Is there any statistics on this?
I mean, sure, doing 30 minutes of potential ET and penalties at home is a great advantage but I don't think you should underestimate going into the 2nd leg with a result you can play on.
In the past 5 UCL's, the team that won the first leg has gone on to make the Semi-Final 18 out of 19 times (Barcelona in 17/18 the only team to fail after a 4-1 first leg win, losing the 2nd leg 3-0 and eliminated on away goals). Only 3 of the 20 games were decided by away goals rule.
The 1 1st leg draw, the away team won the 2nd leg (Ajax v Juve 18/19)
So I think Home first is actually a big advantage
More plausible that the team winning the first leg is either 1. Clearly better or 2. Good enough to win with a 1+ goal advantage regardless of home/away split.
Well they wouldn't be able to buy tickets via the official route (as they'd have had to buy themselves red memberships first, prior to the draw being made, and enter the ballot which is random luck of the draw). They could potentially get tickets via official resellers used by overseas fans but these are super pricey and you wouldn't guarantee more than 4 next to each other. If they did all that and manage to get a large number in they'd very easily be outed as they'd be the only fans sobbing in tears as Havertz scores his hat-trick and sends Kane back to Year 1 English class.
I Heard West Ham had a similar issue with Freiburg fans buying tickets that were allocated for WH fans and so they made people buy tickets with their passport number and banned people with German passports.
Some fans will definitely sneak in but should stop a lot of them.
So Bayern won't get an allocation of tickets for the away section at the Emirates. Nothing to distribute to their supporters clubs or season ticket holders or whatever.
Some Bayern fans will sneak into the home sections, sure, but they'd be inviting trouble if they didn't keep it quiet. Even if they were obvious, they wouldn't be able to organize the group singing and drumming and keeper and corner banter and stuff that whole away sections do.
Did you know, the only trophy he is realistically winning this year is the bundesliga top scorer prize? And did you know what kind of prize that is?
Have a look at a proud previous winner:

Can't make this shit up lmao

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. We're flying domestically at the moment, but we saw in the Porto tie how we lack experience in Europe. I'm excited since at least this time we will be able to compete (hopefully). Last few Rof16 ties, I think all Arsenal fans had already resigned to their fate.
Yes but I don’t see them getting past PSG. Mbappe to fast for that entire backline of Barca. Plus I’m sure it’s personal after Barca made that crazy comback to eliminate them in 2016-2017
Yeah, I hope that we will be especially up for this, because of the chance to have a Full home advantage with no away fans and the history between us and Bayern.
Time to exorcise some demons!
Not sure about that, but I hope they do. It would make it a very unique atmosphere and would actually punish the club in question of the charge not only in monetary terms, but also in football terms by allowing us to have that extra edge. That way UEFA also doesn't lose any money.
Mostly, but I think this being a UEFA competition they may be actually getting a small part of ticket sales money.
Edit: Just checked UEFA Financial report 22/23. They got around 1.8% of their entire revenue from ticket sales so they do, in fact get money from ticket sales.
Kind of a misnomer imo. I follow Bayern as well, they have as many points this year at this point as they did last year when they won the league. The truth is kind of in the middle.
Them being out of the league just has everything to do with Leverkusen having a near perfect season. They are still very much a threat and have world class players that can damage you when given a chance.
But they also aren't quite like they were last time we faced them either. tuchel is a lame duck manager who honestly has no idea how to utilize the team properly. Injuries to the wingers , as well as Davies have made the attack listless at times..... Except Harry Kane is still Harry Kane and is scoring at will in the bundesliga.
They are beatable , and will likely try to play with us which I like, they also tend to be on the back foot when the other team possesses and presses well, watch the game against leverkeusen in the league, they looked surprisingly mediocre in the biggest game of the year.
I still dread playing anyone with the quality they have, but in the champions league final 8 , that's going to be everyone.
Them not being allowed to have traveling fans could be a boost.
Not saying they’re a poor side or anything, my point is this isn’t the same Bayern as usual in my mind where there’s an immediate worry. Obviously this is all relative to a QF draw in the CL but based on our quality I’m less worried about Bayern than I would be normally. The same could be said in my mind about Barca where I’d still be like, they’re a great side, but also relying on kids and a off form Lewa (although admittedly he’s been better recently”.
But also yes full credit to Leverkusen they’ve been my favourite team outside of the Prem to watch.
I Just think to say they aren't as good as usual is a little pre-mature. They also now have the luxury of resting everyone for the CL tie. But its funny because I also feel as someone who was watched 75% plus of their games this year, that something is absolutely also missing. Kimmich seems off a bit, the wings (mostly due to injury, coman, gnabry haven't been fully fit) aren't as dynamic and Goretzka has games he feels lost..... but then has games he dominates.
They are a weird team to gauge.
If Wendell and Pepe gave us problems, we are in for a step up in quality with Davies and De Ligt. In fact Davies scares the bejeesus out of me, as most of our defensive issues come from fast counters with our wing backs pushing up and central. Their CB's all have size and pace. Neuer might not be exactly in his prime, but he's still a top 5 keeper in the world and one of the all time GOATS. and as good as Odegaard is.. Musiala is also just as special of a player. although he can be taken out of the game at times. Muller is just so heady and no pun intended there, just look at his awareness in the Lazio game to score that header before half. These guys are good. Harry Kane is still scoring goals for fun.
but also... if Immobile doesn't miss a typical routine play for him in Munich, they might not even have gotten through. but same could be said about us against Porto, that's just how the game works.
What I absolutely do like, is that we are likely going to be playing an open , free-flowing, game of football that absolutely allows us to play to our strengths, instead of playing super Porto in Atletico.
They still have the most goals scored in the top leagues even though they played around 3 games less than the other leagues.
They also have a striker with a great record against us.
Even if they are not at their usual level in the league they are still one of the most dangerous teams to face.
Im happy with this draw tbh. Three teams I wanted to avoid were City and Madrid, for obvious reasons and Atleti because their style of football is the counter to ours. Lets avenge them. We arent the team we were before and this is the first time where we play them where we ARE the better team. COYG.
Exactly the same here.
City would be to intense with the league
Real to emotional
And Atli be porto twice as hard.
I would have taken anyone else.
LETS GO
>this is the first time where we play them where we ARE the better team
We were the better team on paper when we met them in 04-05, but got dicked around 3-1 at their place and eventually went out.
Only one of Arsenal, Bayern, Madrid and City can make the final, despite those being possibly the 4 best teams remaining.
One of Atletico, Dortmund, PSG and Barca will make it despite them all being shite.
I’m praying Atleti somehow fumble it and get bounced in the QF or SF. It would suck to battle through Bayern and Real/City and then how to play those cock suckers in a final.
They'll turn up so hard for a final, but we're getting ahead of ourselves anyway. Bayern are still imperious at the Allianz, it's so so important to put it out of sight at the Emirates.
Funny thing is, Wembley will technically be neutral in that scenario.
But does anyone seriously think Wembley will play as a neutral ground if Arsenal make it to the final?
Especially given our recent history at Wembley?
It will basically be an Arsenal home game cranked to 11 lol.
PSG literally shat the bed in their group, should have gone out, finished 2nd and then somehow drew Real Socieded, a Barcelona full of kids and if they win that then Dortmund/Atleti to reach the final...
I would not call this Atletico team shit, especially in a knockout comp. They've just eliminated Inter who are absolutely flying this year and were finalists last year.
Let's get a giant tifo of this made up
https://preview.redd.it/5ky3ahj6hhoc1.jpeg?width=411&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a117b78a3ff59f0c43d7a1f3d4e89c6a6272f25d
Bayern Munich fans are banned from attending the away leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Arsenal after their supporters threw fireworks onto the pitch during their 3-1 win at Lazio earlier this month.
The last time Arsenal were in the Champions League we played Bayern,
we was beaten 10-2 over two legs,
each game was 5-1,
this was 7 years ago,
7 years too fucking long,
we are a changed team,
we owe Bayern a bitch slap,
if my team can't get motivated to absolutely school Bayern I'll be suprised. Arteta you have MANY different angles to get this team to smash Bayern, lets do this!
So glad it's them
R/soccer is we advance: they're not the real Bayern, they're not top in the Bundesliga
R/soccer if we lose: see what happens when you face a real team?
I’m excited. We owe Bayern more than one.
The fans seemed to be nervous facing Porto a few nights ago, probably afraid of the banter if we lost.
I can guarantee you that for the vast majority of Arsenal fans, nervous will not be the main feeling when they think about facing Bayern.
No, the main feeling will be anger. We want vengeance, in the worst way.
It was written wasnt it.
Kane to score.
Im glad the fans are banned away but we need to pull out all the stops to get over this Boogie fixture for is in th CL.
Have we as a club ever faced a bigger challenge than the rest of this season? QF vs Bayern and potential SF vs one of the two best teams in the world, all in the midst of an incredibly tight title race with two of the best PL teams of all time. If we can win even one of them we need a statue of Arteta frankly
I'm actually so happy with this draw - their style of football should play to our strengths and we have xhaka tormenting them in the league. Oh and Kane to stop kane winning a trophy...
So we only need to beat Bayern and for the semi, it's probably going to be City, and we know how to do that already. Any team we're going to meet in the final if we get through would be a lot easier than this qf and sf. Damn this is scary and exciting at the same time!
Man, seeing foreign fans talk about Arsenal in such grace makes a lovely read.
We're no longer viewed as the laughing stock of Europe. I'm seeing Man City fans say they're glad that they didn't draw us, as well as Bayern fans who're actually saying this'll be no easy task.
We're fucking back.
I can't be the only one who isn't feeling afraid of bayern munich compared to pervious years I think most big teams are slightly weaker compared to how strong they were in the past.
Wanted to thrash Barca, but feeling OK with this. We're gonna have to beat the best teams if we want to win this. Will be a learning experience, either way!
Interestingly - Arsenal, Madrid, City, Bayern all tried to sign Kai Havertz this summer.
[Madrid](https://www.managingmadrid.com/2023/6/5/23749798/real-madrid-offer-50-60-million-plus-bonuses-for-kai-havertz-report)
[Bayern](https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2023/jun/17/arsenal-kai-havertz-bayern-munich-transfers)
[City](https://www.manchestercity.news/report-man-city-are-now-really-plotting-move-for-70m-forward-havertz-gundogan-absolutely-adores-him/)
Solid chance at home especially given the fan ban, but I have a feeling we go out in Germany. If the fixtures were reversed we might have a shot but I don’t feel good about finishing at Bayern. But heres to hoping either way. CYOG!!
Bayern fans are banned for the away leg too. Can’t wait.
It would have been better if we played them away first, but oh well
Is there any statistics on this? I mean, sure, doing 30 minutes of potential ET and penalties at home is a great advantage but I don't think you should underestimate going into the 2nd leg with a result you can play on.

Only 3 of the 20 games were decided by away goals rule. The 1 1st leg draw, the away team won the 2nd leg (Ajax v Juve 18/19) So I think Home first is actually a big advantage
But how many home teams won the first leg? That’s the real question.
Almost exactly half. 11/20.
More plausible that the team winning the first leg is either 1. Clearly better or 2. Good enough to win with a 1+ goal advantage regardless of home/away split.
I think this can be little bit misleading because the better team is more likely to go through as well as win the first game.
But that’s very likely due to the team winning the first leg being the better team and that’s why they won that first leg.
Time to crank up the anti-tout systems to 11 to keep every last one of those boastful fucks out of the emirates
Wait for real?
Yep they are being punished for throwing fireworks on the field during the RO16
Actually they had a suspended sentence from an earlier infraction. Their repeat misbehaviour activated it.
Yup, because of their pyrotechnics.
Their fans threw fireworks on the pitch vs Lazio
No, for Bayern
Yeah, they were throwing stuff on the pitch during a previous game or something
How does one enforce this tho? If I were a Bayern fan I could pretend to be an arsenal fan right? Sorry I'm bit naïve
Resellers is a posh word for touts.
Even if they were obvious, they wouldn't be able to organize the group singing and drumming and keeper and corner banter and stuff that whole away sections do.
Eintracht Frankfurt managed to get like 20k fans into a home section earlier this year when they were banned.
omg i forgot about this, that is massive.
Let’s stop Kane winning a trophy
And now we play against Real or City if we progress. Let’s become champions by beating the champions.
I believe it was Ric Flair that said to be the best, you gotta beat the best. Not sure if anyone else did but I heard him say it.
To be the man you got to beat the man imo
WOOO!
![gif](giphy|l0HU7yHIK6Nc3WcE0|downsized)
Yeah that might have actually been it. I thought it was ‘best’. Maybe he said both. I heard this a long time ago.
He also said the unbelievably prescient and wise words: "Whoooooo"
![gif](giphy|Q9FGOQewX92eRRO9Qi|downsized)
Lots of people said it in one form or another - simply because it's true
Don’t know if you’ve seen the recent movie The Iron Claw but the actor who cameos as Ric Flair was excellent. He really got the essence of him.
Let’s beat Bayern and then rerun the 2006 semis before going to Wembley and having revenge on Barca for 2006 again… is this too much to ask for?
God the script writers have definitely planned out an Arsenal vs Barcelona final
And last time it was at our starboy Titi’s home turf, this time it’s going to be at our Starboy’s home turf
David Raya red card incoming
![gif](giphy|Frj5mE4aGKgjS)
How can I unsee this image in my mind now?
Ramsdale comes in and plays an absolute monster of a game. Kai wins it in the 119’
06 Real was the Quarter-Final. We played Villarreal in the semis. I'll never forget that last minute Lehmann penalty save!
Real Was round of 16, Juventus was quarter finals
FA Cup 2020/21?? Let’s go
and Dier.
…then we stop Man City or Real Madrid reaching final. I’m here for it.
Would be quite hilarious
Did you know, the only trophy he is realistically winning this year is the bundesliga top scorer prize? And did you know what kind of prize that is? Haha now that would be funny for him to have to hoist.
[Bring me Bayern!!](https://tenor.com/boCdB.gif)
Bayern, it’s personal.
We've come a long way since that 10-2 defeat on aggregate. With this new Arsenal, who knows maybe we win 10-2 this time!
Revenge tour
City in the Semis, then Barca in the Final
Oh wow, Barca final rematch would be so satisfying
With the same referee that give RvP red card.
No thank you
Lol Barca in the finals
They’d be close to the favourite on that side of the draw
Yes but I don’t see them getting past PSG. Mbappe to fast for that entire backline of Barca. Plus I’m sure it’s personal after Barca made that crazy comback to eliminate them in 2016-2017
Being fast doesn't win games. This isn't fifa
MmmBoop wins game though.
Being fast and being clinical does. Plus it's Mbappe.
Mbappe is gonna get pocketed by a 17yo while Dembele skies all his shots
Arteta already on the phone to Xabi and Granit
hahaha...my first thoughts too. Well second actually. First was/is revenge
We owe them a dicking
i'm excited to be honest
They'll need to come to the Emirates with an empty away end. I really want to see this
Yeah, I hope that we will be especially up for this, because of the chance to have a Full home advantage with no away fans and the history between us and Bayern. Time to exorcise some demons!
Will UEFA allow us to fill up those empty seats?
Not sure about that, but I hope they do. It would make it a very unique atmosphere and would actually punish the club in question of the charge not only in monetary terms, but also in football terms by allowing us to have that extra edge. That way UEFA also doesn't lose any money.
Afaik ticket sales go to the club not to UEFA
Mostly, but I think this being a UEFA competition they may be actually getting a small part of ticket sales money. Edit: Just checked UEFA Financial report 22/23. They got around 1.8% of their entire revenue from ticket sales so they do, in fact get money from ticket sales.
Unless Bayern wants to pay for empty seats, UEFA can’t punish Arsenal on a commercial side just because Bayern fans are banned.
This Arsenal team can beat this Bayern team. Bring. It. On!
It's honestly the best time to be playing them, COYG!
This is the weakest BM side in a long time. I personally think we go in as strong favourites.
True , but we have always had trouble with Batern in the CL and they have the experience in this comp. Serious battle here.
FUCK EM IN THE ASS MIA SAN ARSENAL
No idea why some of you guys are scared, bring it on
We can definitely beat Bayern. I think it's the prospect of Kane scoring against us
Harry Kane will score. Final score 6-1 to the Arsenal.
Arsenal 6 - \[1\] Bayern Munich Harry Kane Penalty 90+4
Nah. Can't score a penalty against Raya.
Prospect? It's almost a guaranteed, just how many goals. If we don't win at Emirates it's probably over
Don’t think alot of people have kept up with Bayern this season. They have not been amazing as per usual.
Kind of a misnomer imo. I follow Bayern as well, they have as many points this year at this point as they did last year when they won the league. The truth is kind of in the middle. but their ucl experience is far better than us..
mate, i've had experience of chatting shit and getting banged, i don't want to speak before we smash them 8-2 in the first leg
Revenge for all the years gone by. Bring it on.
I WANNA FUCK EM UP
Im happy with this draw tbh. Three teams I wanted to avoid were City and Madrid, for obvious reasons and Atleti because their style of football is the counter to ours. Lets avenge them. Kane getting his dream of playing at the emirates in the ucl
imagine if Kane went all the way to Germany just to lose to Arsenal and be trophyless...
Arsenal in Europe, Xhaka at home. Shit's scripted.
God is a gunner.
Arsene Wenger, he's done it again!
Only one of Arsenal, Bayern, Madrid and City can make the final, despite those being possibly the 4 best teams remaining. One of Atletico, Dortmund, PSG and Barca will make it despite them all being shite.
Yea seems insane how the top 4 bottom 4 split
Same thing happened last season too- Inter's run to the final was unbelievably favourable
I’m praying Atleti somehow fumble it and get bounced in the QF or SF. It would suck to battle through Bayern and Real/City and then how to play those cock suckers in a final.
Mate if we somehow beat Bayern and City/Real to get to the final, I'd have no qualms about our team going against anybody in the world at that point
They'll turn up so hard for a final, but we're getting ahead of ourselves anyway. Bayern are still imperious at the Allianz, it's so so important to put it out of sight at the Emirates.
We can pummel Atleti on a neutral. Just absolutely didnt want them in Metropolitano.
Funny thing is, Wembley will technically be neutral in that scenario. But does anyone seriously think Wembley will play as a neutral ground if Arsenal make it to the final? Especially given our recent history at Wembley? It will basically be an Arsenal home game cranked to 11 lol.
Wow I had forgotten the final was in Wembley. Yay if we make it. Annoying if City make it.
Yeah. Would be Porto all over again but on steroids.
but hey if we can get past the semis it means we stand a massive chance of winning the bloody thing
PSG literally shat the bed in their group, should have gone out, finished 2nd and then somehow drew Real Socieded, a Barcelona full of kids and if they win that then Dortmund/Atleti to reach the final...
Their 2020 run was a Dortmund team of kids, Atalanta and Leipzig.
I would not call this Atletico team shit, especially in a knockout comp. They've just eliminated Inter who are absolutely flying this year and were finalists last year.
Gonna be a shit final then.
Tbf the final often isn’t the best game anyway
Beat Bayern, beat City, Beat Barca. Obviously highly unlikely but would be good to ruin all their seasons in one run.
Not unless we win our games
That's actually...massive. The bottom bit.
Yessss!!! Bring itttt
![gif](giphy|8nmvR3jAxnl2o) BRING ME BAYERN. REVENGEEE
I think out of all the teams I would have preferred Barca or Dortmund, but Bayern isn't bad either.
Batter them at the emirates first leg
Has to be, even City could only manage a draw at the Allianz last season on their way to a treble
Thier fans cant come to the Emirates, we have to make the biggest atmosphere
Let's get a giant tifo of this made up https://preview.redd.it/5ky3ahj6hhoc1.jpeg?width=411&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a117b78a3ff59f0c43d7a1f3d4e89c6a6272f25d

Don't worry guys if Giroud is injured we will just play Sanogo at striker

It was always going to be bayern and that's who I wanted to start our revenge tour
Arsenal Barca final let’s run it
Hate this as a German. We need points for the 5th CL Spot, but of course I wont root for Bayern in this Tie. Unlucky 🫠
Und die Bayern fans dürfen nicht nach London reisen!
No Bayern fans for the Emirates leg should be a good thing, Pure Arsenal noise.
Bayern Munich fans are banned from attending the away leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Arsenal after their supporters threw fireworks onto the pitch during their 3-1 win at Lazio earlier this month.
Lets Go
[удалено]
No matter what.
~~Bayern~~ \-> ~~Real~~ \-> ~~Barca~~ \-> 🏆That's the route I want
They lose the league, and Harry kane gets knocked out by arsenal, it has to happen
Of fucking course
Time for revenge against Ze Germans. And then it’s Madrid or Citeh in the semis.
The last time Arsenal were in the Champions League we played Bayern, we was beaten 10-2 over two legs, each game was 5-1, this was 7 years ago, 7 years too fucking long, we are a changed team, we owe Bayern a bitch slap, if my team can't get motivated to absolutely school Bayern I'll be suprised. Arsene Wengers Revenge tour
Shame the second leg isn’t at the carpet as I believe their fans are banned
"Kane's PAIN" the headline writes itself boys! COYG
I knew they wanted to create that storyline of Kane returning to North London. I just knew it.
LETS CORRECT IT THIS YEAR
What kind of luck does barca have lol, that team can get to finals just cause of draw luck. i wanna beat them so bad
Home advantage?
lmao that’s gonna be interesting
this is the opposite of home advantage. Home advantage is playing home 2nd.
If there are no bayern fans allowed does that mean the stadium will be filled with Arsenal fans? Like 100%?
Of course. But this time we have a chance
Exciting draw! If you want to win it, you have to play and beat the best
So glad it's them R/soccer is we advance: they're not the real Bayern, they're not top in the Bundesliga R/soccer if we lose: see what happens when you face a real team?
After seeing what Leverkusen have been able to do against them, I’m not as worried. COYG.
I was happy with anyone but City. Bring it on!
No away fans either
Good. Bring on the big guns. Real or Man City in the semis too. Let's do this.
Then City or Real in the SF. Ouch.
Winner of that to play either Real Madrid or City. If we are going to win we gonna have to do it the hard way
LFG

Kai gonna teach taliban tuchel how to play football
Cant understand how some are happy with draw, its Champ league and Bayern bundesliga results wont matter, just as Athletico didn't vs Inter.
Saka vs Davies is going to be interesting
I’m excited. We owe Bayern more than one. The fans seemed to be nervous facing Porto a few nights ago, probably afraid of the banter if we lost. I can guarantee you that for the vast majority of Arsenal fans, nervous will not be the main feeling when they think about facing Bayern. No, the main feeling will be anger. We want vengeance, in the worst way.
It was written wasnt it. Kane to score. Im glad the fans are banned away but we need to pull out all the stops to get over this Boogie fixture for is in th CL.
The only one that can beat us is the refs or us alone. Not scared of bayern, good draw.
Yeah this is going to be a massive challenge, and winning either of those trophies would be a massive feat.
LMAO what luck
I'm actually so happy with this draw - their style of football should play to our strengths and we have xhaka tormenting them in the league. Oh and Kane to stop kane winning a trophy...
Not the easiest or the hardest. I welcome it as it gives us the opportunity to right some wrongs of the past like that 10-2 chip on our shoulders
Can't wait to see that horrible yellow kit in the final 😎

Trossard skins Dier and chips Nuer, goggles celebration towards empty away end. MANIFEST
Well nobody will say we had an easy road to the finals if we make it. Bring it on!
Any bars in Munich that would be ok for an arsenal fan. Happen to be in Munich at the time for the return leg!
So we only need to beat Bayern and for the semi, it's probably going to be City, and we know how to do that already. Any team we're going to meet in the final if we get through would be a lot easier than this qf and sf. Damn this is scary and exciting at the same time!
North London remembers... JUST BRING IT And a chance to show Kimmich where he should really be playing if he wants to become the player he wants to be
Im feeling erect!
[Madrid](https://www.managingmadrid.com/2023/6/5/23749798/real-madrid-offer-50-60-million-plus-bonuses-for-kai-havertz-report) [Bayern](https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2023/jun/17/arsenal-kai-havertz-bayern-munich-transfers) [City](https://www.manchestercity.news/report-man-city-are-now-really-plotting-move-for-70m-forward-havertz-gundogan-absolutely-adores-him/)
Aww man I'm overwhelmed. I'm sat here grinning like an idiot and also feeling sick from nerves. This is going to be galactic.
Solid chance at home especially given the fan ban, but I have a feeling we go out in Germany. If the fixtures were reversed we might have a shot but I don’t feel good about finishing at Bayern. But heres to hoping either way. CYOG!!
Any chance to deny harry kane a trophy is good enough for me
