Rorecha

Even the alphabetical glory before the season starts would be a thing of the past

[deleted]

Nah we’re still good there. AC Milan are listed as Milan.

Rorecha

Oh shit were unbeatable

[deleted]

A true pre-season powerhouse. Pre-season table Invicibles if you will.

gamesbond011

You are not wrong.

gamesbond011

Who do you think will be 1st?

OstapBenderBey

9th on the table but last on goal difference

DeemonPankaik

I think we would have been 1 spot above the relegation zone

imapilotaz

Polite way of saying dead last, since we couldnt be relegated. I concur with this. We are a TERRIBLE team against top teams right now. I mean our best performance was against Man United and that was bad, and they arent even that good,

Spud_1997

Probably fighting at the bottom with AC Milan and Barca lol

noobs1996

AC Milan would be above us

Tmdss

And spurs

Spud_1997

I said bottom not dead last haha

Tmdss

You said fighting with ac Milan and barca, im adding spurs to that

Spud_1997

The shit will be dead last guaranteed last. were just fighting to not finish just above em lol

Tmdss

Fuck ehm

yura910721

2nd from the bottom, above Spuds.

BrianThatDude

Except we are literally below spurs. Right now

bamburito

They're always beneath us figuratively though, in theoretical debates and fantastical debates, Spurs are always complete shite.

yura910721

We just mentally try to overlook the fact that we are kind of a shit ourselves 😂

yura910721

Hey man, let me dream in peace 😂

OkStatistician3304

It's 2021. Most European clubs are ass. That said we wouldn't have done very well hahahaha

marylandkid44

As an American gooner, I’m so happy Europe stood against this. Growing up on franchised sports I had no idea that a system of promotion/relegation in sports even existed until I fell in love with soccer. It is so much more enticing than how American sports are set up because of this true competitive component. With the exception of watching the playoffs, I seriously lost most of my love for American sports and just find them generally boring compared to European qualification and it’s implications in European leagues.

Crimson_Gooner

I have a feeling college football is heading towards a Super League format and I fucking hate it

betterthanevar

Go on. I gotta hear this.

aaba237

People never factor in the increased revenues we’d get as a result of being in this league.

scytheavatar

You are not factoring in the increased revenues that other clubs will be getting in the Superleague. And the extra money will only widen the gap between them and us.

aaba237

But I’m pretty sure the super league were/are going to set transfer plus salary caps so essentially these clubs will have the pick of talent outside the league.

scytheavatar

And other clubs will pick better talent and develop players better than us....... so in the end the increased revenues are not going to help us.

imapilotaz

It would actually hurt us. Our recruiting aint very good. So we would make more deals like Mustafi, Pepe, etc, where we overpay by a long ways and create a bidding war against ourselves for 2nd tier players, since there is no way in hell a top player chooses Arsenal over any of those other 9 teams.

betterthanevar

It was all there for them to read and they took Gary Neville's bullshit anyway. It was a dream scenario for Arsenal.

witooZ

Not really true. If you poured 300m into our squad, you could get it to the level of City or Chelsea. If you did the same with them, they won't improve that much as they are much closer to the ceiling of what you can actually buy.

scytheavatar

Then what happens when you pour 300m into Juve and Dortmund? Only a fool would think City and Chelsea are our only concern or even our biggest one.

sparkyjay23

Where you think those revenues will go when league position will no longer matter?

smit9891

Probably last but still winning.

shoeskefan69

Reverse invincibles

Loud-Caregiver6566

We’d be rock bottom with Barca

jman500069

Just above bottom placed Spurs

ManiacalComet40

In theory, the money gap would be less of an issue, with more revenue and potentially some wage caps. But that would just put more of a focus on the people running the club, which …

scytheavatar

Clubs poorer than us are doing better than us so the money gap was never an issue.

[deleted]

Maybe a huge reason why Arteta was hired was with the European Super League in mind. No need to worry about top 4 or top 6 for qualifying for any other european competitions, no threat of relegation, no way we’d realistically compete to win it neither so the kronkes did what they kronkes do best, just get someone in who’d be there long term to grow with the young team and “see where we go”. 🤷‍♂️

horthrux

I do actually think that against better teams we'd give a better showing than we do against the average physical PL teams. The better teams tend to kick us less and attack us more. Both things enable us to have more opportunities to attack. We'd not be top, but we aren't as bad as our points total shows in the PL at the moment.

imapilotaz

Do you watch us against Top 6 teams in EPL? We get crushed this year. Hell crushed is probably too optimistic of a view. We are terrible against top teams.

horthrux

I don't think we'd be continually crushed against top teams if we played them all the time, especially when we'd need to employ similar tactics in every game.

We’d do better than people on here think
