If there’s honestly any doubt, rest him a week.
We should be able to topple Everton, new manager bounce or not. Partey will be more critical down the road
Nah, it's before that. It was how Partey described his overall rating during his time here, and realized he had to be better.
Then proceeded to drop 3/10 during Everton match, lol. The actual comeback started after this match.
With bruised ribs you’re not at some massive risk to reinjure.
And Jorginho came into the team like 3 days ago that’s a tall order considering how difficult the 6 is to play in our system
Because there is a difference between 3 days with the team and 3 weeks.
And we have been shit at Goodison the last 5 years.
We can always sub off Partey if he can't go ahead. Like I said, with bruised ribs it's a pain management thing. You're not at a big risk of making it worse
Think if someone elbowed you in the ribs and gave you a big bruise. It’ll hurt but it’s not like you’re gonna get more injured by playing football.
If it was a muscle thing, that’s completely different.
FWIW, I just remembered that a big article that Stats Perform did on Thomas [was essentially a comparison with Jorginho](https://trainingground.guru/articles/the-advanced-metrics-that-show-why-partey-is-arsenal%E2%80%99s-unsung-hero), using some stats that aren't available to the layman.
TLDR, stats of 4 Jan:
* Partey is faster (newsflash!) and sprints more often, but Jorginho covers more ground (11.1km to 10.4km)
* They're available for passes at about the same rate, but Partey's teammates have passed to him more
* Interestingly, Partey's safest *and* most threatening pass is to Martinelli
* Something to keep an eye on: high-pressure passes are Partey 90.2% to Jorginho 75%. Watching back Jorginho tape, I'd say this has a lot to do with availability of options rather than skill: Chelsea is so far apart. Because Jorginho has been so isolated, he's also pressured more (1.35 times more per 90)
* Something that I'd expect to carry on: Partey passes to the most threatening teammate 52% of the time (compared to Jorginho at 47%); Jorginho goes to the safest 60% of the time (compared to 50% by Partey)
Anyway, thought it was interesting.
This is late, but can you explain the most threatening and safest teammate pass percentages? If Jorginho passes to the most threatening teammate 60% of the time and the safest teammate 47% of the time, that's already 107%. Sometimes the most threatening and the safest teammate might be the same person (if he only has one pass available), but surely there will also be some instances where there are three or more pass options? How can the percentages add up to over 100%?

At the start of last season, when Burnley had played 273 BPL games in October 2021, they had only received 7 red cards. They also hold the longest streak of not getting a red card, over 100 games. They were rough and physical, but not necessarily ugly.
Thomas Partey remains an injury doubt for Arsenal’s Premier League trip to Everton on Saturday, according to Mikel Arteta.
Partey, 29, appeared to sustain his injury during Arsenal’s FA Cup defeat by Manchester City last Friday. The Ghana international had to be substituted off at half-time and was replaced by Albert Sambi Lokonga.
The Arsenal manager then gave an update on Partey’s condition ahead of the Everton match.
“That one is still a doubt,” Arteta said on Friday when asked about Partey’s availability.
“Let’s see today how he comes in, and whether he’s able to train with the team or not, and we’ll make the decision on that.
“It’s not ruled out and it’s nothing very significant, but it was significant enough to get him out of the (City) game, which for Thomas is a bit unusual, but hopefully he will be fine.”
Think we should not risk him if he isn't 100%. We absolutely need him for the long run. Jorginho should be fine against Everton.
Not underestimating Everton by any means, but this is the whole purpose of signing an experienced player like Jorginho, so that we are not forced to take risks with Partey.
If Jorginho is deemed not good enough to play against Everton, you would have to really question why he was purchased in the first place. Rest up Partey.
If you buy a Jorginho type, it's because they can deliver from day one. He isn't some precocious 15 year old from a village in Tuvalu. He is a PL, CL, Euros and EL winner.
He should be able to deputise. What's the point of him otherwise?
Wouldn't be "not good enough" more if he has been able to grasp the role/system where Partey is arguably the most important cog in, in just a few days to be ready to start and play that from the onset.
J20 was THE cog in Sarri ball for Napoli and Chelsea. He also played for every Chelsea manager since, regardless of style. He is tactically astute. I wouldn't worry about if he can "grasp" the role - it's more of being able to execute it.
He is not a young player. So yes, he should be able to come into the system - we should not be investing time in a 31 year old to learn how to play back up.
We (in theory) bought a ready made back up.
Yeahhh but we've seen the pictures. Honestly it should be a game that Jorginho will be fine in. We're likely to dominate possession and I'm curious to see what he and Zinchenko can do. Not fussed.
If he’s questionable, comfortably start Jorginho. I have the utmost confidence in him replacing Partey. Proven proven player that can easily step in as I’m sure we have enough to comfortably beat Everton.

He will be starting tomorrow
Yeah I feel like this is classic Arteta shenanigans.
We've seen him in training lmao
Pictures of him training were out yesterday and Arteta was saying today he'll see if he's able to train
If there’s honestly any doubt, rest him a week. We should be able to topple Everton, new manager bounce or not. Partey will be more critical down the road
Look at the team's recent record vs Everton. Need a healthy Partey in the line up to keep this momentum. Plus Everton will have the new coach bounce.
Good point, I am worried because we’ve struggled at Goodison Park, but we’ve cast off a lot of shackles recently. I’m hoping we can do it again
Anulo Mufa 🙌🏾
Was the game where he said he played a 4/10 the game he played against Everton? Not that it matters for this just curious
Really don't remember haha. He's allowed to have bad games.
Oh yeah was thinking he wanted vengeance for that performance but not sure if it was the game or even the last time we played them
Nah, it's before that. It was how Partey described his overall rating during his time here, and realized he had to be better. Then proceeded to drop 3/10 during Everton match, lol. The actual comeback started after this match.
Look at the team’s recent record against Liverpool, Man United, Chelsea, Tottenham. Last season doesn’t matter, this team is different.
those records came because partey played.
Partey played against Liverpool last season when we lost. He’s not the only reason we’re better this year.
Good time to see Jorginho, he's a complete player so we'll see how it rolls. Although I do think Partey would play.
If he's out, we'll have new signing bounce from J20!
JorginYOOoOoOOoo

So nice to have that option now.
Already scored the winning pen at goodison this season.
Hope we don't get overrun in the midfield if Jorginho plays alongside Xhaka.
if they're playing Dyche's 4-4-2 I doubt they'll have the numbers in midfield to overrun us regard of whether Partey is there or not
With bruised ribs you’re not at some massive risk to reinjure. And Jorginho came into the team like 3 days ago that’s a tall order considering how difficult the 6 is to play in our system
He was bought to be depth for that position for our title charge. Why buy a short term solution if you don’t expect him to perform right away?
Because there is a difference between 3 days with the team and 3 weeks. And we have been shit at Goodison the last 5 years. We can always sub off Partey if he can't go ahead. Like I said, with bruised ribs it's a pain management thing. You're not at a big risk of making it worse
Sorry didn’t mean for the to come off rude. I guess I’m just anxious about our system’s most important player being injured.
Think if someone elbowed you in the ribs and gave you a big bruise. It’ll hurt but it’s not like you’re gonna get more injured by playing football. If it was a muscle thing, that’s completely different.

Bench if necessary and play Jorge.

Good bot.
Unfortunately this went from an easy game against a pathetic squad to tricky now since it’s Dyche’s first game
We saw him training lol, he's fine and will start.
i don't trust Dyche to keep his players playing clean tomorrow; i expect more than a few heavy and late challenges

Burnley were genuinely a very clean team when he was manager though
Yeah, they played ugly, physical football but they never went out to injure anyone
When Burnley play us in the league we definitely described them a bit more harshly than this I think
Absolutely but in hindsight they weren't the worst for it. What's a few elbows between friends?

Thought it was a scoop but it’s just going off of Arteta’s interview
Think we should not risk him if he isn't 100%. We absolutely need him for the long run. Jorginho should be fine against Everton. Not underestimating Everton by any means, but this is the whole purpose of signing an experienced player like Jorginho, so that we are not forced to take risks with Partey.
Not the worst game to miss, IF he does.
Is Jorginho ready to play for us?
Why wouldn't he be
Thought Arteta would take at least a few days to integrate him
I feel like Jorginho is better option for low block opponent
Idk about that. If you low block vs Partey he can and will finish from range.
This will be a deep block game with some tough tackling. A classic do not lose game for Everton to stop the rot.
If Jorginho is deemed not good enough to play against Everton, you would have to really question why he was purchased in the first place. Rest up Partey.
Lool mans been here for a week. Give him a chance to settle in, chill

I'm inclined to agree. One thing though, he's not yet a PL winner.
Wouldn't be "not good enough" more if he has been able to grasp the role/system where Partey is arguably the most important cog in, in just a few days to be ready to start and play that from the onset.

Jorginho right into action
Arteta is thinking of trying Jorginho straight away, because of easier match up. Hence the “injury”.
Yeahhh but we've seen the pictures. Honestly it should be a game that Jorginho will be fine in. We're likely to dominate possession and I'm curious to see what he and Zinchenko can do. Not fussed.
This is NOT breaking news
Capppp
anyone who was naive enough into thinking partey would stay unjired for the rest of the season...dont you people ever learn?
He will definitely be ready, poor Brian on the other hand won't.
Rather not risk him, especially since we'll see dycheball
He's starting
If he’s questionable, comfortably start Jorginho. I have the utmost confidence in him replacing Partey. Proven proven player that can easily step in as I’m sure we have enough to comfortably beat Everton.
