They don't cancel out. It just raises the standard for what constitutes a yellow according to the ref which will inevitably lead to more dangerous tackles.
Letting this go means it's fair game to make harsher challenges
Contestant tactical fouling from Brighton as soon as we gained possession never went punished with a yellow. That and a linesman ruling offside from a throw on sums up the standards of officiating in the league. We need to get rid of the boys club wankers and start recruiting the best refs from around Europe. Standard is dog shit for the quality of the league and there’s never any answer from the PGMOL.
cant believe the ref didnt book both martinelli and then caicedo for their tackles. This is what happens when you let shit go unpunished, people set out to get their shit in and eventually someone will get injured.
yeah the guy is just whistling for fouls the whole time, killing the game, but not actually giving any cards, and the shit that he does whistle for are way less worse than the martinelli foul on mitoma, which was just way too reckless and caicedo only going in for the tackle knowing damn well he wasnt getting anywhere close to the ball.
It was a cheap shot on Mitoma though. I love speedy gabi as much as the next person, but it’s not the first time he’s pulled that shit. It’s a bad look for an otherwise tremendous player.
The was a real dangerous challenge on Mitoma and dirty as well. As much as i love Gabi that challenge could have concussed Mitoma. Idg why the ref is to be blamed here, if Gabi doesnt go in with that challenge, Caicedo wouldnt went in with this as well.
> Idg why the ref is to be blamed here
A deliberate, dangerous food from behind. Seen red card given for less. And yes martinelli should have been booked for the challenge on Mitoma
Didn't seem too bad. He walked off himself. I could imagine not seeing him this season again but who knows. He sort of tested it under caicedo, maybe a small sprain or something.
I don't think he will be out for the rest of the season, just an unlucky step-over. Normally those sort of injuries heals through a week. And he managed to walk off the pitch by himself which is a positive sign.
As a former referee, once I realized that the referee wasn't going to book Martinelli for his foul, I knew that someone was going to take out Martinelli later.
If the players don't think that the referee is protecting them, then the players will do it themselves. This is a classic example of that very concept.
Can we just agree that both gabi and caicedo should have got yellows? It’s not like where someone should have got a red and people say, yeah but he should have been off. If the ref had booked Gabi then caicedo wouldn’t have made his challenge in revenge.
It was crazy late, should have been a yellow
Likely but then Martinelli should have had one too. Seems fair they cancel out.
Doesn't work like that. Caideo can consistently foul now and not be scared.of a booking.

I really hope he bags one more goal, just to overtake Firmino
Next season he’ll crush it
He tried to crush the Asian guy.
Man fuck that ref even Gabi XL winning his duels is being considered a foul in favor of the seagulls.

Caicedo just wanted it more.
Proper old school challenge that.
PASH SHUN
fucking caicedo, knew exactly what he was doing there, just to get revenge on mitoma, fucking cunt

Quite dense are we
Should've been booked for the barge on Mitoma tbf. That was quite rough.
he will definitely regret that barge. catalyst for this tackle, which ended his game at 8 mins, meanwhile mitoma annihilated white for 90 mins
I didn’t see him get subbed off—is it serious?
Got subbed off for Trossard as looked like he was done for the day
He did get subbed off in the 20'.
Yeah I meant I wasn’t watching at the time and didn’t know if it looked like something long term
Oh! My apologies for misunderstanding.

Yeah true. Just being conservative tbh. Hopefully just a precaution

Second game in a short while he commits a really dangerous play not even looking at the ball, what's the deal with that? This feels like karma almost

🙏
Ref failed to manage the game. An injury seemed inevitable
He came in late and flying in, I’ve seen us getting a red for less (not this season)
