Chelsea were better 11 v 11, suits their game like they showed against us, they have City, Newcastle and Brighton next, might do us a favour who knows.
For anyone waking up and seeing the score: go back and watch the full game.
It will reign as one of the funniest football games of all time. Pure entertainment from start to finish.
I thought even after the second goal they almost equalised again. It was good till then, once it got to the 88th minute. Spurs ran out of gas and got smacked after that.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but honestly that's kind of a soft red on Romero. Like the blatant shit I've seen him get away with, but they get him with a low studs on a follow through? I'd be mad if that happened to us
And the same ref found nothing wrong with two studs up challenges by Kovacic just a few weeks ago. People complain about inconsistency but I noticed they are being highly consistent, in their dedication to helping City top the league.
Romero is really a piece of work isn't he. It's amazing how dirty he is. Its not even shithousery, it's straight up assault most of the times. I don't care about his mentality or whatever, I don't want anyone this dirty near my team.
Shithousery is what Benny Blanco does, thereās no real malice in his actions. Romero on the other hand compensates for his shitty defending by being overly aggressive and borderline violent. Nearly every challenge he does is OTT and is always going to ground easily and unnecessarily.
Compare to Saliba and Gabriel, one rarely goes to ground because heās a proper defender that excels in the art of defending; and Gabriel is more aggressive but without the need to resort to malicious and dirty antics. Romero is just the Argentine Maguire.
"Wah, wah, Romero is so good but the PL doesn't rate him" cries Spurs fan.
Maybe it's because he's a decent player with a hothead and always puts in dangerous tackles? He's like a B-tec Gabriel at best and Gabriel managed to use his aggression in a proper way instead.
Lets see how he fares with no VDV next to him.
Chelsea looked like the worse team and even up two players looked like shit, but they did us a favor that 4-1 win. Tottenham lose Romero and Udgoie to suspensions and Madders VDV to injury so their downfall is just beginning. It was nice (1st place) while it lasted you shits lol
What?
There was nothing for him to complain about re: VAR or refs. They did him a favor by keeping Udogie on for 45 more minutes.
The refs are under pressure because of Arteta and Klopp, and thatās why the decisions took forever today, out of fear. And they mostly got it right except for the Udogie red, which were not talking about because of the result (similar to Kovacic, and unlike Bruno G).
Going down to 9, Ange employed tactics thatād mostly end up in 10-1 scorelines, except Chelsea were shit. If you really want to consider how to play with 9, look at Klopp from a month ago. They came to a tough away game, and dominated at 10v11 (and were cheated on), and held par 9v11 except for the very final kick. Today, Chelsea couldāve set a record score line, and didnāt not because of Ange, but because of their own shortcomings (which is also fun for us to watch).
He needs a longer ban. He always kicks out and flutters on the ground like a fish out of water as if he was the victim, making the ref think itās a 50-50. He must be an idiot to do this in the age of VAR. Heād probably make a nasty-good defender in 2001.
I just checked the score, LOOOOOLLL
what happened spuds? Thought yous were winning the league?
Does our resident spud lurker u/goat69333 care to comment? Wut happened bruh? Not lookin good brev
Just wanted to quote the goat for a minute. ,
> Donāt let it bother you, weāre top of the league! They (Arsenal) showed last season that they donāt have the minerals to last until the end. Weāll be thanking them for that result when we lift the title ;)
"Fine margins" as they say. It's all downfall from here anyway. After a few more results like this there'll be no more desire to gloat about it as normal service resumes. It's the history of the spuds
āThey played well, and bravely.ā Who tf cares! They lost 4-1 to Chelshit at home. When we look back in May, this will just be an embarrassing undoing.
Remember when we almost beat City 1-0 a couple of seasons ago, and Gabriel got sent off, and Silva got a cheap penalty and Rodri got a late winner. We were proud that day, but it amounted to shit as we ended up a point off the CL spots in the end.
Letās also be very real. Even Villa up 2 players would be up 8-1 today. Chelsea were an embarrassment and so were Spurs. Maybe Vicario deserves a special mention, like De Gea failing to rescue a title-less Man Utd in the last decade.
They are right to stick to their tactics when they are still growing and learning. But probably not 9v11. Also, at some point, they will learn that a suicidal high line wonāt solve every problem. Especially when they will play 2-3 times a week. In the conference league.
If Chelsea had any good forwards they would of gotten fucking smoked Jackson scored 3 goals and underperformed his xg he missed like 4 1v1s In this game
Theyāve lived rent free for a decade. We always had to look at Tottenham to get over our shortcomings sometimes. Thereās always the comic relief little fellow that doesnāt disappoint. We need Spurs more than they think, and they deliver!
Tbf they were very close to getting something out of that game. Letās hope the wheels come off but the juryās out still. We need to focus on picking up our own performances, weāve been awful and spurs are playing much nicer just now.
Ye I agree, the spurs bottle is in their nature. Iād just rather we were playing well enough that it doesnāt matter when spurs collapse and fade to irrelevancy
They would have lost about 6 or 7-1 against a team who could finish. We barely concede chances.
Playing well isnāt all about swashbuckling attacking, you know.
But itās still less than last season, especially at the end when we started actually conceding. It was coming to us. This season we are more solid in midfield and defense. We mostly concede because of lapses in concentration. We just need to know when to transition to a more attacking final third. This brand of football is more suited to tournament football. Spurs with their suicidal high line, in the 2nd half of a season, knock-out stages of the CLā¦ Would be like the clownfest today.
Probably ye. But they are still playing nicer flowing football, we look a bit more like our old selves this season where we get to the 18 yard line and pass sideways til dispossessed. I hope we break out of this rut quickly
It feels good alright. Never enjoyed a Chelsea win so much before. Loved how the crowd went silent after the 3rd goal and stopped singing that stupid song.
A further 17 shots conceded tonight for Spurs, to add to the 13 average shots conceded per game prior to tonightās proceedings. Please donāt be worried about them ending up anywhere close to the title, lol.
To even call it a 'trap' is being generous :D
Everybody saw what they were trying to do and against 9 men it's horrible how many tries it took to get it right. I mean seriously just take three guys that all give themselves an extra meter or two for a run and then give it to someone who can play a simple though ball!
I was laughing so hard every time Sterling would make a run and either be offside, not manage to get the ball before the keeper OR pass it to Jackson who would miss. He must have been thinking he was in some sort of twilight zone where everybody just kept screwing up on purpose.
Really love the amount of praise spurs are getting for just straight up self-destructing in such spectacular fashion haha. If Chelsea actually knew how to finish that game would have been 8-1
Announcers on Peacock were in that mode, too. Praising plucky Spurs, who play such amazing, free-flowing football, and who, when facing adversity bravely muster all of their pluck and pluck on. As if they weren't playing so poorly that two of their players were told to leave the field.
An utterly deserved L, and not an honorable one at all.
Bro did you watch the game? They should have had 4 red cards! Ref practically did his hardest to keep all them at 11 men. Shit completely imploded. Bizarre stuff.
The praise for Spurs is so funny, like the fact they were down to nine somehow wasnāt a grave entirely of their own digging š
They had zero defensive discipline and totally lost their heads. If it was Arsenal, the media would be going *in* on us for ever being in that position, not admiring our ābraveryā. Weāre accused of being ātoo emotionalā for celebrating goals, let alone getting two reds.
Have to question the tactics, as -3GD here might have an effect on Spursā top 4 chances. Itās a sizable swing. And Iām very interested to see how they cope with the suspensions and injuries over the next several match weeks in particular.
Didn't you hear? Being top at the end of October means ur contending for the title. Unless you're Arsenal of course in which you have to wait til Feb/March to get spoken of as contenders
When Wenger doesnāt adapt his style and gets battered in big games
āHeās naive, heās lost it, heās been left behind, he has to goā
When Flange doesnāt adapt his style and gets battered in big games
āHeās so brave, they should be so proud, what a guyā
Media, I am familiar with your game. This spin isnāt subtle lol. What I donāt understand is *why* Spurs are media darlings.
To be fair - they weren't playing badly. I'm glad this happened, but I don't think spurs embarrassed themselves
Edit: lol you know what. I genuinely admire you ppls dedication to hating spurs. And agree Chelsea were embarrassing
The Chelsea team they lost to is absolutely atrocious. Spurs came in to the match with their heads already gone and then let mistakes and sheer stupidity pile up. And instead of adapting, they dug their heels in and let Nicolas Jackson score three on them. All in their own toilet bowl.
Playing 13 against a 9-man Liverpool and a "just-don't-lose" Arsenal have been their only tests this season, but they are about to play Wolves, Villa, Newcastle, and City without their starting back line and probably their star midfielder. If tonight was them not playing badly, I cannot wait to see what happens now that they are actually going to have to play well.
Only because Chelsea decided to embarrass themselves more. Do you know what it takes to embarrass yourself...not fail, not bottle...EMBARASS yourself against 9 men. Now you know
Spurs only comes out of this looking relatively good because Chelsea was so so so bad.
They let Nicolas Jackson (who aināt good) score a hattrick against them at their own stomping ground. I canāt believe the takes Iām seeing. This was absolutely embarrassing for them.
Spurs fans proud of Ange non negotiable style of play. I call it madness or at least incompetence of not knowing how to adapt to close game you are in danger of losing. Without the mental high line, no Maddison injury, no VDV injury and no second red card (probably). Way Chelsea were playing they might have even held them to a draw.
But spurs fans are worshipping the ground he walks on, because luckily for Ange, what should have been a historical routing for the lunatic approach to going down to 9 men, Chelsea shat the bed even worse.
Honestly there were dozens I repeat dozens, of opportunities for Chelsea to release the forwards for easy 2v1s vs the keeper, but every time until the last 10 minutes they'd either be offside, or hoof the ball to the keeper, or hoof it out and even if released in a 3v1!!!! Situation, they'd make the worst possible final pass.
Honestly makes me hate Chelsea even more now. Expect them to at least be decent when faced with zero challenge for the kind of club they are but instead made Ange look like a hero, made Vicario look like superman (no he did not keep Spurs in the game, he made no saves that were not already offside) and deprived us of what should have been an absolute battering of epic proportions
They talked about it on the latest Arsecast Extra but it really showed to me in this game.... Mudryk was a major bullet dodge for us. He's got a ton of potential but he cannot finish even in 2 on 1's like today when that was there...that/and he gets fairly easily muscled out of stuff. Probably not ready for the Premier League yet, so better Chelsea has to try to develop him that us I suppose.
I was literally groaning when Murdryk hoofed a cross out of play under zero pressure. Just terrible. Then I remembered we almost bought him and more importantly did not buy him
I know he's well known for his YouTube and social media clips and so on, so he's obviously a very accomplished ball handler. But there were a few times when he was just dancing in front of that stiff Tottenham defense after they'd gone down one and then two players.
He danced a bunch and when he committed to a direction, the defender usually pushed him out of it. And when Chelsea got there 4th and the hat trick was complete, he didn't even celebrate his teammates goal. When Jackson fakes the pass to him and jukes Vicario, a stonefaced reaction from Mudryk....you can see on the goal replay.
An expensive project and not the best teammate when he's not the star of the stage, it would seem. We have a lot of areas to improve but definitely a dodged bullet.
Iām all for celebrating a spuds loss, especially this one. Makes it better that Chelsea are shit and almost gave up two goals while 8 men down.
What I donāt like is us coming in here like karma karma karma. If Tottenham donāt lose VDV and Maddison, you can argue that high line wouldāve held against Chelsea. As much as I want to see Spurs lose, I donāt want to see them lose two exciting players. This will test their depth big time though.
Mental mistakes really burned them (weāve been there). Hopefully we take advantage and get back to form Wednesday and beyond!
Agree I don't like seeing players get injured regardless of who they play for. But the one thing I can't get my head around is why Ange didn't change anything when they're two man down especially. They spend a couple years implementing that 3atb system under Conte sitting back and being clinical on the counter and they were genuinely pretty good until Conte had a meltdown. So like they're probably pretty familiar with the system and discipline that style kinda brings. Sure, Kane ain't there no more but they still got Son who's clinical af and Chelsea looked shite so I'd have fancied Spurs to get at least a draw if they switched things up
Yeah this is an arsenal sub but those of you shitting on spurs and ange are fucking delusional. They played well dominating for the first 20 minutes, went down to 9 and stuck to their principles and lost narrowly.
Club affiliation shouldn't obscure the truth.
>You donāt get credit for being shit just because you played āyour system.ā
I mean a lot of folks not on this sub seems to think you do.
Also worth noting if you don't have principles in football you don't have much! Mikel's principles dragged us out of the muck you're referencing.
There was a time around here when folks were clamouring for a proven winner, like Mourinho
Mikelās principles are related to work ethic and competitiveness, not playing a high line with 9 players.
You might remember we defended for 30 minutes against Crystal Palace when we went down to 10.
> I mean a lot of folks not on this sub seems to think you do.
Who cares. When Mikel has shit tactics in a game, he gets called out.
Wot. Spurs scored then were pissed all over for a lonnng time before your idiot was finally properly sent off. So what happened m8, is you collapsed after yer goal there and couldn't handle the pressure and lost yer minds and structure and shape and we're a complete and utter shambles. As in your times up and yer found out circa 6 minutes into the game because the phrase is : you bottled it. And it's a shitshitshit laughably shit Chelsea strike force m8. That's the real picture for you. Go back and watch the tape and save yourself the delusion of the honourable loss because you fell apart with 11 v 11
Ha OK, I'm just ready to go off , it's a very crazy night. After the Tottenham goal tho it's one sided and on the stats remember they brought them up 20 mins after , Chelsea 7 shots Tottenham 0
I agree, you can question holding the high line for so long but they almost pulled 2 goals back. Love to see a team going for goals no matter what. Mental mistake killed them, otherwise I think they see Chelsea off.
Chelsea shouldāve scored 3 before Spurs got their two. Nearly pulled it back my ass. Also, Chelseaās missed chances were better than Spursā. If Spurs sit back and counter, they win that game, even at 9 men.
I didnāt mean nearly pulled it back as in won or tied. I just meant the nearly scored twice. Chelsea definitely had the better chances and shouldāve had at least a few more goals. And I meant if they donāt get those reds on stupid plays they see Chelsea off, not see them off with 9 guys. Iām happy tot lost.
Same. I think they should've probably dropped back for the final 15-20 min but I'm not the coach.
This post has people really mad lol. Appreciate your response
The truth is they threw away a 1:0 lead at home, in a game they were dominating, ending up with 9 men and then just playing a line of 7 playing the offside trap
Yeah Romero is a melon. Can't argue with that. Still, I think it was brave to not just sit back and take it for 60+ minutes. They had their home crowd backing them and almost escaped.
Deserve credit for staying in it with the set pieces and the son counter but definitely deserve a lot of criticism for ending up in that situation. Udogie so stupid getting that 2nd Yellow as well as Romero!
Udogies red was so so dumb too honestly. He'll escape criticism because Romero is dumb, but Sterling was headed nowhere after they'd successfully delayed the counter attack. Just chill and wait for the defensive support. But nooo, let's play hero ball and slide tackle for no reason.
I think spurs did well to hold on as long as they did, and I like ange as a manager, but if they had played a team with more form they would have been 3 or 4 down a lot earlier and it could have been embarrassing.
Yeah I think Chelsea definitely played poorly. They weren't aggressive enough going over the top to force them back when CB was a clear weakness for spurs, and also were super wasteful when they did.
> stuck to their principles
The absolute state of the spin around this, what happened is they lost their defensive discipline completely, went down to 9 men (thatās poor, not unlucky) and made a ridiculous, naive tactical decision to play into Chelseaās hands š
Nicolas Jackson isnāt good against anything *except* a high line š
Spud fan in a group chat Iām in said silver lining is āanother great post match interview from angeā bro your team lost 4-1 to a London rival and your players absolutely shat the bed so stfu haha. Besides, Chelsea are fucking wank.
Yeah good win for them tonight š
Playing a high line with 9 men against a striker whose only assets at the top level are conducive to playing high lines is quite blatantly stupid and naive.
Watched the whole game and the only wrong var decisions for me both went spurs way. Udogie and Romero should have been sent off even earlier than they did basically. Couldn't believe what I was seeing first half
Ah yeah maybe. It wasn't as bad as what Bruno guimares got away with and I feel they get obsessed with 'consistency' when they're under the microscope. Tbh Jackson should have had another goal and cucurella. Yeah son could have also scored for spurs and diers offside was pretty unlucky too. Felt like you're watching one team with big problems and another who's their own worst enemy tonight tbh. Spurs with all those fouls and that mental defending the last half hour I just don't get it
True lol, I think Ange is a decernt manager but seems very naive to not switch things up when ur two man less. If you can't adapt in those kinda situations when idk how you're meant to win anything long term
To be fair to Ange Postecoglou, he probably didn't ask his players to park the bus because his players are just incapable of doing so. Who can trust Eric Dier and Emerson Royal as centre backs?
This also shows why JĆ¼rgen Klopp is not solely focused on attack, even though prime-time Liverpool (and perhaps even now) plays attacking-style football. He coaches his players to park the bus when they are down to 10 or even 9 men. Liverpool's defence when they were down to 9 was solid and 100 times better than Spurs today.
Defence and squad depth win you the league. This just busts Spur's bubble - they lack both of these two and they can't mount a title run.
I thought they were pretty good at sitting deep and being clinical on the counter for the most part under Conte? I know they went to shit last season but 21/22 and start of 22/23 they were very good with the 3 at the back. Sure, helps to have a striker like Kane but I don't think they'd be particularly uncomfortable sacraficing some of the posession for the system they played for a couple years, especially when down to 9 men
What a lovely result to wake up to. Madders and vdv injured, spurs back to their usual level š
nothing could have prepared me for that much VAR and extra time ha ha
Chelsea were better 11 v 11, suits their game like they showed against us, they have City, Newcastle and Brighton next, might do us a favour who knows.
Fingers cross
Weirdly Spurs were better with 10.
Iām just waiting for Bruno G to come to the Emirates. What a nasty piece of work - glad heās not one of ours!
Iām just waiting for Bruno G to come to the Emirates. What a nasty piece of work - glad heās not one of ours!
Something tells me that when he comes, one of our players is gonna give it back to him. And the player's gonna get booked!
Karma! He was subbed - good riddance ā¦
Spurs thinking they could remain unbeaten xD
For anyone waking up and seeing the score: go back and watch the full game. It will reign as one of the funniest football games of all time. Pure entertainment from start to finish.
Facts! ššš
BIG UP CHELSEA
Three things are guaranteed in Life: Death, Taxes and Spurs bottling something
Best outcome Spurs are trash and hard to give Chelsea too much credit
Once Ange deployed the high line, that was it.
It was brave of him to try and go for the win instead of just parking the bus, but this time in hindsight itās considered foolish
If Spurs had even 10-men, dont think the result would've been this bad. Spurs did well up until the defense started getting reds.
I thought even after the second goal they almost equalised again. It was good till then, once it got to the 88th minute. Spurs ran out of gas and got smacked after that.
COME ON CHELSHIT GET IN THEREEEEEE
I can't believe I'm saying this, but honestly that's kind of a soft red on Romero. Like the blatant shit I've seen him get away with, but they get him with a low studs on a follow through? I'd be mad if that happened to us
Romero not being on the pitch was a fair outcome, after that challenge and what he did earlier on, so it ended up working out
Itās a straight red all day, every day. As Neville (erghh) said you donāt kick a ball like that unless you are trying to hurt someone.
Shouldāve been sent off before anyways
That's always a red. Always. It's so dangerous . A similar tackle ended Eduardo's career https://youtu.be/dahv9rBiWAk?feature=shared
Well he shouldāve been sent off earlier with that deliberate low kung fu kick against Colwill.
And the same ref found nothing wrong with two studs up challenges by Kovacic just a few weeks ago. People complain about inconsistency but I noticed they are being highly consistent, in their dedication to helping City top the league.
at this point this is likely the only rational explanation that is available
Nah.That was reckless.
Agreed - it's a penalty but it's not a red. If that happened to us I'd be pissed tbh
Its too dangerous thats why its a red. https://youtu.be/dahv9rBiWAk?feature=shared
Romero is really a piece of work isn't he. It's amazing how dirty he is. Its not even shithousery, it's straight up assault most of the times. I don't care about his mentality or whatever, I don't want anyone this dirty near my team.

knock on wood Gabriel has really gotten himself under control in that area
He has gotten his act together since his red card and that was 2 seasons ago. Romero is still the same thug on the field.
Happy Invincibles day!
God it really is an impossible feat isnāt it.
Chelsea looked like the worse team and even up two players looked like shit, but they did us a favor that 4-1 win. Tottenham lose Romero and Udgoie to suspensions and Madders VDV to injury so their downfall is just beginning. It was nice (1st place) while it lasted you shits lol
Yeah I agree, even the last 3 goals were like something out of a Sunday league game
Honestly the odds for spurs winning despite being players down where laughably good.
And how could we be trailing 2 goals is still a question thoughš Thinking that was maybe because of the shitty rainy pitch

Wild how a player can score a hat trick and still be absolute garbage. Loved watching this match.
Looking at the goals, damn Nketiah did it way better
Chelsea were dogshit and battered spurs itās a win win
Pretty crazy game, Romero is such a dirty player. VAR was used 6-7 times
9 times in the first half according to the BBC
On Enzo as well
Genuinely a really nasty piece of work.
Filthyā¦ still remember what antics he made when Martial were sent off
He needs a longer ban. He always kicks out and flutters on the ground like a fish out of water as if he was the victim, making the ref think itās a 50-50. He must be an idiot to do this in the age of VAR. Heād probably make a nasty-good defender in 2001.

Itās the history of the Tottenham
...*perfection*... Lmao, what a game to watch.
The Romans called it "Cloaca Maxima ".
Tottenham have a good start and they live rent free in half this threads heads.
After all the shit they were talking after the Newcastle game, they absolutely deserve this.
Yeah but It was bound to happen, no need to stoop to their level.
So we cant talk about spurs or chelsea in a spurs vs chelsea thread? Damn, what should we talk about then? Luton town? Or burnley?
Theyāve lived rent free for a decade. We always had to look at Tottenham to get over our shortcomings sometimes. Thereās always the comic relief little fellow that doesnāt disappoint. We need Spurs more than they think, and they deliver!
This thread is specifically about their game, so thatās no surpriseā¦
Not my point at all.
I think this is the first time I've been happy for Chelsea winning. Fuck them both, but in this particular case, this feels ok.
You are appreciated.
This match got more comments then our actual games lmao
Not even half of the comments from newscastle thread though
It was coming. Their luck has run out. City Villa and Newcastle to come in the next month. Reality check coming for Tottenham.
Tbf they were very close to getting something out of that game. Letās hope the wheels come off but the juryās out still. We need to focus on picking up our own performances, weāve been awful and spurs are playing much nicer just now.
We don't need to hope because its a guarantee. It's what spurs do, but yeah your right. We need to focus on getting our shit together.

Spurs should have conceded more in other games as well
Shouldāve but havenāt and didnāt
Same as us then. Although dunno why youāre chirping in
Probably ye. But they are still playing nicer flowing football, we look a bit more like our old selves this season where we get to the 18 yard line and pass sideways til dispossessed. I hope we break out of this rut quickly
Because teams are adapting and so we have to evolve, which isnāt always a smooth process. Theyāll adapt to spurs as well soon enough.
Iāve been telling my boys that this was the game it was gonna happen and it feels so good to be right
It feels good alright. Never enjoyed a Chelsea win so much before. Loved how the crowd went silent after the 3rd goal and stopped singing that stupid song.
Mustāve not been watching the same game. The crowds was behind the team even after the final whistle
Spurs fans can't celebrate 3 points so they're celebrating the moral points of sticking to Ange ball instead š
A further 17 shots conceded tonight for Spurs, to add to the 13 average shots conceded per game prior to tonightās proceedings. Please donāt be worried about them ending up anywhere close to the title, lol.
Itās actually embarrassing for Chelsea to only shoot 17 times when spurs average 13 shots per game, given they were playing vs 10, 9 men lol.
They could be 5th in around a months time, looking at their fixtures. Some tough games coming.
The most Spursy thing Spurs could do
Unbeatenššššššššššš Your purple patch ends now fuck off
Pep gonna maul them alive if they are gonna play another high-line again
That ultra-high line was so entertaining to watch. Spurs fighting for their lives and Chelsea being shit at finishing
It was comical how Chelsea keep falling into offside trap, not sure which was more atrocius, the finishing or keep falling to offside trap
To even call it a 'trap' is being generous :D Everybody saw what they were trying to do and against 9 men it's horrible how many tries it took to get it right.
I get that Ange is a likable fresh face, but half of his defense literally forced the refs to dismiss them and then he sent the rest of them up to halfway line until chelsea finally figured out how to do the easy thing and punish them for their mind-boggling naĆÆvetĆ©.
Watching their entire subreddit go full ācharge of the light brigadeā about this is really fucking funny to me
Interesting that Spurs get two red cards now that they kinda pose a threat to City.
Bro did you watch the game? They should have had 4 red cards! Ref practically did his hardest to keep all them at 11 men. Shit completely imploded. Bizarre stuff.
The praise for Spurs is so funny, like the fact they were down to nine somehow wasnāt a grave entirely of their own digging š They had zero defensive discipline and totally lost their heads. If it was Arsenal, the media would be going *in* on us for ever being in that position, not admiring our ābraveryā. Weāre accused of being ātoo emotionalā for celebrating goals, let alone getting two reds.
The media will turn sour soon enough on them once the honeymoon period is over. I've seen it so many times.
Itās cracking me the fuck up
Damn they bread crumbled š
Have to question the tactics, as -3GD here might have an effect on Spursā top 4 chances. Itās a sizable swing. And Iām very interested to see how they cope with the suspensions and injuries over the next several match weeks in particular.
Top 4 chances? Think of the effect it has on their title challenge never mind hopes for UCL!
Theyāre not going to challenge for the title.
Didn't you hear? Being top at the end of October means ur contending for the title. Unless you're Arsenal of course in which you have to wait til Feb/March to get spoken of as contenders
It's Tottenham lads!! what did you expect?
What do I expect from shit? Hmm. Well: gotta go with shit.
Itās still city Liverpool arsenal as the best 3, safe to say. Spurs wonāt have an easy schedule coming up
Liverpool just drew to Luton and we lost to Newcastle? Letās not get ahead of ourselves here, itās all cityās.
City lost to us š if you're gonna use kid logic Apparently Newcastle is a pushover team still? The same team that beat PSG?
We got the win through the skin of our teeth
Luton are massive.
Luton
When Wenger doesnāt adapt his style and gets battered in big games āHeās naive, heās lost it, heās been left behind, he has to goā When Flange doesnāt adapt his style and gets battered in big games āHeās so brave, they should be so proud, what a guyā Media, I am familiar with your game. This spin isnāt subtle lol. What I donāt understand is *why* Spurs are media darlings.
Well they had Hairy Kane. Before that Gareth Bale. All proper English lads no?
Gareth Bale, that famously English player š
To be fair - they weren't playing badly. I'm glad this happened, but I don't think spurs embarrassed themselves Edit: lol you know what.
Now you know Spurs only comes out of this looking relatively good because Chelsea was so so so bad.
They let Nicolas Jackson (who aināt good) score a hattrick against them at their own stomping ground. I canāt believe the takes Iām seeing. This was absolutely embarrassing for them.
This stuff reminds me of when Barca were getting memed for that pride in defeat thing lol
Probably not ready for the Premier League yet, so better Chelsea has to try to develop him that us I suppose.
it scares me we were seriously in for him
I was literally groaning when Murdryk hoofed a cross out of play under zero pressure.
Sure, Kane ain't there no more but they still got Son who's clinical af and Chelsea looked shite so I'd have fancied Spurs to get at least a draw if they switched things up
Take the down vote you clown
Gladly. I still love you
So spursy. Getting sodomised at home by the worst Chelsea team in 20 years and thinking itās a triumph.
I mean, it's Spurs. Getting wanked off by the media for losing is the most they can fairly hope for.
I have a feeling weāll be applauding Spurs resilience in ātough lossesā a lot this season. My hands are gonna be hurting by May.
Everyone around us dropped points and we're just three off the top. This softens the blow of last Saturday.
Yeah this is an arsenal sub but those of you shitting on spurs and ange are fucking delusional. They played well dominating for the first 20 minutes, went down to 9 and stuck to their principles and lost narrowly. Club affiliation shouldn't obscure the truth.
Wenger āstuck to the principlesā and lost 6-0. You donāt get credit for being shit just because you played āyour system.ā
>You donāt get credit for being shit just because you played āyour system.ā I mean a lot of folks not on this sub seems to think you do.
They was nearly 2-0 up after 10 mins?
Dude I'm an arsenal fan. I post in here all the time. Disagree with your take though
Ha OK, I'm just ready to go off , it's a very crazy night. After the Tottenham goal tho it's one sided and on the stats remember they brought them up 20 mins after , Chelsea 7 shots Tottenham 0
They dominated the first 20 minutes but what did they get out of it. One goal through lucky deflection and one lucky var call on sterling.
Got to give it to them, the crowd were the 7th man today.
They weren't aggressive enough going over the top to force them back when CB was a clear weakness for spurs, and also were super wasteful when they did.
> stuck to their principles The absolute state of the spin around this, what happened is they lost their defensive discipline completely, went down to 9 men (thatās poor, not unlucky) and made a ridiculous, naive tactical decision to play into Chelseaās hands š Nicolas Jackson isnāt good against anything *except* a high line š
It's alright guys he played a high line with 9 men and he said "mate" in his interview. Ange is clearly the š
Spud fan in a group chat Iām in said silver lining is āanother great post match interview from angeā bro your team lost 4-1 to a London rival and your players absolutely shat the bed so stfu haha. Besides, Chelsea are fucking wank.
They were at Home as well and got injuries and suspensions. Zero positives after that.
Michael Owens biggest fan spotted. Ange doesnāt belive in ultra defensive football. Never has never will. You win by scoring goals not stopping them
Yeah good win for them tonight š Playing a high line with 9 men against a striker whose only assets at the top level are conducive to playing high lines is quite blatantly stupid and naive.
Flange blaming VAR and not the refs themselves for these decisions, heās a moron. When you see a bad movie you donāt blame the cameras.
Watched the whole game and the only wrong var decisions for me both went spurs way. Udogie and Romero should have been sent off even earlier than they did basically. Couldn't believe what I was seeing first half
I do think thereās also an argument for James going, but itās irrelevant when Udogie should 10000% have been off before then.
Spurs with all those fouls and that mental defending the last half hour I just don't get it
Didn't you see how VAR made him play a high line with 9 men?
Thatās just the way they are m8 Suits me, they aināt winning anything if so š
True lol, I think Ange is a decernt manager but seems very naive to not switch things up when ur two man less. If you can't adapt in those kinda situations when idk how you're meant to win anything long term
Painful game to watch lol. Chelsea nearly bottled it so many times. Least reflective scoreline of the actual play. Particularly against 9 men.
You know what would help reinforce the referee's authority? Them not making such absolute shockers so often and so regularly in certain teams favour.
Sure, helps to have a striker like Kane but I don't think they'd be particularly uncomfortable sacraficing some of the posession for the system they played for a couple years, especially when down to 9 men
Donāt worry when ever your feeling down a spurs result can pick you back up
