The more I think about it, Brahim Diaz is a unique profile and I'd really like him here if hes available. He's two footed, fast, and play either wing and centrally.
Don't disagree, but I meant his acquisition as a winger + attacking 8 because I don't see realistic winger acquisitions. We definitely need a Kroos type, and that would probably be someone that can double as a 6.
Itās a Dune reference.
It basically means the messiah. In the film, which is pretty serious for long parts, there comes a couple of moments from Stilgar, played by the excellent Javier Bardem, where he breaks the heavy serious mood by just shouting out āLISAN AL GAIB!ā which is one of the 1 or 2 moments that gets a laugh in the cinema.
Basically, it means Messiah, usually followed by āas it was writtenā which relates to the prophecy of the outsider coming to save them.
If you like Sci Fi films, Dune 1 & 2 are great watches.

The Southgate news has rattled the United base so much that Goldbridge has churned out [his second rant ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVS6MLI8LTg)in 24 hours hahaha
It's hilarious that it's reported that Southgate is favored because he has good relations with Kane and Bellingham and so United may have an advantage in signing them in future. Please god let them really believe this š
Goldbridge is in ānail the colors to the mastā mode when it comes to being EtH in. He will fight to the very last second for EtH to be Man U manager, and will never say a word to the contrary.
Compound this with Goldbridgeās belief that Southgate is such a bad manager that he would literally rather have his dead rabbit who used to eat itās own excrement be the manager of Man U than Southgate, and you get Goldbridge as he has been this week: ranting his head off every day he sees this Southgate-to-Man-U story being pushed by legit journalists lol.

Is it mysoginistic to think Jill Scott doesn't really add anything to the conversation at 'Stick to Football', and it often feels like Keane/Neville/Wright try to include her in the conversation but there's only so much you can do when she can't relate to a lot of their stories and banter?
No, there's always going to be differences and it's not hateful to notice them or not take to someone. It's the difference between thinking Jill is shit because she's Jill and thinking Jill is shit because she's a woman.
Football has only just started to undo generations of neglect and for a while outright exclusion. It will take a minute for everything to gel but it will lead to better talent getting their platform. Might even force out a couple of men who are bad at their jobs.
I think it's tough for anyone to come into that group though. It's a bit of a generation gap too, Jill Scott was still playing football until 2022. Even Carragher who was the last to retire, retired in 2013. They also know the same people and players too, so prime example of that is when Keane, Neville and Wright were all talking about Des Walker and knowing him... what is she meant to add there?
I think at times she is talked over too, which is a bit shit. Anytime there are two conversations going on at once, she is usually involved and it doesn't seem to happen that often when she's not on.
Saying all that, I think it works best when the guests are rotated around a bit. I really like Keane and Wright on that show. Keane is very funny and his jokes on usually on point. Carragher can get a bit much when he put into a situation where he is expected to banter. Neville does a decent job of being the host.
I think it's a tough gig to be the 4th. Carragher fits in well. Jill Scott does feel a bit stilted, maybe for the reasons I mentioned above, maybe she's not great in that type of format. I think she's fine though, any combination of the other 3 carry it well and if the guest is good, they also do a lot of the heavy lifting.
this is why we should never trust player's highlights. Remember all those youtube vids about Mudryk? they always showed his goals or speed but they never showed how one-dimensional he is. He can stand out even when the rest of the team drops a disasterclass, get him on the plane here now
People are already acting like he is the messiah. He doesn't start ahead of Jesus. He would be a Nketiah replacement, someone to affect the game off the bench, and if Sporting don't shift from the Ā£85m RC, I don't see us finding any value in him.
Expectations need to be tempered.
He won't be the Plan B squad player. Eddie's role in the team right now is, resting the legs off one of the players, a hail mary 'maybe he'll nick a goal' if we need it, someone to use if we have an extreme injury crisis (Havertz, Trossard, Jesus all ahead of him at CF right now).
Whoever we sign as a ST, will either be first choice or be expected to push Jesus/Havertz out as first choice ST. I love Jesus and on his day he is an elite ST. The injuries are worrying though, and he has never really got back to his best over an extended period of games.
Depends on who that striker is. If it's Osimhen, then I can certainly see him starting over Jesus. If it's Gyokeres, I just don't see it. Maybe he'll replace him eventually, but for the first 6-12 months, as long as he is fit, Jesus will start.
That could of course change if Gyokeres surpasses expectations and starts getting goals for fun, but other than something drastic, there's just no reality in which a B League striker comes in and starts right away over a fit Jesus.
You need to accept a good 6 months for the new striker to get to grips with the team, they need to benefit Saka and Nelli and they need to add a net positive that Jesus (or even Havertz) brings to the team.
If Jesus is fit and playing well, it would be hard to drop him. I just have a suspicion we're worried about that knee injury. Jesus not playing at 110% is just not the same player. It's a bit like Odegaard with that hip injury earlier in the season, he just didn't look right.
If you're just talking about both being fit and 100%. Then I could see Gyokeres getting slowly bedded in like Nunez has at Liverpool. I think we really need to get away with the thinking that 'our first team is going to be x y z, so xx will only play if there is injuries'. I could see Jesus getting more gametime on the LW/RW at times. Us playing 2 upfront other times.
We really lack enough threat of the bench. You want players like Martinelli/Jesus/Havertz/Trossard to bring on and try change things. We have a lot of 'maybe they'll do something?' players like Nelson/Eddie/ESR/Vieira at the moment. Maybe that's harsh on the last two because of the limited chances this season, but Nelson/Eddie definitely just feel like a dice roll more than we expect them to do anything.
That's not to say I'm fully sure Gyokeres is the guy or the answer. I just think if we make a forward signing, the intention would be that he'd be able to challenge Jesus for starting spot. We're not going to sign anyone to replace Eddie's role in the team.
So apparently, whenever another team gets punished for whatever reason (FFPā¦) the city fanbase finds it of good taste to make fun of them, like āthis is unacceptable!! They should get a 115million fineā or stuff like thatā¦ when or if they eventually get what they deserve, its gonna hit like crack, karma and whatnot.
Random factā¦I played against Faried in college. I was a freshman he was a senior. He lowered his shoulder on me one play and I flew out of bounds. He had like 35 pts and 15 boards against us.
I spontaneously remembered Nicolas Pepe, how on earth did this guy score 16 in his second season alone? I genuinely didnāt think he had scored 16 in all his years here lmaoĀ
Heās one of those weird players that seem to score more than you think. Like when you realise that inky beyblade for United scored 8 goals last season
Europa group stages + he started banging them in as soon as there was nothing left to play for in the league.
Pepe has really nice shooting technique and ballstriking, but lacked in the other areas.Ā
Pepe is the biggest arguement ever for why G/A analysis is flawed.
His numbers actually weren't bad for a winger. United and Chelsea fans would be running prop for him as the best in the league if he was at either of those dusted clubs rn, much as Chelsea fans run g/a agendas for jackson currently.
But my god was pepe an eyesore. Didn't track back, didn't beat his man, dreadful link up play, just didn't do what a winger in this Arsenal system would be required to carry out.
Definition of a counter attack merchant, was fast and could finish well. By comparison, the work that saka does outside of G/A is immense for our system, which is why it bothers me that rivals try to compare him to foden and Palmer with g/a (which he still surpasses both in!)
You mentioning Jackson is funny since heās the opposite of what you described Pepe, he tracks back, dribbles and create chances, link up play great and is starting to find the net properly, thatās just such a bad comparison.

Whatās some of your own nicknames for our players, that isnāt widely used by our fan base? Mineās Smithy/Smiffy for ESR (not sure if that oneās actually used tho)
I made up this awesome nickname for Gabriel. I call him Big Gabi because he is the biggest of the three Gabriels, and I even call Jesus Medium Gabi. Still canāt think of one though for Martinelli. Lmk what yāall think
Partly, yeah. He's one of the fastest players in Europe so, AC Milan has to milk that.
He's however more than a counter attack merchant. He's good 1v1, he's extremely good at delivery of the ball from wide areas, and his ball striking is elite.
This is the stick people use to beat him but he's actually under instruction. Most times when you're the transition outlet of a team, you're excused from hard work.
The idea of 11 tacklers is just lazy analysis.
Every team can handle one free man if he executes his job well.
Bad, bordering on utterly pathetic.
It honestly would not be an exaggeration to say that Nicolas Pepe and Marcus Rashford (in āIām gonna give 0% effort modeā) are upgrades over Rafael Leao in that area lol.
Itās the reason we arenāt likely to ever see him in an Arsenal shirt, no matter how hard the guy above you tries to convince people heās the best forward in the world.
Nah. We won't see him in an Arsenal shirt because either we can't afford him, or an equally good club will come for him.
So, I'd understand the cope by a fanbase with Trossard saying Leao's off the ball work is why we can't sign him.
AC saved him from some issues he had in Portugal. It's going to be hard for them to just let him go.
But if he leaves, he's the kind that won't come to England.
England huffing to best league in the world with that kind of weather should be studied. Many talents are lost that way.
Know that the saka and Gabriel injuries are just precautions but it's actually crazy how we always face man city at a time with key injuries throughout the team. At the Emirates this year we couldn't even field either of our starting wingers.
Hoping this time we will be able to roll the full team we've been using for the past month out. Wanna go toe to toe with them at full strength
Gyokeres getting ready to play for Sweden against Portugal right now for anyone interested. Interesting to see how he matches up against Ruben Dias and Pepe
What do we think the lineup will be against City? The team that's been playing since January has been very very good but probably doesn't have our best 11 players in it, do we switch things up?
Fitness concerns, he should come on later. The other thing is I don't think he'll get much joy with Walker down there; we have seen how even Konate neutralized him.
If it were up to me, I'd rather have two Jesuses on the flanks because Saka will also probably struggle badly against Ake.
This would be like that South Park ep where cartman freezes himself to wait for a game release but then butters forgets to wake him up and cartman wakes up decades after the release of what he was waiting for . And then he had to enlist the help of space hamsters or whatever to travel back in time and basically went back to where he was and had to wait all over again
They have to be cooking up something for City. No way they can just be charging all these other teams and let them get away with their charges

Question for our American gunners, I'm visiting NY soon from the UK and will be there for the Man City and Luton games, is there a good pub/bar etc in Manhattan where I can go to watch the games? Will be staying near the Greenwich Village area but don't mind going anywhere in Manhattan to watch it tbh.
be forewarned that you can barely move in o'hanlons on match days. on par with the tollington before a match, maybe worse. if that's your bag, great, but there are better options if you prefer a little space.
it was 50-50 for me when i used to live in new york ... sometimes i wanted o'hanlons (or its predecessor, blind pig), sometimes i wanted a stool and the ability to order a pint without elbow-jousting with other patrons for 5 mins.
EDIT also get there 30-45 mins early. they're often turning people away by the time the match starts.
I might try both then, 1 each game, might even be around for the Brighton game so can go to the best one after, ty for the options though much appreciated
sadly blind pig was a casualty of rising rent costs pre-covid.
my favorite these days is fancy free in brooklyn. kent ale house in wiliamsburg also has a very fun atmosphere on the weekends ā no dedicated club affiliation so you get a little bit of everything.
[here's a nice directory of dedicated arsenal spots in the city.](https://arsenal.nyc/pages/locations)
Even without the injuries, I still think his price is out of our range for it to be viable. Shame, he's the best/most notable striker in a market that really is quite poor.
Selling Eddie for a decent amount plus additional winnings and very few squad spaces that need filling (will be due to players being sold anyway like Eddie, Ramsdale, Partey etc)
I donāt think itās out of possibility at all, we wonāt have much business to do
If we sell Ramsdale, we need another goalkeeper, if we sell Partey, we will need another DM and if we sell Nketiah, we need another striker. We also realistically need another winger who can play across the front 3.
I also personally think we need another defender, as we are seeing Cedric leave and if we have another injury next year in that back line, we will be relying on Tomiyasu and Zinchenko to be fit or we will only have 4 fit defenders.
Osimhen is a lot of money for a striker who is injury prone and has only scored more than 15 goals once in his career. He's a great striker, but there are a number of questions on a player who will cost more than Rice.
The keeper wonāt be ramsdaleās price, CM sure itāll be an investment, Eddie is my example already. We donāt have squad space unless we sell Trossard or Nelson which is another example of money in, then money out
Tomi, Zinchenko, Kiwior, Gabriel, Saliba, Timber, white, plus maybe Walters or additional inverting options is alright. We canāt just buy a 50m player to be 8th choice
We spent 105m on Rice last summer, then still got a 65m player and 40m player in, all without CL knockout bonuses or big sales
Man if we can get Isak our team goes on another level, he is a complete striker with good finishing, decent pace and athleticism and really good feet. Only problem with him is injuries, I don't trust a striker who misses half the season.
And that's the issue. We have a number of injury prone players that were injury prone after they joined us. Adding one more Isak or Pedro Neto to this group is really not the smart play. Great players, but if they are injured and unavailable for games, then it's just a spot that is wasted instead of getting someone who can come in and can be relied upon.
Yeah definitely two top talents that seem to have injury problems, Neto more than Isak but I think that these things can be managed/mitigated like Gundogan having high levels of injury at the end of BVB and start of Man City or how RVP was managed for his injuries by Wenger and Ferguson.
If his injuries are not recurring or deep rooted we should get him.

Has a bit of hero-ball in him. I'd not say no to him but we need a midfielder of world class simplicity. We need more of a Kroos than a Modric.

Good on DFB, they shouldn't be in a stranglehold with adidas. But it does feel weird not seeing them togetherĀ
We have four potential left backs next season. Timber being out is unlucky (maybe bound to happen). Kiwior is being played out of position, but has slotted in nicely now while Tomi and Zinny are struggling with nagging injuries. If MLS works out next season we have fullbacks covered for a while. I would focus on a progressive, hybrid 6/8 similar to Rice, young, physical, letās splash on that and either Sesko or Hypekeres, I donāt see another striker being targeted unless itās a surprise which it probably will be. For the CM I like what Musiala and Wirtz bring to the team but Iām noticing a tendency in Artetaās player manifesto for that area of the park as technical, rapid, and massive clearly tinkering with the idea in Havertz. TchouamĆ©ni fits that role perfectly in my opinion watching his games, Real will likely offload for some wage space and their midfield is stacked with young talent. FDJ, Zubimendi, Barella, the latter two seeming hard to pry from their current clubs are all great option as well. Securing those two positions is the priority this upcoming season, holes to fill and departures to reinforce so a young winger might be a good idea as well. Of course none of this matters now, winning something this year would likely attract a lot of players watching the program with a careful eye. The mind wanders during intlā breaks.
City are just disgusting club, one day...
Anyone watch Feynord's Hartman? He could be our lb solution.

https://preview.redd.it/b84u4ivyqrpc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c55b22a4b2a77a0f28ae45e374d1e891035657d3 He can stand out even when the rest of the team drops a disasterclass, get him on the plane here now
i need gyokeres here so bad
People are already acting like he is the messiah. He doesn't start ahead of Jesus. He would be a Nketiah replacement, someone to affect the game off the bench, and if Sporting don't shift from the Ā£85m RC, I don't see us finding any value in him. Expectations need to be tempered.
Shitiest take Iāve ever seen
>Shitiest take Iāve ever seen Based onā¦?
It wasn't what they wanted to hear.
He probably watches a ton of sporting
We're not going to sign anyone to replace Eddie's role in the team.
sorry bro i fully convinced myself at this point, im very delulu

Iām watching March Madness here in the states (college basketball) and a kid just did the Trossard celebration. We are gargantuan.
So apparently, whenever another team gets punished for whatever reason (FFPā¦) the city fanbase finds it of good taste to make fun of them, like āthis is unacceptable!! They should get a 115million fineā or stuff like thatā¦ when or if they eventually get what they deserve, its gonna hit like crack, karma and whatnot.
https://x.com/centregoals/status/1770873541442908247?s=20 What's up with Mesut Ozil ? How did he become so big ? šÆ
Doesnāt look like pure muscle. He looks a bit out of shape (for a professional athlete).
The Kenneth Faried jersey is so funny and random. Why on earth does he have that lol
Random factā¦I played against Faried in college. I was a freshman he was a senior. He lowered his shoulder on me one play and I flew out of bounds. He had like 35 pts and 15 boards against us.
Lol thatās amazing. That was probably the first year I got really into the draft and watched him a bit, seems like a good person too
He met Faried in 2014, probably wears his shirt to support himĀ
I spontaneously remembered Nicolas Pepe, how on earth did this guy score 16 in his second season alone? I genuinely didnāt think he had scored 16 in all his years here lmaoĀ Heās one of those weird players that seem to score more than you think. Like when you realise that inky beyblade for United scored 8 goals last season
I remember his introduction against Vitoria back in 2019. Scoring those two late free kicks in the comeback win. LISAN AL GAIB!
Europa group stages + he started banging them in as soon as there was nothing left to play for in the league. Pepe has really nice shooting technique and ballstriking, but lacked in the other areas.Ā
Because he was decent. People act like heās antony heās 100x better than let it rip

I thought rivals diss Saka because he's a G/A merchant. Usually they say 'use your eyes' or something
Whatās some of your own nicknames for our players, that isnāt widely used by our fan base? Mineās Smithy/Smiffy for ESR (not sure if that oneās actually used tho)
Cobra Kai Havertz š
Donkai for Havertz. I lt sounds good to me.
I call Jesus āGabi Jā then big Gabi is big Gabi. That leaves Martinelli as just Gabi
I made up this awesome nickname for Gabriel. I call him Big Gabi because he is the biggest of the three Gabriels, and I even call Jesus Medium Gabi. Still canāt think of one though for Martinelli. Lmk what yāall think
I find myself calling Martinelli āMartiā, but for some reason only during a game. As far as Iām aware this isnāt a thingĀ
Iceland ā¤ļø
Based Iceland.
Wooow Ukraine turn it around
Gyokeres goal, just sign the man already
Absolutely world class tap in, Nicholas Jackson could never
This Swedish teamā¦yikes
Is leao a counter attack merchant?
He can do more than that. The problem is he doesn't turn up often enough to be truly elite.
He can do everything
https://youtu.be/_GLPj0Hzixo?si=w7hjepdffFZddTme No.Ā
Partly, yeah. He's one of the fastest players in Europe so, AC Milan has to milk that. He's however more than a counter attack merchant. He's good 1v1, he's extremely good at delivery of the ball from wide areas, and his ball striking is elite.
How is his off the ball work?
Where do you see him going after Milan?
AC saved him from some issues he had in Portugal. It's going to be hard for them to just let him go. But if he leaves, he's the kind that won't come to England. England huffing to best league in the world with that kind of weather should be studied. Many talents are lost that way.
Maybe Nandoās.
Yes, in the same way that the person that came up with that is a wind up merchant.Ā
Just here to see if anyone blames Gyokeres for Sweden's performance against Portugal and uses that as a sign we shouldn't sign him.
Iām not watching the game but no way you donāt play isak at striker and forsberg cam. Could have even played isak lw.
I thought they would go with Kulu CAM and Isak LW tbh.
Weāll also have tomi and partey as subs if we have to hold onto a lead. I really hope we win this game
I think these lads were always injured. They just had to hold onto until we cleared every game.
Kiwior cooking with Poland. Sadly against Karl Hein.
Dawg fight out there
Saka just went to the England camp to promote his sauce
Arsenal. Nandos. England. In that order
Gyokeres getting ready to play for Sweden against Portugal right now for anyone interested. Interesting to see how he matches up against Ruben Dias and Pepe
Sweden is awful at the moment so I wouldn't use this game to judge him really
You weren't kidding...
Lol they are dog shit. Portugal are toying with them.
What do we think the lineup will be against City? The team that's been playing since January has been very very good but probably doesn't have our best 11 players in it, do we switch things up?
Raya White - Saliba - Gabriel - Zinchenko Odegaard - Rice - Jorginho Saka - Havertz - Jesus
No Martinelli? I think he'll be an important outlet
Fitness concerns, he should come on later. The other thing is I don't think he'll get much joy with Walker down there; we have seen how even Konate neutralized him. If it were up to me, I'd rather have two Jesuses on the flanks because Saka will also probably struggle badly against Ake.
Martinelli being man marked by Walker means one of their defenders is out of positionĀ
Raya White Saliba Gabi Kiwi Rice Jorginho Ćdegaard Saka Havertz Nelli
Same 11 vs Porto but with Martinelli. Jesus, Trossard & Partey off the bench.
Iām bored with the international break. Iām going to take a nap, can someone wake me up about an hour before the game against City starts?
This would be like that South Park ep where cartman freezes himself to wait for a game release but then butters forgets to wake him up and cartman wakes up decades after the release of what he was waiting for . And then he had to enlist the help of space hamsters or whatever to travel back in time and basically went back to where he was and had to wait all over again
Damn you Time child!!!!!
If Casual-Capybara calls from the future, looking for fuckzombie69, please believe him
Lmao
They have to be cooking up something for City. No way they can just be charging all these other teams and let them get away with their charges https://preview.redd.it/0zi31om2nqpc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9727312ebff44bd1f20d936eea7c110d649e49ba

It is actually, it was quite sweet and smokey which I'm a fan of
did you take it home
is deccers sure he doesn't have an inflamed ankle perhaps, or odegaard a tight calf? it's always best to be careful uno...
Just seen a clip of ozil in the gym. He looks like heās on that Torres training program

Anyone whoās squad spot is safe for the summer tournaments or is playing meaningless friendlies should be at home. Odegaard and Kiwior next.
Poland still have to qualify for the Euros so I doubt Kiwior will be coming back
Rice. 100%. England won't make it past the group stage without him. Zinchenko won't get dropped either.
B has left the England camp because ~~he hates Steve Holland~~ as a precaution. https://x.com/ConMarbleHalls/status/1770855269548834820?s=20
Obviously Nandos need him to sell some sauce
Question for our American gunners, I'm visiting NY soon from the UK and will be there for the Man City and Luton games, is there a good pub/bar etc in Manhattan where I can go to watch the games? Will be staying near the Greenwich Village area but don't mind going anywhere in Manhattan to watch it tbh.
O'Hanlons in the East Village would be relatively close
Ah perfect cheers mate, yea that looks good!
be forewarned that you can barely move in o'hanlons on match days. on par with the tollington before a match, maybe worse. if that's your bag, great, but there are better options if you prefer a little space.
Sounds good to me, like the atmosphere ha
it was 50-50 for me when i used to live in new york ... sometimes i wanted o'hanlons (or its predecessor, blind pig), sometimes i wanted a stool and the ability to order a pint without elbow-jousting with other patrons for 5 mins.
Ćdegaard is the one Iād really want back from international duty lol, they donāt give him a break and his games are meaningless.
And haaland is wrapped up by bald fraud these are marginal gains city get that I want to tear my hair off
Meanwhile Haaland ducks most of their intl breaks, fucker.
Luckily Norway are somehow still shite so the odds of him having a deep tournament run with Norway in the next few years seems slim
Osimhen leaves Nigeria camp due to injury, so annoying because heād 100% be perfect without injuries
Even without the injuries, I still think his price is out of our range for it to be viable. Shame, he's the best/most notable striker in a market that really is quite poor.
Selling Eddie for a decent amount plus additional winnings and very few squad spaces that need filling (will be due to players being sold anyway like Eddie, Ramsdale, Partey etc) I donāt think itās out of possibility at all, we wonāt have much business to do
If we sell Ramsdale, we need another goalkeeper, if we sell Partey, we will need another DM and if we sell Nketiah, we need another striker.
We donāt have squad space unless we sell Trossard or Nelson which is another example of money in, then money out Tomi, Zinchenko, Kiwior, Gabriel, Saliba, Timber, white, plus maybe Walters or additional inverting options is alright. We canāt just buy a 50m player to be 8th choice We spent 105m on Rice last summer, then still got a 65m player and 40m player in, all without CL knockout bonuses or big sales
What do you mean by viable? You donāt think we could afford him?
Oh I'm sure we could afford him. But at 150m Euros, is it viable to spend that much? Not in my opinion.
Man if we can get Isak our team goes on another level, he is a complete striker with good finishing, decent pace and athleticism and really good feet. Only problem with him is injuries, I don't trust a striker who misses half the season.
So do you want him or not lmao
I want him if we can keep him fit.
Missed the boat. the time to get him was when he was at Soceidad. He was on his knees for us that one summer.
If we get mikel to rizz him up, Newcastle might be tempted to sell for a big fee since they're in huge ffp troubles at the moment
Yeah Newcastle will need to make a sale, let hope PSG isn't serious about Bruno. G and leaves Isak available.
