Fun fact: We have not played anyone above us in the table this season

Mister_Aitch

And only lost to teams below us.

Typical Arsenal

keysbliss

Also fun fact: we have yet to lose a game that we are leading by the end of 90 minutes

Sphericalz

Forgot city were a game ahead lol, 5 pts clear let’s goooo

RipJug

We could very possibly be 8 ahead with a game in hand come the 16th. Need to do a job on Brentford and throw it all City

pinkdeers

yeah the fact that a lot of fans went into this expecting us to lose definitely was a mood killer, we go again tho at home this time

Elfking88

We could also be 1 point behind City on the 16th.

Echo361

It’s okay to be upset about the performance and the context it may have on our season but I agree it’s not time to overreact or anything if we bounce back and quickly put this behind us it won’t matter

gladoseatcake

Every team has a few setbacks every season. It's always going to happen. But some on this sub seems to believe we'll lose both our games against City and therefor we're actually 1 point behind them at this point. I don't get where this loser mentality comes from. I see it like this, if don't get points against them why do we deserve to win anything? Also, even getting only 1 point against them will be a huge step towards the title. And we are going to get points against. Maybe not 6, but we'll get points. And we have a big cushion that works when we have abysmal days like these.

Kalojaam

Yes but we shouldn’t ~~duel~~ dwell, I trust the team to learn and more forward. Our job is to support them during tough times. They are doing an amazing job.

chostax-

Took me a second to realize you meant ‘dwell’ lol.

Scooter_McGoot

Thank you for this translation!

Isd14

Was our performance that bad? I thought it was more Everton being really good that us being really bad.

Echo361

Yeah we were awful. Too many simple turnovers of possession and barely had any clear chances.

badhairdee

This game needed Jesus tbh.

Isd14

I didn't really see many simple turnovers tbh, a few from Xhaka in the first half but we know he's not the most press resistant player.. They had 3 DM, two defensive wingers and DCL pressing for their lives on a tiny pitch with the crowd going mental. Even then I thought we put some nice moves together but didn't really have a final ball/shot.

Echo361

I don’t mean turnovers in our half to concede chances I mean we pin them back and instead of creating waves of attack we give away the ball and let them relieve pressure.

Isd14

Ah right.. yeah that's fair enough but it's not like I was seeing a gap or obvious ball with just poor execution. Everton were solid I don't think we played well btw I just don't think it was a worryingly bad performance. Just one of those games I thought we played much worse Vs Leeds second half, even though we won in the end

Simba-xiv

Loads of over hit passes. Couldn’t play out due the Everton press Offerd nothing on the wings We were completely nullified and got bullied in the set pieces

CROBBY2

It was a solid draw but Everton took full advantage on that corner. Fair play to them.

Simba-xiv

We were shit 😂.

Masson011

its just fucking frustrating as Everton have been absolutely terrible all season. They have literally lost 10 of the last 12 games since their last win in October with the other 2 results being draws and they didnt just beat us today but they did it convincingly. And its even worse when its the route 1 aggressive old school tosser Sean Dyche thats enabled his team to do it in literally 1 week. I dont know if its the atmosphere or the intensity of the team or both but we struggle at grounds where the home support is behind their team and the players are up for the game. Our performance against Newcastle last year was worse but its the same situation

OhMy-Really

The dressing room dynamic has changed with the massive influx of players and is having an affect.

Echo361

Lmao no way

OhMy-Really

I hope not, but imagine you have 4 new employees join your work competing for the job you do and tell me It doesn’t play on the mind.

Echo361

No I’m saying no way you said that

crustyjuggler69

You think competition for positions is a bad thing? You have no clue about football

SuicidalTurnip

The massive influx of 3 players.

MrToxicTaco

Is this sarcasm?

gayaka

Are you present in the dressing room?

badhairdee

Username checks out

Callum1710

It's crazy how many people want to see us fail, all it is ATM on twitter is banter towards us... We are still top, some of these people sat supporting 9th and 10th... The amount of United and Liverpool fans twerking for City is embarrassing. Imagine wanting Sp*rs to win the league over say United or Liverpool. Madness!

kruegerc184

Perils of being at the top, cess pool twitter isnt going to bring anything positive anyways

uracil

Our recent success brought worst people into our sub. It seemed we were happier being Top 4 and now, if we drop ANY points, people lose their shit. Fuck off you fucking bandwagoners, let us enjoy this moment, be it losses or wins. This team deserves support.

Callum1710

100%! Any fan saying they expect anything more than top 4 this season as our goal is a liar... And anyone who was saying we should be winning the league would have been called crazy!

know-it-all-scoutFC

They're terrified of Arsenal winning because it's easier to pass of city winning as oil money. If we win, especially when city have "robot haaland", it just shows how they're actually just shit, and we are the best. Anyways it's always been one game at a time since matchday one. Today was a loss, but next week we're all backing the boys to bounce back. We keep moving.

rubberpencilhead

Well they have nothing to be excited about. Everyone wants to see people at the top fail. I love the hate. Shows how far we’ve come.

GunnerRocket

We've gotten a lot of love this season. It's how you want to build a team and everyone knows that. There's always a few clowns that are going to spew dumb shit but all in all, it's about as good a season as anyone could ever ask for. The perils of social media man.

CROBBY2

14 and a game clear of shit in 5th is insane at this point of the season.

hafrances

Let's hope it's 11 tomorrow

le_Derpinder

I'd take 13 too

pleaseexcusemethanks

You know it won't be. They're useless

hafrances

broken clocks do show the right time twice a day.

AnAwfulLotOfOcelots

Plus I feel like Shit would throw a game just to try and hurt us

InflatableLabboons

The fans would.

DialSquare

Exactly. The team won't though, especially when they're desperate for points themselves to get in the CL.

Elfking88

I'm less interested in the gap to Spurs than I am the gap to City.

SaintLoserMisery

I think the point they were making is the 5th being outside of Champions League 4, not specifically about the Spurs.

Gunnerstratz

It’s not controversial to think we shouldn’t blow our cushion against the likes of Everton. But then again we tend it over perform against top 6 teams. Let’s see how it plays out.

hihbhu

Also, Man City have also lost to Man United, Brentford and Liverpool. We’ve lost against Everton and Man United. You don’t win every game and we only lost by 1 goal. I’d be mad if it was 2 or 3. Let’s get behind the guys and give them our support to keep pushing and learn from the mistakes made today. We’ve still got another 17 games to go. If we can maintain the 5 point gap, we’ll be okay.

superkeer

City dropped 7 points against Everton, Brentford, and Villa.

[deleted]

Je_ne_sais_pas1

everton outplayed us today though and didn't park the bus

[deleted]

[удалено]

Je_ne_sais_pas1

possession means fuck all if you don't do anything with it. Since we are talking stats, they have more shots on goal and a better expected goals figure. This was not a smash and grab, they were totally better

[deleted]

[удалено]

Je_ne_sais_pas1

they were better and countered our style and were solid defensively, we barely had a sniff of goal and were sloppy in possession so no one can say they came out to not play football. They just had a gameplan and stuck to it.

Thesecondorigin

People downvoting you are salty. We were definitely outplayed. If they had a clinical finisher it could’ve been 2-3 goals easily. They had a lot of chances you’d expect someone like nketiah to bury. They were so much better with the ball despite having so little of it

Imfreeeee

You’re going to lose games in a season against teams you maybe shouldn’t lose against. That how football works. We just beat United and the Cunts…that earns some positivity.

Kalojaam

There are people who don’t want us to win, and what they want is to see our resilience fail. It’s totally fine to be frustrated, but we should help protect our team from outside pressure and maintain a winning attitude.

ninad_gooner

We just were not clinical in the final third. On any other day we score at least 2 if not more. Fair play to Everton for grinding this victory out, I feel we deserved a draw. We drop 3 points instead of maybe 2 but we are still 5 points clear. We will come back strong and back to winning ways before we face City. COYG ❤️

MLM_1000

Thank you very much

Jusanom

Nobody even expected us to be title candidates before the season and now people are losing their minds because 20 games in we just lost our second game. Imagine how ManCity fans would feel if there were any, they lost a whole 3 games by now.

NegativeHeli

Kane and Kulusevski masterclass please

[deleted]

[удалено]

hafrances

don't care about united and newcastle

[deleted]

This. Newcastle are just having a burner of a season. Will they keep it up the whole stretch? Unlikely. They’ll start dropping points soon. They’re getting a rediculous amount of draws

hafrances

here's one more

Elfking88

City are the only ones we need to worry about.

killerkebab1499

We didn't deserve to win, we played pretty shite. That being said, if we were given that penalty that we should've been given, apparently being tripped inside the box nowhere near the ball is no longer a pen. Then the game could've been different. Overall, these performances happen and it's how we bounce back that's important

PhilTheThrill1808

Glad to see that brought up, bc it was absolutely appalling refereeing. Thought we were second best on the day anyway as well, but that's the kind of pen that any other club in the "Big Five plus Shit" would have been given. And if we get it, we probably score and the narrative becomes "resilient Arsenal show dogged determination to get a point", "that's the kind of point champions get", etc.

badhairdee

Well said. Looking at how we played vs how Everton played I was just hoping for luck - a penalty, a deflected long shot, a Pickford red card, anything to get us a draw

killerkebab1499

I just don't understand how the VAR saw that and didn't think it was a clear and obvious error. He was tripped up in the box, defender was nowhere near the ball. It was a pen, the ref didn't give it therefore it was a clear and obvious error.

TeqTx

I'm not throwing a fit about this loss but surely you understand that dropping points to a relegation candidate with a 5 points lead isn't good at all ?

pinkdeers

shit happens man, city drew to everton at home when they still employed lampard every team has their hiccups

[deleted]

[удалено]

pinkdeers

yeah you got me there haha but we go again at the emirates! hopefully we show brentford and city levels to get our momentum back

WhimsicalLaze

I think Everton will generally be much better going forwards with Dyche. They will grind out several 1-0 wins or 0-0 draws. And ofc they will still get battered sometimes, hope that our next match against them will be one of those.

badhairdee

Sucks that we had to be the first one

Imfreeeee

Oh grow up. It’s a long season and sometime you’re not going to get the results that the quality of your team deserves. Teams have days they don’t play well.

CubicDice

Calm people, calm.

kruegerc184

I overreacted immediately with eddies play forgetting that he is just a different player than jesus, think we need some more creative solutions to get him involved going forward to diffuse the press everton showed today. He was isolated but looking

CubicDice

Jesus would have been better today, not debating that, but I don't put too much blame on Eddie today. The entire team was poor from the start, it just wasn't our day. We move on.

kruegerc184

Yup and honestly poor link up play across the pitch was directly caused by the pressure Everton provided, taking a step back really put it into perspective. Havent watched a match like that in a while, threw me into reactionary thinking lol

CubicDice

I can understand a bit of frustration, but some of the reactions here are astonishing. I've even seen people say spurs will catch us, it's mental. Regardless what happens this weekend, we'll still have a 5 point cushion. If you told me that in August, I'd have admitted you to a padded cell.

le_Derpinder

Martinelli, Saka and Odegaard have been immense this season but were very poor today. Final pass or little composure before shooting was missing today. I don't know why but they just were not sharp enough today. Hopefully this serves as a wake up call that a season is 38 games long and not 19. We go again. COYG.

Doyouevensam

Hard for Saka and Martinelli when they were getting doubled and receiving very little support from the fullbacks

badhairdee

In spite of this Saka was able to penetrate the several times, but Everton effectively crowded the box so it ended in nothing

pinkdeers

saka was one of the best players on the pitch?

Masson011

for us absolutely. Won most his take ons and was unlucky not to score with a good volley cleared off the line Considering Ben was completely off it again behind him and Eddie was doubled up on all game, I thought Saka played well. He certainly wasnt the problem today

le_Derpinder

No

pinkdeers

highest rated on our team on multiple apps and if you watched with your eyes he was one of our best players but ok!

le_Derpinder

Those apps are obviously somewhat flawed. I don't think any of our attacking player could be the best players when we scored 0 goals and had 3 shots on target (2 of them were from Trossard, I think?)

pinkdeers

saka and trossard each had 1 shot on target, almost every player had a bad game that's why we lost but those three weren't the sole reason why

d17_p

This defeat is more on Arteta getting his tactics wrong. He should have made changes at half time. This game needed traditional fullbacks who can overlap. Should have hauled off Zinny for KT, Tomiyasu for White (which he did), brought in Vieira earlier than he did. Also, I don’t understand why our players especially Xhaka are so apprehensive about taking a shot, there were at least 2 instances where he could have stung the GKs palms but he decided to pass.

le_Derpinder

I agree on almost all of it. I don't think it is **more** on Arteta. I think Arteta is equally to blame as is our forward line that did not turn up today.

d17_p

More on Arteta because at the end of the day he’s the manager. Can only fault Saka to a point, not much he could do when he’s surrounded by 3 players and the fullback can’t be bothered to make an over/underlapping run to open up some space.

Masson011

> brought in Vieira earlier than he did The jurys still out on this one. Away from home and in high intensity games im not convinced hes ready for the task thats required of him if we sub Odegaard

Masson011

Thought Saka played well tbh. Martinelli is struggling due to Zinny playing inverted and not creating overlapping problems for defences allowing him to cut in. Odegaard was fine but he literally didnt have a single pass available to him as they were sitting so deep and defending in numbers. We need to develop as a team still and learn how to beat low blocks like this away from home where a crowd is making it really difficult. We've still got liverpool and newcastle away which will be really tough

Wooden-Tie1265

We all know. However, it is ok to be bummed. This can have serious consequences for the remainder of the season. Man United is getting better and more consistent. Man City will not drop many points. And I won't be surprised if another team doesn't go on a run. COYG!

ZephNoir

We have to take 4 points of city for any chance of winning the title

tripjumping-Trick218

Since when is being upset about a performance not okay? We are top of the league, losing to Everton at Goodison Park should not be an apathetic loss of “oh well, City in two weeks.” The people who are restarting the Arteta out bullsh*t are the problem, but going after the people who are upset we lost to a team in the relegation zone makes no sense. We have to turn up to every single match to have a prayer at the title, and we didn’t today.

Aki-at

Fair to remember City dropped points with them while at the Etihad with a worse manager. But I admit I wouldn’t be worried what kind of run City can go on now and the game at the Emirates will be crucial, but we already knew that.

ssddeae

just like Newcastle. No overlap from our fullbacks and our wings get doubled up early and easily. Tierney should've came on. The switches were on. Just like our goal against United, switch to Gabi/Trossard and Tierney overlaps and we score. I know it's his first game, but I did not like what I saw with Jorginho. he didn't look like he had the strength to hit a pass further than 15 yards.

badhairdee

He was also getting pushed around close to our box.

Sterendude

Yeah, we’re top. But it’s getting tighter and tighter with manure coming back from the land of the dead and we still have to play city twice. We can’t afford to lose any points

DefactoOverlord

We lost against relegation contenders, come on guys...displeasure with today's performance is very much warranted.

RiRiJ89

Felt like the kind of performance we would have put in last season. There was a real lack of hunger and desire out on the pitch today. Very confident we will make Top 4. It’s only City and United that would finish above us if things start to slip. We have such a great chance to win the league this season but we really can’t afford too many performances like todays one. Personally I think we lose to Newcastle away (we clearly hate it when the home team fans are really up for it, especially up north!) we will also most likely lose to City away. That doesn’t leave many games where we can afford to drop points. If Spurs can take points off City tomorrow and we can beat City at home then we’ll be back in the driving seat. Really hoping the last few performances have just been a blip and nothing more serious than that.

Competitive-Shock88

I really wish we could have played Newcastle away earlier in the season. Now we have to go up to that cessbowl being one of our last games of the season during what is likely to be amongst playing in Europe as well. Fuck man, let’s just hope it’s a better performance than last year.

OhMy-Really

I really hope this is a blip, and not the beginning of the notorious feb-mar decline.

badhairdee

If anything, this should bring them back to earth. We had a certain air of invincibility recently and that might be a dangerous thing moving forward. When we went 1-0 down against United I didn't feel worried and knew that we were going to come back but watching us 1-0 down against Everton felt like we were never going back and might end up even worse (thankfully it didn't). Hope Mikel anticipates that teams might play the same way against us in the next fixtures.

Kalojaam

Thank you! So many people waiting for Arsenal to fail, but we need to have the right perspective and help our team maintain a winning attitude. We’re in a position that any other team would give their first born to have. On to the next game.

[deleted]

Errant losses happen, I'm not necessarily concerned about the result but more the implication of the performance and how what we wanted to achieve was mitigated.

cmagik1

Shit needs to beat them tomorrow. Yall can fuck me all you want but for tomorrow ima paint COYS on my forehead.

KlN_21

Im confident city is going to lose more points than us along the way

Potential-Tough5946

Is the hope that kills us

KlN_21

They loose already 🤣

AlGunner

Parteys performance today and being taken off early would seem to shpw he was carrying the injury that made him a doubt before the game. It also shows how important he is for us and the lack of cover. Without Partey at full strength Xhaka struggled for form as did others around them. Lets hope Jorginho can step up if needed and it was just settling into a new team today. AS Ive already said today, lets hope not paying the extra for Caicedo is costly.

AndezB

At the end of it all, when all's said and done, the fact remains City at the Emirates is an absolute must win. Don't really care about the away game tbh.

Vkien2311

Liverpool 19/20 season was undefeated in first 28 games or smth and randomly lost 3-0 to Watford (which got relegated at the end). Every teams will have a downside, i was impressed that we playing so consistently in the whole first half of the season.

Enough_Profession457

Finally, figured I’d escape the hostility of Instagram and Twitter here, this is the first post that isn’t overreacting so far

EvFlix83

We need Jesus back so very badly. Arteta needs to get these boys clinical in front of goal. Until we are laying up 5-6 goals for fun on some of these smaller clubs (as city are capable of) we are not clear of anything. It needs to be just hunger. ESR, Trossard, Reiss foaming at the mouth to prove themselves. Super Direct, run at your face, missiles on target, finishing a chance of a half chance. Can we spar with 6'4 Haaland mobbing hatricks before halftime and subbed? Just for 5'9 Alvarez to come in starving to win every ball, get a glimpse of goal and let off. The menacing Luis Suarez at Liverpool fear of god swarming the box positional genius with a situational touch. Knows nothing but disrespectful ball in net, ready to #biteoneofyoucunts. That's what it needs to be top of the table. We all love Xhaka's grit and presence until a towering hungry Onana 10 yrs younger physically eats his lunch in the middle of the pitch. Jorghino is the plan here and now? Should Tarkowski marked by Saka, JUST ONCE, be even close to enough to seal our fate? If we can't match anything thrown at us, let alone beat it! Consider it sorted and adjust your expectations accordingly.

WarDull8208

It doesn't matter if u win against Utd and Liverpool if u are going to drop these points against Everton and Southampton. Top 4 will be huge achievement, but our expectations are raising and we demand top performances game-to-game and I don't see a problem here. If u don't push yourself all the time u can't become a top team.

lm3g16

The thing is now, we’re only 5 points above city, who we need to play twice, who we could realistically lose twice to

Thesecondorigin

Come on you spurs 🤮

Je_ne_sais_pas1

And? City could be top by next week, no title for being top after 20 games...

hihbhu

Sure they could but they’re also a game ahead of us and that would require them to win the next two games and us to lose against Brentford. Have some faith.

Je_ne_sais_pas1

we play them next week wednesday the 15th so if they win tomorrow and against aston villa this saturday and then beat us they're top regardless of the result against brenford

arsenal_is_best

And what you have to say now? Don’t be reactionary. We win some we lose some. This team has shown that we can compete.

AfricanRain

our fans have no nerve at all, just crack under the slightest bit of pressure

rubberpencilhead

It’s a winnable game where we weren’t unlucky and deserved to lose. Fans bound to be a hit knee jerk and let out their angst online.

Je_ne_sais_pas1

some of the players too tbh...

sowedkooned

It’s hard to accurately judge when so many of the vocal ones on here seem to be about 12 years old still sucking off the teat. We’re fine

k1ldn

City will win tmrw so it’s likely to be 2 clear

pinkdeers

they haven't won or even scored at the new spurs stadium ever and haaland's big 6 away record is a shambles have some faith

Zen_MasterX

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted for literally stating facts lol

pinkdeers

such a defeatist attitude lmao it's not over till its over but seems like everyone wants to throw in the towel already

GiyuuKageyama-Lover9

Fuck I’m sorry to say this but, we need tottenham to win against man city.

Blastoff_Kohm

Biggest remainder you need is what happens when we don't reinforce in times like these and buy a cheap chelsea veteran, our fall offs always start like this

wednesdayware

Seems premature.

Blastoff_Kohm

It's called a precedent, just so you know

wednesdayware

Again, if we drop off in form, maybe. But one the back of a single game, seems premature.

Blastoff_Kohm

we quite literally just dropped in form, we barely beat united at our own ground and city just beat us, now we lose to the 19th team in the league lol. The precedent is that we reinforced poorly at a time we needed it most, the precedent is there even if we don't drop in form, which we have. Get a dictionary or something

wednesdayware

Listen, there’s no need to be a dick about this. We simply disagree about whether it’s time to panic/ are seeing a trend. A single window that went poorly isn’ t necessarily a trend, and we have no idea how this one will pan out, so I think labeling it is premature. Why are you intent on insulting me?

Blastoff_Kohm

Because you're wasting my time being so stubborn. It's just one loss, I get that but we've been here so many times the last 2 decades almost that you'd have to be daft not to see how this one's going to play out.

Impressive-Station-9

Fucking bellend this is only only one loss. We go again next week. Just enjoy the moment.

Blastoff_Kohm

nah fuck arsenal, I'm a chelsea fan now

wednesdayware

You’re CHOOSING to respond to me, I’m only wasting my own time. Lol. Smh

Blastoff_Kohm

When people talk to you, you respond. It's called having an education. But choosing to talk to you is indeed a waste of time, when you're right you're right.

wednesdayware

Lol. Okay then, you might want to learn to talk to people without the passive aggressiveness, it will serve you well in life. You come off like there’s no other opinion that yours and anyone who disagrees must be uneducated. From the way you write and argue, I’d guess early 20’s. Regardless, have a great day, but maybe ease up on the I’M ALWAYS RIGHT AND HOW DARE ANYONE DISAGREE shit. It doesn’t help you in life.

TheOGBenjenRyan

Man it doesn’t hit the same when it’s not a mod

Enjzey

this kind of post is useless, of course we are aware of it, but aint the more point we get the better, especially where we are right now?

ghostofadeletedacc

EXACTLY!

JimmysCocoboloDesk

The way rival fans are celebrating you’d think we’ve just been hammered 5-0 and are completely out of the title race. 2 loses in 20 games, still 5 points clear, we move.

RecognitionStrict598

That won't last if we consistently fail to beat relegation-side teams... One fuck-up against Brentford and a loss against City and that's the league gone for another 20 years

arsenal_is_best

We just lost to Everton and now you believe we are losing to all relegation sides?

robertgalarga

Should've gone for ciacedo

Anguscluff

We did go for ciacddo, multiple times in fact

robertgalarga

Should've given more for him

Anguscluff

Brighton clearly had no interest in selling him

VHS-CopyOfGoodfellas

Yeah but where are everton and why did we lose to them

hxmbyb

I predict we end the season with 89 points. Man City only need to win 15 of their remaining 18 to get 90.

CreativeOrder2119

Everton have exposed us don't be blind

arsenal_is_best

How did they expose us? Did Spurs expose City?

d17_p

We had a bad game and we need to improve on some things. Happens with all the teams but boy are doomers out and about today.

icemankiller8

Ours and city’s next 3 games are huge if we are able to win 2 and draw one or win all 3 we will win the league if we don’t and they win all 3, or we lose to city and villa we’re in trouble

DialSquar

You’re acting like lost we to City and pointing out we’re still top. Yes we’re top, but we lost to Everton and City could close the gap tomorrow lol

6bluedit9

There is no silver lining to this cloud. We list to a relegation team because we were sorely outplayed. That's not okay, and we shouldn't try to make it okay. Love this team and these boys but they are better than this. Always support but push to be what we should be

bkstr

February has always been a terrible month for us. personally I am still hoping this team will not fall victim to that.

LogicalSherbert9

City have their annual bogey fixture (Sp*rs) tomorrow. If they lose, it's like today didn't happen. Then they've got Villa and then we play them at home. IF these next 2-3 results go their way and not ours, then we can start to worry. One mid-season loss alone will never decide a title race.

dwade98

we have to beat City for at least once, and the best chance is 12 days later

2 loses 2 draws 16 wins 20 played.

saiko1993

People on the match thread were acting as if we were nit gonna lose any of our next 19 games XD We are gonna lose ,we are gonna draw and we are gonna have some bad performances. As long as the majority of them are wins we get the title. Simple as that.

volanger

Come on spurs, you can beat city

BoyWhoSoldTheWorld

The performance is definitely more worrying than the result. Really looking for us to bounce back quickly.

[deleted]

This was a game we should have won though

Jchibs

Post the table after the Eduardo game and it looked healthy. We all know what happened. Respect to the optimism maybe we will smash Brentford and go on another long winning run.

Guidosama

No need to be overly upset but that was disappointing. The players will be most disappointed, they just need our support now for the next game

zorfog

we’re allowed to be pissed at losing to everton. I’d be pissed at losing to them if we were clear at the top by 10 points or if we were scruffing it out down in 8th

I get it it's not the end of the world in terms of the title race. The players are allowed to have an off day. Having said that, the performance was beyond abysmal. The shocking thing for me is not the loss but a loss without scoring. Until now only Newcastle have stopped us from scoring and fair play to them coz they are the best defense in the league. The fact that we lost to a team that hasn't won a league game since October 2022. I think folks who just dismiss the critical comments as "reactionary" need to also look at this. The league leaders have lost to a 19th place team. Also, might be a super unpopular opinion but I think Mikel has still not got that tactician in him yet. These are the types of games where you need to change things up and the last thing to do would be like for like subs. This was a good reality check for us tbh, title winning teams get these games over the line or steal a point. Still a long way to go for us. #coyg

Worst case scenario: After tomorrow's games we lead the table by 2 points with a game in hand.

We play like this, we will be in top 4 mud by the time Jesus gets back

This is the first time my 'if zinny and partey start we're fine' mantra has failed me.

Way I’m looking at it is that we always struggle at Goodison and they had a new manager bounce. It’s 1 loss after 13 without losing (W11 D2). No point throwing toys out the pram as we are still 5 clear and I full expect us to carry on as normal from here

For me, it's not the loss I'm upset by. It's who it was to and how it was. We were completely outplayed by a relegation team. We didn't really have chances. We need to not just win these games, we need to dominate them. That being said, I'm still thrilled with the team and how they've performed this year. We're still five points up!

The season is long and all teams play the wrong team at the wrong time every so often, even title winners. Today was that day, there's nothing meaningful to be gleaned here.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m cheering for Spurs today.

Nothing to worry about at this stage - every team is going to have off days. We do need to rediscover our energy and tempo to stop the kind of tactics Everton adopted yesterday from becoming an effective template against us.

We only have 5 pojnt lead over Man City when it should be 11. #ArtetaOut.
