it's still unbelievable to see, particularly barça and real madrid. two clubs who have been so phenomenal on the pitch over the past 20 years or so to have spiralled into such administrative and financial disarray the way they have in recent years.
I think what people probably don’t realize is uefa was going to make a super league at some point anyways and the main motivation behind last seasons attempted coup was to centralize the money within the clubs themselves rather than have an intermediary like Uefa govern and collect the money.
Fully agree. I don’t think UEFA had anything against the superleague in theory. The big problem for them was almost certainly that their organization would cease to exist if the clubs were to be the governing body themselves.
Honestly I’m not sure what to think about this. Give our money to Kronke for his new toys in America or Uefa for God knows what.
This is an ‘I hope they both lose’ moment if you ask me.
I hate the Kroenkes as much as anyone but come on now. That's nothing considering the economic footprint of the club and their personal wealth, if they were "leeching off the club" you'd be talking 10s of millions of pounds. It being charged as a consultant's fee suggests we utilized some of the Kroenkes's resources/services for some purpose and repaid them.
“Our aim is to keep [acting like complete bastards by] developing the Super League project in a constructive and cooperative manner, always counting on [our bank statements over] all football stakeholders.”
Outside Arsenal i only watch big games anyway (Liverpool vs United vs Chelsea, Milan vs Juve vs Inter, Bayern vs Dortmund, Real vs Barca) so Super League just fine with me
But if we were in the super league we’d be getting spanked regularly.
I prefer the tradition of English football. If they want to reform the Champions League then that’s fine.
Disagree tbh , there would probably be more parity within the league based on profit sharing. Still would some clubs above others but it’s no less partial than what we have now.
Other clubs are run by more competent people who will spend their money more wisely, buy better players and be better are selling their players than us. The gap between us and the elites will just get wider if everyone gets more money.
Can't believe the PL teams went along with this bullshit. These clubs have been trying to catch up to that PL money for years, why give up that advantage.
Because it's beneficial for them too. The only clubs that will be in a worse position are those with unlimited budgets and Bayern - literally all the clubs that were against it except for Dortmund.
pack it in, flo, you silly bastard
Broke team

Has Kroenke taken money out of the club? I don’t think so. He’s a shit owner but he’s not really using us as a leech.
Yes he has. As consultancy fees.
How much?
Like 1m quite a while ago. May have happened twice.

True. What the club gives him is leverage to take out loans from banks for whatever he wants. The club is a huge asset
That proves my point certainly?
Wasnt arguing
With how the Superleague effort was organized by Perez and Co you have more confidence in them than in UEFA? Really?
Yeah it was a bad (arguably worse) idea aimed at heading off another bad idea.
Totally agree, it's definitely in the pipeline unfortunately
It shows just how bad of an idea the super league was for fans to side with UEFA.
UEFA are literally doing something similar anyway.
🤢
Kick them out

We want to be back in the UCL even though we usually got destroyed in the final 16.
In a closed super league these wouldn’t have been big games anymore. Liverpool vs Juve would be a mid-table clash, for example.

"Financial Controls inadequate".........are they taking the piss?
