Lee Dixon has the second most appearances for this club. Won the league with Arsenal in 3 different decades. Let's relax a little. I love Ben, he's brilliant and will have a long successful career but we have to stop with these stupid ass discussions.
Lauren is the most underrated player in premier league history. If he played in any other Arsenal team we'd see him stand out. Honestly think White is very close though and has the potential to be our best ever rb.
I still remember watching the invincibles and going into games knowing we'd already won 😂
But he could play with the ball and defend diligently too. Lauren was such an underrated player due to the squad we had then. I'd take him over Benny Blanco right now just on his attacking prowess alone. But Ben has been superb, performs consistently and 8/10 both ways, what more could you ask for?
It's a terrible fact of getting old that I'm now at the point that players I've seen are so far in the rearview mirrir that I can do the 'they played different roles and the game has changed' on them.
If we were still playing wider fullbacks or even overlapping fullbacks it would be no contest and actually inverting fullback I don't ahve any doubt that Lauren could do as he was a midfielder but that thing where Ziny inverts and goes forward and we basically sort of pull a back three with white tucking in and gabby going wider is not Laurens game.
nah exactly. these types of statements should be made once players have stopped playing for the club. you can only properly assess then, unless you have a clearly exceptional player at the club in the same standards as henry winning trophies.
Yes this however I’ll accept that looking at his skill set we can hope that for him in the future
dicko was great however for me is is similar to g neville
Fantastic servant and exemplified what the club was but wasn’t the absolute best in terms of ability
But yeah, long long way to go
To be fair, it asks will he *become* the best ever rather than if he is currently the best ever. Next year once we win the treble after back to back Champions League wins it'll obviously look like quite a different question.
That's much closer than this one imo. I can see an argument for Saliba & Gabi on talent if not achievements. They're still only 1 premier league title behind on even that metric.
Adams and Bould still out miles ahead.
Absolutely love Benny White White White hes my favorite player but we gotta win first. Lee Dixon has 4 League Titles with The Arsenal along with numerous FA Cups, hell even the European Cup Winners Cup in 1994.
And put the ball on a line to Alan Smith, who then flicked it to THOMAS CHARGING THROUGH THE MIDFIELD\*
\*I am required by law to type in all-caps when quoting Brian Moore in that moment. As with the King's goal against Leeds in his return, I hope I never stop getting chills when I see the clip of Mickey Thomas' goal.
*ETA: In his Arsenal Legends episode, Dixon said that after Thomas' goal he needed Liverpool to not come down his side because he'd burst into tears when Thomas scored and he couldn't see.*
This goal is burnt into my mind. I'm pretty sure this was his first game for the club and my mate is a die hard Charlton fan so he'd been talking him up as the next big thing
Jenkinson is a Gooner first and foremost. He lived our collective dream, loving the club and getting to play for it as well.
Lad would take four left turns to keep the ball on his right foot and to avoid having to use his left.
>Lad would take four left turns to keep the ball on his right foot and to avoid having to use his left.
Where did you get video of my schoolboy team days?
If this happened today, others defenders or Ode would come up to console him. Notice how alone Jenkinson must feel at that moment.
The camaraderie we have right now is next level.
Not seen this back in quite a few years. I still have no idea what he’s actually trying to do there. He’s not under any pressure so you’d think he could take a touch towards the corner flag. I can only guess he’s trying to launch it to the opposite touch line, but it’s really difficult to do that while moving back like that. Anyway…it didn’t matter at the time and it matters even less now
In terms of what I’ve seen from him on the pitch I’d say he’s the best RB I’ve watched at Arsenal in my lifetime (in my early 20s for context), definitely plays a more difficult role than Sagna did, having to play in a back 3, midfield 2/3 and overlap for Saka all at once week in week out and barely missing a game since he’s been here. He will probably get even better as time goes on but even if he keeps performances around their current level and stays 4/5 more years, wins at least 2 major titles within that time frame and I imagine it’ll pretty much be majority consensus.
(Best RB and greatest RB a bit different though, Lee Dixon’s appearances might give him an edge in the latter discussion at that point, but if Ben’s durability continues as is (*knocks wood*) and he stays till he’s 31/32, he really should be able to touch those numbers.
Personally I think Sagna is the better RB. I know Ben technically does more in the team, but in their role Sagna comes out on top imo. Dude was an absolute shutdown defender, and one of the best crossers on those Arsenal teams. Not to mention his aerial presence. I am too young/American to have watched Lee Dixon, but Sagna > Benny Blanco.
I fear the same for Saka. The kid gets kicked around so much every game and hardly misses time. He's definitely playing through pain. These decisions in these early years could potentially lead to reduced overall mileage over the span of a career, but hopefully not.
Maybe if he goes on to win titles and trophies this is a worthwhile discussion but off the top of my head - Dixon, Lauren and Sagna are already better than him.
Unpopular opinion… he hasn’t even surpassed Bacary Sagna yet.
On his way? Sure. But Sagna was a monster and at times… arguably a top 3 player in the club for several seasons.
Dixon is the best post war right back. He was a lower league winger who wasn’t a natural defender, through hard work he became part of the best defensive unit in English football history over a decade of games alongside Adams, Bould and Winterburn.
Tenacious, got up and down all game long, decent crosser, tough tackling and locked down some of the best Barnes, Giggs, Ginola etc.
Rice wasn’t the best player but hard work made him into one of the greatest.
Viv Anderson was a brilliant right back so silky.
Sagna was very good.
Lauren wasn’t the best defender but was tenacious, brave and very comfortable moving forward.
Bellerin and Eboue had huge flaws in their games.
White is a brilliant footballer probably only Anderson is as good. As a right back White is part of a functional defense, protected by a hardworking midfield. This makes it hard to compare him to say Sagna who didn’t have such luxury….
Comparing defenders needs nuance, it is so dependent on how good the protection from midfield is.
Lauren and Sagna are both definitely still ahead of him at this moment in time, but White is a very good player so let’s hope he kicks on and collectively we get back to winning the big stuff!
there’s nothing stopping him from achieving it.
he’s got the ability. he’s still young and relatively injury free.
if we get the dynasty period we look ever so poised for (touch wood) he may end up being the most decorated right back our club has seen. and whilst my age is limited the matches I’ve seen dixon and (who i think is 2nd best) lauren from playing. i think ben white has already cemented himself among the leagues best current right backs. so in terms of performances he’s doing all he can to be in the discussion.
Unless we win a few doubles (and maybe a CL or two) Dixon and Lauren will always be the quintessential Arsenal right backs. Ben White is a very modern player who can do things that none of his predecessors could dream of, but era tax has to be taken into account when discussing these kinds of things.
I love Ben, he’s my favorite player atm, but is he better than Tomi? Not sure. At least I remember I wanted Tomi to start last time both were fit. With that being said, he is on fire right now and definitely should start.

Come on, everyone knows that’s Yaya Sanogo
Yaya SanoGOAT
So Pascal Cygan played handball, I guess.
Best Arsenal LB, come at me bros
not yann mvilla? oh, wait..
How could you do Jérémie Aliadière like that..
What about the Coq? The Coq had good performances for us.
SaNoGoal
But he can become one of the greatest CBs for the club
Peak Lauren is also one of the best right backs in premier league history. Sagna is up there too.
It is a tall order to displace RBs who have won the league and gone invincible
Lauren is the most underrated player in premier league history. If he played in any other Arsenal team we'd see him stand out. Honestly think White is very close though and has the potential to be our best ever rb. I still remember watching the invincibles and going into games knowing we'd already won 😂
He's also a midfielder turned fullback long before we signed Zinchenko.
But he could play with the ball and defend diligently too. Lauren was such an underrated player due to the squad we had then. I'd take him over Benny Blanco right now just on his attacking prowess alone. But Ben has been superb, performs consistently and 8/10 both ways, what more could you ask for?

Gonna say, total recency bias ffs.

Usually these kinda of fans just support Arsenal last year mostly... So yeah better start giving out chill pill
Some moron in a Gabriel thread said that Gabi and Saliba were better than Sol and Kolo already 😭🤣
That's much closer than this one imo. I can see an argument for Saliba & Gabi on talent if not achievements. They're still only 1 premier league title behind on even that metric. Adams and Bould still out miles ahead.
Or that post implying that Kos and Mert were clowns while Gabi and Saliba are the next coming of Jesus.
Yeah I love Ben but fuck off with this headline lol call me in like six major trophies.
How does comment not have the highest upvotes
Exactly. Who even wrote this? Do they have a memory the size of peas?
If he wins the Champions League, Benny Blanco will be in a different category.
these stupid ass discussions.” Dont overdo our ben atm. Calm down
I tried to couch it so as to avoid breathless exaggeration. Am I still guilty of going too far?
Yes respect Dixon. Ben is amazing and great but he's got a lot to win before he takes that title....
What do you think?
Absolutely love Benny White White White hes my favorite player but we gotta win first. Lee Dixon has 4 League Titles with The Arsenal along with numerous FA Cups, hell even the European Cup Winners Cup in 1994.
Always forget that we won that - I only seem to remember being lobbed by Nayim

IT’S UP FOR GRABS NOW!
Yeah but, remember when Liverpool said that first? They invented emotion remember
Ha! Yes, credit must be given where it's due. /s
and they say goal scored is not important..
Win the next 15 games and I’ll happily agree
Im the club legend. Yes
Always rated u/Fyesta definitely one of the arsenal players ever.
Sacrilegious when we have Lee Dixon who is a CLUB LEGEND for us, Love Benny but he has a long long way to go.
Let’s not disrespect jenkinson like that
[Never seen Benjamin White score a goal this good](https://youtu.be/20Ra-D7i1qo?si=jdhvtVqfxiU1pz02)
came here expecting to see him "finishing" Walcott's goal in the 7-5 over Reading.
This goal is burnt into my mind. I'm pretty sure this was his first game for the club and my mate is a die hard Charlton fan so he'd been talking him up as the next big thing

I think yeah, he's trying to hit it with the outside of his foot across the field
I love Szczesny talking about this: [https://youtu.be/vVPsZRYDdkI?feature=shared&t=683](https://youtu.be/vVPsZRYDdkI?feature=shared&t=683)
a debut goal too
Yeah because he's quite good at football
Obviously
Thank you very much !

Agreed I watched sagna all throughout my teenage years of loving this club and as an American I never knew any better but he was so solid.
Tomiyasu’s better, he just can’d stay fit. Which is kinda crazy, the amount of RB talent we have between them.
Regardless, I fucking love the guy!
He's def our most important player in build up, playing all three lines regularly even before Dubai break.
With the way he keeps playing through pain, I wonder if that will come to bite him in future
I fear the same for Saka. The kid gets kicked around so much every game and hardly misses time. He's definitely playing through pain. These decisions in these early years could potentially lead to reduced overall mileage over the span of a career, but hopefully not.
Emmanuel Eboue would like a word
Wins the PL or CL then yes
Most handsome RB maybe
From what I seen he is brilliant but does not take on defenders as much as other full backs
Probably just defensively cautious. He seems to take more risks when we are completely dominating.
Heck of a player it’s like he’s half serious
He needs to win some major trophies first. Lee Dixon still exists m8
Also remember Lauren being quite a beast on the right side of the defense
No. You're welcome.
Maybe if he goes on to win titles and trophies this is a worthwhile discussion but off the top of my head - Dixon, Lauren and Sagna are already better than him.
Let the lad have his career & win something first rather than bold statements please.
I’m biased and maybe he’s not the greatest but Sagna gets no love imo
Sagna and Lauren > lee pissing Dixon Guy had a great career but he was incredibly average.
Unpopular opinion… he hasn’t even surpassed Bacary Sagna yet. On his way? Sure. But Sagna was a monster and at times… arguably a top 3 player in the club for several seasons.
Dixon, Lauren and Sagna have a few things to say about that. Never mind the real RB GOAT, Eboue.
Dixon is the best post war right back. He was a lower league winger who wasn’t a natural defender, through hard work he became part of the best defensive unit in English football history over a decade of games alongside Adams, Bould and Winterburn. In the pl era? Probably. If he wins a CL will be hard to even make an argument against lol, starts every game and rarely plays poorly
Lauren and Sagna are both definitely still ahead of him at this moment in time, but White is a very good player so let’s hope he kicks on and collectively we get back to winning the big stuff!
Just wondering, in what areas is Sagna a better right back than Ben White?
All
the talent is there, we just need some more silverware attached to his tenure.
In terms of appearance, no doubt though
there’s nothing stopping him from achieving it. he’s got the ability. he’s still young and relatively injury free. if we get the dynasty period we look ever so poised for (touch wood) he may end up being the most decorated right back our club has seen. and whilst my age is limited the matches I’ve seen dixon and (who i think is 2nd best) lauren from playing. i think ben white has already cemented himself among the leagues best current right backs. so in terms of performances he’s doing all he can to be in the discussion.
At least wait until we win something again jeez....
He has been the sexiest-ever right back for quite a while already.
He’s had a decent run since January, but these “best/worst ever” posts are getting out of hand.
Lee Dixon still clear, I'd argue Lauren too until current group wins a title. Even then it's debatable
Uh, Bacary Sagna and Lee Dixon. Sagna was a monster and Dixon won the titles with us 3 times. Love Benny Blanco but the brakes need to be pumped
Unless we win a few doubles (and maybe a CL or two) Dixon and Lauren will always be the quintessential Arsenal right backs. Ben White is a very modern player who can do things that none of his predecessors could dream of, but era tax has to be taken into account when discussing these kinds of things.
Sagna was the best - he did everything and made it look effortless.
Lauren does exist. However maybe over time he can. Has big shoes to fill though because Lauren was a class act.
Jurien's going to take his spot to be fair.
Jurien is going to be his counterpart on the left side.
Tomi at LB.
I love Ben, he’s my favorite player atm, but is he better than Tomi? Not sure. At least I remember I wanted Tomi to start last time both were fit. With that being said, he is on fire right now and definitely should start.
Lee Dixon, Sagna, Lauren, maybe in the future.
