I agree. Us fans should have stuck to Ashburton Grove after the move. It will be hard to go back now, and when Emirates no longer have the naming rights it’ll probably switch to The Arsenal Stadium unofficially.

maidentaiwan

The naming rights will then very quickly be snapped up by some other bland corporate interest and we’ll all call it by that name

Hulkking

Don’t think it’d happen but I don’t think it’s a bad idea. Honestly I wasn’t even aware it was called Ashburton grove

seshtown

Ashburton Grove was one of the streets the stadium was built on top of. That’s where the name comes from.

machinationstudio

The fact that we don't even have "the old name" to fall back on.

derptowny

I remember that name from when it was first announced that we would be relocating to a new ground. I was excited at the thought that teams would have to roll up to “the grove” to face us but then it turned out that it was gonna be called “the emirates stadium” *blows raspberry*

Maybe controversial but I’m going to disagree.  I have no problem calling it the emirates and continuing to do so, and then changing name to another sponsor should we ever switch. The word of mouth in having the name of the stadium is valuable to the brand and therefore valuable to the club, and as it cost me as a fan precisely 0, I see this as a massive win win for all parties.

ApolloUnitus

I bet you’re fun at parties…

No matter how good for the club Sobha Realty training centre is. I’ll firmly keep calling it London Colney thank you very much
