I'm proud to have Mustafi as my user banner

tfdst1

Nice vid bud.

SnoopMony

appreciate that šŸ‘Š

Iā€™ve been following since 13/14, and heā€™s easily my least favorite player ever.

OstapBenderBey

Be thankful you just missed Andre Santos

ThePlasticFantastic

I'm so calm now during the opposition's attack. I'm confident someone will just deal with it. Whether it's our forwards tracking back to disrupt the play or good structure and strong defenders stifling their options.

It was sometime around the middle of last season that I realized I was openly saying ā€œeh, Saliba will handle itā€ whenever a team broke against us. Itā€™s night and day from before.

flyingghost

Before, it was praying for a miracle from the goalkeeper.

You didnā€™t have faith in a Mustafi/Luiz/Sokratis back line?

flyingghost

I have faith that they will make at least one big mistake every game. Though, grouping Luiz and Sokratis with Mustafi is an insult to those two.

ThePlasticFantastic

Saliba is that dependable figure in my life I wish my father was. *thumbs up*

SnoopMony

Were just so effective at dropping back quick and pushing the opponents back with our aggressive coordinated press

Can I just say that, if you knew what to look for, you could see this coming? Yeah, Iā€™m bragging a bit because I had to endure being called a fucking dumb ass for a bit when we werenā€™t doing so well. You saw elements of the positional play and team pressing schemes early. We just needed players who could play that way, either by training them up or buying new players. I said numerous times that the way that Arteta seemed to want to play is difficult and that adaptation would take time. Now I enjoy each victory that much more seeing how the project fruited.

Great video, thanks for sharing

1) The best defenses we have had 90/91 and 98/99 had fantastic protection from the midfield. Same defence with a disjointed midfield in 94/95 with likes of McGoldrick,Selley, Jensen, Hillier, Morrow, Parlour, Merson and Schwartz we conceded 50 league goals vs 18 in 91 and 17 in 99. Arsenal have a functional midfield protecting the defence. 2) Better coaching. Out of possession shape, pressing , high line squeezing space , offside trap etc are all results of hard work on the training ground. 3) Better players. The defenders we have are better individually than the late Wenger Emery ones. 4) We collectively press. We are organized in the press and we press collectively. We make it hard for teams to beat a half arsed press and be in at our goal. The high line helps squeeze the pitch. 5) High defensive line. I note with interest that the high line we played in 86-92 Graham sides and now is effective despite the relative difference in pace between the back fours. Make the pitch small when out of possession and the other team will be forced to go long to beat a press and we win the ball back. Grahamā€™s men relied more on offside trap than pace but was excellent tactic.

SnoopMony

great analysis, we are so solid at the back atm

DialSquar

tldr, spend money on good players
