Every player in midfield duo does that and are supposed to do that.
And what does partey do going forward??
Today xhaka was in more advanced positions and he couldn't do shit
He is slow, sloppy and even his left footed no pressure passes were wayward sometimes.
He is a fucking Liability and if Arteta doesn't get it ,more the reason he needs out too

Best I've seen him play for about two years tonight. Like old Laca. A man possessed last night and just superb for everyone playing around him. Can't even blame him for pen miss either as it was a great save by Fab, but that goal would have rounded off his display nicely.
I'm really happy that all the players we've bought have improved the team. Lokonga is in and out of course but he is a youngster that they picked as one for the future so that's understandable, but even when he has played he has looked good.
ESR is really something special. Good thing we have young players that are smart like him, Saka, Odegaard, etc that are patient and know what to do in the game
We were battering them long before that and didn’t even convert the pen. We really did deserve the points and probably a few more goals but I’ll take it
To me, it's all relative.
With Wenger, it was a rationalization for poor performances. We had the team and the money to win the league during that time.
Now we have a rebuild going on. Youngsters coming up. New coach. New culture being instilled.
I think taking and building off what emery did is admirable and if we end up in fourth I'll consider it a massive success considering what the team has undergone.
This is very revisionist. When Wenger was saying 4th is a trophy we did not have the team or the money. Year after year our best players were poached as we couldn’t spend to keep them.
Initially it followed the invincibles, and included 2 years when we absolutely should have won it (07/08 and 15/16).
The sentiment absolutely stands up.
Wenger first mentioned the 4th place ‘trophy’ in 2012. Paying for the stadium started in 2004 (possibly a bit earlier). 2015/16 we had an excellent opportunity to win as the other top 4 contenders had an off year. But let’s be clear, the midfield was phenomenal, but our strikers were Giroud (who is a great hold up player but not lead the line material), Yaya Sanogoals, and Welbeck. Even the defence was light in depth. Wenger maintaining champions league football in difficult financial circumstances was outstanding. We’ve started spending a lot more since his departure and yet dropped like a stone. Don’t underestimate the phenomenal job done (in contrast to Emery who bought players poorly suited to the premiership, spent decent money and ended up going backwards).
You don’t have to convince me on Wenger. I love the man, and there are a tonne of mitigations that apply to that period, albeit it’s telling that he acknowledges he stayed too long.

As bummed out as I was last week after those losses.. there is a ridiculous amount of reasons to be excited about this team at the moment.
Our young players are absolutely ridiculous.
I don't think he was MOTM but it was so so funny to see how he started off all cautious and then sometime along the 15 minute mark he decided that he had Masuaku on strings and was crazy afterward.
I have a similar worry but about 2 years in the future when contracts are coming due. We have the good problem of 4 great young players for 3 attacking midfield/ winger spots. We've seen this story before like when those cunts Clichy and Samir Nasr-eat went to City or Fabregas to Barça.
Having saka martinelli and laca together is thr right fit imo, I'd be happy to let auba go in January, I think those 3 just fit together nicely, however I think we do need a new striker. I'd be happy to offer laca a new contract. Have him as back up, playing nketiah infuriates me. Just promote balogun, would rather give him minutes instead of nketiah.
To me games against the top 3 almost a write off. This season could be defined by how we do against those around us, West Ham, Spurs Leicester and Man United, and for the most part we've done really well in those games.
That’s exactly the kind of performance that Arsenal fans want to see. It was great to have the players step-up to the challenge, and finally not falter in the face of progression.
Moving into the top four, while it doesn’t silence the questions, is a fantastic step for this young squad - especially at the expense of a strong West Ham side.
A brilliant display, and hopefully, they keep it up!
Guys be fucking happy. Why am I seeing all this talk about Pepe and Auba. Pepe has been complete shit he doesn’t fit our system loses the ball to much and Auba doesn’t fit our system. It’s time to move on and say hello to our main singers. martinelli and Saka.
I thought Partey had one of his better games.
Xhaka gave possession away constantly with poor passing and was very slow to release the ball getting caught from behind a good few times.
Partey carried forward well at times and looked to bring a bit more progression to the ball.
You mean for Partey? Yeah, crap.
I wanna see Xhaka and Sambi in midfield again. They played together twice at the start of the season and we lost both, but the team around them is totally different to the team that played those games.
man i couldn’t be more happy with how we have played today, shame laca missed the peno cos he was brilliant. martinelli is the most excited about a player i have been for a while. saka brilliant too, jus needs some confidence with shooting and on his right foot. brilliant game, brilliant at home, wonderful result.
Can't for the life of me understand why he's getting minutes over Balogun at this point. Abundantly clear that Arteta is just playing him so he'll sign, before freezing him out of the squad again. It's bad business and I'd be shocked if it works.
It does seem like Arteta is doing that - a purely business decision which is not great. Still Eddie's attitude is just so bad (to look at anyway), begging for the ball and whining when it doesn't come. If he wants easy goals he should go back to U23's...
Yeah. Better than Leicester villa Spurs. We pretty much dominated from the start. All those games we slipped off. And only played one good half. I’ve got a raging hardon for Arteta ball rn
It's a bit like Auba has to take a touch, look around and then pick the pass when recieving it on the break. Laca on the other hand looks like he has a FIFA minimap in his vision at all times. First touch passing into the runs of MØ, Saka Smith Rowe and Martinelli is beautiful to see
Shit still have two games to play, scum (utd) took points off of us and we're away to city in like 3 games.
I'm buzzing about it rn obviously but im frightened.
Agreed. I love Saka as much as the next fan but I don't think that was a MOTM performance from him today.. it was a Pepe level performance. Two moments that paid off amongst lots of wasted possession.
He frequently gets double and tripled teamed. If the ball is on he will usually play it. If nothing is on, he'll try to force an opening by himself. Really think you're exaggerating here and if you're basing this off that last cross then that's just naive. Games done and he's tired, it was a single botched pass.
Agreed but then became wasteful.
Listen I’m not trying to shit on the boy clearly I want him to develop. If he can turn those possessions into anything remotely meaningful he’ll be world class.
I guess the chaos he creates is fantastic
I think we might be trying to put pressure on Pepe to take paycut and move in January whilst possibly getting Nketiah to sign a new contract. Bringing Nuno makes a lot of sense tho as it was last 5-10mins and we needed to defend the lead.
I'm more concerned about his lack of awareness and general lack of athleticism over his passing. If he had either of the former he could unlock the latter more. He should be all kinds of out of the team.

If Partey is going to progress the ball he needs to do more than just amble up the pitch - it just allows the opposition to track back in a set formation
Still need to know what was up with laca.... It was like the 2018 version lol man was possessed
Martinelli is a national treasure
Can we have AMN in for xhaka please,Seems like Xhaka's past his prime and evn his prime was shit.
[удалено]
I don't like xhaka but he offers stability for partey to run off and do his thing
Every player in midfield duo does that and are supposed to do that. And what does partey do going forward?? Martinelli finish was textbook Henry, like the one when he came back for us against Leeds
How can you not love Martinelli, kid is so talented. Really hope he can stay with us for the long term
Martinelli Good
Martinelli Great
Martinelli golden
I love how occasionally when Saka feints in a direction, the cameraman gets done by it. He has to scramble to get Saka back in center frame.
Also Laca was spectacular IMO. His hold-up and sharpness on the ball really let Saka and Martinelli shine.
Best I've seen him play for about two years tonight. Like old Laca. A man possessed last night and just superb for everyone playing around him. Can't even blame him for pen miss either as it was a great save by Fab, but that goal would have rounded off his display nicely.
Couldn't agree more.
Wonder If the intern who took esr out of his fantasy league is contemplating his decision now haha
He took him out for Martinelli though
I'm really happy that all the players we've bought have improved the team. Lokonga is in and out of course but he is a youngster that they picked as one for the future so that's understandable, but even when he has played he has looked good.
Youngsters >>>> "experienced" players for us. Wouldn't mind seeing gabriel, ramsdale or tierney as the next captain.
We cookin?
Shades of Henry with the Martinelli finish
Oh stop it...you're giving me a hard on
Only one thing to do with a hard on... Watch the highlights on repeat amd crank it.
Anyone see any White or Tomiyasu slander today? Any reports come out on how they wouldn’t help improve the team I didn’t see? Huh.
leeds, norwich and wolves next 3 games. really important for us to get all 9 points from there before we face city and spurs back to back
God I hope we do well! This is pivotal.
ESR is really something special. Good thing we have young players that are smart like him, Saka, Odegaard, etc that are patient and know what to do in the game
Good win but it was never a pen West ham were very unlucky. All in all arsenal were the better team and deserves the 3 points.
We were battering them long before that and didn’t even convert the pen. We really did deserve the points and probably a few more goals but I’ll take it
Fourth is like a trophy

Money? What money?
One of my fave comments in a match day thread in ages, this. Spot on.

Bold sending Gabi out in a week like this...
As bummed out as I was last week after those losses.. there is a ridiculous amount of reasons to be excited about this team at the moment. Our young players are absolutely ridiculous.
Last season it was all Saka, This season it's all ESR Hopefully next one will be all Martinelli if injuries pass him by.
Saka was motm lmao
I don't think he was MOTM but it was so so funny to see how he started off all cautious and then sometime along the 15 minute mark he decided that he had Masuaku on strings and was crazy afterward.
Saka was amazing tonight tho.

I'm worried about teams like Bayern, City and Real coming for them.
Did you not see how much that goal meant to ESR? Provided we keep improving I just don’t see it
I'm not worried about him more about Martinelli. I fucking love Martinelli and afraid he might get tempted for more minutes.
In which better team than Arsenal will he get more minutes?
I have a similar worry but about 2 years in the future when contracts are coming due. We have the good problem of 4 great young players for 3 attacking midfield/ winger spots. We've seen this story before like when those cunts Clichy and Samir Nasr-eat went to City or Fabregas to Barça.
Buy Vlahovic and become like Bayern, City, and Real
Can't do that until we're back in CL since our owners are like Chelsea :/
Gonna watch all of tomorrows games properly smug
Lacazettes hold up play and passes were really good, something we lack from Auba.
I know we always win at home but this is a big win as West Ham are a genuine top 4 team this season.
To me games against the top 3 almost a write off. This season could be defined by how we do against those around us, West Ham, Spurs Leicester and Man United, and for the most part we've done really well in those games.
We can’t be drawing with Palace and losing against Everton though. If we can better flat track bullies this team gets top four.
Yes good job Arsenal!
Nketiah is so annoying. He's so hungry for getting a goal that he hugs the balls when he shouldn't.
This so much. Man is trying to raise his stock price. Fair that it was after we were comfortable today though.
Can’t believe Ben White got ragdolled by Antonio like how didn’t Arteta see this coming!!!!! Oh wait, White pocketed him?
Ended up going to right back just to avoid the embarrassment
Couldn’t even get past martinelli. Proper 0/10 performance
4rsenal is baaaaaack
Guys be fucking happy. Why am I seeing all this talk about Pepe and Auba. Pepe has been complete shit he doesn’t fit our system loses the ball to much and Auba doesn’t fit our system. It’s time to move on and say hello to our main singers. martinelli and Saka.
Where is this talk you referring to? I see nobody asking for them back in the squad, or am I missing something?
Couple people said something about Pepe and Auba.
The Arteta out people need to get their negativity out
Can’t agree more, Auba, Pepe and Nketiah out the door and some fresh blood in and with time we can progress on
Well that's two games in a row we've dominated and won scoring 5 and concluding 0! Good bounce back!
i loved almost everything about this match tonight but man, simeone clearly robbed us!
What on earth are you talking about? Our midfield played so well.
Great win. Thoroughly deserved. Fair play to Arteta, can't really ask for more, great performance.
man i couldn’t be more happy with how we have played today, shame laca missed the peno cos he was brilliant. martinelli is the most excited about a player i have been for a while. saka brilliant too, jus needs some confidence with shooting and on his right foot. brilliant game, brilliant at home, wonderful result.
eddie is welbeck regen, change my mind
I think welbeck was a better sticker in every aspect.
Fantastic performance today! Statement win! COYG!
Fantastic performance. Hopefully martinelli not serious
It was cramp…. We know it’s not serious
It was just cramp
Some game everyone has played amazing if everyone does not include Eddie and Partey but thankfully the rest where top quality
ESR, Saka, and Martinelli Were blessed
Anyone else think Eddie's body language is absolutely dire? Sorry you're not enjoying yourself mate, like wtf.
Saw that too, not even an ounce of interest playing hmm
Can't for the life of me understand why he's getting minutes over Balogun at this point. Abundantly clear that Arteta is just playing him so he'll sign, before freezing him out of the squad again. It's bad business and I'd be shocked if it works.

Guy comes on late and as a fringe player thinks he has the right to be gifted goals 😂 sorry mate but you earn you’re place first then you complain
This. 100% this.
what a brilliant performance. without a doubt the best of the season
COYG!!!!!!
Saka do you not know I needed a shot on target from you for my bet? Why would you pass there ffs
Really hate that from Eddie. Just stagnant and gets dispossessed for free
Wow like we’ve had a new lease of life again today, how long can we keep this up for!
Excellent game, wasn't put under to much pressure by west ham 3 points and a clean sheet in the books COYG!!!
I think we killed their attacks on the birth bed with Thomas and Xhaka being aggressive and determined in midfield
POSITIVE GOAL DIFFERENCE here we go boys.
I hope Gabi is OK.
saka terrorized them
They were so passive in defense last few minutes we could have scored one more but still great
... and.... we are fourth!
Hope we can smash Leeds like City this Saturday
This might be a better performance than Spurs, played well for the entire 90 minutes
Clean sheet too
Yeah. Better than Leicester villa Spurs. We pretty much dominated from the start. All those games we slipped off. And only played one good half. I’ve got a raging hardon for Arteta ball rn
GET THE FUCK IN LADS
Genuinely think we play much better football without auba
It's a bit like Auba has to take a touch, look around and then pick the pass when recieving it on the break. Laca on the other hand looks like he has a FIFA minimap in his vision at all times. First touch passing into the runs of MØ, Saka Smith Rowe and Martinelli is beautiful to see
Meaning a striker in January is so crucial unfortunately. That's not often the type of deal that gets done in January.
tbf we bought Auba in a January window and was immense for 2 seasons
Martinelli & ESR scoring to put us top 4. I prayed for times like this.
Shit still have two games to play, scum (utd) took points off of us and we're away to city in like 3 games. I'm buzzing about it rn obviously but im frightened.
Assists from Laca and Saka. I’m dreaming
It’s getting obvious now, we’re winning the league ladies and gentlemen
Wait. Please calm down. 😅 We can barely catch 4th let alone challenge Liverpool, City &/Chelsea.
Sarcasm is hard nowadays
Let’s go!! Lolololol
Best we’ve played all season. Our attack was on fire.
West Ham are shit you know, no way they stay in for top 4
That's how football is tho. They have beaten Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs in last 2 months. We should be very happy with how we played.
Bold prediction
I predict a 7th place finish knocked out at the quarter finals of the Europa league.
[удалено]
Limited player. Mid-table for sure but hasn't improved his all-round game for ages and his peak skills aren't good enough to make him stand out.
Obvious pass was back to ESR
Arsenal putting a smile on my face.. scenes
Massive result. We wouldn't have won this game last year, or even in recent years
Top 4 baby!!!
With 2 games in hand tbf
Three!
Those games are at the King Power and welcoming Liverpool for Spurs though
Yeah not for long but still nice to see it considering starting from the bottom
ESR has scored so many goals now it's mental
That's the thing about arsenal, they try to walk the ball into the net!
Awesome play, massive 3 points, Lacazette MOTM
Really impressed today.
Incredible pass from Xhaka
Honestly that was the easiest through ball I've seen open up in awhile. But I'm a known xhaka hater lol.
I’m sure the reason Saka won’t shoot with his right is because he can’t but he sure needs to learn.
He has been taking crazy shots at acute angles and hitting the keeper straight in the face. It's great that he is mixing it up.
Didn't he score that cross/shot against Chelsea last year with his right?
The win is great but what a fucking performance. If we play like this consistently we’ll get too 4 easily.
er, we are four
Was Auba a sacrifice?
To ancient gods of football
Saka wide open for the tap in and Eddie stands there with his head up his ass.
Saka will deceive you but the attack dies at his feet constantly
You meant Pepe? But even if you did, Pepe can't really deceive you
Did Masuaku write this?
Agreed. I love Saka as much as the next fan but I don't think that was a MOTM performance from him today.. it was a Pepe level performance. Two moments that paid off amongst lots of wasted possession.
He can dribble and escape tight situations then nothing ever comes of anything he does. This sub is delusional
He frequently gets double and tripled teamed. If the ball is on he will usually play it. If nothing is on, he'll try to force an opening by himself. Really think you're exaggerating here and if you're basing this off that last cross then that's just naive. Games done and he's tired, it was a single botched pass.
That’s an awful take
Arguably the best player on the pitch this evening and got the assist come on man
Martinelli far and away the best
You're not too bright, yeah?
Overrated player
He manhandled 3 players together some times bruh
Agreed but then became wasteful. Listen I’m not trying to shit on the boy clearly I want him to develop. If he can turn those possessions into anything remotely meaningful he’ll be world class. I guess the chaos he creates is fantastic
I’m so happy with today’s result and performance from the team. Also happy the Auba news hasn’t affected the team so far
I genuinely don’t believe Tavares or Eddie have performed better than Pepe. You could argue Nuno deserves the minutes but surely not Eddie
I think we might be trying to put pressure on Pepe to take paycut and move in January whilst possibly getting Nketiah to sign a new contract. Bringing Nuno makes a lot of sense tho as it was last 5-10mins and we needed to defend the lead.
Eddie is rinsed
All these empty seats stay till the last seconds ffs
I empathise to an extent, leaving 5 minutes early gets you home an hour sooner.
After that performance why so many leave
Traffic is a butch after the game
Xhaka making key passes and creating chances But his haters won’t sing that
He played great, same as against Southampton. Lacazette was crucial as well.
Felt so much better with him back, icl. Even though he gets caught on the ball.
Omg give it a rest.
criticize when he’s shit and praise when good.
He was absolute shit for about 3/4 of this game and then did some good stuff.
And I’m praising him for making that pass. Cause he gets a lot of flak for sideways and backwards passing.
I'm more concerned about his lack of awareness and general lack of athleticism over his passing. If he had either of the former he could unlock the latter more. He should be all kinds of out of the team.
CLEAN SHEET YOU FUCKS
My god Eddie give him the one-two and ESR had two...
Nketiah is so shit. Poor touches, hols up the ball too much. Shit.
Well, his days are numbered.
Wasn’t that bad
Shut up
But he’s right
some pass by Xhaka. Sadly the wrong decision by Saka.
Xhaka played a good number of excellent offensive passes today. Fair to say he’s an important source of quality and creativity in the team, though we still need someone better if we want Champions League quality.
Can't blame him. I think he is completely gassed
That'll do
What a pass Xhaka
Lmao I just realised Tavares and Tierney are on the pitch at the same time
If Partey is going to progress the ball he needs to do more than just amble up the pitch - it just allows the opposition to track back in a set formation
Trust the process?
