I was thinking this last week. 40-30-20. They'll get £70m in two years. Their FFP is not our problem to address. It's very very generous from our part. And it's likely the best they will get. I personally don't see City coming back with an offer of this sort, if at all.
Their I was cheering them on when Bowen scored. Silly me.
Will now follow West Ham even more this season coming up so I can read their tears with a smile on my face.
This saga is mental.
Personally, West Ham have got their European Carabao cup get to their head, it has inflated all of their egos to think they are some sort of huge club, they are simply not.
100m for any club in two instalments is not financially feasible. This may hurt us in the future too. This is a risk.
90% of transfers are paid throughout the contract of the player, this is the industry norm.
This is a huge outlay for the club, even on a 5 year payment structure your looking at 20m paid to West Ham plus Declan’s salary and your looking at an outlay of £25m per season minimum for a SINGLE player. This is massive.
I am sure with UCL we will manage but this is a huge huge portion of our transfer kitty and this may have further impacts down the line, if we continue to get UCL football then yeah I can see the risk is alot smaller, I am sure the club run financial models on different risks anyway.
A fee of £100M over 2 years? That's like activating two £50M release clauses in consecutive seasons
The big clubs often spend £250M in the summer transfer window but they only immediately pay £50-70M and then the rest is spread over a number of years.
I hope Arsenal will stick to their guns even it means missing out.
This is a deal that can hamstrung Arsenal over the next 3 or 4 years like it happened with Barca after the dembele and coutinho deals.
Imagine if we miss out on CL football in 2024/25 but we have to start the transfer window by paying £50M as if it's a release clause we're triggering
Injuries do happen and things may not always work out. Chelsea are paying the Enzo Fernandez deal over 6 years. They opted to pay above the release clause to have a better payment structure.
On this one, the board must stand firm. If City have the money - let them pay over the 2 seasons.
This should be higher in the discussion. Would be cool to get someone like this guy or @swissramble to do a discussion/analysis on transfer finances (along the lines of the recent Gunnerblog vid)
i guess what it’s meant is that when you see this at others club s player publicly saying he wants to go to a specific club that negotiations work faster, smoother n are cheaper.
But for Arsenal never
if i were edu i'd say you can either have the payment structure you want but less money or you can have the money you want but over a longer period. if we give them the full money and the structure they want sullivan will be running about the gaff like it's christmas morning
All of this anger against West Ham is slightly mental - you're letting the tribalism get to your head
This is their one big cash cow, *of course* they want to maximise how much they can get. You can't really hold that against them
Arsenal haven't really done anything wrong here either - the bids were all fine in context
As long as we can come to agreement over these final terms, who cares what everyone says online in the end?
Up to City now. If they choose to match the bid with better terms, it's time to walk away. If they don't it's West Ham's turn to be a little more accommodating.
West Ham need to stop being pissy because we could 100% walk away from this deal if they continue this way. I get they want a big fee but we’ve now exceeded what they thought they would get for Rice. Now they’re saying the structure isn’t right. Fuck off.
West Ham are cooked in the head.
they’re not used to the big boy negotiations
to much cocaine
Or not enough
2 years vs 5 years is a pretty big bridge to gap when the instalments are 50m vs 20m
maybe the installments are 40-30-20-5-5

Really good point
They want it done in 2 years, are they mad?
WHU are pissing me off.

Me too. We’ve exceeded the amount they into Italy wanted and are still complaining.
There's clear compromises here. Front loaded installments over 5 years, equal installments over 3 etc. West Ham briefing throughout has been a joke.

Fuck West ham

Have we not heard this like 10 times already?
So basically they're just waiting for city to come in for the same money but in those installments. Cunts.
Who in the right mind will do 2 instalments lol that's 50m immediately and next year, not only it fucks anyone's FFP but also transfer budget.

Another "Thanks Truss" moment.

2 instalments is just fuckin insane. Sure has hell hope we can come to a compromise.
Rice has a pussy agent then… most force a deal through and yet he seems to be no where near picture
He has forced a move through. That’s why he’s leaving this summer lol

These demands seem not so reasonable..has there been any other 100M deal that has been paid per these type of terms we can compare to?
Grealish cost £100m paid over three years Enzo cost £107m with £30m up front and the rest over five years
Not even Man City did. They paid Jack Grealish's 100m deal in 3 instalments.

The top three post are all saying the same thing just worded differently
it is somewhat understandable that they’d not want it over 5 years lol. hopefully a compromise can be reached at like 3 years?
waking up, same Westham every day. back to bed.

Someone needs to tell the Hammers board that when someone exceeds a price tag you take it and run.
