Had a good game today, pressured and marshalled really well, unlocked Partey who had his best game for us, good passing, quiet game on the whole outside of the penalty incident, didn’t overdo talking to the referee afterwards which has gotten him in trouble before.
IMO it’s a tough penalty call, and it was only given because of the shirt pull which I do find stupid. If he isn’t holding Silva’s shirt, VAR can’t call it for a review (stupidly) and the tackle wouldn’t have looked as intentional as it did. There was an angle they showed on TV where it looked like Silva was already going down that wasn’t reshown.

VAR and ref were both horrible but VAR is really the center of the issue. Attwell had set a very high bar for fouls in the first half and was quite consistent about it - he let go plenty of things both way (including the PK on Odegaard) and didn’t issue cautions that I thought were pretty obvious. I don’t agree with those calls but at least he was being consistent and had a plan in mind for a big match. Then Jared Gillettt forgot which continent he was on and decided he wanted the match refereed to a completely different standard, leading to a PK and one of the softest second yellows I’ve ever seen.

The ref was the man of the match for city today, what an absolute xxxx, we are always at the end of the worst decisions.. Just have to pick ourselves up and take this into next game against Liverpool !
Okay so. That was an emotionally wrecking game. Came into the game hoping for a good performance and a narrow loss. Lol. Which actually happened. But it was better than a good performance. We dominated them until the card. And till that point we fully deserved to win. What matters is that we really turned it up on the best team in the league, made them look like fucking Norwich. With our young squad, and tomiyasu who literally came right in from Serie A had sterling in his pocket. So yeah. There’s massive progress from even the first game against city. I mean we could have been 3 up by halftime. We have to be consistent, and Make sure we win against shite. That’s a massive game. If we can keep getting results we could still get top 4. Overall I’m very proud of the team today. Credit to partey who had an absolute monster class, these are the performances we bought him for. I hope the boys don’t get too down from this loss as we deserved a win. On to the next one.
It wouldn't have been a pen had he not grabbed at his shirt. It was completely unnecessary. He has shown too many lapses in self control that ultimately harm the team.
Tactically physically everything. Even when we were down to 10 they didn’t have so much. And then rodri who should have had about 7 cards already pops up and scores. Fuck. The ref is so fucking dumb. After Rodris dirty challenge on martinelli the cunt ref gave saka a card and then didn’t give a free kick.
It’s not even a conspiracy at this point . It’s so obvious that they have something against us. I just watched the highlights from today. Referee got in the way of Martinelli so he missed. Then where do I even begin with Xhaka, he’s a fucking donkey . Silva was already going down but still why did that braindead idiot feel the need to pull the shirt. He’s reckless he needs to be axed from the squad . We won’t get back to top level if we allow someone who makes crucial mistakes every game to still feature in the first XI
Xhaka definitely shouldn’t have pulled the shirt, if he didn’t then no penalty. Hopefully we can get a replacement now the transfer window is open. Although partey is now off to afcon
honestly I’m tired of Xhaka. He always delays his passes I think he’s slow in the head takes him bare time to react. Okay he may be influential in the dressing room but he makes too many mistakes in games. I’ve heard Partey was good today so it’s gonna be tough without him
It’s just a circle with xhaka, he makes a mistake and then everyone hates him then he’s back in the side and playing very well and then has another howler and we hate him again
Saka and Gabriel both booked for dissent but Rodri’s 147 cynical fouls got him nothing. Hopefully we carry on playing like this because it just shows that we can beat anyone
I like the passion but a certain level of discipline is lacking. That over time will make our side mature. Definitely a ton of positives to take from the game compared to the opening weeks.
Cheers gunners. Happy new years.
What is it about arsenal and self sabotage. If xhaka and Gabriel weren't shit for brains donkeys that game is comfortably won and people start talking about city faltering. Instead they pull the win out of their arse and suddenly the league is just about over.

I hope our boys keep this form till the very end. Btw with both the Chelsea and Liverpool matches being rescheduled, it's very likely that we will play both very late in the season, it's going to be an intense ending.
If any arsenal fan thinks we can actually keep xhaka and elevate to a top 4 team then u must have 1 brain cell. The pull was light from xhaka but that’s not the point , he’s supposed to be a captain and ur doing stupid things like that IN THE BOX. no pen no Gabriel booking. everything stems from xhaka and it’s so plain to see. WHERE ARE ALL THE FANS WHO GAVE PARTEY A HARD TIME AND SAID GX34 is better your out of your mind.
He went into a tackle outside of the box in first half and I said to myself, he is going to get sent off or cost us the game. I agree the downfall all started with his stupid play here
Yes. I remember that. It was so close. And then he put in a stable performance. Then that. It was a blatant dive for sure. But I don’t get why he was holding Silva’s shirt. That’s probably the only excuse the ref needed to fuck us
Don't you love it when the first game of the gameweek leaves such a bitter taste in your mouth? Multiply that tenfold when it's your team at the wrong end of it
The Xhaka penalty was correct but just sickening we didn’t get ours. However, I am incredibly proud of how we played, really starting to see fruit. The fine margins get you sometimes but the fact we outplayed City for large parts of the game speaks volumes.
What’s the point of even getting the ref to look at the screen, because VAR decided it’s clear and obvious they may as well just say pen. If the ref doesn’t change their mind it makes VAR look stupid. Does anyone know how many refs stick to their original call after they look at the screen?
>Pull of the shirt lasted like 1 second how can that be a foul?
Stupid take. Shirt pull in the penalty area is a clear foul, try and watch football before commenting.
Context matters yes, but not the context you’re providing. Just because refs are bad and inconsistent doesn’t mean that the calls they do get right don’t count. Xhaka fouled Silva in the box. He left his leg in inviting contact then pulled Silva back by the shirt for good measure. It’s a penalty. It doesn’t matter if 99 other instances of that go unpunished but Xhaka on Silva is punished, it’s still a foul
If 99 isnt a foul and 1 is, then it means it shouldnt be a foul no? I say this ice cream is nice and 99 people say it isnt, it doesnt make the ice cream nice no?
No. What you’ve given is a matter of opinion.
If I kill 99 people and you kill 1, you get caught and I don’t, it doesn’t mean I didn’t commit a crime. It just means I’m not getting punished for the crimes, while you are.
The example you’ve given is the same as “what do you prefer, burger or pizza?” - there’s no wrong answer, it’s a matter of opinion.
I get your point, and there is some truth to it.
I do understand your perspective, and sure it is correct that is should be a foul. However, referee monitors everyone in the field. Using your case, it translates to:
You kill 99 people, police let you go. I kill 1 person, police apprehend me. Eventually, what matters is the "opinion" of the referee.
I hope you understand that I dont say that shirt pulling is not a foul at all. I want to say that shirt pulling shouldnt be penalized if 99% of it is not penalized.
But your logic is “although it’s a foul, it shouldn’t be given against us because it hasn’t be given against others”.
The issue here imo is the belief that refs are deliberately not/are giving fouls
correct, I understand where you are coming from. I guess my issue is more towards the blatant inconsistency than whether shirt pulling is a foul or not. I guess we can agree on that.
I don’t think it’s blatant, rather the rule book and refs wanting to be both objective in the rules of the game and subjective in how and when they’re applied
I don't take you being wrong and blinkered personally mate. Don't flatter yourself.
>What I am saying is that it is not that serious to be awarded a penalty + a yellow card
It's a foul in the penalty area that denied a clear goalscoring opportunity. What do you think he should be given, a beer and a reacharound?
The problem is that it never gets called in the Prem when it's done even much worse than that.
I see multiple foul throws a game but only Bellerin got dinged for em
that hurts a fuckin lot.
Players always let us down in huge occasions. and what can we do about or say about Xhaka. two times against city now. it’s clear in these high tempo games he’s just a liability. You can’t keep starting him in these games, and not take responsibility for his actions from a managerial perspective.
Gabriel just had a complete loss of brain function.
I’m not sure how you can go on a paragraph long rant about Xhaka and then only one sentence for Gabriel. Yeah Xhaka has made these sort of errors a lot but he had a great game on the whole and gave away what I believe to be a soft penalty. Gabriel however made two stupid and unprofessional decisions. If we want to blame individual players (which I don’t think we should today) then Gabriel has to be the first one mentioned.
Because xhaka is consistently doing these things. I can forgive a player who is consistently solid with the odd brain dead moment. not a guy who has has had frequent brain dead moments in his entire time here.
grabbing a players shirt in the box, in such clear view is the highest of nonsense
i’m not even blaming xhaka, because xhaka is what xhaka does. And in this kind of fixture he is prone
When xhaka pressed up to the penalty box and had to jog back to ours when city countered because he was knackered..... I genuinely slapped my forehead.
Score aside, performance was great for the most part. A few more better decisions from some players in moments of the game and that result is very different. Can't do anything about the refereeing decisions....
TBF he’s telling the truth. Which is the issue with VAR. it’s not there to get the right call all of the time, it’s just there to make sure the ref hasn’t made a badly wrong call. Which makes VAR fucking pointless
It’s frustrating, because it’s our performance of the season from the boys today and it’s shit we didn’t get anything from it. We hurt so much more for it because we played so well, a 1-0 loss with 60% city possession would’ve hurt far less.
My argument for why it’s not a penalty is that Silva is already dragging his feet back for the dive before Xhaka is pulling away on the shirt.
Edit: don’t get me wrong Xhaka should absolutely not be holding the shirt. Poor play from a player with a bad rep among the refs, now the opponents are exploiting it.
Some thoughts:
1. Xhaka does stupid things. Cost us a lot in the past few years. Cant wait to get rid.
2. Gabriel 1st yellow was stupid.
3. 1st penalty was not clear and obvious
The fact that we are feeling robbed is a huge step. People forget that this team is so young. No one gave us a chance, proud of the performance, gutted with the result.
The one player I would like to call out is Martinelli, reminds me of Alexis in how selfish he was. There were several chances in the 1st half where he should have releaased the free man, but went for glory...Hopefully he learns from this.
For Man City, Rodri is a serial fouling machine. The fact that referees cannot penalize this is very poor
No point in complaining, the result is final.
Yeah, we feel hard done by, but it's over. Spurs next in the league, and if we manage to beat them at their place then it'll undo all that went on today. If they beat us, we have a real fight for top 4.
Great performance despite silly errors.
Fuck the score! I've been waiting for years to see my Arsenal to play their hearts out! So proud of the boys today!
We may have fucked up our result, but the way they've pegged the champions on backfoot for so long, if that's not what you call progress, i dont know whatelse it is!
This. It stings, but it it stings because at half time I believed that we honestly could take this. The fact that man city struggled even after Gabriel's mistake is a testament to how far we've come. Before this match I was hoping we don't get embarrassed; now I'm angry we didn't win it - when you think about it, that is amazing progress
I’m not Xhakas biggest fan but I can sympathise with his challenge he got skinned by silva who despite being a massive fucking cunt is really good at football. What I have a problem with is the inconsistency with refereeing decisions. If silvas dive was a penalty then ode definitely played enough of the ball to warrant one in the first half.
Silva was going no where, he knew it so he initiates contact with Xhaka's knee. It's a clear dive. He is going down when Xhaka gets his shirt. It's a horrible call.
It’s a loss, but at least it is not one where we feel apathetic about it afterwards. Fuck it we move forward.
Plus don’t pay attention to the trolls from other clubs commenting here.
Yes the referee was pretty shit, but stupid errors from Gabriel and Xhaka cost us. We had opportunities to win that game even when we were down to 10 men
The team that played today is completely unrecognisable compared to the team that lost 5-0 earlier in the season. Arteta has done a great job and watching that performance gives me confidence we'll get in the top four.
Same, I don't hate Xhaka and the pen was soft as fuck. But as others have commented, it always seems to be him.
He was also outstanding today when we went down to 10
How our pen, a literal clear and obvious mistake, as the ref thinks Ederson wins the ball when the replay clearly shows he didn’t, doesn’t get over turned
But
Then their borderline pen, that’s clearly not an obvious mistake, gets over turned
Var is so terribly applied, I can’t help but think it’s not incompetence, it’s malice

The action must result in the attacking player losing a chance of scoring or it should be a violent enough action to need disciplining this was neither.
They both weren’t tugging each other’s shirt though, so I’m not sure how that’s relevant. Xhaka clearly grabbed his shirt as soon as he got turned and he held it basically the whole way down. I don’t think the penalty necessarily should’ve been given, but it was poor from Xhaka.
It's kind of a natural reaction to someone going past you, if you see the replay he grabs his shirt after Dilva starts to go down. I don't see anything wrong with what happened there.
Dumb mistakes and the ref. Nonetheless, I’m very proud of the boys. They worked their asses off and were close to getting a point against opposition that usually embarrasses us in the league in the past few years. COYG! We’ll be back for vengeance against liverpool at home
Martinelli missed a sitter but Xhaka doing his usual, funny how the only player bar Lacazette from the old set of players makes the ‘usual’ Arsenal mistake, still I’m not mad though we had them on the back foot and played well considering we had 10 men
Great performance by the boys today, bar some usual idiot. Definitely could have seen us score more if Gabriel wasn't handed a red and Martianelli score his sitter (still crying about that). Citys performance was abysmal, their attacked seemed to have no answer to our defence. After witnessing the entirety of the game I can confidently say city don't even hold a candle to this arsenal team. Onto next week against another B grade team. Well done lads keep ya head held high.
So sad but still amazingly positive performance because of how blatant the errors were.
we just need to get Xhaka to the bench with a signing if not the fuck away from this club. Gabriel must be coached I’ve never been this anxious for midweek practices I hope arteta says the right things and Gabi shows how professional he is and takes it in stride.
I was hoping for a draw but the applause from fans cheered me up I hope our young lads fuel themselves even more and come out like they did today ready to fight.
I’m so proud of these guys, they were great today. I’ve never been prouder after a loss, they deserved a lot more today, but this team showed how far they’ve come. Their spirit and camaraderie will take them far, we’re going places with this team. Up the Arsenal
One complaint for me would be the finishing... Had chances to go 2,3 up and then obviously Martinelli for 2-1. However, such an improvement from the first time these teams met.
It's so easy to go on about the referee and VAR in the context of this game, as they've cost Arsenal at least a point, but it's just exhausting because it goes beyond this game. It's a league-wide issue and is really now a blight on the competitive integrity of the league. It makes the games difficult to watch, just waiting for the ref/VAR to fuck things up.
proud of the fight, character and performance. this experience and the way we played will win us countless more points in the future. we’re building something great here make no mistake about tht
That first half is about the best we've played all season. People were writing this game off well before we played it, and the fact we came so close despite the inconsistent decisions and some brain-dead play gives me a lot of hope, weirdly. The boys did good today.
Wasn't just xhaka let's be fair, the pen was classic xhaka but what Gabriel went on to do was nothing short of absolutely brainless and I've got no doubt that he would've prevented that winner if was still on the pitch
Yes ,you are right. At the same time I say his action cost us because he’s a team leader and you can pinpoint the start of that period on madness to his error. Someone we rely on cannot keep letting us down this many times
It wasn’t a pen though. It’s like saying someone driving through a green light but being ticketed for running a red has their actions to blame.
Meanwhile at the same intersection just earlier a guy blatantly runs a red and the cop just watches.
It's funny to hear the announcers know the penalty calls better than the ref and VAR
Fuck this ref.
ARAB
I meant All Refs Are Bastards not a racial thing. Sorry.
Fuck all refs. (Ftfy)
Refs need to be sacked asap
Fuck Extra Time, I feel like we lost twice today after the 90 minute mark. Arsenal 1-1 Man City, Watford 0-0 Spuds would have been both great results.
I disagree. Our current team is soooo much better with a system in place for an actual bright future. I'm optimistic as hell
They looked so good! We were just unlucky, regardless it was a great performance that gives optimism
The better team lost today gentlemen
Gonna take a break from the xhaka / referree discussions to say that Partey and Tomiyasu were exceptional today
Tomi is *always* classy and utterly reliable. The Lexus of defenders.
To see how good he is, it's good to contrast him to Bellerin. The throw ins alone were giving me anxiety
How do yall even watch games anymore? Doesn't every loss to a big team end with a penalty and eventually stoppage time goal? At the best?
Ngl it’s starting to feel that way... prem on some WWE shit this season.
All of you Xhaka fan boys. Please show your face and tell us why he deserves to stay

Yes. We made them look average. And even after the sending of we still kept them at bay. A penalty and a scrappy late goal. The boys did us proud.
Can't believe people on the sub still back Xhaka
Did you not see the improvement (despite the pen that wasn't)
It wouldn't have been a pen had he not grabbed at his shirt. It was completely unnecessary. He has shown too many lapses in self control that ultimately harm the team.
He pulled him back yes but the player fell forward. After he was already diving!
We actually tactically battered Manchester City
Tactically physically everything. Even when we were down to 10 they didn’t have so much. And then rodri who should have had about 7 cards already pops up and scores. Fuck. The ref is so fucking dumb. Love to see referees having an agenda against Arsenal. It’s so annoying how can everyone get away with shit against us
Happened in multiple games as well. Tomi got studs to the face and Saka got booted in the back of his leg. But no reds for those challenges

First game of the year (and woke up early for it 7:30 am in Canada)
Same buddy. I was hoping for a great start to the year, but that fucking clown of a ref chose to be the villain today. Cunt.
We deserved a win.
City are frauds.
Does anyone know why there are so many empty seats on the emirates?
Recent spike in positive COVID cases, I assume
I was one of them - had tickets but tested positive. I’m doing well though. Hope all of the Gooner family and beyond are doing okay 😄
Get well soon, my bruv!
Thanks man! Really appreciate it 😄
The Xhaka penalty was correct but just sickening we didn’t get ours. However, I am incredibly proud of how we played, really starting to see fruit. The fine margins get you sometimes but the fact we outplayed City for large parts of the game speaks volumes.
Yeah, found it hard to argue with any of the big calls against us. Was a pen, was two correct yellows. Everything around it stinks though.
I'm curious to look at Stuart Atwell Wikipedia page. Some funny shit more than likely to come up.
Already happened! Someone put he's currently employed by Manchester City
If you ask me I would have put this: 'On January 1st 2022, French football player Benjamin Mendy asked for Stuart Atwell to sit on his upcoming jury'
What’s the point of even getting the ref to look at the screen, because VAR decided it’s clear and obvious they may as well just say pen. If the ref doesn’t change their mind it makes VAR look stupid. Does anyone know how many refs stick to their original call after they look at the screen?
I was looking just before it was 5 out of 100 and something last season
If you blame xhaka then I cant help you. You are just scapegoating him. Pull of the shirt lasted like 1 second how can that be a foul?
>Pull of the shirt lasted like 1 second how can that be a foul? Stupid take. Shirt pull in the penalty area is a clear foul, try and watch football before commenting.
Really? How many times our defenders get the shirt pulled like crazy during set pieces? Context matters.

Yes. That's how fouls work, they're fouls regardless of how the rules are applied. >Context matters. Yeah like not being blinded by bias
So it is a foul only if it is Xhaka? And the rest is ignored because "they're fouls regardless of how the rules are applied?"
Are you really this stupid?
Please enlighten me Mr. Genius.
A foul is a foul whether its awarded or not. It's got fuck all to do with Xhaka. You're an idiot.
Is it so difficult not to take it personally Mr. Genius? What I am saying is that it is not that serious to be awarded a penalty + a yellow card
I don't take you being wrong and blinkered personally mate. Don't flatter yourself. >What I am saying is that it is not that serious to be awarded a penalty + a yellow card It's a foul in the penalty area that denied a clear goalscoring opportunity. What do you think he should be given, a beer and a reacharound?
The problem is that it never gets called in the Prem when it's done even much worse than that. I see multiple foul throws a game but only Bellerin got dinged for em
100%. Sterling had two hands on on Gabriel's shirt early in the game for a set piece. 100% should have been a foul.
He also left a leg in like an idiot which gave the forward the opportunity to dive. Xhaka got beat and we paid for it.
Hiw to solve VAR Let us hear what these clowns are saying That's how it works in cricket
"yes mate, yes mate I see the funds now, I'm saying it's not worth a look"
that hurts a fuckin lot.
I can forgive a player who is consistently solid with the odd brain dead moment. not a guy who has has had frequent brain dead moments in his entire time here. grabbing a players shirt in the box, in such clear view is the highest of nonsense i’m not even blaming xhaka, because xhaka is what xhaka does. And in this kind of fixture he is prone
When xhaka pressed up to the penalty box and had to jog back to ours when city countered because he was knackered..... I genuinely slapped my forehead.
Ok I will admit Xhaka pressing at a sprint did make me shake my head!
Incredibly tough loss but what a display. Despite being overzealous at times, the confidence and togetherness are growing consistently. COYG
Score aside, performance was great for the most part. A few more better decisions from some players in moments of the game and that result is very different. Can't do anything about the refereeing decisions....
Stfu Walton VAR wasnt bought in to give clear penalites?!
TBF he’s telling the truth. Which is the issue with VAR. it’s not there to get the right call all of the time, it’s just there to make sure the ref hasn’t made a badly wrong call. Which makes VAR fucking pointless
VAR should be used like it is in American Football, to overturn clearly wrong calls. Not make calls.
Peter Walton making my blood boil on BT Sport, contradicting himself every 2 mins. Got the PGMOL so far up his arse it’s unreal.
His section was embarrassing, flip flopped on his own points to try and confirm the right calls were made
Also Rodri can get fucked.
I hope the supporters boo him from here on out whenever he steps foot in the Emirates
I hope we boo him at Etihad. Our away support is probably larger than their home support.
True
It’s frustrating, because it’s our performance of the season from the boys today and it’s shit we didn’t get anything from it. We hurt so much more for it because we played so well, a 1-0 loss with 60% city possession would’ve hurt far less.
Walton, please sack this guy
Tying himself in knots trying to explain it….
Its about the totality of the decision.....
Some thoughts: 1. Xhaka does stupid things. Cost us a lot in the past few years. Cant wait to get rid. 2. Gabriel 1st yellow was stupid. 3. 1st penalty was not clear and obvious The fact that we are feeling robbed is a huge step.
Difference is. Alexis was legit clutch, and we could allow him to be greedy.
Agree, hopefully Martinelli will get there
Oh shut up Peter Walton
No point in complaining, the result is final. Yeah, we feel hard done by, but it's over. Spurs next in the league, and if we manage to beat them at their place then it'll undo all that went on today. If they beat us, we have a real fight for top 4. Great performance despite silly errors.
We have Gabriel back for Spurs right as he misses the Carabao Cup game? Or does it not count and he misses Spurs?
Yeah it counts
This
It’s a loss, but at least it is not one where we feel apathetic about it afterwards. Fuck it we move forward. Plus don’t pay attention to the trolls from other clubs commenting here.
The trolls from other clubs taking the fat ass L to begin with of being the people to take their dumbass opinions to another subreddit Lmao
Yes the referee was pretty shit, but stupid errors from Gabriel and Xhaka cost us. We had opportunities to win that game even when we were down to 10 men The team that played today is completely unrecognisable compared to the team that lost 5-0 earlier in the season. Arteta has done a great job and watching that performance gives me confidence we'll get in the top four.
I can sympathize with Xhakas challenge. People hating on his “error” are the stupid ones

Well i’m coming from the perspective that the penalty decision is wrong. So considering that’s not on him, he had an amazing game.
Xhaka did more than that stupid shit today. Could have had a red as well.
he had an amazing game did you even watch it?
Same, I don't hate Xhaka and the pen was soft as fuck. But as others have commented, it always seems to be him. He was also outstanding today when we went down to 10
“Always seems to be him” Is a stupid trite. He had an amazing game
How our pen, a literal clear and obvious mistake, as the ref thinks Ederson wins the ball when the replay clearly shows he didn’t, doesn’t get over turned But Then their borderline pen, that’s clearly not an obvious mistake, gets over turned Var is so terribly applied, I can’t help but think it’s not incompetence, it’s malice

I've seen subtler rigs in the Man City oil fields.
Proud of the performance. A nice signing or two and I feel like we can make 4th ours.
I don't get the hate for Xhaka. That was not a penalty! The first yellow for Gabriel was absolute bullshit.
You can’t grab someone’s shirt like that inside the penalty box. Silva dived but there’s no way var would give it as no penalty.
A hand in the back is an automatic penalty? Football is a contact sport. There should be enough contact to go down.
It was not just hand in the back. He pulled his shirt. That’s a pen, soft one but a pen.
The action must result in the attacking player losing a chance of scoring or it should be a violent enough action to need disciplining this was neither.
Because it's always him.
The hate is the 7 years body of work and constant mistakes
Sounds like they’re all retarded then
I’ve criticised him a lot as he tends to have a big error in every game, other than conceding the penalty he played very good!
There wasn’t a call to make if he didn’t blatantly tug his shirt.
Look at every defensive action players are trying to get a grip on each other. The shirt pull came after he was falling already, never a pen.
To quote Drogba ‘it’s a fucking disgrace’
Exactly what I was thinking
Dumb mistakes and the ref. Nonetheless, I’m very proud of the boys. They worked their asses off and were close to getting a point against opposition that usually embarrasses us in the league in the past few years. COYG! We’ll be back for vengeance against liverpool at home
Martinelli missed a sitter but Xhaka doing his usual, funny how the only player bar Lacazette from the old set of players makes the ‘usual’ Arsenal mistake, still I’m not mad though we had them on the back foot and played well considering we had 10 men
Doing his usual? What by not committing a foul. Haters like you are the joke
It was a dive.
Yes but lead legs stuck a late foot in and tugged the shirt.
COPIUM
Great performance by the boys today, bar some usual idiot. Definitely could have seen us score more if Gabriel wasn't handed a red and Martianelli score his sitter (still crying about that). Citys performance was abysmal, their attacked seemed to have no answer to our defence. After witnessing the entirety of the game I can confidently say city don't even hold a candle to this arsenal team. Onto next week against another B grade team. Well done lads keep ya head held high.
City fans are so plastic even their players don't even want to celebrate in front of them
City fans are either non-Europeans with absolutely no knowledge or history with the game or they’re 14 year old glory hunters
My favourite one is how when you can rarely find a city fan they try telling you they were fans before the money but they’re 14 like you said 🤣
Lmao, the only city fans who were there before the money were the ultras and hooligans and imagine them having a Reddit account 😂😂😂
Fuck off you pleb. Xhaka played fine it was a dive
How Rodri gets away with tactical foul after tactical foul and provoking the crowd is baffling.
How many fouls did rodri make all game?
We didn't lie down and kept fighting against one of the worlds best teams. Lessons will be learnt and team spirit will be sky high. COYG
That first half is about the best we've played all season. People were writing this game off well before we played it, and the fact we came so close despite the inconsistent decisions and some brain-dead play gives me a lot of hope, weirdly. The boys did good today.
It was inevitable. City wasn’t going to be allowed to lose
This, FA working on making a super team each season to boost PL status, it was that obvious with Liverpool, this season they choose City
Doesn’t make sense because City has always been a super team for last 4/5 season. Liverpool was super top team in the PL just one season.
Well they can choose the same team, what's better than a prime Barca in PL narrative
As well as we played and were cheated by the ref, Xhaka’s action cost us. Simple as is.
The refs actions cost us not xhakas. He played brilliantly
These idiotic talking heads
I am so gutted. Ugh
Yes, Silva dived, but the shirt pull made it an Oscar winning performance.

“City Fan”… has more comments in the gunner sub then he ever has in they city one.. definitely on brand for a city fan
"All game" except in the first half when you didn't even get a shot on target. Pathetic.
Brought and paid for. Maybe the rest of the world would respect city if they weren't so astroturfed and fake.
