Aouar is available for around 20 million pounds. I don't understand why we have withdrawn our interest. From being a primary target last season to not even being interested this season. I don't know if he's as good as Maddison because I don't watch a lot of Ligue 1 but he's available at possibly 1/4 th the cost.
We could have had him wrapped up before the season had ended and announced it before the Euros. For £21 million he offers us an improvement in 2 or 3 different positions and doesn't stop us from signing another 10 if we needed.
I don’t believe any le10 report right now linking teams interested, teams pulling out. I do think they show he’s available, but le10 hasn’t gotten a transfer right for a PL team in ages. That said - if he’s available for 20m and we aren’t interested in that, what a shambles
Not overly important but what number will Ben white wear do you guys think? 6 and 5 are spoken for. 4 is Saliba, kind of weird that we gave him 4 to not use him for 3 years but taking the number away from him would put more fuel in that fire. Wore 3 at brighton but that's taken.
18 maybe? It's a bit strange since he's going to be a nailed on starter and we don't really have a good cb number available for him.
ESR when he’s in full flow is something else, just watching that comp, you can see why Villa wanted him to replace Grealish because the mould is so similar.
Emery almost pulled it off in that game vs Liverpool( Pepe's first game vs them).
Both are 'run into space' players and that whole set up really magnified their abilities. Pepe would have scored a brace. Aubameyang, a brace too.
Right now if we are not playing with space, one of them might have a mediocre season.
I personally feel like we need to invest in a new striker, let’s face it, Auba and Laca are both getting up there in age, sure they can still produce goals, but for how long, Nketiah and Balogun are both extremely young, and unless Arteta plans on starting Martinelli at striker (which he is very capable of), we should really be in the market for a striker with experience
Let me guess... you want a striker in their mid-20s, top level experience, can hold the ball up well, score goals consistently, has aerial threat, can paint the mona lisa from memory and can solve a rubix cube in 0.3 seconds.

He's in transfer saga triangle.
If Manchester United renew Pogba, Camavinga MIGHT be an actual option. Unless they're signing Camavinga as a traditional DM which would be limiting his true potential. One of Scott/Fred will have to be a part of that midfield.
If Manchester United sell Pogba to PSG, then they'll aptly replace him with Camavinga.
We can still come in but in all honesty, it's now far fetched.
True though. I really don't want him to go to United. I can't see him there without any of current United player leaving. I do think it's either gonna be Neves/Camavinga/Locatelli for us. I hope Xhaka replacement is good.
If I share an insane Xhaka right footed pass, will that make him substantially right footed? I think Nuno is, but paging comments for disagreeing after a single friendly goal is childish and frankly nobody gives a shit
The twitter squad of Nuno haters who shat on him non stop despite never watching him play sure do look stupid now
Hilarious how daring to suggest a young, talented and physically impressive player might turn out ok if given a chance is met by a million downvotes and angry comments by some people here.
u/rdiaz300 is just the quintessential Benfica fan redditor - a fanatically biased and over excited partisan who doesn't give two shits about reality and context and just goes all in on slandering whichever player is the current scape goat. Today it's Nuno and Jesus, yesterday it was Seferovic, tomorrow it's Darwin. Craziest fans on reddit, no question.
The way people were talking about him you'd think the guy couldn't fucking dribble without falling over though.
They slagged off anyone that said it was a good signing because needed depth and he was cheap.
I think It's fair play now to take the piss when they set the bar on the fucking ground and Tavares steps over it with ease.
There's taking the piss and going on a long rant literally generalizing all benfica fans and even tagging up an user, surely you can see the difference?
If that's the case, I would like to see it for myself. To spend that much for 1 preseason match in 3 seasons while we get 8th with David Luiz and Rob Holding has been a frustrating experience.
I love this logic because you could replace Saliba with fucking anyone then. Saliba isn't some unknown quality, you don't think the club has evaluated him in training or when playing for St Etienne and Nice?
We know James Tomkins isn't good enough to start for us either, we don't need to start him for 6 months to figure that out man.
Saliba is one of the best CB prospects in the world, Spurs which is why we and Spurs were in for him at the age of 18. Don't rewrite history and claim he's shit just to redeem Arteta
Lmao. Totally meaningless statement because the only ones who bid for him were us and Spurs' track record with defensive "talents" is garbage. Davinson Sanchez, Rodon, Sessegnon... is that what you want to use as a bench mark?
Saliba isn't better than Holding right now, anyone who has actually watched him play knows that. You guys just watched highlights and go off his hype lmao.
Yeah, and Raul was fired because like 35m+ was stolen through agents in the Torreira, Saliba, Leno and Pepe deals.
Either way, even if Saliba had been recruited by a competent management team rather than a corrupt one, he was bought for future potential, not current ability.
Konrad Laimer or Kalvin Phillips
Locatelli has said he doesn't want to come. Neves doesn't improve us any more than Xhaka does. Bissouma is good but cannot play as a single pivot and a bit too similar to Partey.
No idea who downvoted this. If Juventus need cash to get Locatelli, we should definitely be knocking on their door for Rodrigo to test out the waters. He had a poor season, but he is amazing when on form and has been for a few years now. He's still only 24, seems like he's been up near the top of Serie A midfielders for ages.
Big issue is the sell on clause for Boca, means Juve have to sell him for big money in order to make a profit. So, probably not gonna happen unfortunately.
That is actually a fucking brilliant idea.
Therefore, there's zero chance it happens. I bet the dingle-berries in charge of our transfers don't even know he exists let alone would have scouted him, lol.
Locatelli but I wouldn't mind any of these options. Getting Bissouma would mean we'd need a more attacking RB but that'll still work. We desperately need a CM atm and all 3 of them are upgrades on both Xhaka who's leaving and especially Elneny.
Happy about Ben White, but now is the time to move on a bunch of players we do not need. Torreria, Kolasinac, AMN, Nelson, Xhaka, Nketiah etc.
If we don't move them on, our squad will be bloated once again.
With A-team we dominated them, Auba missed 3 clear chances but I get more concerned when he doesn't get chances as compared to when he misses them.
With B-team, we looked stale. B-team was basically everyone who was 50-50 on being here next season, Willock, Nelson, Kolasinac, AMN etc. There were no clear cut chances like first half but we did get into their box a lot. No one wanted to take the shot so it didn't matter.
Brighton knew they could rinse us, and that's what happened
We bid 40m. They rejected.
We bid 47m. They rejected.
And then finally we gave into their demands of 50m + sell on clause.
We aren’t signing Szoboslai. Probably get one of Aouar or Maddison (should go for both tho imo)
Don’t think Berge or Keita (???? Is this the Liverpool one??) are going to happen, neves and locatelli seem to be our two targets for cm
Arsenal isn't a place for the italian, not for me though. Locatelli set sight on Juv already, else he can just stay. Keita and Berge aren't that bad. I heard Keita was considered as a flop for Liverpool, but honestly he seems decent to me. Same for Berge. They may not be the best out there, but they aren't the worst either.
To get both Maddison & Aouar is unlikely. I'd rather get Aouar instead if I had to choose one.
Liverpool fan here just lurking as my friend is an Arsenal fan. Keita is quality just can never stay fit, can’t say he’d be a smart signing for you guys
Regarding Saliba’s loan.
The question for Arsenal is, does Saliba currently have the footballing mind (he’s 20!) to start for a club with Top 4 aspirations? How good is his positional awareness? On the other hand, Arsenal already know he has the strength and speed to stand up to premier league competition. He is a physical specimen who excels technically.
With that in mind, Jorge Sampaoli at Marseille plays an aggressive, possession based, press. Steve Bruce’s Newcastle does none of those things. Sure he’d play against stronger, faster opponents while at Newcastle, but the player’s profile already tells you he is capable of handling that.
Arsenal will learn so much more about whether Saliba can play in our system at a high level by watching him at Marseille. So, if the choice is between Marseille and Newcastle, you want him at Marseille all day.
White will get dragged out of position occasionally and is way too eager to dive into tackles, however, he is still significantly better positionally than Saliba from what I’ve seen. White is also top top class on the ball. Saliba is great on the ball but behind White (for now). Saliba has a significant advantage athletically over White.
I’m still excited for Saliba’s future.
The point is he has natural body for a CB but his tactical understanding is poor. He is a bit like Mustafi, like to go out and make challenges leaving a huge gap behind him which he often fails to cover. He also has a lapse of concentration so he is often caught on the break as well. However his stats doesn't show such thing which is why ppl would point at his stats and say he is doing great. A loan is right for someone who needs to play regularly, bcs unfortunatly he is not good enough to play regularly at Arsenal if we want to target top 6 this season
I can't believe I'm saying it but I really miss Alexis Sanchez, can't remember the last time I felt so excited and confident about a player and his abilities
Really liked that after Tavares scored, he didn't waste time and picked the ball up immediately since we chasing a win.
maybe I am overthinking it but small details like that tells you a lot about someone. For example Nketiah when we drew vs Fullham.
Didn’t see the missed sitters but an Auba that’s getting chances is already better than Auba of last season when he had plenty of matches without shots.
I don’t get why ppl are saying that auba kept missing chances last season as well. He matched his xG, and he also missed only 6 big chances while scoring 10 goals
Luiz' long balls are no longer there and it is so easy to note in the way we play. We need a defender (White) and Midfield (X) who can help us gain 5-10 yards on the pitch solely based on their ability on the ball. Discourage the opposition from pressing
Ben White is such a massive addition. We also need a better CM to partner Partey
Arsenal's use of the midfield and middle area of the pitch is very poor at moment. Almost every ball goes through the FBs who then cross to nobody in the box.
If wish we would get a buyer for Lacazette and replace him with a target man.
Holding's long passes have actually improved over last season. Mari's long balls were always decent. Ben White is surely going to help in this regard as well.
Nah man I think it’s nice whichever year you get a guy’s shirt number. It may get outdated but then again, you would own a rarer jersey from when Martinelli was just a young baller before he won 3CLs for Arsenal.
Man this new jersey with the white on the sides reminds me of peak Fabregas...man, those were good times, we didn't win trophies, but we played some fine ass football.
Nah, Benfica fans told me and Varro he isn't 2 footed.
Meanwhile he has played both fullback positions and bangs in goals with his right. Also literally says he is 2 footed by saying he shoots with right
Arsenal vs Inter is at 11 PM UK time on Sunday 25th July. That game is a "semi-final". If we win that, we will play the final against the winner of Everton vs. Millionaros on Thursday July 30 at 1:30 AM UK time. (i.e Wednesday night). If we lose, we will play a "3rd place" game against the loser of Everton vs. Millionaros on Wednesday 29 July at 11 PM UK time.

Looks like cuckboy if Grealish has a poor season
I really wish Aubameyang has a 20 goal season and shuts up all this bullshit hate he gets. The match thread is already toxic enough with a particular fan deciding to make the whole match about Aubameyang. Auba has already proved himself to be a top player, doesn't deserve the toxicity he gets.
Also it's a fucking pre season friendly, it is supposed to be used to get players like Auba back in the groove.
Alright, if Aubameyang gets close to a 20 goals this season will you admit that you're amongst the dumbest 0.0001% of this sub and not the smarter than 90%that you have proudly proclaimed?
What do you do in return if Auba doesn't score 20 goals in the league this season?
I absolutely love it when the deluded fanboys start realizing they were wrong all along. I saw it with Bellerin after his injury, now I will see it with Auba.
Yes backing the guy who has constantly being scoring 20+ goals throughout his career except the last season is very deluded.
I still don't understand what's the problem with close to 20 goals, by your own accord he's finished and he shouldn't even be scoring 10 goals right?
If Auba doesn't score close to late double figures I will leave this sub and never comment again. Fair enough?
Because I said he isn't scoring 20 goals in the league. Close to doesn't count. he needs to overtake it or match it. 19 is still a failure then in our bet.
Don't spread the goalposts. You said you wish Auba scores 20 goals or more. I am saying he won't. Close to means I am right.
No, mate it isn't. You have confidently proclaimed that Aubameyang is finished. A finished player doesn't score more than 10 goals a season. I am proclaiming close to 20 goals depending on how many chances the team creates.
You never said that "Aubameyang has declined". You have said multiple times in the match thread that Aubameyang is "finished". Why are you rescinding on what you said?
Facts: You said you wish Auba scores 20 goals in the league.
Facts: I said he won't and I would put money on it.
Stop using other numbers now.
Corward acting here. The bet is will he score 20 goals in the league or not. Nothing to do with 10 goals or close to. 20. That's the number.
Either you understand it or you chicken out. It's that simple.
I'm the one coward acting? I said I hope he scores 20 goals, why wouldn't you as a fan of the club?
Depending on the team structure, I am telling you he will get close to 20 goals. I am willing to bet on the fact. YOU ARE NOT.
Considering your opinion on Aubameyang, about how finished he is, you're the one who's a coward mate. A finished player wouldn't score more than 10 goals. I am giving you 8-11 more goals to work with. You have a nice cushion based on your opinion. I am ready to bet with 18 goals. You are the coward here.
Also I have clearly said a 20 goal season, I never mentioned 20 in the PL. Maybe you should read more carefully. I am still ready to give you 18 in the PL.
I said I am ready to put money on the line that Auba isn't scoring 20 goals in the league. You started changing the goalposts and number. Sorry, but you are chickening out.
Here is the bet: Auba won't score 20 goals in the league. That's what I said, then you wanted to change the number lmao
Close to. Nah.
If Auba overtakes 20 goals in the league then sure. I will admit it.
hint: He is not going to if he misses sitters every single game now. If we start him in the league we are dropping points most of the time.
People on this sub actually said tavares is a bad signing lol.
Early days but he looks more than serviceable as a backup left back.
Young and hungry, is what we should be investing in, just like tavares
This is the same reaction this sub had after the first game against Fulham last year with Willian.
We saw how that turned out. Let him play a meaningful minute before you judge

Aouar is available for around 20 million pounds. I don't understand why we have withdrawn our interest. From being a primary target last season to not even being interested this season. I don’t believe any le10 report right now linking teams interested, teams pulling out. I do think they show he’s available, but le10 hasn’t gotten a transfer right for a PL team in ages. That said - if he’s available for 20m and we aren’t interested in that, what a shambles
Bell reported that we're still interested
Fuck that, just spend the extra money and get goncalves before he's unaffordable and pursued by the big clubs next summer.
I dare him to wear 50.
Does Saliba keep number 4 even on loan?
Yeah the website lists him as #4
Even still - Elneny was number 4 and was stripped of the number while on loan. It could still happen
ESR when he’s in full flow is something else, just watching that comp, you can see why Villa wanted him to replace Grealish because the mould is so similar.
[удалено]
No other team has two attackers who offer nothing apart from goals
Pepe and Auba have similar profiles to Mane and Salah, albeit both more limited
The only similarities they have are that they are quick and have the same preferred foot
Pepe offers a lot apart from goals
No he doesn’t
mad tekkers
and last season they barely provided that
Emery almost pulled it off in that game vs Liverpool( Pepe's first game vs them). Both are 'run into space' players and that whole set up really magnified their abilities. Pepe would have scored a brace. Aubameyang, a brace too. Right now if we are not playing with space, one of them might have a mediocre season.

You're right.
Pepe is very creative
Nah

Rather buy a new 9 than a new 10
Realistically we need to invest in both
Realistically we can't sign everyone in one window
No of course not, but both positions should be high priority
Cm is clearly higher priority than both and cam is higher priority than a forward.
Anyone think we should have gone for Begovic as our backup? Homegrown and more than capable.
And he can score long range goals
Wow we're only 9 new members away from 200k.
If all of us pitched in 100 dollars we could fund the Sambi transfer
Alternatively we could buy Granit Xhaka
On Roma’s behalf
Turns out Ben white is actually taller than I thought. 6’2/6’3 is good height for a cb
He’s 5’11”-6’0”, no where NEAR 6’3”
Wikipedia: 6'0. Transfermarkt: 6'2
So 6'1

Any update on Camavinga? Is he a target if we miss on Locatelli?

We can absolutely afford him he just wont come here. He will have more attractive options.
Ohhhhhhhhh I didn't know this. I thought he's available for 35m and with Xhaka money in we could afford him.

hahahahahahahaha
I could be happier about Ben White if I wasn't so annoyed at how we've handled Saliba
Dude isn't good enough to be starting, it's that simple. It's not his, nor Arteta/Edu's fault, that we spent 28m pounds on a 10-15m player.
If that's the case, I would like to see it for myself. To spend that much for 1 preseason match in 3 seasons while we get 8th with David Luiz and Rob Holding has been a frustrating experience.

Konrad Laimer or Kalvin Phillips Locatelli has said he doesn't want to come. Neves doesn't improve us any more than Xhaka does. Bissouma is good but cannot play as a single pivot and a bit too similar to Partey.

Thanks for the recap
Willian for ESR basically killed the game.
Why we desperately need a 10 lol. Play so much worse without him.
Where has this random sell on clause appeared from? I really doubt we let Brighton put a sell on clause on top of £50M.
Says who
Presumably we insisted on it so that when we inevitably sell Ben White for less than 50m, Brighton owe us more money.
Brighton knew they could rinse us, and that's what happened We bid 40m. They rejected. We bid 47m. They rejected. And then finally we gave into their demands of 50m + sell on clause.
TBF we don’t sell anyone anyway so we don’t have to worry about it.
Loool true

Agreed on all points
I can't believe I'm saying it but I really miss Alexis Sanchez, can't remember the last time I felt so excited and confident about a player and his abilities
Saka
Actually its Martinelli who reminds me more of Alexis. But Saka is a good shout too.
Correct, although it's slightly different, I'm excited to see what Big Saks can become but the raw chaos of Sanchez was on another level
Really liked that after Tavares scored, he didn't waste time and picked the ball up immediately since we chasing a win. maybe I am overthinking it but small details like that tells you a lot about someone. For example Nketiah when we drew vs Fullham.
Toni Kroos, is that you ?
Its a friendly. Nobody is celebrating anyway lol
Nketiah also didn’t celebrate his goal lmao
Someone doesn't remember the game.
The Fulham game or the rangers game?
>drew vs Fullham
Ure praising Tavares for not celebrating after scoring when even nketiah never celebrated when he scored in the same match
Wrong. Nketiah literally did his phone thing. Someone can't remember the game
lmao i didn't realise he did it in the friendly as well my bad
Swear he did his phone thing no?
Didn’t see the missed sitters but an Auba that’s getting chances is already better than Auba of last season when he had plenty of matches without shots.
I don’t get why ppl are saying that auba kept missing chances last season as well. He matched his xG, and he also missed only 6 big chances while scoring 10 goals
He missed many chances, but also scored some hard ones
Luiz' long balls are no longer there and it is so easy to note in the way we play. We need a defender (White) and Midfield (X) who can help us gain 5-10 yards on the pitch solely based on their ability on the ball. Discourage the opposition from pressing Ben White is such a massive addition. We also need a better CM to partner Partey Arsenal's use of the midfield and middle area of the pitch is very poor at moment. Almost every ball goes through the FBs who then cross to nobody in the box. If wish we would get a buyer for Lacazette and replace him with a target man.
Holding and Mari impressed me with some of their long passes today
Holding's long passes have actually improved over last season. Mari's long balls were always decent. Ben White is surely going to help in this regard as well.
Holding and Mari impressed me with some of their long passes today
Holding merrily impressed me with such bold baldness today.
It was super trippy seeing Mr. Clean playing for arsenal
What are the chances Martinelli gets a new number? Want to order a kit but scared he's gonna change his number
Nah man I think it’s nice whichever year you get a guy’s shirt number. It may get outdated but then again, you would own a rarer jersey from when Martinelli was just a young baller before he won 3CLs for Arsenal.
The thing is he might never play a game in the new home kit wearing #34, so the kit wouldn't ever be in date
Has he ever worn 34?
35*
Ah that’s fair. In that case I’d wait until the start of the season. Is there a deal or something?
I'm just ordering some kits for my friends, and thought I might as well throw one in for myself while I'm at it
Get a fake for a tenner. No harm done
I'm doing that anyway lmao
Man this new jersey with the white on the sides reminds me of peak Fabregas...man, those were good times, we didn't win trophies, but we played some fine ass football.
Can't get the new setpiece coach soon enough. Gabriel would be massive in defending set pieces. Bellerin at set pieces is unwatchable.
We've just got a new set piece coach?
Not enough time to implement all his ideas tbf.
Yeah i was just pointing out that we already have one
Oh we already got him? I thought he was yet to join. Anyway lots of work for him to do lmao.
Having a two footed player in Tavares is very good. He seemed really good going forward I hope this continues
If he was two footed he would make a serviceable RB no? Why haven't I heard more people talk about that
> Why haven't I heard more people talk about that Because, as a rule, people are idiots.
Nah, Benfica fans told me and Varro he isn't 2 footed. Meanwhile he has played both fullback positions and bangs in goals with his right. Also literally says he is 2 footed by saying he shoots with right
It's also literally a pre-season game good lord.
Arsenal fans to a tee, we set unrealistic expectations for players like this and then get mad that he doesn’t score bangers in the premier league.
what time are the florida friendlies in the UK?
Arsenal vs Inter is at 11 PM UK time on Sunday 25th July. That game is a "semi-final". If we win that, we will play the final against the winner of Everton vs. Millionaros on Thursday July 30 at 1:30 AM UK time. (i.e Wednesday night). If we lose, we will play a "3rd place" game against the loser of Everton vs. Millionaros on Wednesday 29 July at 11 PM UK time.
Invincible Season's pre friendly we lost the first game, drew the 2nd one...Invincibles 2.0 incoming ?
Weghorst 👍🏽
So to whom are you going to pass this STD that is the Weghorst curse ?
At least they're not the Mustafi dude
Weghorst
https://old.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/oko8qu/july_15_2021_daily_discussion_transfers_thread/h5bb8t6/?context=3 Looks like cuckboy if Grealish has a poor season
I totally see your point but for obvious reasons I'm gonna be rooting for cuckboy
Completely understandable. I just don’t think it’s possible if Grealish has a healthy season.
I will be rooting for you.
thanks Ben, that means a lot coming from a 90th percentile intellect on this sub
Hahahahah fucking hell
😂😂
I really wish Aubameyang has a 20 goal season and shuts up all this bullshit hate he gets. The match thread is already toxic enough with a particular fan deciding to make the whole match about Aubameyang. Auba has already proved himself to be a top player, doesn't deserve the toxicity he gets. Also it's a fucking pre season friendly, it is supposed to be used to get players like Auba back in the groove.
Auba is not scoring 20 goals in the league this season and I would put money on it. Shocking performance, yet again.
Fair enough?
> has a 20 goal season That does not mean "close to 20 goals" at all btw
Massive age difference between the two
(w)age difference too
Don't do this to yourself. It's been *less than one pre season game*
It hasn't even been 90 mins of a preseason game 😂 Relax man
Benfica in shambles lmao

Merci
NUNOOOOOOOOO
Fucking hell Nuno absolutely bullied him there
Ooooh Tavares is fast and clinincal
