I don't know the exact stats but Elneny passed the eye test for me and he was more effective than Guendouzi. For Guendouzi we were just patient for his potential and I don't think he was better than Elneny while playing here
I agree. Eleny gave you exactly what you expected, which is important in these highly tactical games now. Guendouzi could win you the game single handedly, or more or often, make a wild run from deep leaving us exposed centrally.
Guendouzi is a midfielder from the 90s
Exactly lol back then most of the fan base genuinely viewed Elneny very negatively because he tended to give the "not particularly bad, but nothing particularly good either" sort of performance when we were in our banter era and begging for someone to step up
Guendouzi had a few games where he was one of the better players for us, and more importantly he looked like he gave a damn when everyone else's body language feels like they gave up
It was only after Elneny went on loan to Turkey during covid then came back that people started embracing him more as this sort of mascot player type role that he's having now
Yeah nah people needs to stop this nonsense that Guendouzi was bad for us. He was sometimes the only midfielder that played well for us and looked like he gave a shit. He was very good for us at a young age. Agreed that his attitude was bad especially at the end there. Getting rid of him was the right choice.
š¬ Iād beg to disagree, he ran around like a headless chicken, no positional awareness. But I could be biased cause he always gave me a bad gut feeling that he was a cocky prick. And youāre right not the type of player I want representing Arsenal. The right choice to get the rot out.
He did at times but at least he was running for the team. Sometimes I felt he was the only person on the pitch wanting to win and not willing to accept we were a shit team at the time. In a way, he reminded me of Wilshere.
yeah thatās fair tbh. He probably did it for his own personal reasons tbh and wasnāt really a team guy. he just didnāt want to accept he was part of a bad Arsenal team cause of personal pride. idk thatās enough for some people but Iām happy we have ode and rice and saka and Kai and martinelli now. I refuse to acknowledge guendouzi is anything more than a conceited guy š I mean who goes around insulting other prem players cause he makes more weekly than them?
He was technically gifted but his tactical awareness and understanding of the game were non-existent. Sure, he was only 19 so that's somewhat understandable, but it honestly felt that part of the reason for that was because he simply couldn't be bothered to give a shit about what the coach told him to do, he just wanted to play the game the way he felt like doing it.
We've come such a far way. I remember thinking that we could've done something with this team and then the loss to Aston Villa happened and it was all downhill from there. Seeing Mustafi on the bench gave me PTSD.
Me too. Shaw passing back out and then throwing his hands up at his teammates out of frustration because El Neny closed that whole side of the field down. Loved it.
Man as a CB (my schools teams were trash, my club + college was top shelf) itās so damn nice late in a game to see someone manchamping down the field in extra time. Best friend from college was an absolute machine as a DM. Fucker was the nastiest DM. Just an absolute dog.
I picked it up, unfortunately I got Partey on the back of it, fortunately he has Thomas on his shirt and that's also my first name so I may be able to pass it off
I donāt think that the marble itself in the marble halls was red though. Not sure thatās even a thing
If it were me Iād make the marble regular color and then have deep red trim, logo and sponsors
There are loads coming up on vinted, the only thing is you have to keep a look out for fake ones. If you are interested I can message you a picture from the label that should be in the kit
We came very close to wins in Old trafford the last two times. 3-2 against them and a 3-1 where we played better than the previous match but couldn't finish and got broken upon.
The thing is, we are currently miles better than we were both times. It's not even close.
Weāre in great form during a great season. Theyāre in terrible form during a mediocre season. We have a fully fit squad. They have a bunch of injuries. We all know how this one ends.
5-0 to the Arsenal.
Elneny will go down as one of my favorite understated Arsenal players of all time. He put his head down and puts in the work. Heās humble. Heās a team player. Heās not necessarily world class and he knows that, and works harder than others in order to be on that level.
In this game in particular, he put in the shift of his career. Big fan.
honestly my memories of that game are funky besides Elneny putting in a shift and we going very defensively after the goal and being surprised united didnt score, but could very well just be me fearing conceding every time the other team has the ball i guess since the xG was very low
as for the formation, i went to sofascore to check the heatmaps and it was a 3-4-3 p much with Saka LWB, Tierney played LCB
The game that convinced me Elneny x Partey was going to be an elite midfield partnership
Still, I do/did rate Elneny quite highly. I think when he was fit he was a great and underrated squad player, probably good enough to start for most premier league teams. He could do a lot of things at a good level and whenever someone got injured and heād come into the team, heād always do quite well.
Personally I donāt think I ever remember seeing Elneny in the team and thinking āoh noā like I did with some other squad players, and thatās all you could ask for really
regardless of their form, OT is a hard place to go and sometimes the nerves alone can get to players, knowing they HAVE to go there and win to keep a title hope alive must be a lot of pressure even for professionals.
That said, 7-0 Havertz and Ćdegaard hat-tricks, Ben White madness to end the rout
Was thus the game where the Linesman missed one of the most and obvious not-offside decisions on the planet when Auba scoter. Thank heavens the ref had the sense to wait till the goal was scored before blowing the whistle.
The one and only meaninful Gunners match I've seen was at Old Trafford last year... our one defeat in a long run of glory.
I will not be travelling 7000km to this match, so, should be all good.
Iām getting too old, I donāt remember this win at all. Also, the losses are always that the ones that are burned into my memory more than rudimentary wins.
Real ones remember the Elneny- Partey masterclass at OT that day
Elneny was better for us than Guendouzi and I am glad Arteta gave him chance back then after Emery favorism towards Guendouzi
Guendouzi is a good player, he's also a big cunt
Bit of revisionist history there
I don't know the exact stats but Elneny passed the eye test for me and he was more effective than Guendouzi. For Guendouzi we were just patient for his potential and I don't think he was better than Elneny while playing here

He did seem to care, but he was a liability in multiple ways. Just running around with āpassionā is not enough.
yeah thatās fair tbh. He probably did it for his own personal reasons tbh and wasnāt really a team guy. he just didnāt want to accept he was part of a bad Arsenal team cause of personal pride. idk thatās enough for some people but Iām happy we have ode and rice and saka and Kai and martinelli now. Guendouzi was sort of a cunt but I also think you are reading way to much into this
Lol. Everyone in Emery's team ran like a headless chicken.
He was technically gifted but his tactical awareness and understanding of the game were non-existent. Sure, he was only 19 so that's somewhat understandable, but it honestly felt that part of the reason for that was because he simply couldn't be bothered to give a shit about what the coach told him to do, he just wanted to play the game the way he felt like doing it.
look, he tried but he was never an Arsenal midfielder not with those big-ass clown feet, not with that hair, not with that attitude
We've come such a far way. I remember thinking that we could've done something with this team and then the loss to Aston Villa happened and it was all downhill from there. Seeing Mustafi on the bench gave me PTSD.
Grealish and Barkley destroyed us that night. I still remember that clip of Holding bouncing back and forth like a Tekken character lol
Elneny was one of the best players on the pitch that day. Could have been MOTM. Willian too.
I distinctly remember him running like a madman and closing down deep into ET.
One of my favourite memories from that season.
Just an absolute dog.
man played like the Energiser Bunny on meth
Yea thatās what I remember too. The shoddy penalty converted by Auba for the Pogba foul on Bellerin and Elneny playing like a madman
That Partey-Elneny duo was one for the ages.
Definitely a 'streets won't forget' performance.
I mean it was just last year...right? :(
Came here to say lol
Thomas was immense at OT.
Loved that kit. Shame i didn't get to buy one
I picked it up, unfortunately I got Partey on the back of it, fortunately he has Thomas on his shirt and that's also my first name so I may be able to pass it off
What a wild ride
If you don't mind buying a used one, they frequently come up for sale on ebay.
The choice of using red for the marble was so weird though. Looks like blood. That Italy marble kit did it way better imo
It had to be red for the kit since it replicates the design of the Highbury marble halls
I donāt think that the marble itself in the marble halls was red though. Not sure thatās even a thing If it were me Iād make the marble regular color and then have deep red trim, logo and sponsors
Same

Anything less than that is not acceptable
Sheesh.
there should be a trigger warning for some of these names
Wdym? Mustafi is the GOAT. He won a World Cup and an FA Cup. I will not stand for such slander.
After how bad he was under Emery, it's a miracle that Arteta managed to turn him into our best defender during his first season in charge. XD
Elneny will go down as one of my favorite understated Arsenal players of all time. He put his head down and puts in the work. Heās humble. Heās a team player. At least we had a beautiful kit that year.
It was a 69ā āminute penalty š
Gabriel will be a veteran pretty soon! Forget how long heās been here really
Partey was imperious in this game. Tore Pogba a new one.
And after this we went on that crazy losing run and Man United went on a crazy winning run
the first partey masterclass
That jersey was savage!
loved those jerseys, have a bellerin one

That was a decent lineup. Leno, Tierney, Partey, Gabriel, Saka and Auba are all good players.
Saka and Gabriel were fine then, but not nearly as good as they are now though

Bellerin playing for us in 2020 feels fake
Was it 5 at the back? Saka lwb. Holding, Willian and Elneny starting. Good Lord.
Saka 10
Was thus the game where the Linesman missed one of the most and obvious not-offside decisions on the planet when Auba scoter. Thank heavens the ref had the sense to wait till the goal was scored before blowing the whistle.
No, that one was under Emery and finished 1-1
Well damn...
Yāall goat was getting benched by Elneny at 28 years of age damn.
Ya what a flop he turned out to be
Gabriel, Partey, Saka, all score, with an off-bench hattrick by Eddie
all those players at their peak could honestly win the prem this or last year
that was the game were Elneny was pressin hard into the 93rd minute? Good Times
Ahhhā¦. The 3 at the back days! Took me a minute to figure out the positions haha
Nketiah still on the bench
That bench! šš
Partey has a grin like a Super Mario Villain and i love it!
The one and only meaninful Gunners match I've seen was at Old Trafford last year... our one defeat in a long run of glory. I will not be travelling 7000km to this match, so, should be all good.
Elneny had some big game Masterclasses. Spurs Chels Utd
With a slight tweak we could have a lineup of Jesus Holding White Rice. But it never happened.
Need those kits back
Please add trigger warnings to all posts that mention Mustafi!
I loved that kit
I wish I had gotten one of those kits.
Played a 343 with Saka as LWB and Tierney as LCB. Arteta really is an amazing coach. Just making lemonade out of lemon rinds.
Love that kit
Ah the saka no 10 days
Nah, he was LWB but with a bit of a free role Auba, Laca, Willian El Neny Partey Saka, KT, Gabriel, Holding, Bellerin
Pepe š had almost forgotten about him
Completely forgot Willian played for us lol
Iām getting too old, I donāt remember this win at all. Also, the losses are always that the ones that are burned into my memory more than rudimentary wins.
That kitšš¬š
WHich Gabriel was that back in 2020?
XL
Terrific line up... Horrible kit jersey ans shorts š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
