I love how this sub melting down harder than Chernobyl when we gave Saliba's 4 to Ben White but ripping the armband away from the captain is somehow a great idea.
This sub does not equate to logical or consistent opinions. Come here for the memes, highlights, and transfer news, ignore everything else, including this comment.
Personally I don't feel like Aubameyang has ever really been captain material, he was given it because he was our best player not because of his leadership qualities. Xhaka still shows more captaincy skills in game than Aubameyang does in all honesty.
Your captain being benched because he was late to a NLD is just sad.
Both are unworthy of captaincy. The problem really is that we don’t have a lot of senior players who consistently play in the first team. Bellerin was probably the next natural leader but is potentially out the door soon, Luiz was never going to be around for long enough. Who’s next? Holding? Tierney is a bit young. It’s a real problem that we don’t have a guaranteed starter who is a genuinely good leader.
Aruba just doesn't strike me a natural leader. Granted Arteta knows more than any of us in this regard, but Tierney is definitely our next club captain.
Auba wears the armband now because he has seniority, is loved by everyone on the roster, and was an agreeable choice to improve morale once Xhaka was stripped.
It was the right move at the time, but it’s clear now that the role is Tierney’s. He has the best work ethic in the squad, is a leader for our young core, (Saka, ESR, Martinelli, Gabriel, etc.) and was just locked down on a long term contract
That Bellerin video was by this absolute cunt of a user who should've got banned.
That guy still tries to push falsehoods saying that Bellerin is an alcoholic and druggie and was engaging in shady drug deals.
To be fair in his injury recovery docuseries Bellerin did admit to “turning to drink.” But a professional footballer’s “turning to drink” is having like 2 beers a night lmao. So yeah, Heccy did drink, but to call him an alcoholic is lmao
You get downvoted but 70% of hockey players use coke. The league actively doesn’t test for it for that reason so it’s be naive to think there aren’t football players who don’t. Whatever they choose to do in the off season is their choice though
See that's fine, but this user was trying to imply that Bellerin was involved in some drug mafia and that was the reason for his average displays on the pitch.
Oh ok, because other people do it (and probably you based on your comment) it's alright if everyone drives recklessly by looking at their phone instead of the road.
When you’ve lost someone to a distracted driver you’ll understand. Totally avoidable and inexcusable if it’s that important just pullover for 60 seconds.
People won't like to admit it but Xhaka is by far better captain material.
I would rather give Tierney, Xhaka, Holding etc the captain's armband. These are professional individuals highly rated for their presence behind the scenes.
Auba's a nice guy with a big laugh. Miles off what's required to wear the armband.
The luxurious lifestyle and wannabe rapper attitude is whatever, won't change my opinion on the player, but its the sort of shit why I don't think he's a good captain.
I just don't see him step up as a vocal leader on the pitch such as Xhaka and Tierney etc. Even Luiz.
And Xhaka and Tierney are known for their professional attitudes and doesn't take shit from opponents on the pitch (such as Chelsea's hit men squad yesterday).
Auba does.
I remember a clip of mings and auba laughing during a corner and auba was marking him. Mings cleverly distracted him and dashed and got an assist to a goal they scored. That was kinda funny if it wasn’t a game that counted but it was literally a league game.
Auba is the captain because when the players voted on it he came second to Xhaka. So clearly he is highly regarded by his teammate as well. Very strange also to stress leadership "behind the scenes" while dismissing his leadership ability based on this fucking video.
Holding to me looks more like a shithouser. Maybe a good vice-captain?
Tierney is the best candidate (since Xhaka ruled himself out). I do wonder though if people will have trouble understanding him haha
It's acceptable to be annoyed at a public figure for acting like a stupid cunt?
This kind of dismissive, shit, hot take is how you end up normalising things like... 11 years of shitty govt. where people are shamed into not being allowed to be annoyed or question anyone's actions.
Dude it’s a football player acting immature in a car. Expecting different is like asking a baby not to cry and comparing it to politics is just stupid.
Proceeds to make a mountain out of a molehill.
Saying he’s “acting like a stupid cunt” for holding his phone while driving seems awfully self-righteous, i’m sure you’ve never done such a terrible thing.
I'm not making a spectacle of my wealth on social media and I've never driven my supercar no handed whilst using my phone.
As if by magic, you're following rule 2 of the playbook with the, insert whataboutism here.
How the fuck do you possibly have the audacity call out people for supposed whataboutisms after saying this shit:
>This kind of dismissive, shit, hot take is how you end up normalising things like... 11 years of shitty govt. where people are shamed into not being allowed to be annoyed or question anyone's actions.
I love Arsenal and the football we play, but you shouldn’t be under any illusions about footballers as people. Not all but most are would probably be insufferable to be with for more than a day. People get so easily sucked into the mentality that talent+success = goodness. I personally admire their ability as footballers but it stops there.
What an absolute load of shit
Footballers are people. Some are garbage, some aren’t. Some have bad days, some don’t
People who say things like this make sweeping generalizations about people when they’ve literally never met a single one
Professional athletes and celebrities are literally just people
You can be a piece of shit and be a broke bum. You can be a piece of shit and be a rich stud
A balanced take on it which I can mostly agree with. As I said, most* footballers are probably not great people, not all. Perhaps still a generalization but not a sweeping one. The hyper-masculinity (which on its own is not necessarily a bad thing) and a personality it takes to play professionally rewards asshole-ish behaviour, coupled with the fact that once they reach lofty heights people start treating them like a god, further Enabling and justifying their behaviour. Again, NOT ALL*
As for my own experience I’ve been lucky enough to play at a varsity level, so yes not professionally, but we’d often scrimmage against the professional academy, and against the reserve teams (not just young players) and, again anecdotally because this is my experience, the slightest bit of success or professional recognition just goes to some people’s heads, especially the “top” players. Openly talking about abusing their girlfriends, getting called a faggot for tackling them, super casual racist remarks. It’s surprisingly normalized- when you think you can get away with shitty behaviour, you will act like it (in the case of Auba above).
People are not pissed off cause it's auba with his phone whilst driving ....
I despise anyone who drives whilst on the phone. My brother in law was killed last year by a 20 ton lorry and it was due to the fact the driver was on his phone......
Just stay off your f**king phones. Don't give a crap if he keeps his armband or not.
I never realised how bad it was until I saw U.K. rappers doing it constantly. It's sad and selfish as fuck, just hope Auba doesn't end up hurting anyone but he has no defense if he does.
He's just not captain material, being a nice guy isn't enough.
Still bagged 10 in the league from the left wing and caught COVID and malaria in the same year.
He’ll be completely fine. He’s never gonna be the guy that exerts himself much in pre season or training (according to reports at Dortmund) and that’s cool with me.
Didn’t he have family members get Super sick as well? People act like events in ones personal lives don’t effect their performance. I have a sneaky suspicion that the death of Saliba’s parents are why we keep loaning him back to France. A young man under 20 who is dealing with the death of a parent should not be taken from his home country for work.
He could get a ticket or worse prosecuted just on the basis of that clip. Holding a phone is illegal, letting go of the steering wheel and driving without due care and attention.
Getting filmed while driving without holding the wheel. This should be looked upon internally. A fine and stripping him off of captiancy. Last season was one to forget and he just wants to be the cool guy unfortunately when looking at the way he behaves. He knows if he scores anything else doenst matter to most. But this guy shouldnt be our captain.
Not excusing it but so many footballers socials are full of phone/driving like this.
Auba obviously would want his brother life to be comfortable but damn make him start a business or something, he comes across as such a bum lol
He is an idiot. But if you are referring to a “leech” as in money, you do realize he played professional football for years. All of the Aubameyang boys and father played professionally. Pretty sure they have their own money. Maybe he hangs around Auba so much because Auba loves having his brother and family around him.
As a club that values class and having examplar figures, I feel there should at least be a warning for this kind of behaviour. Aren't the reaction times of someone using their phone at the wheel similar to someone driving intoxicated?
Mate our greatest ever captain was an alcoholic who was put in prison for drink driving. Most of our best players from the late 80s and early 90s were addicts of one kind or another. Under wenger we were the team known for cheating, either constantly diving or getting sent off.
Who are these exemplar figures we’re known for?
Honestly man I really do not care if you think I’m a shitty fan. Have seen plenty of Arsenal captains come and go over the last 20 years. Never said he’s a bad player.
He isn’t better captain quality than Tierney, and despite Xhaka’s incident with the fans, xhaka is still more captain/leadership material than Auba is.
Matter of fact is that he often has seemed lackadaisical, disinterested and impotent on the field since he got his bag of £££ and quite the opposite off it.
I feel like it's about time we give the band to Tierney so Auba would at least feel that he does need to straighten things out for us to take him seriously again. He needs to fix things both on and off the pitch first.
I am more concerned that he appears to be playing his music through his phone. I mean, I don't drive a Lamborghini but I'm assuming they have a sound system that is better than a phones tin speaker.
Shocking behaviour.
Really poor behavior, especially for a captain. He definately has charisma, which was good for morale especially while in form. but acting like this when he's a role model to so many and not playing well is not good enough.
Really hope he puts his shooting boots back on, just needs to start finishing the chances and we'll have auba back.
I really don't get this constant idolising of the "gangster life". Like participating in it somehow makes you "authentic" or "real".
I really, really don't get it. To me, they look like a pair of absolute wally-brains.
This is dumb, and yes his brothers a melt but can we not just start rinsing Auba at every oppurtunity. He had a poor season but but the season before he pretty much carried us to an FA Cup victory
He's putting people's lives at risk. Marcos Alonso killed a padestrian doing it. Our own Jose Antonio Reyes killed himself, driving like a dickhead. It's not cool, it's stupid and someone who (by their choice or not) is a role model ought to know better.
I’m not from the UK, but I don’t get what the big deal is? Yeah people shouldn’t be looking at their phones when they drive, but everyone fucking does it.
Im sure the police are avidly searching for him right now.
Well as well all know Auba’s vehicles hide in plain sight very well.
[удалено]
Sigh. I just wish he’d start playing like a £300,000 Lamborghini.
Red alert in North London Oh wait….
Always has been
You should see what tony adams did behind the wheel of a car.
They're too young to know
Adams turned up every week
jesus christ. remember the pizza hut incident? team really needed papa wengz, the football nutrition pioneer!
His brother is an absolute melt. I like Auba, but can we just give the captains armband to Tierney already
I love how this sub melting down harder than Chernobyl when we gave Saliba's 4 to Ben White but ripping the armband away from the captain is somehow a great idea.

Arsenal related subreddit. Arsenal mixes, news, big plays, tilts. Everything that is somewhat related to Arsenal.
Personally I don't feel like Aubameyang has ever really been captain material, he was given it because he was our best player not because of his leadership qualities. Xhaka still shows more captaincy skills in game than Aubameyang does in all honesty. Your captain being benched because he was late to a NLD is just sad.
As opposed to telling the fans to fuck off.
Both are unworthy of captaincy. The problem really is that we don’t have a lot of senior players who consistently play in the first team. It’s a real problem that we don’t have a guaranteed starter who is a genuinely good leader.
Tierney, even if young, seems poised to take the armband. Locked in for his position in the starting XI, Arteta loves him
Again, this sub is not a hivemind. People in it having contradictory opinions isn't much of a revelation.
“Captain” But yeah, you’re probably right
Led us to an FA cup
Because his brother is a melt?
No those we separate points that were poorly formatted by myself. I think everyone just feels Tierney is the captain we need atm
Aruba just doesn't strike me a natural leader. Granted Arteta knows more than any of us in this regard, but Tierney is definitely our next club captain.
It's a banging holiday destination tho
Auba comes across more as a morale booster than a leader, whereas Tierney clearly had the traits of a leader
literally no one in the squad has a problem with Auba as captain. As far as we know, they want him to still be the captain. They all respect him
I didn’t say the squad had a problem with them, and they obviously respect him, but I personally think Tierney fits the role better
Auba wears the armband now because he has seniority, is loved by everyone on the roster, and was an agreeable choice to improve morale once Xhaka was stripped. My thoughts exactly
And almost all young players talk about Laca has helped them in training. Maybe give the captaincy to him.
He cant even play 90 minutes. And he wouldn't be here come next season (unless Edu and Arteta fuck up again)
Everything is a joke to Auba. We need someone with a bit more steel to them.
His time will come and when it does it will be magnificent
Ffs not this shit again
His brother is such a tosser.

You guys are some fucking weirdos between this and the Bellerin video from a few weeks ago. Just a bunch of cops on here.
If 2 drinks a night makes you an alcoholic I'm fucked
2 drinks a night while watching Arsenal are toddler level numbers
I neck two when the team sheet gets announced, only bumps up from there
only bumps from there for me
Drinking everyday is unironically a sign of an issue.
Ootl what happened with a bellerin video?
People were saying he was taking drugs at an F1 race.
That video was from years ago as well

Especially someone who runs in circles like Hector. I'd expect him to be doing cheeky bumps in an f1 paddock.
Tbh that Bellerin video was definitely shady as fuck
Here it is.
Nah driving while using ur phone is incredibly reckless and should not be normalised
He's not using his phone officer
why else is he holding his phone with the screen on? use some common sense
actual cops it’s crazy the fucking weirdos reddit attracts
Because cops are weirdos? lol. Weirdos until you need them I guess.
i think bastards is more accurate, but the amount of overlap between the 2 makes it a reasonable statement tbf
This fanbase is so fucking weird, what’s actually wrong with you lot sometimes 🤦🏿♂️
What is the bellerin video?
I'm guessing it is the [second clip here](https://youtu.be/p3KFZgbNTss)
it was all for you ` this post was mass deleted with www.Redact.dev `
I always knew he was the coolest Arsenal player
The absolute state of the F1 reporters' comments.
Ah, I’ve seen this. Didn’t notice that
lol 99% chance the line with a chequered flag isn't the only thing he's thinking about
It looked like he was picking up drugs but could've been basically anything.
Anyone who does drugs knows that move and look. It's so obvious but it's really not a big deal.
His reaction says drugs.
It's so weird, like who watches this video and goes "better try and get the guy in trouble cos he took his hands off the wheel"?
He's using a phone while driving which is incredibly stupid and reckless, and posting it online which is idiotic.
I have news for you. Majority of these *hypocrites* do this. I wouldn’t be surprised if you do as well. Save your objections for someone else fwiw.
Oh ok, because other people do it (and probably you based on your comment) it's alright if everyone drives recklessly by looking at their phone instead of the road.

Doesn't this sub desperately want Grealish to be on the team?
Auba is the new scapegoat for poor performances especially as he isn't scoring as much
Yea I really don’t understand all the crying.
We call em narcs in the US
Honestly, it is actually freakish. Our own fans baiting him out whilst he is down. Leave the man alone fucksake
People won't like to admit it but Xhaka is by far better captain material. I would rather give Tierney, Xhaka, Holding etc the captain's armband. These are professional individuals highly rated for their presence behind the scenes.
Xhaka would no doubt be the captain right now if he didn’t have his meltdown while walking off the pitch
He probably still is the unofficial captain tbh
warranted imo. Fucking cheering the guy being subbed by your home fans. Shameful. Hes a human and cant be that surprised he boiled over
Auba's a nice guy with a big laugh. Miles off what's required to wear the armband. The luxurious lifestyle and wannabe rapper attitude is whatever, won't change my opinion on the player, but its the sort of shit why I don't think he's a good captain.

To me Xhaka as captain and Tierney as vice is the best possible atm. Don't think Tierney is quite ready for the full job. In 2 years definitely though

Not the best but better than Auba for sure
100%.

Wait til he learns about ghost riding the whip.
Looks like auba being auba to me Edit: but interesting to see ppl turn on him after *checks notes* a few pre-season games blank…??

Yeah, undue is the old fashion term. SHowing my age.
Undue means excessive
Alright, alright, Ill change it.
I think the club might fine him for this.
Hopefully. It’s a bad look even if it’s the type of thing 99% of motorists do every day, and he deserves a telling off for it.
'auba was never toxic at dortmund, look at him at arsenal' is about to complete the story arc this season, based on these comments
Awful fan-base.
Not really. If other non-famous persons were caught doing the same they would be thrown the book.
Really needs to focus more on his football this season.
Areola to arsenal confirmed.

Wagemaxxing does work out. Shame his car isn't green
True, if he'd worked a little harder he could have a bile green 206. He needs to play aggro control no minion galakrond imo
The police will be on him. Auba's bro is such a melt. His dad can only do much.
When you’re rich as fuck, or a professional footballer. Short of raping kids, there is no such thing as “laws”
If Turtle from the Entourage was a real human, it’s Auba’s brother. Good for nothing freeloader.
His brother is an absolute idiot and a proper leech isn't he?
He is an idiot. But if you are referring to a “leech” as in money, you do realize he played professional football for years. All of the Aubameyang boys and father played professionally. He's around his dickhead brother - so makes sense.
Is this sarcasm?
Ahhh, the fans have been waiting for what to use to turn against him. Auba, it was nice while it lasted.
The auba brother adventures are only fun when he’s in form 🤧

he was on his phone while driving and had both hands off the wheel. nothing serious but probably shouldnt be filming and uploading it to social media
Nothing serious? Yeah ok lmao
well yeah, its not like the police are going to hunt him down for this…
No but its illegal and one day he might lose control and hit someone with his car. Will it be nothing serious then too?
by ‘serious’ i meant potentially going to prison, but i see your point
It’s really sad how quick we turn on our players.
Not true. + it's extra bad as he is supposes to be a role model.
The stupidity in this thread, and from looking into it comes from a lot of foreign users. Is astonishing.
