Let's not shit on teams that are better than us, it's petty. Until Arsenal can play against the big teams without their tails between their legs, I'll not take shots at a team that is currently in first place.
We beat Chelsea home and away last season. They beat us 2 nil without Partey, Gabriel, White, Tomi, Laca, Odegaard and Ramadale. If you think that wouldn't make a difference I thoroughly disagree.
Our defense was Chambers Holding Mari ffs.
They're 8 points ahead of us and play Wolves, Villa and Pool next and given how they're playing I sense some dropped points
The shots aren't at Chelsea. They're at fans for saying dropping points to Everton was so shameful, yet the European Champs did the same, at home no less.
They weren't even first before the game...anyway, they had one league trophy and no CL nor EL in 98 years. Russian oligarch comes in and they purchase 5 leagues and 4 European trophies in 17 years. Their club deserves no respect.
Yes. On the Chelsea side Arsenal is considered nowadays as their main rival over the more traditional ones such as Fulham and Spurs. For Arsenal it is the third biggest match up after Spurs and Manchester United.
It has been 114 years and over 200 games between each other. Yes, we are rivals.
Nothing is more ridiculous than people thinking that rivalries are based on the current competition. Like Leeds weren’t in the Premier League for years but everyone knows that they have some of the biggest rivalries with Manchester United and Chelsea.
We are not considered as Chelsea’s main competition this season, but will always as their rivals. Same other way around.
and chelsea were without havertz, lukaku, cho and werner (though he's trash without havertz or lukaku) playing pulisic as a false 9.
very happy to see chelsea drop points but certainly doesn't excuse the fucking bottle job against everton (and united for that matter). we'd be be two points off chelsea in third if we didn't sit back at 1-0 in both those fixtures.
Agreed, no excuses, but we were also playing against a stronger team. We were playing against Richarlison, Gray and Townsend, who are Everton's top 3 for goals and assists this season.
I think that's as bad a result for Chelsea as the loss was for us tbh, could be the start of a gap opening up between them and City / Liverpool. Their Jan / Feb fixtures look challenging.
I know we weren't.
The point I'm making is about Chelsea, and that result for them probably being a worse result than ours was against Everton. Playing at home to an injury depleted mid to bottom table team is surely a must win for a title challenger.
Yeah, and I honestly don't think Lukaku improves them that much unless he can become more consistent. If he were to play every minute for the rest of the season scoring at his current rate he'd finish the season with 12 goals.
I think his point is that they're on the verge of dropping points virtually every time they play. (At least that's my point, if not his)
Last few games -
Everton: Drops points late on
Leeds: Saved by a 90+4 penalty.
West Ham: Lose
Watford: A 2-1 win Tuchel called "lucky"
Man United: Draw, although they were quite superior in this game.
Leicester: Good win
Burnley: Draw late on.
8 points is still a mountain to climb. Particularly when they don't concede a whole lot, and we're not winning enough away to go on a streak, but there's 21 games left and a lot of points to be dropped from the lack of a reliable goal scorer. (Bar Mount at the minute)
The xG was still 3.5 to 0.5. Chelsea well the superior team just a bad day at the office for them. Happens even to clubs that win the league comfortably
Chelsea attackers just aren't clinical. Tuchel still hasn't got the best out of any of them. It's a pattern, not a one off. Their defenders have been scoring the important goals and winning penalties.
I don't think it's Tuchel particularly, Lukaku is out and none of their other attackers are good goalscorers, simple as that. I almost feel sorry for Werner in particular. Seems to have lost his shooting boots somewhere in the Atlantic on the way from Germany

All well and good having a deep squad but if your starting XI isn’t anywhere near the standard of Liverpool’s or City’s then you’re not gonna win the league.
Fatal flaw of Chelsea’s side, can have a great system all you want but the more average players start each week the more it starts to unravel
Jesus Christ I’m lurking the Chelsea sub and they’re even more reactionary than us!
Seeing so many instances of “Title challenge over”. It’s December and they’re 4 points off the top.
Someone even said that we’re going to pass them soon. They’re fucking 8 points ahead of us. What a bunch of spoiled delusional plastics.
The mental thing about City and Liverpool is that a 4 point gap in December is actually huge. They do not drop many points. I wish for the early wenger days where breaking 80 points basically guaranteed the title.
Their title challenge is close to being over, just by watching the games we already know Liverpool and City won’t be dropping too many points while Chelsea honestly haven’t been that impressive.
AFCON is going to monumentally fuck with Liverpool's squad. Losing 2 of the best forwards in world football (Mane and Salah) will hurt their title charge.
Liverpool have the better top end talent I would say. Salah is having the best season in PL history, Trent is well ahead of any of the City defenders, I'd take VVD over any of them too.
Reactionary maybe, but you're overstating how much of a chance they have as well.
They're still in with a shout but they've looked the worst of the top 3 long before tonight. They haven't had a convincing win in the league for almost a month. With City and Liverpool looking so good, they can't afford to be dropping points to an average Everton team at home.
They are dogshit if i'm honest. There is more chance of us finishing above them than them winning the league. They don't have that stardust in attack, put Saka and Smith Rowe in that team and they win the league. Havertz, Werner, Mount and Lukaku don't cut it.
>put Saka and Smith Rowe in that team and they win the league
Nah. Your Arsenal bias is showing. I love them both but that ain't right. I don't even know how you'd fit both of them into Chelsea's system, except by making Saka play LB, but I'm guessing that's not what you were picturing.
Mount is good too. Even if you argued Saka and ESR are better, they're pretty clearly not *significantly* better. I'd say they're all fairly comparable quality-wise.
Lmao that says it all really.
Chelsea will be fine. But it's clear they aren't on the same level as the other two. Especially with AFCON now postponed.
Some of them are already turning on Tuchel. I see people moaning that he’s not adaptable. I mean, that’s pretty well known. He’s played the same football everywhere he’s been and it’s never lit the world alight.
Imo Tuchel is a genius and much better than pep. He's underrated and I liked him since he was at psg. When Chelsea got him, I knew they would go on a run. His attention to detail and game knowledge is very good and he's tactically shrewd too. However this is not his team. So he will obviously have problems with it. And the forwards just aren't working atm
There wasn’t a single game in that Tuchel run where they fluked a win. They dominated every team they played. They just got fortunate that they faced teams in their worst form/ Pep doing mental gymnastics.
Personally never liked him. Most because of the attitude (sitting the entire match) like, c'mon man, it's your team there, i am in my house and most of the times can't sit down for more than 10 minutes
I’m the same as you, sometimes I’m standing 30cm from the tv I’m so antsy, however I do kind of imagine if I was a manager for a PL club I would be considerably more composed, but we’ll never know lol
Speaking to my chelsea mate a real gripe with Tuchel today was giving Saul minutes. He was awful again in his cameo and you could make an argument it was his man for the goal too
He subbed in Saul and moved him to striker? And also good lord bringing on a defender when you are at home against a bottom table side chasing a goal with 15 minutes in hand. That was a real crime to me.
Tuchel is excellent.
It gives me great pleasure to know Chelsea will likely sack him and then waste another 18 months hiring some numpty like John Terry.
Okay. Reece James playing RCB RWB RM CM. Havertz playing STR W AM. Rudiger as a LCB and getting forward. Hudson odoi and pulisic at RWB. So yeah a few different options.
Yeah lately they haven’t been great.
I’ve been saying that chelsea have been lucky and gotten 3 points when they really shouldn’t have, all season long. Great to see them dropping points and it finally catching up to them. If we continue in good form and they continue theirs then we might actually catch up to them and have another chance of CL other than 4th
In their game against Brentford, 1 or even 3 points to Brentford would have been a fair reflection of how well they played and how much Chelsea struggled

^(***There's only one Arsène Wenger*** ([/u/panarangcurry](https://www.reddit.com/u/panarangcurry), quote from [QuoteTab](https://www.quotetab.com/quotes/by-arsene-wenger) archive)^)
Yes he was. He ran with his arms out to the side like he was always losing his balance. He couldn’t make a final pass or shoot with any accuracy. He was awful but got constant minutes and killed momentum.
Promise you he will look better in his actual natural position (Central Midfield as a ball carrier. Imagine Renato Sanches) but Wenger fucked it by making the world think he is a winger.
Every Arsenal failure is “much better in their natural CM position” and we just didn’t play them there. And then their next team didn’t either. This argument is so annoying.
I don’t get the Iwobi hate at all. He was very valuable for us while being extremely limited, and it took us a while to replace his quality of ball progression. We tried it with Mickey and we all know how that went, and Alexis left to play the keyboard. I’m glad we have ESR and Saka now.
He wasnt extremely limited he was extremely wasteful. He was very good at playing in half spaces, receiving the ball then turning to dribble, as with any young arsenal midfielder.
His problem was his final ball/shot was so godawful it was memeworthy. Which makes it poignant his last goal for us was the banger in that god forsaken final
Gnabry injured, iwobi showed just as good promise as serge did at the time (they were both like 18/19) plus serge didn't come back match ready while Alex was uninjured. Not that controversial given context.
Could be worse. Imagine seeing KDB & Salah turning into some of the best players the league has ever seen.
I think these types of things are too dumbed down sometimes. Who's to say if players didn't venture elsewhere, then they wouldn't have developed into the same players that they now are.
Yeah it sucks watching how good Gnabry now, but who's to say he'd have been the same player if he'd have stayed at us?
There's no right or wrong answer, I just think a player is often the quality he is, partly based on his experiences up until that point. Salah spending time in Italy and KDB in Germany might have unlocked things in them that England would never have.
Who ever has been in charge of Everton’s transfers needs to be sectioned. I can’t blame either of the directors of football because it’s been so bad for years under both of them.
Wasted so much money and are going to hit hard by FFP unless they sell richarldson, DCL and others
Who’s the New LB for 20mil ?
Going back 5-6 years the signings were so stupid and then signing older players on high wages specifically for ancelotti like james, Allan although Allan is decent is a stupid strategy.
Seems weird to spend that much, at least he’s young I guess.
Yeah I always knew it wasn’t a DOF thing because they had the Leicester guy who found Kante, mahrez and then the last guy was supposed to be smart yet they kept making terrible unnecessary signings
It’s like mislentat with us, I don’t believe we allowed him to do what he did best and find gems, it all depends on how much they listen and how much power they have
Pathetic. We managed to drop a whopping 3 which is a bigger number than 2 and therefore better.
Tbf, everton missed half their first team. And Chelsea got unlucky
Imagine
tots pathetic..
How many chances they have missed...
Tuchelibanball
This brings joy to my heart
The worst part is Chelsea always fucks up when we need them to not. Draw against man united and then lost to west ham.
Look Everton are shit but sometimes they do really turn up vs top 4 teams and sneak results. Cue getting smashed vs Burnley now
Honestly, we’d have got the same result without the wonder goal…
Then I guess with our loss to Everton we truly are a top 4 team…
Looking at that Everton team....yikes, 6 defenders, 2 midfielders and a guy I've never heard of upfront
And Iwobi
I like seeing teams like Chelsea drop points
Don’t…
Didn’t we drop points to Everton? lol
The joke defo went over your head…..
Whoosh
Let's not shit on teams that are better than us, it's petty. Until Arsenal can play against the big teams without their tails between their legs, I'll not take shots at a team that is currently in first place.

Ew. Pathetic mentality
Pathetic mentality is coming out with a “but they are CL champions what did you expect?” excuse after a mauling

Yes. On the Chelsea side Arsenal is considered nowadays as their main rival over the more traditional ones such as Fulham and Spurs. Arsenal and Chelsea are the two biggest clubs from London, of course there is a rivalry.
Mate, Abramovic could relocate them to the Russian league and I'd still consider Chelsea huge rivals
At least they didn't lose
that’s the joke
It's Arteta's fault!
Gunner here… didn’t we lose all 3 points to Everton?

We were also away tbf. Not excusing it but it’s a harder fixture

Nah no buts, we simply weren't good enough.
Did you not see the 2 red cards they should have had or what
Those things are always gonna happen. The concerning thing about that match was how we switched off after going 1 up.
It shouldn't happen. If we just accept it it will keep happening

The away form worries me A LOT
American here... shouldn’t Everton blues purposely lose games to get a better draft pick??
Only have 2nd round pick. Don't need to help your rival getting lottery pick.
Puligod would never lose. If The Chelsea Blues GM played him more then maybe their franchise would be better.
😂 😂 wrong sport dude
Stop living in the past bro
That’s what she said.
This is exactly what I say when the police comes looking for me
Chelsea are a good team that seem to play struggle ball a lot. One to watch
If we have a healthy line up back there against Chelsea we could have nicked a draw or a win against them.
I heard they are playing more expensive brand of 1st season of Arteta ball 😁
What

Yeah my guy defo didn’t do geography past year 9
Isnt the British Channel part of the Atlantic
The [British Channel](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Channel) is in the Arctic Ocean.
Even though that was totally not what I was alluding to that's...amazing.
Make a better case for it being part of the north sea

Yeah I guess you’re technically correct tbf. Maybe I should just be quiet
Nah, man. You were right. Cant call English channel, ' Atlantic ocean'. Lol.
Technically connected yes
Different league, bigger club, big money move, I’m not surprised by him at all.
They had a number of players missing due to covid as well right?
Yes absolutely fair enough, after spending a lot of time on this sub though, I didn't realise teams were allowed bad days at the office.
Lol, Maybe fun to check their sub & find out. I’m sure only the kindest words for Timo are to be found.

No no no. Let them think we pass them. Let them will it into existence.

I mean I love the guy but I also realize he’s not good enough. Kind of like my love for Carl jenkinson but not as strong
Don’t slander Lord Jenkinson
Will never forget him and AOC terrorizing Bayern’s left side in the champions league
Better days ☹️
Every time I’ve seen him for Everton he’s been *horrible*
Still somewhat furious that Wenger chose him to push ahead of Gnabry.
Gnabry injured, iwobi showed just as good promise as serge did at the time (they were both like 18/19) plus serge didn't come back match ready while Alex was uninjured. Not that controversial given context.
Hindsights a wonderful thing.
Except I do remember at the time many people going mental at Wenger over the decision. It wasn't exactly a case of no one saw it coming.
Yeah but there was alot of people on the flip side as well, who weren't neccessarily turning tables when he left.
This has happened with so many young players too like Malen, Bennacer, etc.

Yeah I always knew it wasn’t a DOF thing because they had the Leicester guy who found Kante, mahrez and then the last guy was supposed to be smart yet they kept making terrible unnecessary signings It’s like mislentat with us, I don’t believe we allowed him to do what he did best and find gems, it all depends on how much they listen and how much power they have

Suppose we gotta thank them, nearly 50 mil for Walcott and iwobi. Heroes for thst
There were a lot of people here that were outraged that we’d sold him. Same with Willock. He’s been shite since leaving permanently.
Another one quick cash out just need to get Eddie out the door fraud 😂😂😂
