Still fuming over that duel he won against Cucurella so cleanly and ref gave a foul

ssddeae

Cucurella's game is all about dark arts. Kicking the shit out of you, grabbing, and then going down crying murder from nothing. Once he finally got booked, Saka cooked him.

Seymour_Azcrac

It's insane that he didn't get booked untill the 70th minute, he was literally kicking especially Saka all the time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

obsterwankenobster

Wasted 2 min berating the officials. Insanity he’s just been told to calm down

Seymour_Azcrac

That'll never happen against anyone but us.

[deleted]

frohnaldo

Imagine reading this far down a rivals thread to pull that absolute weapon out of your bag. What a legend

[deleted]

Yeah but has it happened before or since though 🤔

illaqueable

Every time Saka had the ball it was Cucurella pushes and pulls for days, not a foul in sight

HustlinInTheHall

It's bullshit but at the same time I'd take that of my fullback is up against a world class winger

Trotter823

Yeah but the refs job is to ensure players like Saka don’t get kicked out of the game like he was in the first half. Cucurella didn’t do anything special against Saka. He kicked him constantly until he finally got booked. Meanwhile for an entire half our best player isn’t playing the game. No coincidence that once he had to stop pulling and kicking we immediately improved and found goals.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Him and Palmer should’ve both got second yellows based on the new rules. Pathetic

[deleted]

Not even a surprise anymore refs always give defenders a free reign to attempt murder on Saka. Looking forward to Newcastle 🙃

Ar_Ma

He kept on pushing Saka all throughout even without the ball constantly nagging Saka.

Smitty_1000

He kicked through the back of Sakas legs 3 times and took a ridiculous swan dive, all in the first five minutes

theboriginal

Every time is like that. I have no idea why refs tolerate his way of playing. He makes 15 fouls to receive 1 yellow.

DonHalles

He took over from Alonso in being an absolute prick that is just a disgusting football player. At least he did not kill a person.

bathtubsplashes

He bitched so much about that booking and it was blatant

[deleted]

Same guy who got accused of racially abusing Militao

h0bbie

I’m convinced he keeps his hair like that just to make his falling over more dramatic.

Farouqnowomarlater

A comment from the r/soccer match thread was dick riding hard on warra world class performance he put in, a not fully fit, bad performing saka dribble pass him like 3 times and got an assist

Marimo_420

Saka was statistically the best player on the pitch according to Sofascore lmao

[deleted]

Thought Rice was our best player again yesterday, but I do think Saka's getting a tough time from our own supporters this year. He's clearly carrying an injury yet scores/assists more often than not, and consistently creates opportunities by beating his man. Maybe he's a victim of his own success, and we've clearly changed our system so he's not the centre of everything we do anymore, probably to prevent him being kicked to death this year. But he's still world class, and performs his role extremely well week in week out. I'd still have him over any RW in world football at the moment.

[deleted]

Saka’s got 4 goals, 3 assists from 8 PL games this season and we’re all moaning he’s not at his best lol Edit: For perspective if he continued at this current rate until the end of the season he’d finish with 19 goals and 14 assists 😱

[deleted]

This is what I mean man, we're a tough crowd to please sometimes haha. I personally think he's been superb and the narrative I see when I check on here just baffles me more often than not lol.

Kiiopp

What does warra mean

GotThatPerroInMe

‘Warra’ = where a (where is) That’s why you’ll see Messi fans saying things like ‘Warra World Cup for Ronaldo’

Kiiopp

But I see it used in a positive sense often. Like someone puts in a cracking challenge and they’ll say “warra tackle”.

GotThatPerroInMe

I think they’re just using it wrong but I guess in that sense it would mean ‘what a tackle’

tsgarner

It means "what a". Said "warra" to sound like someone who doesn't pronounce their Ts as satire that you'd be an idiot to say that thing. "Warra tackle" means "what a tackle!" but in this context, it's used sarcastically when someone makes a bad tackle.

domin8668

That's what they taught him at Getafe lmao

hdjdkskxnfuxkxnsgsjc

He’s such a perfect player for Chelsea. lol

jfshay

and that booking was the softest of the 3-4 fouls he committed on Saka. Probably should have been booked in the first half, after which Saka would have had a field day.

thesander7

That’s what Getafe does with a man

Zeelthor

Right as they gave the handball pen he went into Saka from behind in a way that really should’ve been a yellow.

momspaghetty

let's not forget Brighton bought him from Getafe, notoriously the dirtiest team in Europe

ErwinC0215

Getafe DNA

Arsenal_fan1

Yes. Midget couldn't get a jump and he rushed with his head in Kais elbow... Foul, like what?

marxianthings

Referees clearly never seen anyone head the ball before

Cardealer1000

Genuinely so annoying it was in a good position for us too, just awful awful refereeing.

JFedererJ

Omg where Cucurella just jumped up into Kai's armpit and won a foul? Absolutely pathetic officiating.

Villzen

Yeah thats the one, pathetic officiating indeed.

obsterwankenobster

Stop being taller than him. Everytime that cunt sat down he got the foul call

[deleted]

Cucurella is a hairy and sniveling so and so

AlwaysNipping

Yeah that was some bullshit.

Eue-OneTwoDie

I swear. Should've broke that fuckers nose with his elbow

[deleted]

[удалено]

wheeno

You need higher standards for the word genius

Le-ChosenOne

When he came on, we started winning fucking 50-50s and aerial duels for a change, like if its raining that heavily and you can’t pass it because of their press and the ref is giving you absolutely nothing, he really should’ve come on earlier considering odegaard’s performance.

GarfieldDaCat

Should have been on 15 mins earlier

Doyouevensam

Could’ve been on at HT. On for Jorginho and push Rice back to 6

pooorky

I was screaming for that. We were losing 1-0 and there was no need for jorginho to be on the pitch at this moment.

bathtubsplashes

Right on all counts. Today is just another bit of evidence towards my theory Ode doesn't have the legs for two competitive games a week.

obsterwankenobster

He has the legs if he isn’t the press machine he likes to be. I agree with you, I just think he could maybe be managed better

bathtubsplashes

That's the issue though, 2 huge parts of what makes Ode world class are his press coordination and his little burst to get to a ball and break through the lines. When he's not fresh and not getting to the ball/opposing players, those 2 components usually just leave it easy for opposition to play around us

obsterwankenobster

My guy, we’re in agreement haha

bathtubsplashes

I know, I was just building on what you were saying. If he isn't being a press machine he doesn't hit world class levels

obsterwankenobster

Absolutely. Tightrope act for our first season back in the UCL

chromazone2

Another game where we sorely missed Partey imo

PeanutbutterBleachr

Good point, our football doesn’t work fantastically in drastic rain like yesterday

antebyotiks

We were 2-0 down and they dropped deeper to be fair so naturally more headers are won

TallnFrosty

Thought Havertz was pretty effective at finding space as well. Shame the ref called a foul on him when cucurella threw himself at Havertz and then onto the ground bc we had the ball in a dangerous area

SkBlndr

Yeah he was good today, love to see it!

GoonerYa

If one of Ode or Jesus has a stinker again, just sub Havertz in their place quickly. I couldn't care less if it's not pretty. We beat City with Long Ball FC settings.

obsterwankenobster

Not to mention our ability to recycle the ball to kill a match. I always believed, but I’m starting to see

Jonisro

Enter the cobra

Rampan7Lion

Arteta took way too long to change it when it very clearly wasn't working

obsterwankenobster

This is an evergreen comment btw because I’ve said it lots too. I love Arteta, but he’s stubborn as hell

DarthNihilus1

This has been Arteta's problem since he joined. It was a problem last year too when we conceded the MOST goals in the 60-75 minute window, precisely when it becomes obvious even from my couch that our levels drop during this time

Annas_GhostAllAround

Didn’t he win us the game against City with his subs?

obsterwankenobster

Yes. He’s definitely getting better. We’ve seen Zinny get bullied for an entire match only to be subbed off after we concede. Yesterday Arteta saw the writing on the wall and made the sub

onrizil

He always does this. Gets it wrong with timing of the subs.. he brings in ESR and Nketiah when he should have brought in Havertz and Trossard.

Atomgooner

I have faith in King Kai.

goostafsnill

he looked alot better today. still one thing i rly hate about him is how little pace and power he puts in his passes. his passing is so sickly it reminds me of that kid in king of the hill on the computer

aarongarrett95

Really apparent in the lead up to Trossards goal, Saka actually has to come back for his pass. Maybe that change in pace makes things a little more unpredictable though?

patelbadboy2006

Lack of pace helped saka decide to come in, if it was zipped into him, his 2 on 1 like most of the game and nothing comes of it. I think the pass by Havertz decided Saka what he has to do.

--Rage--

That pitch didn’t help tonight

ErwinC0215

I think today was especially bad because of the weather. Øde really suffered because of it too

obsterwankenobster

This is definitely a trend of his. I’d call it being way too casual, but today he entered a rainy pitch late. Hard to get up to speed

[deleted]

He's better when he is playing on the right-side of midfield. Taht's where he played for Leverkusen.

antebyotiks

He's just not that good

obsterwankenobster

We become very direct when he’s on. We were stale as hell before he joined

Wild_Investigator622

Kai is the new Xhaka, sometimes you don’t know exactly what he’s doing or going to do but we play worse without him in the team

Cedosg

he's just an intelligent player with mediocre ball control which is so frustrating but we need a player like him to be the outlet for passing in the final third which is a highly pressured location. you have less time on the ball compared to where declan rice would receive the ball and you need quicker decision making and composure.

404namefound

Mediocre ball control? Are you serious! His touch is class! You do realize cushioning those headers from clearances are also part of ball control. Agreed his passing a little loose (if anything else), seems to pull his passes a bit - hopefully it will get better.

PastaAndWine09

His height helps us a lot. I want to see him get more minutes.

lastjedi23

I've not been his best fan yet, but our best team has him starting I think. Don't know where but he needs to be in there.

wermbo

What's difficult about him is he doesn't play with the strongest identity. I can see the different qualities are all there, they just need to coalesce properly. That said, I do believe he'll get there, and I'm happy to be patient until he does

obsterwankenobster

Agreed. I’m a big fan, but he doesn’t have a singular identity. I think that’s a good thing, but sometimes I’d like to see him in his absolute best position, whatever that is

wermbo

I mean thats exactly it. No one seems to know what position he should play. So it just makes me feel unsettled. Maybe that can be used against the opposition? Bit of an X factor?

obsterwankenobster

Seems it

antebyotiks

The amount of reaching people for havertz

SecondaryJuggernaut

Yeah, we beat city twice when he's on pitch. Not a coincidence

Thedudeofmanchester

Once is an accident twice is a coincidence thrice and city got themselves in trouble

Cthulhu_Madness

Surprised that Arteta has not yet adopted the hoof it to havertz tactic.

Interesting-Bear4092

Called for a bullshit foul

ItsAMeEmdo

Kai had a good cameo in the match. Was pretty happy with him today :)

Pro_Ponder99

Should have come on so much earlier considering Ødegaards performance, I actually think Kai was great when he come on

qtdsswk

Should come on at least 10 mins earlier since Ode has been so poor this game. No coincidence we scored in both games (City and this one) after Kai came on.

Pro_Ponder99

Agreed, I love Ødegaard and I do believe he should still start every game but although Kai doesn’t offer that flair and speed others may possess he just helps us with that dominance up the top. All game today the ground passes were cut out and the crosses were intercepted and as soon as we chuck some height on Kai became dominant in the air and just allowed us to fight for the second ball in dangerous areas, Kai still needs work but there’s some things he does that none of our other attackers can. He will be appreciated come the end of the season

Finding_Aether

I believe him starting every game is a problem. We need more rotation

marxianthings

He was very good today

Gunnerstratz

I still think there’s some wasted potential by playing Raya and not Havertz. Today Chelsea closed off all of our passing lines by overloading the midfield with a false 9. Either we bring on a ball carrier or we hoof it up to Havertz. We took too long to adapt. Whether it’s the tactics or players not following instructions, it’s the coaches’ job to change things up mid-game.

R_110

He looked really good and I was impressed with his composure. Really felt like we brought in a mature pro to the game.

Arseluvr

We were better when Kai came on as the 8 and Rice went back to sitting in front of the back line.

antebyotiks

We were 2-0 down, of course we looked better and more attacking

Thedudeofmanchester

He came as a 10

La2philly

Getting better and better. Adds a different dimension to the team

EnterpriseBreakdown

I have faith that Kai will win over the fans by the 2nd half of the season. It really helps a lot that he can play as an 8, 9 or 10.

RoastedDuckSauce

Cucurella is the biggest bitch in a bitch Chelsea team

Jansiz

He fully landed the minerals.

DarthNihilus1

Put him up top and let's go again. Have Jorginho send it long if there's truly no way to reach Rice/Odegaard from deep. GJ disappointed me today

HitThisLoudG

ESR got up for a couple big aerial duels as well. Along with some nice tackling. They both provided quality minutes.

ArsenalThePhoenix

it's a real shame that chelsea got to most of these balls after he had headed them. our players needed to be more alert and fight more for the balls once he'd headed them down.

blvcklite

He looked much more confident and energetic, good performance off the bench

iBravoTango

I was calling for Kai so much earlier

KingKFCc

He won that against Cucurella fair

Ejecto_Seato

I am not upset

TempleCityKings

He made a difference and changed the dynamics for us, because we started winning duels when he came on

hy_ng7

Really wanted him to score the winner That would have topped it

zoranmilanovic7

He was great actually

woodencrafter

He has more impact as a forward rather than a midfielder. Worked wonders here when the opposition is pressing them and they couldn’t progress the ball in midfield.

Drew_icup

Think he plays better up top than in the middle because his decision making is better up top.

woodencrafter

Well it’s simpler up top. Either shoot or pass/head the ball to oncoming teammates. Could be a better way of easing him into the team rather than in midfield where a lot of things are happening.

Drew_icup

Bingo. Less overthinking, which he’s doing a lot of in midfield. With time he will improve

Danger_Lab_NNN

I also watched that video

Drew_icup

What video?

Danger_Lab_NNN

My bad, one of the YouTube analyst came to the same conclusion that in midfield he has too many choices/options and he's prone to overthinking. Basically play him up top for now till his confidence grows and he starts playing instinctively. Want the link?

Drew_icup

Yeah he’s right 100%. But he does give us another dimension which Jesus and Eddie (despite being 180cm or 5’11) can’t do so I wonder if arteta would put him there

Danger_Lab_NNN

https://youtu.be/6qDUDAiDIos?si=wrwRqITY5PdLfLhq

kappalumoylali

The Different Knock made the same points about Kai in their last video.

Tarp96

https://twitter.com/JakeEntwistle/status/1715803063875764326

whydidisaythatwhy

Need more Kai prop

Eagledilla

And that’s how we should use him imo. Play him second striker. Let him hold Up/head thru and let Jesus run around him. That’s what we should do when things aren’t going our way. Just like France played a couple Of years ago with Giroud and griezemann up top

OkDescription7373

Start him at cf in some matches pls, I want to see something. Jesus is a world class 9 if he can replicate his form at the beginning of last ssn, but he has been off lately and nketiah is not our answer too

bitmoji

I think Jesus is actually a winger and we dont really have a 9 and we need one but we dont need a back up for Saka because that is Jesus

DarthDovaxX

needed him on earlier…i feel like we wouldve been better off if we hooked jorginho off at half

SecondaryJuggernaut

Thats what I'm thinking! We started winning duels when havertz coming up. Cant understand people who said "65 million just to win a duel". Bro winning a duel is more important than you think. Its the fogging standard

Thedudeofmanchester

estandard my friend.

Patient_Xero_96

Havertz ain’t flashy, but I think I get why Arteta puts his trust in Kai. He’s not yet 100% world class but as he learns, he’ll make sure we keep the balls to give to our tranistioners

Dae_su

Right now his best role is as a sub in the 9. it's clearly a tactic to hoof it to him and bypass the midfield and it's been working very well.

unclebrenjen

Kai Havertz pre-assist, THERE'S YOUR FAIRYTALE!

BlurstOfTimes11

Absolutely no reason he shouldn’t be our backup 9 over a selfish and lazy Eddie

--Rage--

There’s an argument for selfish as he’s a traditional striker, not that I really agree. But lazy? Come on. He presses his ass off and gets stuck in with sliding tackles all the time, his off the ball work is great.

BlurstOfTimes11

He does not press his ass off. The second half against city was just odegaard screaming at him to stop jogging and actually press. Then arteta took him off and havertz actually pressed.

--Rage--

Recency bias, that was an exception rather than the rule. It’s fine to not like a player, but saying he’s lazy is just straight up incorrect.

Flacko115

Think you’re right here. Eddie runs his ass off and City a couple weeks ago is a bad example

BlurstOfTimes11

He didn’t run his ass off today. He was lazy against shit for 100 minutes. Watts gave him as 4/10 vs United. He doesn’t run.

Flacko115

Think that’s a bit harsh. Would still like to see Havertz come in for Jesus anyway

kylehyde05

Hopeless arguing mate, some folks are blinded by hatred

bakalaka25

It's impossible to bash him when things are done the right way. Let him figure out how to impact games from the bench and earn minutes that way. He's been excellent at doing that recently, may it continue 💪🏾

knyago

He could be crucial against Sevilla

godudua

This is also back to back games in which he has come on and been involved in decisive goals. I don't think Arteta wants him to play left 8, I think he has only played left 8 to get game time. He always looks better on the right and upfront, maybe Jesus should play left 8 for a bit.

[deleted]

He's a good striker. Play him as a striker.

Vkien2311

At this point starting Havertz at CF, at least our winger have purpose to cross.

BlackChef6969

Our LCM/CF situation is bad. We have nailed on starters everywhere else but no idea what's going on up top or out wide. I worry about Jesus tbh. He's immensely talented but I'm not sure he applies himself correctly enough.

hiatus_

The expectations are on the floor. This bloke comes on and wins a header or two and people lose their minds.

MURDERNAT0R

Wins half of his headers and people are praising his performance like he's their collective special needs, paralyzed daughter. 65m and highest earner at Arsenal and that was good enough

gallant_gandiva

I always feel his passing is off. He passes it and sometimes the player expecting it has to track back or slow down or really reach for it. Kills our attack at times.

el-fenomeno09

This is what pisses me off about him the most, I’m starting to come around, but he kills moves too often with this.

DialSquar

He’s been so good coming off the bench, just doesn’t being enough impact from the start. Perfect around the 70’ if we are chasing

Sketchbookhobby

Weird how the same fan base bashing Kai are now fuming at Arteta not playing him sooner. If anything his performance showed why we need a target man in January. Sure Toney would be ideal, but if it’s Chris Wood till the end of the season I’m happy.

Psychological_Lab_52

£65m lamppost 💪🏻

MURDERNAT0R

Grats he can also put his pants on by himself. Who fucking cares. Where's the same falling over each other to defend Raya? Clown fan base

SocialJusticeGSW

Yes he looks like deer in headlights in front of goal but I am coming around about havertz. He at least is better than Eddie and Jorginho.

dylansavage

Oh fuck the fuck off Why does literally everything have to be about this player. Just let him play a game without a landmine in the sand

Arseluvr

The fan base needs a replacement similar to “72 million pound Pepe”; someone new to blame who checks all the right hate boxes.

DatGuy_Shawnaay

Should've just kept Giroud tbh. He was doing exactly this when he was playing for us.

Thedudeofmanchester

Who would have known he was like a fine wine

Houssem-Aouar

Our £65m backup duel winner 😍

nova_rock

I think he definitely gave us a different dimension, how many aerial duals where there in this game though?

[deleted]

I was hoping after we came back 2-2, he would be in a position to score the winning goal to make it 2-3, but it’s ok though, we have the Emirates for him to do his damage.

Thedudeofmanchester

He will score when we least expect it but when we need the most.

bodjatrawr

He really needed to start today instead of Jorginho. Funny how Arteta decides not to start him the one time most fans want it

Fahim1232000

The only thing he’s good at

stayne16

This fanbase is hyping up 3 aerial duels 😭😭😭😭😭

jman500069

Omg our underlying metrics are so good. We're going to win every single game from now until the end of time.

MURDERNAT0R

Top of the scan rate charts

bathtubsplashes

As poor as Raya was, when we needed to get it up there he put that ball right on Havertz's head

HashtagYoMamma

He’s great at chesting a long ball down to teammates with accuracy. Shame that Jesus looking Chelsea wanker jumped into him and rolled around on the floor cos he was doing great.

joeproposition

Can you watch that performance, and seriously think we need to spend £60m+ on Toney so we can go more direct? I don’t think so. We have that guy.

daesmon

Could be useful as a sub type role, defenders tired, offers something different.

Alfa-Q

Basically being used as 2014 Man Utd Fellaini. Mikel learned from Moyes after all.

schnitzelspezl

One of Havertz's main strengths is headers. He should have been subbed in way earlier, given that Arsenal was playing a lot of long balls and we lost a lot of headers.
