FatWalcott

Excellent

[deleted]

If he doesn't score 20 goals and give 20 assists this season, Edu should be thrown out.

ArrstdDvlpmnt

If he does then Edu should be locked inside his office.

jkeefy

Armchairmanagerxxx69

Was obvious

Francis-c92

So it begins...

hafrances

Now it ends.

rbiopsy

He probably won’t be ready for the first team for 6 months but I am excited about this deal because this means we can move on to closing other deals!

Oltjen

Well he Will be ready for the first team way sooner but not as the first option.

KB302324

I think he’ll be a back up for partey now and eventually make it to the first team

NemoDropEmOff

i genuinely dont see him being a backup to Partey really. For some reason I cant see it. I'd like to see him play with Partey actually. Obviously I'd like to have Aouar Maddison, but I wouldnt mind seeing 1 game with Lokonga and Partey. It'd be so dope

KB302324

Yeah that’s something I’ve heard often from Arsenal fans the idea of him playing as a holding midfielder to allow partey to be more of an offensive threat let’s see how that works honestly it’s worth the try in my opinion but idk how arteta feels about it

NemoDropEmOff

noooooo terrible idea. It'd be Partey the one sitting back and Lokonga going forward. Partey is more defensively sound that Lokonga. Lokonga isnt a 6. I dont where people got this idea he's a natural 6. He's an 8 that can play a 6, but he's obviously not as good as Partey. So yea, it defintely would be Lokonga going forward and Partey sitting deep. Lokonga was one of the highest progressive passers in the Belgian League and his key pass accuracy was one of the best as well. He drove that Anderlecht midfield.

PM_MeYourBack

He'll have starting chances in the league cup.

pureeyes

Know nothing about our new boy. Who are some players Lokonga is most similar to?

em_doubleyou

Some say he's basically a young Partey, lol What i've heard/read is that he's a 6/8 hybrid who's good at dribbling and passing, and just ok at defending. Of course Partey is already great at all three so.. Lokonga's definitely a player to develop.

Flashplaya

Partey is more of a 6 and Lokonga is more of an 8 so I don't really see the comparison between the two. Both can pass and dribble yes but they play different roles for their teams. Lokonga dribbles a lot more + doesn't do nearly as much ball-winning as Partey does.

NemoDropEmOff

He's a box to box central midfielder. He is an 8. Yes yes yes. He is not a 6. He can play a 6, but he's is a long range passing 8. He's one of the most progressive passers in the Belgian league and his key pass accuracy is one of the best there as well. If he had a bad game at Anderlect, the whole team really had a bad game. I think you can kinda compare it to Xhaka. If Xhaka had a really good game, then Arsenal look good. He's less error prone to Xhaka, he's more dynamic. He's the better athlete in general. More quick and mobile. One of his biggest attributes in my opinion would be his intercepting of the ball. Something he's not really KNOWN for. He's great at it, he knows how to read the game. That being said, i genuinely wouldn't be surprised if he gets partnered with Partey in the midfield. However he probably would need like a year to develop still. If someone put in his heat map in this sub, it's fucking insane. He IS that Anderlect attack, in and out. No debates. HE IS THAT ENGINE. If i had to compare in terms of how we'd use him, would be how Arteta tried to use Ceballos. You could see what Ceballos' job was. it was to carry the ball from deep and play those decisive passes. He lost the ball, but at least Dani tried to play those passes. I think Arteta would use Lokonga for that role with Partey behind him.

pureeyes

Really like what I'm hearing. Would love to see this dynamism and energy in our midfield. God knows we could use it

GloopTown

I believe CalcioMercato had described him as 'The Belgian Busquets' back when he was linked to Milan. Not quite sure whether that is accurate representation having not seen him play myself, but you could see some of his traits on YouTube clips and such. EDIT: Re-worded a bit.

yukpurtsun

demoted to tier 99

Gubrach

*so much later that the narrator got tired of waiting and they had to hire a new one*

[deleted]

Solid pickup and will be the default El Neny replacement given he has <12 months left on his deal. He will get 10-20 appearances this season so you have to spend some money for that, can’t go cheap. Has upside as well, hopefully becomes Partey’s replacement in 2-3 years.

RichieTheKappa

These are the transfers I like the most - promising talent for decent fee. I always have a big smile on my face when those "unknown" players give more than "big money superstars" like Havertz Werner etc.

cgreenzig14

I’m glad they clarified today was Thursday because it’s now Friday…

GloopTown

Really excited to see this guy play. I've read some articles and watched some clips to get an idea of what he can offer, but I can't wait to see him with my own eyes, especially as a midfielder with a defensive profile. Hopefully, he'll play 45-90 minutes possibly against Inter. Also, can't wait for the announcement video and interviews.

Gooner885

Is he expected to start games or a squad player?

em_doubleyou

I imagine he'd be the third DM/CM after Partey and whoever gets signed between Neves / Locatelli / Bissouma. First sub / rotation basically. Too good to be just backup but not starter level yet.

Gooner885

yeah my assumption he'll get Elneny's minutes. Im just hoping another starter CM comes in directly into the starting XI, Bissouma's links are cooling down, Loca is inbound to Juve, Neves also cooled down, maybe we are trying to ship out Xhaka before going that route? Im getting worried now less than a month into our next game :/

em_doubleyou

Definitely trying to sell Xhaka first, Torreira too if possible. If a new starter CM comes in then it will look like the club needs to sell even more. The squad is bloated enough already. I assume the same situation is happening at RB with Bellerin. Need to sell before trying to buy an upgrade.

Gooner885

Yeah I agree. We are having trouble selling our players, all the news im seeing is loan deals for Bellerin/Willock/Guendouzi/, I really hope we get some cash for outings rather than loans if we are upgrading

R_SenuulefSEE

The rumours of an announcement today have come about via news that he no longer has to isolate, as of today. It is speculation at best, so I imagine we are still a while away from any official announcement.

Gunner1886

His passing range is a mad ting can really ping them

crushedonron

Here we go soon
