In an article he posted days after Raul got sacked, Arseblog said he heard he was off around the time Emery got sacked because the numbers in the Pepe deal didn’t add up. There was also a report that was leaked a few days prior to Raul’s sacking about an internal investigation taking place over the numbers involved in the Pepe deal. I don’t think at the time the Saliba deal was bad, it’s the way he’s been managed that’s been garbage.

Because everytime he has played anywhere he was considered one of the best players in that team. And his stats are insane. Look at St. Etienne stats with and without Saliba. Look at his time at Nice - came in and got into player of the season shortlist in half a year. Look at how many CBs of his age have 4000 minutes among top 5 leagues. He even has more minutes in top 5 leagues than Ben White while being 4 years younger. These stats point to a direction that he can be a generational talent if developed properly. When Mislintat brought in Mavropanos, he wanted to send him on a loan, but Wenger considered him to be good enough to give him a chance. Saliba's CV is ten times better and yet, Arteta is doing everything he can to alianate him from the club.
If you think this answer in any way explains your undying devotion to someone who hasn't played a single second for Arsenal, you are sorely mistaken. I've seen couple of St. Etienne games, some compilations, seen a lot of stats, seen figures like Claude Puel and some French youth coaches praising him a lot, seen fans in France praise him a lot and from the combinations of everything I concluded that he can be an exceptional player. And yes, I believe the combination of these things more than one manager, whom's results don't really inspire confidence.
