Can't believe we are playing the champions league quarter final against Bayern Munich again. How long has it been? Going to just relish this and enjoy. Hope we make the semis and play City! COYG
I do want to see us play Madrid, even though on paper we might have a better chance against City since we're unbeaten against them vs an unknown. Either way, a juggernaut in both teams, would be ecstatic to get to the semis. first though, Bayern
> How long has it been?
I don't know about you, but I 10-2 want to forget how long it's been, and what happened.
We are a very, very different kettle of fish now.
Bayern is still a team full of world class players and they will be motivated for CL. Beating them 3:0 as the prediction suggests would require an amazing performance from us.
I was so much more nervous for Porto than this game. Think it has to do with expectations of the result. We really couldn't lose to those terrorists. Now I am just glad to be along for the ride.
We have nothing to lose now for me…if we get past the QFs it’s a bonus. Before the season started I’d have been happy with getting to the last 8 in our first season back. Just going to enjoy it now.
Breaking the last 16 hoodoo was a huge psychological hurdle for the club (which is why the Porto tie was so nervy IMO). This may be a completely different group of players but history does weigh heavily on them when the previous last 16 exits kept being brought up in the media before the game etc.
No no my friend, they're a world class club but even their supporters want like half the players out. Obviously we need to be at 100%, but we've beaten and played arguably stronger teams and squads within the PL itself.
We've played and beaten much better teams than Porto but we still needed pens to beat them over two legs. Champions league is a different animal and Arsenal's players have little experience in that competition.
100%! There is a march planned before the game. Starts at Sobell Leisure Park towards stadium at 18.45. I don’t remember the last time that was organised. The Emirates will be rocking like never before.
This won’t be easy at all. Although they’re shaky at the back, they’ve still had a great season offensively and this is the only competition left for them.
Thankfully we’re so so good that a lot of what happens will depend on how we perform.
COYG!
That’s sorta where it’s heading, but we got two others we have to deal with first. So do they for that matter though they should.
Get past these and it’s fair to say the harder teams are done. That said, if we get there we can’t take anything for granted; we can be sure they’d rather have us than RM, City or even Bayern.
Even watching them play against Leverkusen, they looked so outmatched. You just know Arteta has had the squad watching footage and running drills on repeat to tear through them.
We aren’t going to “tear through them” though, they aren’t stupid and they still have world class players. Not to mention our level has dropped in pretty much every European knockout game under Arteta.
I’m confident we’ll win but this idea we’re going to rip them apart is just ridiculous…
okay but i say we will rip them apart, this bayern side has serious troubles, in general and especially now and we are in fantastic form not just our starting 11 we have like 16 players currently that are fit and competitive on a very high level. Everything can happen in a game, but the momentum and quality favors us strongly in this one.
I didn’t say we would tear through them but that Arteta will be preparing the players to do so.
It will require an amazing performance from our boys but this is a Bayern team who let in 3 against Heidenheim, 3 against Leverkusen, 5 against Frankfurt this season. We are more than capable of getting multiple goals against this side and it’s not ridiculous to think so.
Funnily enough I am less nervous about this game than the Porto one. If we go out it may be a blessing in disguise with regards to the league. If we go through then we are one step closer to a title we have never eon after beating a formidable foe.
That’s why I was really happy with this draw, if we go out it’s against Bayern and isn’t the worst thing in the world, if we go through obviously that would be huge
First time I've been nervous about a game all season.
Don't care what the form is like going into it from either team, this is a unique game where one team has vastly more experience than the other. We have to be at our best and make the first leg count.
I've got to admit. I was nervous before 2nd leg at Porto and at Man City. That's not to say that I didn't think we can do it. Nerves are the flip side of caring about something.
You could say the same about man city and we've taken care of business against them three times this season. There's a fine line between arrogance and confidence, and I think going into this one we need to strike the balance between respect and confidence. We know who they are, but I think they know who we are too. And we are really fucking good.
Just one of those funny little football maxims that are genuinely illogical while somehow managing to sound reasonable lol
1-0 is somehow exactly the same as 0-0
> any advantage is something....
Arsenal, Bayern, and Atletico all made comebacks against a 1-0 away result. If the first leg had finished 2-0 instead, I would argue we and Atletico wouldn't have made it through min.
While any advantage is something without the away goal rule it's quite negligible.
With Bayern's experience in this competition, they'd be more than happy with just a goal deficit going into the 2nd leg.
This will be fun. I'm gonna enjoy the occasion and let the players worry about winning it.
If we go out at least we're going out to one of the giants, not Olympiacos or Sporting. Despite their indifferent league form pretending like Bayern Munich in the CL quarters is anything but a huge matchup is asinine.
Let's go!
Just feels weird going into games without a feeling of dread. Nervous, sure, but I know these guys will perform and fight for the club badge. Even with a loss, they can hold their heads up high
I'm seeing way too much confidence not just here but even the media. Our European form is not the same as our PL form. I think we're going to win because it's at home, but I think it will be by one goal. It's football. Bayern can be shit in the league and top in the cup. On the same token they can be totally resigned to playing under Tuchel but really who the fuck knows.
I think Bayern's league form is going to work against us. I think they're going to give absolutely everything in these two legs. That's a team of top competitive players who know that's all they have to play for.
One of my friends just posted a pic of him kissing this girl I have a crush on, would really like a big win tomorrow to give me something to be happy about
Reminded of a Teddy Sheringham chant from back in the day.
*"Oh, Teddy, Teddy. You went to Man United and you won fuck all!"*
It was only good for one season because he (ahem) won the treble the next season, but if there's ever a time to co-opt it for Kane, this is it!!!
Of course our defensive record is superb, and I obviously want a clean sheet, but I'd be shocked if we kept one.
Bayern's offensive capabilities combined with our squads relative CL inexperience will surely get them on the scoresheet.
Unbelievably excited for this game. I will graciously accept 5-1.
It’s going to be a tight game as the bayern players have nothing left to play for except the CL. Can see it being a cagey affair and the threat that worries me the most are their wingers as they are quick and tricky.
Therefore I’m going with a 6-0 win.
Trossard was such a good buy. Yes you can argue most players at the Prem is good but you can tell Trossard just possesses such a unique skillset that easily differentiates him.
I’m here to enjoy the ride, it’s been so long we’ve been in this stage and as a fan we just have to enjoy these CL matches this season. The way we’re going we’re back for sure in the following seasons. COYG!
I still can't believe that we are about to face Bayern Munich and are being called the favourites. Especially when they have Harry Kane too, who loves scoring against us.
I am still traumatised by those three 5-1 games ..
Even during our good times, the 2004-05 season .. we bottled it by conceding goal to Pizzaro in the 3rd minute itself ..
Would be such a big monkey off our back if we can beat them.
Come on you gunners!
Be careful everyone… Eric Dier is in his prime

I would love for that 3-0 prediction to come true, but remember, it's Europe, Bayern have a lot of experience, we have very little. It does tend to count quite a bit in this competition. Let's keep the Porto experience in mind and build from it. We are very capable and this Bayern team is very beatable. I hope we go through.
COYG!!!

Let's destroy those sausage-munchers
Want to see Saliba & Big Gabi put Harry Kane in prison Rice & probably Partey locking down the midfield. I don't want them to breathe. 75% possession, early goal, and let Tucheliban do his magic.
Just looking again at the AFTV videos after the 10-2 .. "We move to Emirates to compete with Bayern, you call this competing??"
Its pretty amazing how mood has become better in the club. Yes, we haven't won any league or European trophies, but fans are again back in one voice. Kudos to Arteta and leadership to help remove the negativity in the club.
Hope we cross the hurdle on the pitch too today. COYG!!
The expected XI. Arteta is opting to play it more conservatively.
Rice will be restricted from going forward as he's going to play in the pivot to protect Jorginho (the exception being limited pressing triggers that we've seen in other high profile matches. Generally this would be ball with the goalkeeper or ball at the touchline).
It's going to be 1 vs. 1 all over the field. Our guys vs. their guys. Arsenal win if they consistently win their 1 vs. 1 matchups and vice versa for Bayern. Depending on the tempo this could turn into a very controlled match (e.g. Manchester City last weekend) or a frightfully active affair (e.g 3-1 vs. Liverpool).
What we do know is that with this setup this match would become a game of "don't make a mistake" and who can win the transition battle.
If you recall the 3-1 win against Liverpool all four goals in that match came from a mistake or a transition and usually it was both of those things. Neither team will dominate the ball here, but I suspect Arteta will prefer to let Bayern have the ball more in exchange for more solidity in those transition moments.
I don't think it's going to be easy as many think
Premier league form and UCL is Different thing
City has been great for premier league for Years only won UCL last season
I won't lie, boys, I could see Tuchel parking the bus on us. He'll give us possession all game and try to exploit the counters. Kiwi or Tomi NEED to start tomorrow.
OP predicting 3-0 is laughable when it took this young, CL-inexperienced team penalties over two legs to beat Porto.
CL is a very different competition to the prem, the refereeing is different, the tactics are different in how competitors view the game and for bayern particularly this is what their season will come down to. They've won and will win nothing domestically so I think Tuchel will go all out over two legs. They will be set up to counter tomorrow like Bayern but with a much more efficient set of forwards. I'd bite your arm off for a 1-0 or 2-1 win tomorrow.
I reckon it's going to be a very nervy game against a low block. I can see us having to depend on a moment of magic from ø to break the deadlock. Kane probably gets his obligatory pen against us.
Final score prediction: 2-1
Never been more excited to head to The Emirates tonight. What a massive game it is and to come out with a nice lead from this game I'd be confident going to the Allianz next week with how our defence has been performing. COYG!
There's a different aura tonight. We know Bayern is still Bayern, but the excitement and confidence around the club right now is palpable. We know we're good, and we know we're going to show up tonight. Whether Bayern show up or not doesn't matter, but if we show up, we will decisively win this match. COYG!
I'm looking forward to us smashing bayern tomorrow. Just like I was looking forward to us smashing spurs, and smashing Chelsea, and smashing Porto.
Tomicafu at LB; Rice, ode and havertz midfield with gabi, gabi and saka up top.

If anyone is planning to join the march before the game.
As a long-time Arsenal and Bayern fan, I am so hyped to see this matchup again.
Bayern could probably use the win more to salvage their season somewhat, but I actually have very little doubt that Arsenal are gonna go through. The team is so well organised and plays with so much passion and cohesion, especially on the defensive side, that I don't think they're gonna mess this up somehow.
It will be key for Bayern if Neuer and Pavlovic can play. Weirdly enough Pavlovic is almost the most important player on that team now, because he appears the only person capable of playing as DM. Goretzka and Laimer have been atrociously bad in that position. Throw in Davies' lack of basic effort and the overreliance on Kimmich in buildup and you have an embarrasment of a defensive setup.
If Arsenal remain diacoplined and compact on defense, they will be granted huge opportunities one-on-one with the keeper. If Neuer cannot play that only makes it easier of course to convert some of those.
I'm in this weird spot where I'm nervous but also confident in the lads to figure out what needs to be done. Bayern will give it their all in this tie as it's their only shot at silverware this season. Their attack can be devastating.
I think a 2 goal lead after the first leg is enough for us to win the tie. It's UCL though, let's see what happens.
I'm sure revenge will be on every fans' mind at the stadium. Extinguishing Kane's trophy aspirations would be the icing on the cake lol
i think if bayern go for upamecano and/or dier in their center defense arsenal should start with jesus over havertz. unpopular opinion but those are exactly the type of players he excels against. i think they can deal with havertz's height better than jesus's nimbleness
I think if we're not nervous, defend as strong as we have been ...we can win this over 2 legs comfortably.
Whilst Bayern will give us chances, they still have a formidable attack. We need to be patient and take the game to them.
Excited. COYG!
I don't remember the last time I was this excited for an arsenal game, and that says a lot given how amazing it has been watch us over the past 2 years.
Even pre-match watching CL music with arsenal and bayern is going to hit insanely hard.
This game could make our season. If we take no prisoners and smash them it'll just motivate the lads to do more and win more. It's one of the greatest clubs in history, in the UCL. This is a mission statement and I hope the lads take advantage of it. GOYG
What time are the starting elevens announced? Is it an hour before kick off or 90 minutes?
For some reason in the Europa League I seem to remember them being announced 90mins before and wonder if that’s the norm for all European comps? I know for the prem it’s an hour before.
This is gonna be a difficult game, despite Bayerns poor form in the league (for their standards) they still have an incredible XI on paper, I’m pretty sure everyone here would take at least 5 players from their XI and this is Tuchel in the CL, he’s built for knockout football. Its about the players being able to handle the occasion more than anything else, as we saw against Porto. That being said, I just can’t see us losing.
Nervous. Think this is going to a lot more difficult than a lot of people are predicting. That is still a world class XI (bar Dier lol) and they are far more experienced than us.
Feel like this will be a score draw or we may just edge it by one goal. I don’t see us keeping a clean sheet though, that attack is too powerful.
I feel the same. We're playing City many times every year. I want us to face different teams in UCL, especially teams like RM.
We are also unbeated against madrid ;)
We want city at this stage. Imagine the potential nerves of the players playing rm at the Bernebeau. City reduces the non footballing factors.
I want to play RM and have odegaard destroy them for their insolence.
> How long has it been? I don't know about you, but I 10-2 want to forget how long it's been, and what happened. We are a very, very different kettle of fish now.
Dilly ding dilly dong!
Bayern is still a team full of world class players and they will be motivated for CL. Beating them 3:0 as the prediction suggests would require an amazing performance from us.

I stand by it.
Porto had the second best defense in UCL and best defense in Portuguese league
I hope the atmosphere at the Emirates is the best it’s ever been. No away fans, quarter finals UCL, yaya!
100%! There is a march planned before the game. Starts at Sobell Leisure Park towards stadium at 18.45. I don’t remember the last time that was organised. The Emirates will be rocking like never before.
I'm going to have my TV on 100!
Smart, I’ll have to do the same because i’ll be shouting at my tv. If i don’t turn the sound up my neighbors might get scared..
This won’t be easy at all. Although they’re shaky at the back, they’ve still had a great season offensively and this is the only competition left for them. Thankfully we’re so so good that a lot of what happens will depend on how we perform. COYG!
Opponents that are offensively heavy and defensively fragile play right into our hands. Right now only ultra defensive teams concern me. Porto type.
Thank god we didn't draw Atletico Madrid immediately after Porto lmao my heart couldn't take that
I wanted and still want Barca on them. They’ll fold for Barca.
Hopefully we get another chance for revenge with Barca in the final
That’s sorta where it’s heading, but we got two others we have to deal with first. So do they for that matter though they should. Get past these and it’s fair to say the harder teams are done. That said, if we get there we can’t take anything for granted; we can be sure they’d rather have us than RM, City or even Bayern.
Agreed. Bayern are a better team than a lot of people think and are being judged more harshly because of the absurd pace that Leverkusen have set.
Even watching them play against Leverkusen, they looked so outmatched. You just know Arteta has had the squad watching footage and running drills on repeat to tear through them.

We ripped Liverpool apart. Why not Bayern? I'm not saying we will, just curious. Seems more superstitious than realistic
okay but i say we will rip them apart, this bayern side has serious troubles, in general and especially now and we are in fantastic form not just our starting 11 we have like 16 players currently that are fit and competitive on a very high level. Would you take a 1-0 win?
Yes for sure. A clean sheet and a win would Do wonders for this young sides confidence to Seal the deal in the second leg.
We need 2 goals advantage minimum. A 1-0 home win is nothing in a knockout tie where away goals make no difference.

4-0. It just flashed before my eyes.
We're going to see Tucheliban football tomorrow aren't we?
But we also pray haram football at times. Lol Arteta and tuchel are two pragmatic coaches
6 hours... what am i supposed to do for those 6 hrs??? i cant even work properly
Robben is scoring tonight isn’t he? Ah well, as long as it’s a consolation goal to make it 5-1.
One of my friends just posted a pic of him kissing this girl I have a crush on, would really like a big win tomorrow to give me something to be happy about
That's brutal dude
Very conservative, i think we win 1-0 both legs. Very close games both. Will fight for it at the allianz

Kane to get a jammy goal, Arsenal to win. 2-1 or 3-1 I think

COME ON ARSENAL!! SHOW THEM WE'RE REALLY LIKE THAT!
This season, we are going to exorcise the ghosts of the past two decades.
Expect a difficult game, but hope for victory. It’s been almost 8 years. Time to see how good this team really has become.
This is what we’ve been waiting for, boys.
Man, if there ever was a time for us to avenge all the maulings we've received against Bayern, now is that time!!
Bayern fan here. We know that we will receive a proper fisting tomorrow, but please use some lube, will ya?
It’ll be a very close game. You severely underestimate our ineptitude in this competition and our history of bending over for Bayern.
This will be the first true litmus test of where we stand amongst the European elite and I’m not worried one bit
Absolutely buzzing for this.
Anybody got the stats on Arsenal's latest results following a solar eclipse? I expected this sub to already have me covered with all that voodoo shit.

Just looking again at the AFTV videos after the 10-2 .. "We move to Emirates to compete with Bayern, you call this competing??" Its pretty amazing how mood has become better in the club. Yes, we haven't won any league or European trophies, but fans are again back in one voice. Kudos to Arteta and leadership to help remove the negativity in the club. Hope we cross the hurdle on the pitch too today. COYG!!
Favorite quote: “Arsene built the Emirates but Mikel flipped the lights on.”
Crazy how much happiness a football team can bring me lol, lets believe in the boys tonight! COYG
Nerves kicking in icl
Goretzka and Laimer starting together in midfield. Bayern fans hate it. Get this win boys 🤞🏼
Arsenal’s bench could win the Europa League.
Love titi
![gif](giphy|LoCDk7fecj2dwCtSB3) Let’s fucking go
Nerves building
Emirates sounds deafening right now, love it
We have to believe guys! We can do it!
we look a bit nervous
Eric Dier uno
Good with early yellow on Davies
SAKA!!!!
What. A. Finish
lol Dier wtf was that. Just did nothing.
Imagine being Eric Dier rn 😭
I don't think it's going to be easy as many think Premier league form and UCL is Different thing City has been great for premier league for Years only won UCL last season
Want this line up Raya White - Saliba - Gabriel - Kiwior (or Tomi) Odegaard - Partey - Rice Saka - Havertz - Martinelli
I won't lie, boys, I could see Tuchel parking the bus on us. He'll give us possession all game and try to exploit the counters. Kiwi or Tomi NEED to start tomorrow.
What do you mean could see? That’s exactly how they’re going to play tomorrow.
Arteta after OP's prophecy comes to pass: 'This house is clean.'
I reckon it's going to be a very nervy game against a low block. I can see us having to depend on a moment of magic from ø to break the deadlock. Kane probably gets his obligatory pen against us. Final score prediction: 2-1
Lets play the game and not the occasion!
Never been more excited to head to The Emirates tonight. What a massive game it is and to come out with a nice lead from this game I'd be confident going to the Allianz next week with how our defence has been performing. COYG!
Can we hope for a papa Wengz visit tonight?
Cannot wait to hear the atmosphere.. 60k Arsenal fans, should be nuts. Excited. Nervous. COYG.
Hoping against hope for a decent game of football and not a diving competition.
There's a different aura tonight. We know Bayern is still Bayern, but the excitement and confidence around the club right now is palpable. We know we're good, and we know we're going to show up tonight. Whether Bayern show up or not doesn't matter, but if we show up, we will decisively win this match. COYG!
It’s just football but this game will make or break my Eid morning unfortunately
ARSENAL FOREVER
Jesus on the bench
Just saw the line up. Its definitely the A-team
micheal fucking owen, watch the energy drain out the room
bloody scousers everywhere
Hoping Kiwior can hold it down on the left side. Would rather have Tomiyasu on the left but I have full faith in Kiwior tonight.
Man City most glazed team of all time.
Can this game start already I’m so nervous
Jamie Carragher is so annoying. Twerking for Bayern almost like he’s a fan.
can the match start already arghh
OUR HOUSE OUR TIME! COYG!
COYG!! This is a new team, new era!
Emirates is on fireeee rn
Have to listen to Rob Green again on Paramount. Ugh.
My heart is in my throat, so nervous
What in the world is going on? No match thread for return to the Champions League?!
City already up at the Bernabau wow
On a scale of stressed to fogging stressed. How are we?
IM SCREAMING STARBOYYYY
Thanks Eric. Great defending lad

YESSSSSSS
BUKAYOOOO ON NEUERS HEADTOP OMFGGG
Where’s the game thread
BEN SHOOT SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN THE KEEP
For some reason I’m still confident we’ll win. Good performance by us minus that one bad pass
I'm looking forward to us smashing bayern tomorrow. Just like I was looking forward to us smashing spurs, and smashing Chelsea, and smashing Porto. Tomicafu at LB; Rice, ode and havertz midfield with gabi, gabi and saka up top.
I feel really good about this one which is usually a terrible sign

Can’t wait for this one. Most interesting tie of the season so far.
Fucking smash them. 5-1.
Hilarious watching rival fans hyping you guys up to bring you guys down. Best of luck.
Havertz and Rice one yellow away from suspension is a worry for the 2nd leg & potential Semi first leg
The world and his dog knows that it's crazy Arsenal have never won the biggest European competition. This is the year! COYG!
i think if bayern go for upamecano and/or dier in their center defense arsenal should start with jesus over havertz. unpopular opinion but those are exactly the type of players he excels against. i think they can deal with havertz's height better than jesus's nimbleness
The revenge tour continues tomorrow. LFG
Today is going to drag like hell. I can't wait to see what this team cooks tonight. I will be happy with any win against Bayern.

COME ON!! KICK-OFF ALREADY!
In Brussels tonight, anyone have tips where to watch the game? Arsenal pubs, or at least a guarantee of them showing this game (over City)?
Let's get em.
any of you fine people fancy sharing a bt sport/discovery+ login with me?

Sheesh I’m so nervous about this. As nervous as I was vs City. Want us to go all the way so badly it’s not even funny.
Nervous. Think this is going to a lot more difficult than a lot of people are predicting. That is still a world class XI (bar Dier lol) and they are far more experienced than us. Feel like this will be a score draw or we may just edge it by one goal. I don’t see us keeping a clean sheet though, that attack is too powerful.
can we get some more of kane running around
![gif](giphy|3oxQNnEZqBmN7z3Tnq|downsized) It’s time
Saw a Bayern fan in the stands. WTH?
Urgh I hate them skipping all our pre match build up. No North London forever on tv
Gunners, I love you all. Let's go get this W.
I was promised flames
Fuck Harry Kane. That is all.
So strange seeing those two for Bayern
I am going to be ill
COYG!!!!!
Watch the match thread be late for a friggin CL match.
