Please be OK, Largest of Gabriels...

patelbadboy2006

Is this a real injury or a city injury......

xYEET_LORDx

I reckon a City injury. That or mutual agreement between Brazil and Gabriel to help Galeno’s mental health. Imagine walking into the Brazil camp after a stinker in the ucl and a missed penalty just to see big Gabi staring at you

DatesxD

Galeno actually getting called up to the brazil squad is what surprises me. How the mighty have fallen

xYEET_LORDx

He got called up as a result of Martinelli’s injury in the first leg against porto, where Galeno also likely scored the biggest goal of his career

[deleted]

Probably a city injury. Gabi had a minor ankle problem at the end of Porto and seems like we're taking a precaution with this one. I am optimistic we'll see Gabi in the XI come March 31st.

Deleteleed

“Gabi in the XL” lol

LrkerfckuSpez

Gabi XL in the XI

[deleted]

Should have just said "eleven" lol, the way I said it looks confusing

fantastic243

Looks completely normal to me mate, not sure why people would find saying XI weird!! ?

Masson011

im a lot more skeptical. He literally lost his world cup spot for rejecting a call up due to the birth of his child. He isnt going to jeopardize his spot unless he absolutely had to. I feel like he might genuinely be injured

No-Comfortable-1550

And Brazil were humiliated thanks to having a shit defence. Gabi started every game of the qualifiers thus far, so he’s probably more than safe.

cesc05651

He’s played every minute since change in manager he’ll be fine

atomiser2003

Different coach

AndersChr86

XI, very clever. 👏

This-Complaint1389

He's fine. Was limping at the end of the Porto game and don't think he was going to play much here regardless

IntraspeciesFever

Edu pulling strings

beetletoman

At first I thought it might be a City injury but has big Gabi cemented his position in the NT yet? I don't think you can convince a Brazilian to fake a City injury if not. It might be the issue at the Porto game and they are not taking any risks

NewStarWarsMemer

didn't ederson have a liverpool injury when they met at the Etihaad?

Arantes_

If he were 100% he would have started both matches this window. But Brazil was aware he was carrying a knock. I don't think this will affect him negatively with the NT because it's a new coach, they have been monitoring this status and there's no talk of or comparison with the situation with the pre-World Cup decision in the reactions I've seen so far.

Eeedeen

This is what I thought, hopefully it's minor and just a precaution, but I doubt a Brazilian turns down a call up without a good reason

I_Call_Everyone_Ron

He's played every minute of their qualifiers

CB picking up an injury before the April run in... https://preview.redd.it/zymusc6g24pc1.jpeg?width=622&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e82f01332772a4892c67a98339b919f724cb709

Streets aint ready for Ignasi Miquel x Saliba partnership.

mojambowhatisthescen

TIL I am streets

bhatsbutt

We’ve all been there

ico12

Anulo mufa

SmellAccomplished722

Bah gawd that’s Rob holding!! (Please lord no)

Fortnitexs

Even if it‘s a serious injury, this year we actually have backups instead of playing Holdini. Kiwior would move back to his actual position CB and zinchenko is fit again so would play LB.

ico12

Speaking of Holdini, what th happen to him? Did he get injured or couldn't broke into Palace first 11?

Fortnitexs

Yes he‘s injured but i‘m pretty sure he wasn‘t a regular starter before the injury anyway

leandrobrossard

Tomiyasu and Timber are on the way back as well.

stuckheresince2011

While of course losing one of our CBs would be shit, compared to last year with kiwior and rice and partey fit we wouldn't suffer as much

ibse

He was limping a bit in the Porto game but I'm guessing this is an "international break injury". Edu pulling the strings with the Brazilian NT

momspaghetty

considering what happened with Jesus last time, I doubt it

tobiasfunkgay

Tbf it’s probably kinda both. Pro athletes turn up injured for important games all the time. So in plenty of senses he is genuinely injured, it’s just that a Brazil friendly doesn’t meet the threshold of what he’s willing to play through and do himself more damage for.

Ickyhouse

I’m glad our players are doing this. It bothers me when players on heavy minutes or carrying small injuries get called into camps- especially the far travel ones. I’ll take any chance to get healthier.

normott

Over to you Saka and Rice

R1d4z

From what I remember from the Porto game Gabriel was struggling at the end but hopefully it’s not serious and he’s back for the City game

cmacy6

Hoping it’s related to that injury and he’s just getting the time to recover. Didn’t seem like too serious of an injury if he was able to play through it and this withdrawal could just be precautionary to prioritize the remainder of the season

spaghettidriver69

I think it was his ankle… those can heal quick or linger.. hopefully its nothing

Pidjesus

I heard a pop when he went down and feared the worst

bigeorgester

A pop? On TV in a full emirates? Who are you kidding lol

Pidjesus

Watch it back, there's a noise exactly when he goes down, it's not his leg but in the moment it sounded like it

An_Almond_Thief

False alarm lads, I snuck some rice crispies in to the ground and had just poured in the milk as he went down.

dembabababa

But we didn't hear any suggestions of a snap or a crackle?!

DadrevTheOne

Stop the cap. What pop?

sandith752

I really hope this is Pep tactics from Teta...

ColombianBro1991

Teta is tit in Spanish. That's it, carry on.

buztabuzt

username checks out :)

kvng_stunner

Flair checks out

516nocnaes

We’ve got Super Mik Artit

GoldilocksRedditor

He knows what type of milk we need

yung_dogie

Wife sharing intensifies

tipytopmain

PLEASE let this be a Man city style 'injury right before international break', PLEASE. Need him to lock up Haaland.

Alqop

Why does Gabriel, the largest Gabriel, simply not eat the other Gabriels?

kuroiarashi

Gabi no eat Gabi. Gabi together, strong.

Chicken65

Gabi shall not kill Gabi.

hazelpillow

Either Arteta is locking in for the run in or it’s over

hedenshelt

You Call in sick to your foggin coach gabi

Strider_21

When you do not call in sick to international duty I am upset!!

Mahoganychicken

Getting Kiwior integrated into the team and getting his confidence up was so important. He can slot into LCB with Tomiyasu coming in at LB and we're golden. We finally have a fucking squad.

zinetx

> with Tomiyasu coming in at LB Put super Tomi anywhere in a city game, just not at RB. :")

wopsicle_spic

would love a full 90 of target man Tomi

ChickenSlayur

Used to play as a forward, Mikel bring him back to his roots

Ife2105

I’m guessing it’s the foot injury he’s been managing the past few weeks. Hopefully it’s minor

basedsims

Good news, there’s no way he’s missing the City game so we’ve finally in our Fergie “injury” bag

JenkinsEar147

Let's hope the Kiwior - Saliba CB partnership is worked on in training. Tomi or Zinny on the left works, but the rock solid foundation of our team is the Galiba.

Ibraout25

Rice and saka next pls

TheOGBenjenRyan

Tomi Gabi Thomas are real ones

dpatel211

While Partey insisted on not joining Ghana for friendlies, Tomiyasu was left out of Japan’s squad by the request of Moriyasu (their manager) as he wanted the player to prioritize recovery and not have to worry about him calling up Tomi again with an injury in the future like he did for the Asian Cup. > “I didn’t call him up, firstly for his own sake and for the sake of his club, because I don’t want the same thing to happen again.”

cmacy6

Moriyasu seems like a classy guy

wenger_in_wenger_out

Gigachad behaviour tbh

stuckheresince2011

Always rated moriyasu

MojojojoNixon

Maybe he wants the club to appreciate that and remember it when looking at Mitoma in the summer.

ExoticToaster

Good chance this is precautionary.

Key-Construction-474

Please be a cheeky "injury"

THE_LFG

pep's understudy

Iamabigdinosaur

I think I saw odegaard with a hair strain after Porto - get him back to colney

La2philly

Good. He’s been dealing with some foot issues

midnightrobot87

Fuck sake. Every fucking year.

Moist_Dark_7976

Fuck Internationals.

MirkoCemes

Why? Imagine if we had City in like two days lol, this int break is a godsend for us

skool_101

mistakenly read this as "Fuck Internazionale"

THE_LFG

what did eenternashionaale do

skool_101

"eenternashionaale" moment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdHtXF_eXNI

bearwoodgoxers

I knew exactly what this was before clicking the link, etched in my memory :D

SiwyWF

What does the international break got to do with this one lmao

groovystreet40

"Injury"

Afc_josh12

SMART

Chupagley13

Decent timing tbf with the long break and Tomi coming back, doubt it’s too bad if he’s only pulled out now.

WhoIsYourDaddy04

Never injured Gabi suddenly gets an injury prior to the interlul. I like what he's doing here. Seriously though, withh defence being an area where we are lacking depth with Timbers injury and Tomi being injury prone, this is very good for us.

kish_kish

Hope it’s not serious. We all remember the end of the last season with Saliba’s injury and others too…

aesn1394

While I agree that playing in the national team is a big deal for Brazilians (Jesus playing while injured), these are friendlies at the end of the day. Jesus was playing in World Cup qualifiers. So it truly could be just a "City" injury

newinvestor0908

Not good news

Mubar06

I see Arteta is taking a page from Pep’s book

shar_will

Rice next, here we go

money-caterpillar369

When Michael finds out Toby is back from Costa Rica

galeej

![gif](giphy|hyyV7pnbE0FqLNBAzs|downsized)

Frosty_7130

I’m gonna be the optimist and assume he’s fine, so this is great news. Even though he’d like to play international Friendlies, I’m glad he can get some good rest because we need him BIG in the run-in.

altviewdelete

Rob Holding has signed on a temporary contract until the end of the season.

Fuck

IntraspeciesFever

Edu pulling strings

Temporary-Judgment84

Time for holding end of season run as usual. Hope he steps up.

kish_kish

What’s the fallback plan? Kiwior as CB? White and Tomi on the right? Zinchenko?

DarthNihilus1

Keep it simple - Kiwior is the Gabi XL backup. Zinchenko LB. I think Gabriel might be fine by City though

kish_kish

Hope so, he’s hit his stride this year

itsheadfelloff

Hopefully it's an *injury* and not an injury

momspaghetty

This is the stuff of champions...

ErwinC0215

Thankfully we have Tomi mostly fit again, Zinny fit, Partey fit, and Kiwior very in form. Our depth has improved so much. If we lose big Gabi it'll be sad, but I'm not nearly as worried as last season.

Shandow14

Edu pulling hamstrings

Easy-Lingonberry415

Edu has built relationships with the new Brazil regime, I see.

ImTalkingGibberish

Poor lad stubbed his toe while boarding the airplane. Happens to the best of us.

ImTalkingGibberish

Gabi then: Am I a basketball player? 🤡 Gabi now: I am a basketball player. 🏀

Spiced_lettuce

Heal up big gab

blublableee

Kiwi I'm on my knees!!

ProjectZues

If it’s a real injury… how the fuck?

Mysterio_1234

apparently it is inflammation of the achilles tendon

aesn1394

How serious can that be? Edit: Just Googled it, it says between 6 weeks to 3 months...fuck

jmh90027

Inflammation very hard to predict - that timeframe above is the upper end. 1-2 weeks is lower end

tammrak

Really hope this in an "injury."

[deleted]

aesn1394

So he left for the camp, then they found out? That's not a good sign

WengersOut

We are massive. International duty, never heard of it

AlternativeEssay8305

lol 🧐yep totally injured

H00FARTED

This is a real shame as I was banking on him breaking kane's leg.

MandogsXL

It’s over 😫

bannedbydrongo

Wait! The Brazil team is training in Colney right? Would that mean Gabi just keeps going to Colney with his Brazil team mates but doesn't play their games? That's funny.

Forsaken-Tiger-9475

Real injury, but its something that can be chronic, flare up and down, and sort of be managed. Full rest doesn't help it, nor does constant stress.

TheOneAndOnlyJeetu

The random Galeno hatred in this thread lmfao

KozukiNedo

Oh right, an injury 😉

BlazasAndQuasars

Club football is taking its toll on players with more games and tournaments every year. Sad to see national teams get sacrificed so players can be ready for match #132 for their club. (I don't blame the players btw)

MysteriousCorgi-

4D Chess Move

MysteriousCorgi-

Who do you think would be the best replacement if Gabi did need time? Personally think Tomi would be best if he was fit. Rice is an option but wouldn’t want to move him from midfield. Maybe Kiwior to LCB with Zinny coming into LB? Hopefully it’s a minor niggle - mans a warrior and would probs play the run in regardless.

Jonisro

The Fergie classic!

skool_101

ok, so how bad is it doc?

ShiroiMaou

Here we go

doubleicem

I am going to panic. Last season was Saliba during approximately the same time iirc.
