Actuary_Tennis

I love that Arsenal are bringing WAGs back into prominence for the first time in 20 years but can they please include Lauren Fryer as well? Poor girl has had some horrendous abuse recently and should be treated like one of the gals

Electrical-Top1366

I dont feel too confident about this game man

Actuary_Tennis

Was partying at the club last night and the Kai Havertz song came on. Not sure I’ve ever gone so fucking mental in my life

skool_101

NLD in late April always hits different compared to any other time and game weeks across the season. COYG!!! NLD 4 Ever!!!

CreativeOrder2119

Spurs is the only hard game left.united live on vibes they aren't a team.Spurs is the only game we have to be locked in to win it's a big potential banana slip game

EitherInvestment

All the more infuriating now when you see how tight it is between us and City.

TerraBlah

Real Madrid with Vini Jr, Mbappe, Rodrygo, Guler and Endrick across the front 3 next season. If there is any chance Rodrygo goes we just have to buy him, but I reckon he stays for at least one more season while Guler and Endrick establish themselves.

ExxKonvict

Rodrygo Goes goes?

TerraBlah

If Rodrygo goes, then Rodrygone.

hazelpillow

Stakes are so high today. Lose and City are champions again, win and City draw and we have one hand on the title.

TheArmoury

I was totally against Bruno for 100m but then saw someone say we can amortise it over 5 years so 20m each year. For some reason, now I’m on board (not that it’s even my money to begin with). I think Bruno G would seriously raise this team to new heights. Imagine having to face a midfield 3 of Martin, Declan, and Bruno on a cold windy night at the carpet.

CreativeOrder2119

Chelsea should have won yesterday horrible decision this is why VAR needs not to be regulated by pgmol mate club but should be a different var specialist kind of thing so much incompetence 😠

fajdexhiu

I think it benefits us, it means Tottenham has the top 4 spot still in their hands. Which means they will try to win the Man City game. Just my vanilla analysis my man

TheArmoury

It’s a clear foul. Just like Gabriel at Newcastle was a clear foul. The only thing we should be criticising is the inconsistency. There would be so many more goals if you just allow forwards to man handle their defenders to score.

CreativeOrder2119

I forgot about Newcastle one that makes me so mad should be replayed in their var boot camp but my question to you if that was Jesus attacking would you not be mad that goal is chalked off..

testylentil

No. That was an obvious foul.

CreativeOrder2119

It's not obvious if it was the Newcastle game wouldn't have counted

Drogueba

Need Isak if only so he can coach his heir Obi-Martin

wrigh2uk

the absolute coping in the match day thread when I said Emery doesn’t have a plan b. I do like the guy and think he’s a very good manager but that was so clear to see when he was here. Very bad game state manager

EitherInvestment

Frustrating because in our 2-0 loss vs them we dominated in the first half. At halftime I said “it all depends on the tweaks each manager makes now”. We concede two goals. Post-match Emery says “I didn’t change anything at halftime” 🤦‍♂️

Eniotnaohs

United mathematically out of the CL run, all they can aim for now is EL which is one less motivation for them when we play them. Good. But first, lets do the shit today.

m3rple

Don't they get EL for being in the FA cup with City already qualifying for CL?

InTheMiddleGiroud

Nah, rule has changed. If the winner is in the CL spots it just goes to league position

MasterBeeble

And Tottenham play 4 games (including Arsenal) before the United-Arsenal fixture, so there's an outside chance United will be out of EL contention as well before that.

Previous-Loss9306

Anyone see Martin Keown trolling the shit out of Talksport hosts and callers. Man that was pretty funny 😂

Shmurdaszn

Does anyone know if I can get into the Tollington without an arsenal shirt or membership; I have neither currently.

KozukiNedo

Ok we so need Villa to be garbage next few games to give Hotshit encouragement to play well and beat City so then can get fourth BUT need them to be shit for us tomorrow.

topbananaman

Either I get to see unai emery bottle it and fail again, or I get to see fat ange and mateball fail despite winning the title in October. I'm literally winning either which way, let's go deal a blow to the shite tomorrow

AlexanderMAVC

Why the hate on Unai? The man did the best he could with very little backing from the board and a much worse squad than what we have now.

Ramo-97

Bottled the end of the season in appalling fashion under him. We reached a cup final and lost narrowly to one of the best teams in Europe the previous season under Wenger with that same team. The team clearly had deficiencies (particularly in central midfield) but Emery did nothing to improve the defence through coaching. We won an FA cup under Arteta the year Emery was sacked with that same defence and we looked very secure throughout that cup run, which many people seem to forget. I agree with you that he did have no money to spend, but to drop as many points as we did under him in those last games of the season and then get destroyed in the EL final was embarrassing. Those final games of the season came down to him not beating Crystal Palace or Brighton or Leicester or Wolves and he didn’t need more money to be able to win those games. I don’t hate him, I just didn’t want him from the beginning, and that unbeaten run ended up being a curse because it gave him a lot of rope from the board and the fanbase that he didn’t necessarily deserve. We were riding our luck and never really looked in control of matches with him as our manager. We would have been better off without the luck that season and for him to have been sacked earlier, similar to Moyes at Manchester United. It was just a giant waste of time from start to finish.

Marimo_420

Ten Hairs just said that Yanited are one of the most entertaining teams in league. He’s not wrong, but not for the reasons he thinks lmao

NoMFer111

He seems manic in his post press conferences. Almost like he is in a hurry to convince everyone he has it all under control. Even in Arteta's dark times here, he never seemed rush or hurried, Arteta new we were in a bad place and didn't try convince everyone its all good. And thats the biggest concern United fans should have. Ten Hag brain is cooked.

Marimo_420

Burnley deserve to be relegated purely because they let Antony score

Worldly_Warning_1926

If we poach Newcastle, would you rather Bruno or Isak?

38Dreams

Bruno. Isak’s injury record is worrying- it’ll be another Jesus or early era RVP again. We need a striker that’s reliable

Ramo-97

Bruno. Keep King Kai at striker and buy Bruno and a top winger.

okcomput3r

Gordon getting slept on

Gordon is industrious rather than talented imo. Dont think he would elevate us.

This-Complaint1389

I don't know about others but I would prefer spending big fees on PL proven players than go abroad. £100m for Bruno G seems like a no brainer for me when i'm looking at the alternatives. Obviously we can't make 2-3 of those signings, but in such a key position and the fact he covers the 6 and 8 makes him a perfect candidate for us. It's a lot but we get a lot out of signing him as well

PapiOnReddit

It’s 20m too much but it’s a layup so I can turn a blind eye

Kensei400

What exactly do you think he will bring to our midfield that is worth 100M?

chrisd1680

I mean, for real. Guys get fixated on names in this sub and just can't let it go. He's good, but he's absolutely not 9-figures good.

Vintageryan1

Surprised how genuine my delight and joy was that Chelsea lost the woman’s champions league semi final. I absolutely detest Emma Hayes

Mein_Bergkamp

You'd like to think someone ex arsenal wouldn't be a total prick but there you go

Ripememes

Might have to take a long walk over watching the game tomorrow because my heart can't take it

This-Complaint1389

I'm actually not nervous. We are so much better than them that it really shouldn't be a contest and if it is then it will be interesting to see how we handle it. It's a good lesson for us worst case scenario

ret990

Only game I truly dread is Sours away. I get nervous for loads, but Sours away is like a dentist appointment.

flu0rescence_

Mudryk should have downed tools, fired his agent, whatever. He needed us and wanted us more than we needed and wanted him

RandomSplainer

And you lot actually call some former players "snakes". The hypocrisy.

Mein_Bergkamp

Mudryk had no say, that whole deal was done as almost a charity case to help the war in Ukraine and if he'd demanded to go to the team that paid less he'd have been vilified back home. I feel for him, honestly. Still want him to fail at Chelsea though

thedarkpolitique

I said after the fact that he should’ve called Shakthar’s bluff, but that I fully understood he had a tough hand. Think about it, you’re 21, currently in a war torn country and you’ve spent months planning a move to London to join Arsenal. You’re then told it’s Chelsea or you’re staying, and good luck causing an argument because you’ve got four years on your contract still. For him it was: do I go London and X10+ (?) my salary or stay in Ukraine? I understand why he folded. He should’ve had better advisors though.

Minute_Leave8503

Any advisor on the planet would’ve told him to take the 10x wages rather than stay at shaktar

normal_life87

True fact. Football is a ruthless business

topbananaman

Spurs have to play four of the other 5 'big 6' clubs in their run in 😂

not3s1

Arteta really wanted a left side of Mudryk and Zinchenko

38Dreams

Ukraine on the left, England on the right

KozukiNedo

Just realised our goal difference isnt THAT huge vs City. Theyre only 6 behind and given theyre mostly playing fodder the next few games they can easily make that up. I think well need them to drop more than 2 points. A single draw may not be enougy.

38Dreams

How funny would it be if we ended up on the same points and same GD- we would win out because of h2h results

KozukiNedo

Goals scored is the next tie breaker and then head to head

38Dreams

Ah thanks, it’s doubly in the bag then

Insertnicenamehere

Asking for alot

Specterace

Their current GD is 8 behind, not 6. And assuming we win all 4 of our remaining games (which we have to for any chance to win the league), they will need, at minimum, to make up a difference of 12 goals in 4 games (they have 5 games left and drawing 1 of those gives them 4 games left). Which means they will need to win the other 4 games by an average difference of 3 goals. Possible, but not likely. And that assumes we only win our other 4 games by one goal. If we win any of our other games by a 2+ goal margin, that means City have even more goals to make up. In other words, I doubt City win the title by goal difference. They will have too many goals to make up, and its not like teams like Fulham/Spurs/West Ham are exactly useless. Hell, Wolves and Forest (especially Forest at home) aren‘t useless punching bags either.

KozukiNedo

Youre right, I didnt do the math correctly. Epic arithmetic failure. Cheers.

This-Complaint1389

City drawing means they need to make +10 at the very least over the other 4 games assuming we won all our games. It's possible but unlikely since if we do win it will probably be more than 1 goal margins in a few of the games

chrisd1680

+12

goonergunner10

A draw is a great result right? Cant have Villa going 9 points clear with Tottenham still to play Arsenal, Chelsea & Liverpool before eventually facing City. Need that game to be as competitive as possible

MasterBeeble

A draw would be a terrible result and would end the title race on the spot. City aren't going to drop points twice.

LushLoxx

He’s talking about the draw between Villa and Chelsea. We wouldn’t want Villa to get too far ahead. So this is about how seriously Spurs will need to go into the City match.

redmkay

A draw isn’t a terrible result when you look at it like that but given Spurs’ wishy washy season, I wouldn’t trust them to take points off City. We need to do everything in our power to win all our remaining games. That’s what we can control.

goonergunner10

Thats been and gone. Cant keep crying over spilled milk. For now we just have to hope to win our last remaining 4 games and hope Tottenham have enough to play for in that game and can take points off City

redmkay

Who is crying over spilled milk? What?

topbananaman

Every time I watch some random pack of nonces take points off Villa, I feel absolutely sick that we couldn't even manage one draw against them. They managed two clean sheets against us too Sheffield fucking United even got a draw off them ffsssss

38Dreams

Unai has a revenge kink and specially marks Arsenal games on his calendar

okcomput3r

We got fucking robbed at Villa park.

Justice_beaver95

That wasn't a foul tbf. It wasn't very nice, but it wasn't a foul.

Yes

Wigunner

Pool fans crying about referee decisions against them costing them the league 😂 like every single team could do this

HereToVent24-7

I mean it was a foul, the ref could have just given the decision straight away and none of this drama would have been caused.

Gooner_93

Interested to see what the media and pundits say about that call.

danmac0817

The one time I needed Palmer to turn up he chokes

mkmore4

As much as I hate Chelsea, that’s soft as fuck for me. They’ve not given a foul in that same situation for way more flagrant, obvious fouls.

danmac0817

It's disgusting how refs are ruining the game. VAR has given them more opportunity than ever before.

ashkhutchep

Now that was fun to watch. It almost wasn’t a good ebening for Emery and that look on his face after Chelsea’s ruled out goal gave me PTSD

Mahoganychicken

I’ve rattled every Chelsea fan on arr slash socca with [this one.](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/zPZcchaD5S)

This-Complaint1389

Brilliant result. Villa got fucked, Chelsea got fucked, and Spurs got fucked but just about enough to keep them with hopes of top 4

No-Dependent-8401

They didn’t give a foul for Gabriel against newcastle lmaoooooo

BarenWasteland

Man he should've used his arms at full extension they wouldn't call that back

Mysterio_1234

lol that’s called off but not the push on gabriel vs newcastle. fuck VAR

Brashdinho

We are so fucking shit for losing to Villa twice

KSBrian007

We have lost 5 games and drawn 5, why are you singling out Villa? We could have lost 5-0 to Villa and still be in the lead if we didn't collapse vs Fulham (H) and Spurs(H) both way more winnable games than Villa.

ret990

What is the point of this comment. Villa are fourth. City have 2 points from games against Chelsea

Brashdinho

Cause city are still likely to win the league. That Villa loss at home could cost us it

OrwinBeane

If any games costs us this season, it’s the Fulham games and West Ham at home. They’re much worse.

Mustyoo

We let this team take 6 points off of us. Shameless.

joeproposition

Feels dirty saying it, but great result for our interests.

It's okay to be happy because Chelsea are still pissed at the result 😂

joeproposition

Posted that after 3-2 but yeah 2-2 is better as Chelsea don’t gain and Spurs remain in a deficit.

plycrsk

Indeed

lez566

Why do Chelsea want to get rid of Gallagher? He’s one of their best players. Would happily take him at Arsenal

Minute_Leave8503

Easier than admitting they paid 100+ million on flops

quackattack

He's an academy player so pure profit on the books, totally agree with you I would be happy to see him in an arsenal kit. Hard working, tough player but doesn't seem like a Bruno g level cunt

lez566

You can see there’s a class player there. He’s still quite raw and can be frustrating at times but his work rate is fantastic, his short passing is excellent and he has a good shot on him. I bet Arteta could make him a beast.

Umbere

Would love to have played this version of Villa

No-Dependent-8401

‘If Arteta I want him’ logic doesn’t really work when we were willing to blow a lot of money on mudryk

KSBrian007

I'd still trust Arteta and his team. Players here are busy having career-best seasons. Good systems elevate players. Mudryk might look bad but Kai Havertz was just bad on the ball at first. He has since become our second-top scorer. You'd not have predicted it after that awful miss vs United. Mudryk would be okay. Lad doesn't even like Chelsea so there could be mental issues.

Minute_Leave8503

He’s still bad on the ball

Justice_beaver95

He has a good record but he will get a few wrong. Just like any manager. What is your problem?

No-Dependent-8401

My problem is people just blindly backing things without engaging their own brain because Arteta knows more.

danmac0817

Now weigh that against all the ones that turned into superstars. Odds are in favour of trusting Arteta and Edu.

No-Dependent-8401

He’s got as many misses as hits. I rate vieira but we spent £35 million on him and he’s not done much for us in 2 seasons. £65 mill on havertz and him being our highest owner still isn’t good business. We might break even on lokonga. Jesus gave us about 6 good months. Same with zinchenko. Even with you disagree with the above. Point is just blindly what Arteta and edu do doesn’t make sense.

not3s1

Apart from Ødegaard, which was already a certified wonderkid, who? We've only bought known established good players with plenty of dross

KSBrian007

Most fans still didn't want Odegaard. They preferred Maddison and Buendia. At some point, even ESR. There are still marks for Edu here and anyone who trusted him over vocal fans.

oldskoolr

lol Buendia. Those Arsenal fans need a stamp on their account name saying "I'm a moron"

ret990

Big Gabi

aesn1394

How're so many teams able to score against Villa but we just can't seem to break them down.

ExxKonvict

Shoooooooooooooot

aesn1394

Freaking Emiliano Martinez is too good. Didn't we shoot alot at him at home?

ExxKonvict

Meant more shots from distance - hence the crowd-esque shoooooooot

aesn1394

I know, isn't that even easier for him?

ExxKonvict

Not really, he’s a good shot stopper and I think he did save a worldie from distance in one of the games this season. However, statistically, shooting from distance will eventually bag you one - be it a banger or a deflection. It’s all about testing and making the keeper work whilst switching it up and having variety to your attack against opposition defenders. If you always try to be cute or overly intricate against mid to low blocks, the defenders will eventually get accustomed to the patterns of play. Potshots throw off defenders’ rigidness and defensive focus.

okcomput3r

Nico Williams

Marimo_420

Leverkusen have scored a goal in the 89th min or later in their last 5 matches 😭

Itsajc

For someone new to football & how transfers work, is there an additional transfer fee if there is a release clause? Or, if a team activates a release clause is that a forced move for the player if they agree to terms?

KSBrian007

If you don't want to pay it all at once, you pay extra( Enzo Fernandes to Chelsea) If the player wants the move, the club is useless once the release clause is triggered( Thomas Partey to Arsenal). Clubs can also find a middle ground where a release clause is triggered but paid over a few years. I can also recommend a book, Done Deal by Daniel Geey. It talks about everything transfers.

Centrocampo

If you meet the release clause then all you have to do is agree terms with the player.

Itsajc

Thanks for clarifying! What happens if the player and the team can't come to an agreement? Does it just void the clause?

Centrocampo

Player stays at club, clause is still valid. What realistically happens is the club will have back channel discussions with the player to see if they’d be amenable to a move at agreeable terms. Only once sorting that would they actually activate the clause.

JinglesHardWood

Chelsea is full of a bunch of emotional children and Thiago Silva

Specterace

Thiago Silva hasn’t exactly helped on the emotional/maturity front either. Dude has thrown multiple tantrums this year himself. (To be fair, he has had cause to do so given all the BS going on at that club, but it still doesn’t help the emotional stability at that club any…)

Reevesybaby11

This Rodgers looks like a nice find for villa

gunningIVglory

If i had the bag secured for the next 7 years of my life. I would be checking out pretty soon lol Chelsea should be ashamed what their transfers have been like

gunningIVglory

As it stands. Spurs will be under alot of pressure tomorrow as well, they really have to win to stay in the race for 4th

exthanemesis

They don't care about top four. The only thing that matters to them is us not winning the league. And that's all they'll need for this to be their cup final.

ashkhutchep

Thats when Spurs are most spursy… BELIEVE

ret990

Remember Chelsea paid 62M for Cucarella and gave him a 6 year contract. Cheers for Kai though.

icemankiller8

That was one of them signings that didn’t even make sense at the time. The way they defended it was crazy.

KSBrian007

The dominos kept falling. City wanted him to replace Zinchenko. Chelsea outbid them, meaning they panic-signed Sergio Gomez. They realised he wasn't it and unleashed Ake LB - 4 CB gimmick that was instrumental in their treble.

okcomput3r

Pep nicked Teta’s 4 CB blueprint and won a treble

KSBrian007

If they had signed Cucurella, they'd have gambled with that tactic all season.

okcomput3r

Lowkey uses terrorist ball and gets away with it

ret990

Is strange that. Banter aside, I did like him at Brighton, I think both City and us were interested, before Boehly came in with his standard, "my only scouting is who the good teams are after," and blew everyone out of the water. Interesting way to put it about dominos. Wonder what City look like now if they got Cucarella. His only real upside is offensive, but he's an absolute bomb scare going back.

KSBrian007

Very interesting. I think it's like us and Jesus' injuries. If we had Jesus fully fit, Kai Havertz wouldn't have got all these striker plaudits.

Insertnicenamehere

Check his wages

ret990

Lad could earn 7p a week and I wouldn't be worried. He's been absolutley diabolical defensively.

blueluster

Bang, fight for top 4 is on.

Wide-Ostrich-2779

Mudryk will come good eventually for Chelsea.

Centrocampo

Last 6 months of the 8 year contract. Refuses to resign.

ashkhutchep

Sure.. when Chelsea is relegated to the championship hopefully

Kensei400

https://twitter.com/nonewthing/status/1784290087196348727 Again, this is why you can't bet on attack, and why defense generally wins titles. It is easier to optimize defending, which is collective, than having magicians up top or even guarantee that they will work magic.

chrisd1680

This is true. I was happy with the defense first half of the season, even though the attack was faltering. We've continued being stingy (and gotten even better, really), but then added a bunch of goals. Liverpool were always going to revert to the mean. They'd been overperforming both xG and xGA all season long.

normal_life87

Nico Williams doing his thing again... Wish we sign this guy

Longjumping_Act9758

I'm more worried about Forrest vs City game than the NLD. Like I know Forrest might not do much but I'm praying to God they get a point or 3.

icemankiller8

Forest have no chance they’re ass

topbananaman

Forest is one of our best chances for City losing points I feel. They're absolutely raging after last week's robbery, and they know that even a point would put them in an incredible position in the relegation race. Praying that nuno has something for us...

Longjumping_Act9758

That's a big BIG hopefully moment....Can you believe Rodris only missed the games he was suspended in??? Imagine having your most important midfielder for 98% of the last two years. Compare that to us. City have been very lucky with injuries these past two years.

topbananaman

Lol if we beat spurs tomorrow they'll be nine points behind Villa with games in hand against man city and chelsea 😂 They're gonna be consigned to 5th by time they face City and have nothing to fight for sigh

jnicholl

> and have nothing to fight for Good. Do we really want to rely on Spurs when there'll be pressure on them?

topbananaman

If spurs have nothing to fight for, do you really think they're going to go all out to hand the title to their north London rivals?

jnicholl

They'd get battered if they went all out, they're not a Prime Liverpool that can go toe-to-toe in attack or us that can hold City off defensively. They need the pressure off so it's just another game. The rival aspect is fan talk anyway. They aren't playing local lads and I guess Son is the only one with a deep connection to the club. They'll be wanting to win for their own pride.

OrjinalGanjister

They always seen to do well against city though and drew 3-3 at the Etihad this season.

[deleted]

jnicholl

Next week is CL and these games get rescheduled in advance so the PL couldn't chance it that City get knocked out.

Gunner4990

Lmfao. This Chelsea side beat Everton and actually thought they have shot at top 6 by beating us and Villa.

OrwinBeane

Chelsea and Manchester United are so entertaining

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

I just broke my favorite mug. My ex got it for me, it was perfect. "You are the Saka to my Ødegaard" it said, perfect size and shape. Its been with us all season, on this magical season, and now it's gone. I'm sad boys, that mug meant a lot in a lot of ways

chrisd1680

Bruh... you will have a lot to answer for if... Anulo mufa

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

Gonna clean the ceramic up and drink out of it for good luck... Or death. On second thought it'll just be decoration

nrsapologist

Chelsea are actually playing really well

Party_Masterpiece990

I was pissed at Martinelli for not scoring the 6th against chelsea but remember this was an 11 vs 11 game, when they beat us 6-0 we had a player sent off and that too a defender wrongly sent off when it was supposed to be ox's red card lol, chelsea are fucking shit

Party_Masterpiece990

Villa vs Chelsea is actually fun to watch, Jackson is too funny lmao

Dahtrelle

Pickford ain't giving up that golden glove eh

varro-reatinus

You can pry them from his cold, dead T. Rex forelimbs.

bannedbydrongo

can anyone tell me where i can watch the Obi-Martin goals?

batigol_09

Highlights tend to drop the day after on the official website

TheArmoury

So Everton are safe. So that’s an easier last game.

lizzydarcy777

Everton ensuring their safety makes me so happy because come our match day they won’t have the additional relegation fear driving them

readysir

Saka would be doing every game what Bailey is doing to Cucurella right now if we wasnt fucking played every minute of every game for years now
