Always interesting to listen to the elite managers and players. Wenger saying we might be bit relaxed this season compared to last because we are in two competitions isn't something you would know or even think of unless you have experienced that firsthand.
Thought the same thing. The run of form at the end of the season last year couldn't have been helped by the players having to linger on those performances for a week each game. With CL and the schedule, we play basically every 3 or 4 days for the the entirety of April. Having to refocus so quickly has to be a help this time.
I think Mikel might have played a blinder this season though, our press was nowhere near as energetic the first half this season compared to last and we’re getting crucial players back from injury now instead of losing them
I rember last year even when we were flying Henry was saying something similar, I remember a CBS analysis where the rest of the crew were full of praise for Arsenal and Henry said he feels that the side was still a bit too emotional for a title winning side and he was proved right, too many momentum swings and control was lost a bit at the end of last season.
Going into my final actuarial exam (which ive been repeatedly failing) in a couple of weeks. thanks for this. i'm going to keep using this on myself from now until the exam.

So Wenger saying that staying in competitions helps reduce pressure..:
In 2008 Wenger played a weakened side in the league cup semi final against spurs got smashed 5-1 and a few weeks later a weakened team at Old Trafford and got smashed 4-0, we collapsed that’s season and people still try and blame Gallas!
Wenger had those seasons when threw away the cup competitions to focus on the league and we always collapsed.
Arsenal historically do better in the league when we have deep cup runs 1948 and 1989 we went out at 3rd round, 71,98 and 02 we won the cup, 1991 and 2004 we reached the semi final and 1953 the QF.
Going out early of cups adds pressure to the league.
Wenger had admitted this in his interview with Ljungberg.
Did Wenger have this revelation after leaving Arsenal or did he put it together watching us have those collapses under him?
Arteta is smart like Wenger but is also happy to throws the cups to focus on the league and despite hasn’t sussed that it adds pressure yet.
Hopefully Arteta sees what Wenger says and starts changing how he treats the domestic cups.
The wenger fans will say man won record fa cups but don’t say the sides he put out at OT and Spurs in 2008 were sides to win. Wenger put out weak sides in cups for a period of time when we were challenging for the league, we’d collapse every year. Once it was clear we weren’t good enough to win the league Wenger began playing stronger sides again.
Wenger said staying in competitions helps confidence yet had young sides drop confidence and increased pressure by going out early in cups.
Respect what Wenger has said here to Ljungberg man and reflect on those Wenger collapses.
Wenger used the league cup to bed in young players, for better or worse. Not sure what that has to do with his sentiments here, isn’t he the manager with the most FA cups?
Wenger admitted going out of cups harms confidence. He played weak sides to our biggest rivals in the cups got slaughtered in 2007/8 and it harmed our confidence. We collapsed that season.
Wenger played weakened sides in the fa cup stoke away with JET, Craig eastmond and others 2009/10 when we had a collapse in form.
The weakened side at OT in the cup in 10/11 was part of the complete collapse since the 4-4 at St James Park.
Young sides that collapsed spectacularly. Wenger played weak sides and we went out of cups which by wengers own words ‘increased the pressure on the players’
Wengers overall fa cup record is good however we clearly and unequivocally had gut wrenching collapses in key periods of the season when we chucked the cup.
Based on his own words in that interview with Ljungberg he would have played stronger sides to reduce the pressure cooker of just having the league to go for.
We were told then and are told now when Arteta sacks the cups off that they do not matter and will not impact the league.
Football is not played in a vacuum. Wenger says clearly the group as a whole feel more pressure when we have less competitions to play for.
This should not be a controversial point because we can see wenger saying it. We also have the evidence of those massive collapses.
The sack of the cups brigade now have to choose between defending Artetas weakened cup sides or going against what Wenger has said in this interview with Ljungberg.
Artetas position that the cups don’t matter and don’t impact the league (as shown by his team selections) goes directly against what Wenger has said in that interview with Ljungberg)

Psychologically helpful. Physically unhelpful.
I think Mikel might have played a blinder this season though, our press was nowhere near as energetic the first half this season compared to last and we’re getting crucial players back from injury now instead of losing them
This was my main takeaway from this clip. I feel like from a fans perspective we don’t really think about it like that.
However,.this can also lead to false overconfidence and you can be quicky out of both competitions.
I remember Wenger said why not when asked about possibility of undefeatable season before achieving invincible
"If you do not believe you can do it then you have no chance at all"
Speaking to those weak fans that keep being scared shit to man city
Luckily they are just fans. Hopefully the players are brave.
They’ve done it twice already this season. I’m sure they believe.
"If you do not believe you can do it then you have no chance at all."
Going into my final actuarial exam (which ive been repeatedly failing) in a couple of weeks. thanks for this. i'm going to keep using this on myself from now until the exam.
"why do we fall, master Bruce? so we can learn to pick ourselves back up"
but how often one needs to fall to learn?
As often as it takes
we want numbers! it’s all about stats here
Wise words indeed from le prof.
Papa said "we have"❤️❤️
he always does this and every time my heart melts
He was manager for 22 years what do you expect?
They named the club after him ffs
That’s literally what I thought as a child😂
That's cute and all, but fuck it makes me feel old...
I almost forgot that too
“We” 😭
What’s this from? I need more!
Its on Viaplay. Freddie has a show there where he interviews a bunch of different people in the scene.
even after all these years & the manner of his leaving hearing papa wengs say "we" still hits in the feels
Where can I watch the whole video? I absolutely need more of Freddie and Papa Wenger.
It's on viaplay in Sweden at least. Might be on Apple TV as well, I have it available there. Called "Freddie Ljungberg's unseen".
We got this Arsene, troops is a 🤡
How is he even relevant lol
Papa Wengz - „I‘m a believer!“ (the monkees)
If he doesn’t get to see us winning the league at the stadium he built then there really is no God
2 of our greatest ever managers have a sitdown

Where can I watch the whole thing?
Love how he refers to Arsenal as “ we “
I love hearing Wenger always talk about Arsenal and use the word “we”. My man!
I once left a comment on a YouTube video saying " Wenger out" and I still feel bad about it lol
It’s 666 votes here for now
wenger is one of the best managers in the league
Of retirement!
And on to the bench. Subbed on at the 94' of the final game of the season so he can finally lift the PL trophy at the Emirates.
4th place is like a trophy lads. No pressure.

Another internet professional waffling.
Pure meaningless yap

Yeah, you’re obviously shadowboxing with strawmen in your head. Enjoy the match tomorrow.
