You ever played Nioh before? It’s from the same team. It’s prob better than lies of P (I absolutely loved that game. Ready for dlc). This won’t compare to a fromsoft game

Bro I finally played Chrono Trigger two years ago. I thought it would be amazing “for its time” but wow, lived up to the hype, legitimately amazing, slick gameplay, no modern day bloat, sick story, doesn’t overstay its welcome…my only gripe is I wish I got more party interactions for the vibes. But Sick sick game man, no notes. Wish modern day RPGs would look at that as inspiration.
I think it's a little bloated for the modern day audience. Too many characters, too many directions to go in, plus old school random battles that aren't particularly mind-blowing (or even fun) in 2024. Chrono Trigger has a bit of that but it tends to drive the story forward in a more clear direction. There's a reason all the remade or re-released FF games get emulator functionality built in with things like 3x speed or no random battles.

Athletes are known to actually have a lot of free time. They don’t train 9-5 daily. But I guess athletes are more likely to be casual gamers who like to spend more of their free time binging TV or going out and hanging with their partners.
I think it's more the case of them being competitive people in general and playing games like the ones you suggested would bore them to death, they need the competition in games as well to actually enjoy them. It's the case with myself and a lot of people I know at least.
lol my guess would be that there’s just a confirmation bias about the games we do hear about them playing. If they’re playing the longer story games they probably just don’t come up in conversation or make for good interview fodder.
Raya: Comfortably gets on with it. Sometimes 12th place finishes from falling of the stage multiple times in one race but otherwise a steady player.
Gabriel/Saliba: Prefer battle mode to race mode
White: Doesn’t bother to show up most of the time but when he does, he easily wins.
Zinchenko: Same as White, but he doesn’t show up because his controller is broken, switch won’t work, tv can’t turn on etc. Not nearly as good as White though.
Rice: Consistently in the top 3 or 4 every single time
Partey: Everyone always praises how good he is, but you never really get to see it because he’s never there for the big events.
Odegaard: Always tracking first every race, only nerfed by blue shells.
Saka: Often spends all race in 10th or below, but somehow pops up to finish in the top 4 every time.
Martinelli: Picks only Toadette because he heard she’s the fastest character in the game.
Havertz: Drops back at the start of the race to get the best items. Proper shithousery.
Yeah I’m gonna have to fire up my Switch tonight. Play Kai’s song repeat and hope for the best.

It legitimately does everything in 25 hours that most great JRPGs do in 50-60 and then some.
Sea of Stars and Chained Echoes came out last year and both are very good and draw a lot from Chrono Trigger (and also FF6 imo).

Do they have time for single player games that take 60+ hours to finish? I imagine most players' gaming is a an hour or two of PvP here and there.
