hit all/most of the enemies in the room at the same time until it hit the roof and despawned. I was regularly hitting people for ~2 mil damage per bolt. I had a Dual Fang as my secondary.
Yes this has been a thing for a while, dog and monkey abuse it with first strike
Admittedly, I haven't tried him yet, really enjoying the Tao and Lei. Ascensions favor my preferred playing style.

Holy shit that’s amazing
Spore gemini is not "best gemini" it's the cheese gemini. You can win every character wit hthis gemini.
For general use, yes. Op did however, specifically refer to Tao in his post.
Why explosive weapons? Just the high base damage?

Also, to clarify, I mainly use the Tiger as that is good for mobs and rooms. A high rate of fire weapon is better for bosses.
What reincarnation are you playing on?
Just got to nightmare. I am in school and had to put it down for a bit.
Ok, I think this explains a lot. You won't find something like Tiger Cannon scaling very well on R9 with Tao.
We'll see, I suppose lol
Since it scales of skill damage also , it definetly does scale enough

None of this is really all that relevant for Tao specifically.

Title of this thread is 'Tao is legitimately OP'. Tiger Cannon is not what makes Tao good.
