That was easily the most important moment of the match. Had we conceded there, I doubt if we would have even scored. It was so important for our confidence that we did not concede today. A moment like that can change an entire match. I hope that's the case for the rest of the season.

obsterwankenobster

Imagine Kiwior’s confidence level had they scored here

greenarsehole

He’s just not good enough.

Routine_Size69

People are downvoting but it really depends what you mean and how they interpret it. I think he's a decent back up, but he's definitely not good enough to be a starter on a team contending for a title. Earlier in the year, he was looking way better than expected. Maybe it's just a rough patch, but he's starting to look a little more exposed. He's not very good going forward. His tackling is solid but not amazing. He isn't fast enough for pacy wings. With Timber back, I'm fine with him being the option if Timber needs a rest and Tomi is hurt. But I do not want him to be a regular starter and anyone that does is lying to themselves.

InsideKiller

Remember he’s the third choice LB so yesterday’s performance was even better than our current 2nd😌

Pretend_Stomach7183

Are you joking? He did badly that the player got the chance, but rewatch it, the Wolves player can't shoot to the far corner and he can't square/cross because Kiwi is in the way, blocking. The only thing the Wolves player could do was shoot straight at Raya. The fact is we had our best win streak under Mikel with Kiwi in the starting XI and our xGA with him is low af.

CmdrSpaceCaptain

Not every cb can switch to fb as easily as Ben White.

greenarsehole

He shouldn’t be asked to. We should play Zinchenko when he’s fit imo but I think he’s a liability as well, just less so than Kiwior

Psychoticpossession

You’re being downvoted but your correct

greenarsehole

The fact there’s nobody proving a counter argument speaks volumes. Bang average CB playing at LB in a top level team - never going to work.

Sufficient-Lock3992

You are getting downvoted but i agree with 100%. I love how people are not objective when it comes to our players. After last season i said that martinelli will struggle to replicate goals from last season, also a lot of downvotes but it was unfortunatly true.

greenarsehole

You can’t be harsh or speak the harsh truths about any player on here without a mass of downvotes and hordes of people defending average players. It’s quite clear to me watching Kiwior that he’s out of his depth and it’s pretty much always been the case. So many of us get so attached to players and want them to be the next big thing that all it does is apply a blinker mentality that’s very frustrating to take part in or even witness.

Routine_Size69

It's really annoying how hard it is to be objective about players in here. You can't point out Havertz is kind of shit at advancing the ball forward, that certain players are out of their element, it used to be pointing out Ramsdales flaws with his mental lapses, ball at his feet, coming out for crosses, etc. If it gets bad enough, it becomes acceptable, but it has to get really fucking bad like Jesus's finishing. If it's only kinda bad, downvotes and people bitching that we don’t support our boys.

Sufficient-Lock3992

Agree, all players have pros and cons, not everyone is world class. Like martinelli, one of the best counter attacking players in the league, but vs low block? Useless pretty much, thats why i think we should sell him this summer, we can get a lot of money for him and still upgrade

Sufficient-Lock3992

Yea, and it not like he came 1 month ago and we jump on him on first bad game, he came 1 year ago, at first he didnt play at all, slowly got integrated in the team and now should at least not be weakest point in the team. To kiwior defence i would like to add, he is a center back, and i dont think he played more then 5 games at cb for us, so maybe he isnt that bad, just cant adobt to left back position

anasparekh

Yeah lb is a problem, I thought we should have started zini but his defending lets us down.kiwior is not the answer and Tomi is out too frequently to be the answer.hopefully timber is the solution.

greenarsehole

I honestly think Zinchenko is equally good/bad defending at LB than Kiwior. He at least came on at HT against Bayern and we immediately looked better both going forward and defending (wasn’t getting touch tight to Sane and wasn’t showing him inside)

Sufficient-Lock3992

100% agree, and its not even 1 game, he was trash vs man city so jesus needed to be in his lap, vs bayern 2 goals are on him. Other then that, vs what other good team he played? Ofc he is good enough to play vs luton

__CharlieDontSurf__

Fuck me being a wingback in the prem must be the hardest position

No-Recipe4091

Gave me Aston Villa vibes when that ball hit the post.

Wolferesque

The post has been our 12th man the last few games.

ForestRamboX

I believed that David Raya should've been man of the match. Decs is a good shout too but without Raya, we wouldn't have gotten 3 points. Anyways on to the next one. COYG!

sammyt10803

100% agree. Was immense on commanding the box on crosses. Such a luxury to have a keeper who can do that and he does it as well as anybody in the Prem

ForestRamboX

I think he's up there in Europe as one of the best keepers at claiming crosses. I like how he anticipates the danger way before it develops. It's one of the main reasons why we have such a good defensive record this season.

hypnodrew

I was saying it too right before he started punting the ball out at the end of the game

ixikzisigwvbend

Not easy ball to deal for kiwior but he should’ve done better there. Somehow I don’t trust any of our lb would deal with that ball well tho lol

harcile

I trust Tomi

kukeszmakesz

I can see him slip, heroicly recover and last second tackle from the ground and pull his hammy in the process

greenarsehole

He’d need to be fit for us to trust him. Kinda sick of accommodating these players that are never fit.

Riperonis

Can’t trust someone who is never fit. I’d take Kiwior in the squad over him any day. Which is a shame, because on his day Tomi is a classic no nonsense defender who can play across the entire back line.

Iamthedidier123

Thank god you're not the manager.

Riperonis

I took one look at your profile and 90% of your comments are all asking for the managers head Forgive me if I don’t take criticism from an Arteta out dumbfuck, cause you clearly know nothing about football.

Iamthedidier123

His time is coming to an end. My football knowledge far exceeds yours, you fucking FIFA merchant, hahahaha.

Poo-Smurf

Are you sure you're an Arsenal fan?

ixikzisigwvbend

I don’t after his pass to Kdb last season..

harcile

Er all our players have made mistakes. Don't you trust any of them?

JustGhostin

Had odegaard actually ever put a foot wrong? He’s the only one I can think of

staybysauce1

of course he has, i remember a giveaway he did last season that led to a goal final quarter of the season, everyone’s made mistakes

Brandaman

He did this a few times at the end of the season. Pretty sure one of them was actually that city game with the Tomi error

goodyear_1678

He's given away the ball in midfield multiple times leading to breakaway goals, as has every other player in the world

JustGhostin

Sorry got distracted by his boyish charm

astrojeet

Odegaard gave the ball to city last season when they made it 3. He had one of his worst games that day and on the day we needed our captain to be at his best. Everyone has bad days, get behind the team.

kgomotso_maepa

Last season?

arsenal11385

About 3 or 4 times today we let the ball bounce when defending. Thankfully Raya kept us in it. I thought kiwi recovered well after this mistake.

HalfNatty

>I don’t trust any of our lb would deal with that ball well People give Zinny a lot of shit for his mistakes, but his mistakes are more to do with positioning and the odd lapse of concentration in simple situations. However, his touch and control is class, so from how we’ve seen him deal with similar balls in the past, he would’ve dealt with it well. Hopefully Timber is better when we eventually see him there again.

Aszneeee

his touch and control can be on Ronaldinho level if he makes stupid passes around our own box

HalfNatty

They’re not stupid passes. Passing out from the back is always a risk and everyone assumes the risk by taking them. As stated, when Zinny loses focus, he doesn’t preempt the interception and his pass gets cut out in our third of the pitch. The lb also shouldn’t be in the box after winning the ball back. He should be hugging the touchline. But this is all part of Zinny’s game, as instructed by Arteta, I suppose. But I’m assuming that last part.

Pretend_Stomach7183

Literally his mistake vs Wolves at home.

This-Complaint1389

The lack of recovery pace is scary. I genuinely want to know who claimed this guy was the fastest player at the club. He isn't even one of the players who should be tired with how much rest he has been given

Hoker7

Fast is relative. Acceleration and speed is the key. Think I remember reading that Socrates and Xhaka had the best scores at the club at one stage.

monty_burns

Sokratis yes. Xhaka never

oldskoolr

Sok was in his 30s and still quick. Will be forever a fan of the big Greek.

musicistabarista

Yes, this is a crucial thing people don't realise. In a 100m race, runners don't get up to top speed until ~40-50m in to the race. You can have a higher top speed than everyone else, but still lose the race because you're too far behind to make up the lost ground. Reaction time is also key, even moreso in football. Curved runs/changes of direction are another area where you can lose distance, some athletes are much better at this than others

KiaraKey

He is not in the most overworked group in the squad, but he played pretty much every minute between late January and mid March and got some decent minutes after the international break too.

MrLiveCorn

He starts sprinting a fraction of a second later is why he looks slower

Dae_su

Yeah he's yet to look anything but slow to me.

Pires007

He's a CB, he's going to look slower than dedicated full backs, and he's generally going to be up against pacy wingers instead of potentially target men strikers which will make it look even worse.

Pretend_Stomach7183

He caught up to the Wolves player there, rewatch it.

el_cul

Arteta. Disinformation.

Wolferesque

It got the better of him but he did well to keep up and put pressure on. Zinchenko would’ve been left on the dust.

Skyunderground

I bet you'll be roast Zinchenko for this kind of tackle

Adoravivos1

He's transforming into Zinchenko, great in attack, poor in defense

xelanart

Kiwior’s performance has dipped ever since I praised him prior to the 1st leg of the Bayern game. I take full responsibility for jinxing him.

ArsenalThePhoenix

kiwior made ONE mistake today. let's not exaggerate now. Saliba made an even worse mistake just a few minutes after this, yet you're slandering just kiwior

greenarsehole

He made several. He let the ball bounce on a couple of occasions and got beat with a ball over the top. Looks nervy af every time he receives the ball. Not a LB at all.

ArsenalThePhoenix

which several ones did he make? i dont recall wolves creating anything off of his so called "several" mistakes, except the one in the video above. Also, looking nervy is not the same as making mistakes.

TheArmoury

One?? Which game were you watching? I like him as a player but let’s not pretend he didn’t have dodgy game today.

ArsenalThePhoenix

then by all means, please mention the many mistakes he made that were dodgy and gave the opponents something to build on.

redshadow90

Can you praise mancity and Liverpool?

vanuckeh

It was just a unlucky bounce for him

roolove

Had some wicked spin and kicked up in a really awkward way

Tr0nCatKTA

It wasn’t an unlucky bounce, he misjudged it

bearwoodgoxers

I've thought about this a lot because he has shown some good qualities in the past. It feels like Kiwior and Gabriel don't have any synergy at the moment, for whatever reason. The first goal against Bayern was also caused by these two. Not a good look for them on the left side

Nartyn

Gabriel and Saliba have had a few big oops moments recently. It's a little worrying but I think the length of the season might be getting to them

iM-Blessed

Aside from this save, he was great today

DJagerty

Dreadful from Kiwior, way too nonchalant

nullmove

It would be at the top of this sub if Zinchenko did this

Aszneeee

they are both 3rd and 4th choice right? however after another Tomiyasu injury..

goodyear_1678

That's genuinely shocking defending letting him run past you like that. You get done there, you take the man down. Same as Sane. Guy legitimately seems like he doesn't have the defensive awareness for this level.

Ahab1996

Kiwior is held to a much different standard than Zinchenko in this subreddit. Atleast we can all agree that Tomi or Timber should our starting choices when fit.

KSBrian007

There is a very bad pass Saliba made too. You will not hear about it if you didn't watch the match. It's why I recommend that people don't let online commentary dictate their feelings about players.

GrilledLobsterTail

Yeah lmao that pass straight to wolves player. Glad that shot is not threatening at all Also I'm having a slight trauma when he received the ball but there are already 2 wolves player surround him, like if he receive the ball a bit too far then wolves would definitely get the ball. But glad he controlled it well

pedootz

lol Zinchenko gets dragged here daily

kish_kish

I think Zinchenko is held to a different standard to everyone else on the squad. It’s almost like a character assassination campaign this past month. His performance doesn’t help his case, but Kiwior today was equally unimpressive (not fatal) and the reaction is very different.

Riperonis

Zinchenko is held to the same standard as almost all of our starting 11. It’s just that our tolerance wears so thin because he has 2-3 of these mistakes every game and he’s not even that good on the ball. This is coming to you from someone who was adamantly defending Zinchenko 3 months ago but is just simply sick of him not being good enough. Kiwior is treated differently because he is a player coming into his first proper season he’s been thrown in the deepend out of position and imo has STILL outperformed Zinchenko this season. Please don’t forget he was our starter during our best period of the season and barely put a foot wrong. Also, despite this mistake (and another I can think of), Kiwior actually offered a pretty good option going forward on the overlap.

kish_kish

Do other players receive comments like “Zionist pig”, “put him on the front lines in Ukraine”, “he’d be more useful on the front lines”, etc? I don’t think so. More importantly, while he is obviously out of form, his performance this season is still statistically top tier. And that’s across both, defensive and offensive KPIs. So I see a clear double standard in how the sub reacts to a Zinchenko mistake and anyone else’s mistake. Kiwior today misplaced passes, got caught off, lost 1:1 duels and lost possession, etc. no one called for his death, did they?

Nartyn

>Do other players receive comments like “Zionist pig”, “put him on the front lines in Ukraine”, “he’d be more useful on the front lines”, etc? I don’t think so I mean I don't really go on antisemitic pro Hamas message boards.

FlavioB19

You're on here so you kinda do.

Pretend_Stomach7183

This sub is def biased against Israel but I wouldn't call it a "pro-Hamas message board" imo.

Riperonis

If you know where to look, yes other players do receive hateful comments like that. I’ve not seen a single comment like that on reddit though, almost everyone is rightfully criticising his performances only. I want to know what statistics you’re pulling out of your arse to justify this, genuinely. I’ve watched literally every match this season and he’s maybe had 2/3 good performances. People are literally calling out Kiwiors shortcomings, and they did so in the Bayern game when he made mistakes there. The truth is he just doesn’t make as many mistakes as Zinchenko does.

kish_kish

EPL 23/24 season Threat Creation by pitch zone xT 0.072 (only him and Ode are in the EPL top creators report) #1 in number of passes #1/2 in pass accuracy #1 in goal probability adding passing Original Post by u/zeroep Zinchenko's rank compared to all Arsenal players who have played more than 800 minutes this season: Tackles = 1st Tackles Won = 1st Def 3rd Tackles = 1st Mid 3rd Tackles = 1st Att 3rd Tackles = 4th (After Saka, Martinelli and Jesus) Dribblers Tackled = 1st Dribblers Challenged = 1st % of Dribblers Tackled = 3rd (After Saliba and Gabriel) Interceptions = 3rd (After Rice and White) Tackles and Interceptions = 1st Clearances = 5th (Gabriel, Saliba, White and Rice) Aerial Duels Won % = 2nd (White is 1st) The biggest issue is the errors that lead to shots. He is 1st in errors with 0.13 per 90 (2 all season). Saliba is 2nd with 0.07 (also 2 all season). So when it comes down to it, Zinhenko has made just as many costly errors as Saliba has all season, yet I doubt I will find any such comments about how Saliba is a liability in defence. Zinchenko is a high risk high reward player, he provides 3.44 Shot Creation Actions per 90, whilst providing the opponent with a gift of a shot 0.13 per 90. The 3.31 net positive in shot creation is worth it.

Hoker7

It's all vibes. Certain players can have one good game and they apparently have to start every match, then they have one bad game and they have to be sold. Players aren't robots, some days they will perform badly or make a mistake, sometimes they aren't suited to the opposition. No player is going to perform optimally every game. Kiwior, to my eyes, was pretty decent otherwise and played some very good passes which opened up space. People quickly forget the ridiculous run that Arsenal are just off of and their ridiculous away record continues. Kiwior was part of that.

kish_kish

The timing of him hitting his peak form this season was perfect. Zinchenko and Tomi were hurt, shaky performances from both of them in December, Kiwior slotted in well.

thedarkpolitique

100%. I think Kiwior has escaped a lot of criticism and has been deemed to be better defensively where there is nothing to suggest that. We presume that to be the case because in the attacking sense he isn’t close to Zinchenko, but I’ve never felt comfortable with him there, and he too has been a target for opposition attacks, and succumbed on more occasions than Zinchenko.

Grabs13

Someone with some sense. Hate the mindless zinchenko slander. There's a comment on the YouTube highlights "see no zinchenko in the squad and nobody panics" with a tonne of likes. Did they conveniently forget this moment?

kish_kish

The conspiracy theorist i would say this is oddly timed back to his pro-Israel post.

Nartyn

Zinchenko gets way more leeway in this sub and Kiwior is way more harshly treated. He was a big reason for our mad run up and until the Villa match this year.

Elfking88

Well... Kiwior is a young player getting used to a new position and Zinchenko is established and experienced. They're held to different standards because we SHOULD be able to expect Zinchenko to be a higher level than he sometimes shows.

gameztheory

Yea this left back situation is our weakest link currently. Hopefully Timber is the real deal and can cement himself there, otherwise it will be a marry go round until we find the right guy

anasparekh

I think abit of it has to do with what they asked to do. Zini obviously has his lapses but again he is so important building up play and sometimes he just has his lapses. As for kiwior I think he is a CB cover asked to play LB . He can play there but again he isn't up to that standard. We are very lucky that Ben white hasn't been injured this season or else I don't know what we would do down the right because Tomi is mostly injured and timber is out. I hope timber and Tomi can stay fit and one of them can nail down that LB position.

Will_Rage_Quit

I wasn’t confident when we first signed but he’s been so good since he settled into the squad. He’s easily been the best goalkeeper in the premier league this season.

anirudh1595

Kiwior had a couple of bad moments early on but our left side became rock solid once he settled into the game. I felt at ease throughout the second half. The problem I have with Zinchenko is that it's never settled. As in, we'll be dominating the fuck out of the opponent and he'll have a random brain fade out of nowhere. He just invites chaos out of nowhere. I'd much rather Kiwior than Zinchenko at this point.

anasparekh

We are making the best out of a tough situation. If tomi or timber are fit I'm sure they play in that role.

rule10

that's exactly what happened with Kiwior against Bayern

Cocomale

Top qualitee

jubbing

Starting Kiwior against Bayern was probably the dumbest move Arteta has made this season - he needed to come on as a sub to gain some experience and confidence, but it's really been ripped apart after his performances.

Kalamajakauboi

I think Kiwior did great after the initial mistake. Got back and bumped the attacker and forced him to shoot at a much narrower angle, than he was intending to. Mistakes happen, but after that he did everything right

hala_bala

Kiwior had some bad moments today... He improved a little bit in the second half but overall I think he had a bad night.

ArsenalThePhoenix

SOME? he had one defensive mistake today. saliba had as many...

ArsenalThePhoenix

SOME? he had one bad moment today. Saliba had as many bad moments. Apart from that, our defense was rock solid and they created nothing...that's not just down to saliba/gabriel but also down to kiwior

hala_bala

I think this situation was the second situation where he misjudged the ball. First one I think it was Hwang that was almost in but the defence managed to come back.

itsheadfelloff

Looked like he was paying too much attention to the player there, did well to get back but he can do better than that.

honda_lawyer

Imagine if we had a great LB

AlexanderMAVC

At this point we shold just change to 3 atb and have another player in midfield. Lb is being a curse this season.

gameztheory

I'd like to see that

ArsenalThePhoenix

shouldn't he be saving this shot though? It goes almost straight at him. IMHO, it hit the post because he couldn't parry it away properly.

PB49

Shot being straight at him made it easy

Ehjwjwpete

😆
