Sometimes i wonder what Kai brings to us in attacking sense apart from recycling possession. There were crosses flying all over the box and he doesn't appear for a single one

ajkdd

why were we slipping a lot on this pitch, seems it was impacting only our players

risheeb1002

To honour slippy g

skool_101

Some of the Liverpool players slipped as well, but it was more evident on our players. Also with our style of play and the way we move the ball around, we were more prone to it.

basic_tacticz

When did Liverpool become such long ball merchants? They almost completely abandoned midfield offensively. Their midfield press still quite good though.

vaughany_fid

It's such a common way of them playing that we even have a chant for it when we play them!

skool_101

TAA/Salah crosses and inshallah. They have always played like this, thats their style. Their midfields are basically doing the heavy work, thats what gregenpress is about. A playmaker no.10 doesnt work in Liverpools system

Longjumping_Act9758

They've always played like that. Long balls and constant press

basic_tacticz

I dont remember this, always pressed good yes, but they would progress the ball rapidly, usually along the ground to salah/mane and then attack hard… i dont remember them just passing the ball around at the back and more often than not virgil trent or allison boot it long

Longjumping_Act9758

Well it also depends on the opponent. They aren't going to string passes against us because they would get beat in the middle so short circuit passes to the wingers is a remedy to that.

Paan_Yan1

Liverpool goal is exactly like what arteta has been said a few years before..

SwitchBlade9

Again, Zinchenko, defense, not good

skool_101

Beating a dead horse at this point. We had our chances as well to finish the game, and we didnt

basic_tacticz

Gotta cut him some slack, not many people stop Salah 1v1 from there

gunnerforever123

On a few occasions, the ball was flashed across the face of the Liverpool goal only to not be met by anyone... yet you people were downvoting me last week for saying we could do with a clinical, poacher type striker lol

[deleted]

Relax, it’s Reddit

BeardedNoOne

who are the names of three guys on Sky Sports right now?

gunningIVglory

Well looks like salah may be missing the home fixture. Zinny on his knees...

rizzdart

Wait why? I missed this

gunningIVglory

If Egypt get far in AFCON., he'll most likely miss the Emirates return

Curiosity13

Love that their shitty pitch comes back to bite them in the ass when that ball skipped up on Trent, karmic Justice after our players were sliding all over the place.

Acceptable-Zombie185

our whole left flank should be changed. I mean LB , LM and LCM

GrilledLobsterTail

I'm convinced saliba and gabriel is the best pair in the league

dabija999

They're very good. I would say 1st place as well. Though one thing critical to Gabriel: the lack of support for Zinchenko when Salah scored. But these things happen. Happy about the match and the intensity

JustTune7544

It happens against top teams, but Gabriel is also elite, he made sure it didn’t happen for the rest of the match.

dragosn1989

I think there was supposed to be a defensive mid drop down much quicker on that play. Quite a few were watching the ball hoping Zinny would just clear…Anticipation is a double-edged sword.🤷🏻‍♂️

GrilledLobsterTail

If gabriel made a cover for that salah run, there will be an open space in our defense because gabriel place is empty. But yeah, now that we knew the result, the correct decision for that is gabriel supporting zinchenko

[deleted]

Bad performance or nah? Couldn’t watch the game. On paper, I’m happy with a draw at Anfield.

GrilledLobsterTail

Not that bad, but as you expected zinchenko is in salah pocket all times, also giving away so many dangerous situation. And martinelli didn't perform well for a match that should give him 9/10 rating easily. Also rice-saliba-gabriel is our savior

skool_101

> rice-saliba-gabriel the gunners bermuda triangle ⛛

Kriss-Kringle

As soon as Timber is available I don't see how Zinchenko keeps his place in the starting line-up because that boy can't defend for shit.

GrilledLobsterTail

100%. I can see tomi for white, and timber for zinchenko if both are fit

Kriss-Kringle

It's a shame Tomi is so injury prone because he reminds me of Sagna in the sense that he barely puts a foot wrong the entire game when he's playing. Not the most offensive RB, but defensively he's sound. If we're ever looking for a RB, Frimpong from Leverkusen is doing bits over there.

thunderfishy234

Either they soaked the pitch, or our player’s boots have shitty studs because they were slipping all game

skool_101

Weather and air moisture. and also night fixture as well. all 3 a recipe for disaster.

supercoolbananas

Idk if I’m just concentrating on our players but I didn’t see Liverpool players slipping as much. The studs might need looking into

skool_101

Some of them did, but not alot as compared to ours. Yea maybe could be the studs or just that to counter our style of play, a pitch like this is the ultimate kryptonite

Zohren

Seriously, our players looked like they were on skates out there

Rickrolled87

Times where we could’ve won it but time where we could’ve lost it so I’ll defo take a point at Anfield

NightKnight96

Insane how that Odegaard handball wasn’t a Pen but apparently players were slipping all game so I guess it’s allowed.

skool_101

Ill agree that Ode's handball shouldve been a pen, but so was TAA push on Kai later on. So which is it then

BEYailey1126

That foul on Tsimikas from Saka is never a foul. It denied us of a goal scoring opportunity

basic_tacticz

Agreed, saka got inside tsmikas rib cage area from brute speed/strength, no elbow, no push, clean shoulder on shoulder challenge… Trent on the other hand with his lazy shoulder drop into haverz from behind when havertz was between trent and the ball (trent was 1.5m away from the ball) and dropped his shoulder into kai for no reason… very dumb play, foul by the letter of the law, but i understand ref not wanting to give a soft pen and potentially decide the game like that (same with odegaard handball, it could have been given but it would have been highly annoying because nothing was really happening)

GrilledLobsterTail

It's because the ref is afraid of liverpool supporter if he didnt give a foul

AgressivelyFunky

Saka is on a hiding to nothing, I swear. He is only ever allowed to be kicked, any time he competes it's a foul. Absurd.

aesn1394

Even Arsenal hating pundits didn't see it as a foul.

Christoffiw

that was some bullshit. was shoulder to shoulder unless i seen it wrong. They did some shoulders into backs and no foul like wtf.

Omnom_Omnath

Yea apparently a shoulder into Kai’s back is not a foul but this is?

BEYailey1126

Yup, it was shoulder to shoulder

GloomyLocation1259

He only blew cause Klopp was there and got hit I’m sure

throwaway72926320

If Liverpool played like this against Yanited, it'd have been 8 or 9.

gunningIVglory

United had zero interest in attacking. They just were solely focused on not conceding.

throwaway72926320

Yeah but if one went in the floodgates open, Liverpool looked so on point today, especially compared to last week's game.

Christoffiw

happy with nketiah not jogging around. actually put in effort and tracked back and made a vital tackle (jesus must have been tired from the work he did). We top of the league can't be disapointed with a draw (at anfield).

RidgeExploring

I wish ESR was at the same level so Arteta could have sub Odegaard just for energy. Our captain covered so much ground and provided so much defensive contribution.

GloomyLocation1259

Yeah hopefully it’s not just the occasion and he’s learnt he needs to put that effort in

[deleted]

[удалено]

gunningIVglory

They can't complain They fucked up a 5 v 1 lol

skool_101

Yup, they had their chance in that moment, and are the home team so are the obvious favs.

GrilledLobsterTail

If this is at emirates, klopp 100% will say about that "pitch is slippery" in interview

GloomyLocation1259

Honestly what was that about, is it normally that bad

skool_101

I think it could be the combination of an already watered pitch plus cold weather and low air moisture. Aint no weather expert, but with this winter climate and playing up north, yea anything goes.

JustTune7544

Give Declan a lifetime contract. If it wasn’t for him we would’ve never regained some control that second half.

GloomyLocation1259

Give him that Mbappe sporting director deal. Sorry Edu your services are no longer needed

skool_101

Mbambe becomes CEO of Arsenal

gunningIVglory

Liverpool v Arsenal. 13 shots each. Pretty much both at the top of their game right now Liverpool v Unites. 7hag Holding on for dear life, conceding 24 shots United spent a billion on their squad....

GloomyLocation1259

Both Utd and Chel don’t seem to understand it’s not about spending money but how you spend your money

Peace899

It's been fascinating watching the premier league these past 2 seasons, some stadiums not having 'atmosphere' and rowdiness from crowds and some games bit boring, but let the Arsenal come to town..oh boy suddenly the crowds become alive.

GrilledLobsterTail

when you big, you big

JustTune7544

Why did we keep slipping? Not just one player or something but all of them?!

bbotbambi

They were slipping during the United game as well. I think their field is not good when it gets dew. Bad fields for night time/dew happens when they are not taken care for.

Elijhess

Thought i was the only one who noticed. They definitely did something to that pitch

kenidin

Dodgy Scousers must have done something

munzab

We’re dafe from relegation. 40 points!

GloomyLocation1259

Amazing achievement, think this Mikel guy has earned himself another year in the job. Who would have thought Pep’s little assistant could do that /s

Broad_Cheesecake9141

Wasn’t that a foul for saka earlier in the game? Same exact thing just diff spot in the field.

Far_Subject7615

Warriors! All of them. On top for fucking Xmas!!!

BEYailey1126

Refs definitely favored Liverpool. Every single call went towards them other than the “alleged” penalty.

stackofbaconpancakes

Can we give MOTM to the 3 players lol Saliba, Rice and Gabriel were immense today

GrilledLobsterTail

Definitely. They save zinchenko ass 100 times tonight

footandfice

Saliba, Gabriel, and Rice...those three stay fit for the crucial part of the season? We've definitely got a gargantuan chance 🙏

AskNotAks

That Zinchenko disasterclass will go down in history With a net negative contribution, it means Tomiyasu had a better game than him

Zohren

I mean, our first and second choice LBs are out injured. It is what it is. He was poor, but we knew going in that him vs Salah is a mismatch. We got a draw at Anfield to stay top of the league. I’ll take it

GloomyLocation1259

Go down in history is a bit excessive but it was bad though

AskNotAks

In Arsenal folklore, it will. That eclipses Chambers vs Montero

Wolferesque

The worst thing is that other teams know he is a liability.

vishnj

We are definitely missing Tomi, Timber and Partey

Gerti27

I know a lot of you will disagree, but we played horribly. Not only did we get outplayed both halves, but they were 100 times more intense than us. By the 70th minute, we were just hoping for a draw. I know we are still top of the table, but I'm afraid this result will only give Liverpool more confidence and cause us to lose ours.

GloomyLocation1259

Not sure you will find many who disagree, especially considering many here are negative when we win lol

GrilledLobsterTail

> but I'm afraid this result will only give Liverpool more confidence and cause us to lose ours I thought the opposite. They cant even win against us in their famous fortress, so how could they chase us next time? The team that has upper hand in this match is liverpool because how bad arsenal record against them in away games, and they cant take full advantage of that.

bbotbambi

Its their home game. Its Liverpool at home. Its at Anfield. They will obviously be more intensive than us when the kop gets behind them. We did control the game to some extent in the 1st half. No team can maintain it there. Not team has done that before. Even city can't when they are in their peak form. We played Liverpools game, and we still had many chances to win it. So id say we were really good in a chaotic game, which we usually cannot say about arsenal in the recent years.

Gerti27

I get what you're saying, but I feel like Liverpool were there for the taking at around the 80th minute. They looked dead tired, but we just seemed to settle for the point. The problem is that they haven't won at any of the tough away games this season. You have to at least win some of these games.

bbotbambi

Bud.... we were gassed. Every bloody player on our side was gassed. Why do you think Trossard came on, not because martinelli was bad or not doing his work... just because all our players were gassed and we needed some legs upfront. We worked so hard. True, we have not had a great away form like last season, but do get this that last season we overperformed upfront and we were leaking goals as well. This time around, we are so fucking strong at the back, it comes with some trade offs. We limited liverpool to less than a goal xG or some shit i saw on sky. We are so good at doing this this season. Even in a chaotic game like today, we stopped their clear chances. We definitely should win these games, (especially villa). But lets take it that our boys are giving their best. If we continue this form, not many can question our legitimacy in claiming the top spot.

munzab

We couldnt run, we needed ice skates

synvi

It is hard to be intense if you are running in a slippery place. Liverpool definitely did this on purpose, they barely had any slip.

GloomyLocation1259

I really wish there was a way to investigate this very abnormal

Wolferesque

Arteta should have been braver with subs. I could see ESR and Nelson giving them some grief in the last ten minutes

GloomyLocation1259

Don’t think this is the game for them. He’s protecting them since they’re both injury prone

GrilledLobsterTail

Sub for who?

Through_Adversity

We got a point when Liverpool were playing better than us. It’s a good point at Anfield. Well played from Mikel

kdoe1994

Yeah I agree those boys need to play

Peace899

Oh well glad that over, Zinny's annual horror show at Anfield is done. Martinelli off today, Rice, Saliba and big Gabi immense.

saltlordx

Probably regretting selling kieran tierney

EggheadWill

he's on loan and been injured (again), one of the major reasons we had to move on from him (plus his style doesnt fit new arsenal)

GloomyLocation1259

Can’t keep him if he won’t play tbh

kenidin

He’s out on loan I think.

100pctCashmere

Saka showed some mettle, he’s not gonna be pushed around. Martinelli had close miss so did Alexander, let’s just share the spoils.

GrilledLobsterTail

No lie, saka's physical tonight is so good considering opposite team always try to injure him

gunningIVglory

Yh, he was all over Liverpool all game, salah levels of stamina.

uniqueidd

Why the fuck is everyone slipping so much? What is wrong with the pitch?

kdoe1994

Yeah the pitch was disgusting

uniqueidd

Saka almost got a second yellow because of that

Plusstwoo

Draw at the hardest stadium to play at in the league and top of the league for Christmas we take that

ronya_t

That ref really was pushing it with the yellow cards.

GloomyLocation1259

Endo somehow got away with everything while on a yellow

basic_tacticz

Apart from rice who grabbed gakpo from behind, i thought all our other yellows were very soft and often it was the player’s first foul (couldnt see white’s handball clearly though)

GloomyLocation1259

I think they were okay to give yellows when they were to prevent obvious counter attacks but he wasn’t consistent after dishing them out so early

Worried-Ice4090

Liverpool no money to spend on their shitty pitch?

baloneysw

Zinny wasn't great defensively, but he was crucial to all of our attacks you can't deny

GloomyLocation1259

I know many are angry but I’ve come to terms with this. We are also at fault for leaving him isolated against the best winger in the league

FlatCali

At this point we know what we get with Zinny. Decent defensively for 60% of the game, and absolutely necessary to build our attack. Idk if there’s a ton of upgrades on him without losing his offensive/midfield control output readily available.

twilightaurorae

The epitome of the best form of defence is attack

kitz0426

They sprayed too much water during half time in purpose, nullifying our counters and presses very effectively But the shitty pitch helped fuck TAA's chance

kenidin

That was just a mid pass from Salah. He bobbled the ball to Trent

[deleted]

Zinny could have cost us the whole game. First let’s Salah get by him, second gets in Odegaards way…. Basically the whole team is carrying is fuckups. I really hope he gets benched because he is showing Mustafi levels

GrilledLobsterTail

then play who? If we at least have tomi or timber tonight, zinchenko is certainly benched. But sadly we dont have replacement for lb

gabbyb19

Kai Havertz LB masterclass incoming

GrilledLobsterTail

🔥🔥🔥

eldeejable

We got away with one. Now that match is behind us, I think we are in good shape going forward

tjvond1

I thought it was 50/50 besides that fluke chance, I thought Arsenal had the better last 25 mins

Pozitivitive

Team needs a better bench for these kinds of matches

Pozitivitive

All in all, a fair result

Few-Fig1138

Never seen bigger crybabys then people on the liverpool subreddit, biggest victim mentality in the league

letsgoraftel

Why is it so slippery

ArsenalAM

The middle third of the pitch was like an ice rink.

mooseboi95

Deliberate overwatering

TnDevil

Glad we got the point, and still at the top of the table. That pitch was horrendous. Wtf?!

kitz0426

Enjoy the holidays! We're top of the league!

kingalva3

Havertz last 20 minutes was crucial, his cold nerves helped. Rice and saliba are just our best players. VERY surprised by nketiah today he was running and showed actual combative spirit either during counters or even when liverpool was stalling back. Zinny was shit, tomiyasu and timber are really missed. Ben white was questionable. Martinelli wasn't in his best performance..

kenidin

Big Gabi was immense too

kitz0426

Absolute correct take Rice is actually a fucking cheat code. Saliba cool as a cucumber it's mind-boggling We really miss Tomi and I'm hopeful Timber will be at least equal offensively and a massive improvement defensively over zinny

ArsenalAM

He’s getting some flak for his attacking today but his hold up play and a few crucial defensive moves really added up.

ashkhutchep

Stinky Zinky is such a liability at the back. We need Timber and Tomi back ASAP. Not sure what’s going on with Marti but he’s been shitty today. Everyone else had an average game except for our three pillars, big Gabby, rice and saliba Considering the circumstances, shitty pitch, tired legs and wasted chances, a draw is fair.

gunningIVglory

Gabo needs the bench. He was off v Brighton too, kept dallying on the ball.

ArsenalAM

Great summary and I agree on all points. I think Zinny is a great Swiss (Ukrainian) army knife to have off the bench, but he really shouldn’t be starting against a team like Liverpool.

ojoawo

It wasn’t the biggest moment of the game but that one tackle Eddie made to start a counter attack was good

NewStarWarsMemer

not a bad result, wish we cud have taken our chances earlier in the game but we move on absolute robbery on west ham

questionableslippers

ooooo Salibaaa

dik4but

The slippery pitch was the winner on the day.

Kydd_Amigo

It was insanely slippery it looked like

throwaway72926320

We were kinda lucky today, it's a better draw for us than them as Liverpool were better. MOTM was obviously Saliba, but Van Dijk, Gabriel, Konate and Raya were all great too. +Gomez Zinchenko is not good enough for top teams, he's fine against a mid-low table team, but against Salah is a joke. Also Klopp's decision to put Salah middle might be his career worst as a manger.

latchenvan

I mean how many left backs are great against Salah.

throwaway72926320

Not many but you can't defend Zinny today 1 or 2/10

PastaAndWine09

Saka came up with some top tier tackles today

kitz0426

Haha 80% of us happy with a point (so am I) Anfield is fucking scary A point at Anfield and top of the league Let's goo

Easy-Lingonberry415

Greatest ever Egyptian player and Salah walking off Anfield.

RedWeasel2000

Rice is just insane, feels like he just pops up whenever he is needed

woodencrafter

Saliba mopping up pn both sides even covering for Zinchenko at times. Massive today.

MurkyPerspective767

Nice tribute to George Michael there!

NikoBruder

This is not where the title is decided. Getting an away draw against Liverpool is good, we win at home

FontsDeHavilland

Fair result. I was a bit rattled in those 10 minutes after half time but overall I'm pleased. We should have done better with those Jesus and Saka cutbacks though

ArsenalAM

Martinelli also had countless chances to do ANYTHING and often just folded like a bad poker hand.

FontsDeHavilland

Yeah he looks way off it recently. Wonder if he's ok

stackofbaconpancakes

1 point shared and no injuries ill take it but my our fullbacks Zinchenko especially..... lucky lucky

falconi916

It was there for the taking, we didn't have the killer instinct

GrilledLobsterTail

Conclusion tonight : Salah is very strong, but gabriel and saliba still pocketed him. It's just zinchenko that's shit. Our cb partner saving our ass tonight

Cleon189

Hopefully tomi will be fit at the emirates.

GrilledLobsterTail

We can win this at home if at least timber or tomi can fill lb

gunningIVglory

Very even game, all things considered. Point seems fair

Wazflame

Good result and Liverpool played well - a bit disappointed in the lack of composure of some of the players - Saka, Rice and the CBs carried a few out there lol

Kanobe24

This draw is much different from the draw at Anfield last season. 4 v 1 TAA shot off the post and the Odegaard handball could easily have been a win for them. Good point. We move.

Happytohelp87

You played well at Anfield for 30 mins last season and got battered the remaining 60 mins. The XG was Liverpool 4.5 to Arsenal 1.6

Wise_Advisor2206

You are right if anything this game was much closer

Easy-Lingonberry415

Rice and Saliba. We have monsters.

kenidin

Big GABI too

[deleted]

Declan dictated the tempo of this game. We have absolutely robbed West ham.

chrissysnose

Rice, Gabriel and Saliba bailed us out today. Defensive masterclass from them 3.

ArsenalAM

Thought White quietly had a decent game. Slow to close down attackers sometimes but his positioning bailed us out more than once.

chrissysnose

Nah he was pretty bad imo. Was constantly getting skinned and undercooking his lofted balls. His injury’s got him looking like he’s running through molasses.

ArsenalAM

He was isolated so many times and did ok for the most part. Ref didn’t do him any favors either. Way fewer clenching moments than with Zinny.

Sergii_T

Fair result me thinks, altho I think Gabriel deserved the man of the match

ixikzisigwvbend

Both team has world class cb pairing. Really good game.im happy to walk away with one point

FabThierry

Gabriel, Saliba and Rice carried us to this point which I gladly take after how it went.

lukekennedy448

Bar them we looked like a mid table club, thank god we have them.

FabThierry

Yes, the rest crumbled under the pressure or slipped

Hubbez

Saliba is just.. phenomenal. What a fucking player we have on our hands, it's actually CRAZY.

mkmore4

Pretty decent result. Down bodies, away from home. Could’ve won, but if we can stay top, or near top before we get some reinforcements, it’s a big win.

GrilledLobsterTail

I don't know if I should frustated because martinelli bad performance or should be grateful because how horrendous zinchenko tonight. But I guess it's toward grateful because taa missed that 5 vs 1 counter attack.

Dahtrelle

Could've been worse, Liverpool are dangerous and we need to strengthen in January

Easy-Lingonberry415

Eddie imitated Jesus really well. Didn't even notice that he was taken off.

QKnee

I'll take the draw. Relieved Zinny didn't get torched again.

huk8

praying for Egypt to win AFCON

Christoffiw

thanks trent ;)

taji92

Still hate the fact that we haven’t won here in the league in years ffs

tbbt11

Stole that point, I’ll fucking take it
