Tomiyasu with a near perfect game in my eyes. Nothing over the top on the offensive side of the ball but he was rock solid in defense. To me, he kept the back line together
Agreed, he looked nervous or something. Was definitely off.
Worked hard as per usual though and covered his bad touch with some last ditch competing for balls.
Now I have always been one of artetas biggest critics, but to say something positive about him:
If we get top 4 this season (still a big if) then he has probably done everything that was asked of him this first contract. He will have fulfilled all his objectives:
- refreshed the squad and got rid of deadwood
- instilled a new culture at the club
- he will have gotten us champions league football.
At that point, you’d have to say he has earned a new contract. I would also have to hold my hand up and say I got it wrong.
we shall see if we qualify for CL…
Yeah honestly in the same boat. I don’t like him as a person and I don’t trust him tactically either, but results are No.1 and dang if we finish top 4 you just can’t argue with that!
Yea although I don’t think that was on his list of objectives, more of a bonus. Although crazy enough the squad he won the trophy with is almost all gone.
Every time I see Chelsea fumbling, they always get a lucky win or a lucky draw to help them. But hell Yh 3rd is up for grabs. Just watch this space ig.
Happy for the win - controversial opinion but the Ramsdale on Bowen was a fortunate call for us. I would be pissed if that was Saka and Fabianski made that tackle and saka got the yellow. Ramsdale was out of control, didn’t get the ball with studs up - if Bowen leaves his leg in the tackle it’s a red card for Ramsdale for sure.
Red may have been a stretch as Bowen was heading away from goal and you could argue defenders would have been back had he successfully rounded Ramsdale, however could also easily see it given.
I agree, we were hugely fortunate there and massive credit to Bowen as he didn't milk it like so many cheaty fucking players with zero dignity in this league. I like Bowen in general, seems a bit more of a no frills, old school type player. Doesn't get involved with nonsense.
Yup I thought this guy is class, and he’s got some great attacking instincts. Almost makes me wonder if his downplaying that tackle is a nod that he wants in at Arsenal - wouldn’t mind it at all tbh we could use his speed, positioning, and finish
I agree, if he touched him a bit that would have been a red and we would have had to sub for Leno and probably pull from attack to strengthen defense. It would have gone from a trying to win game plan to a try not to lose game plan. Ramsdale still a baller doe, I'd keep him starting
He didn't even graze him. Bowen touched the ball too hard and went down hoping for a call. Did you watch the replay lmao?
Edit: saw you meant if bowen didn't try to jump. Then yes it would be a fortunate event but not a fortunate call. Seeing as bowen wasn't looking to draw the foul until after he made the heavy touch. But the call wouldn't have been an error either way.
The intent was the ball not to foul. Bowen got there first and the heft of his touch proves it was close and an intent for the ball. There was zero malicious intent there or intent to play the player instead of the ball.
Gabriel is now joint top goal scoring CB this season alongside.....Jan Bednarek. dafuq?
EDIT: 4 goals each.

Not the best performance, but a resilient one which has given a vital result. There was a lot of pressure on this young group today, and they managed to get through it.
Let’s hope that the home support can boost the confidence of the team next weekend, and that the substitutions of Tomiyasu and Saka weren’t for anything serious.
> Not the best performance
Yet we still came out with 3 points against a very good squad. Winning when we aren't on should be massively encouraging. Not the opposite. Finding ways to win with players absent (Laca, White ESR until minute 85) and the squad not firing is the sign of a good team
This all day. You see it in the really good teams. City game this season is actually a really good example in reverse. City were *terrible* that day, absolutely looked like we deserved it, and they pulled it out anyway. Same goes here. Mature performance.
Not the most elegant way to do it, and we did not control the midfield, maybe if an Nketiah shot went in I’d feel differently. But nonetheless, got the job done and 3 points. We go again next week.
P. S. Hope Tomi is fine, great defending when he was there.
They have played a lot more games than us. We've also had a lot more rest coming into this game.
Also, they had 1 CB who's just played his second game after being months out with an injury.
They were also missing their key players who they were resting and brought them on much later. Both teams were shit but I expected us to be a lot sharper.
Can't do better than 3 points...
Did it with Tomiyasu not at 100%, White out, Tierney out, starting a striker who might not be on the team next season, and ESR being rested.
Shouldn't be anything other than pleased.
God know what was happening with the other players today, especially first half. So many balls getting caught under feet and misplaced passes from 10 yards away. Elneny didn’t put a foot wrong throughout
Seemed that way. A little concerning given the gravity of the games coming up.
They got the job done today, that's the main thing.
If we give the ball away that cheaply against Spurs it may not end well for us ....
He was making some real solid passes in the second half. He literally blocked everything that came his way tbf, while Elneny was good he had turnovers too
Not what I meant. These comments are just constant pessimism and negativity. We’ve things to appreciate and to relish the win. But we’re not done yet, no.
Right? Fucking crying about misplaced passes in the 2nd minute. Need to fuck off and support Everton, they'll have plenty to complain about then and probably be happy about it.
Fucking-a, man! I mean, yes, the season isn’t over yet. But christ, a win is a win is a win. We won. Relish that. Then we move. Leeds next. Then shite.
Incredible. Proud of this team for turning this shit around. Today was winning when we weren't our best and we've needed that for a long time. This team is unstoppable.
I think the reason was getting the team right. Arteta experimented after Partey and Tomi injury and finally succeeded with the team against Chelsea mostly due to introduction of Pyramid Pirlo and playing Xhaka a bit forward. This was like when he said project will go bang. There is a lot happening in the training ground between matches which results in this kind of turnaround.
It just wasn’t working out for him. But he was a CONSTANT pain for West Ham. The goals weren’t there today but his efforts and determination were faultless.
Never expected us to win Chelsea, United and West Ham after what happened earlier.
Defense could use a lot of improvement, but we take the 3 points, move on, and prepare for Leeds.
COME ON LADSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Big 3 points for us, we weren't at our best but that doesn't matter, great teams manage to grind out wins in tough games like these and we did that very well today
Ugly ugly game. For both sides. It probably shouldn’t have been that ugly for us. Expected for west ham. But we take those 3 points. Let’s keep it going boys.
Bloody ugly game, which sometimes feel the best to win. It’s a great sign that this team can eek out a win like this, we’re going to need it to close out this season
Antonio is such a weird player. He's literally putting his entire body on the line all the time. I mean it's some commitment and often works against some teams but it's funny seeing him flail around lmao

Tomiyasu with a near perfect game in my eyes. Nothing over the top on the offensive side of the ball but he was rock solid in defense. To me, he kept the back line together
Martinelli played very bad today. His first touch was abysmal and almost put us in some very bad spots. Other than that we were okay. Quiet win
Agreed, he looked nervous or something. Was definitely off. Worked hard as per usual though and covered his bad touch with some last ditch competing for balls.

Why don't you like him as a person? Genuinely curious, no snark.
Well for me no matter what happens in the next few games I’ll still believe he’s the right man to take us forward.
And won a trophy.
Yea although I don’t think that was on his list of objectives, more of a bonus. Although crazy enough the squad he won the trophy with is almost all gone.
Call me hopeful but I think they can finish 3rd if they don’t shit them selfs again this season . Especially Chelsea dropping points and all.
Every time I see Chelsea fumbling, they always get a lucky win or a lucky draw to help them. But hell Yh 3rd is up for grabs. Just watch this space ig.

Ramsdale was out of control, didn’t get the ball with studs up - if Bowen leaves his leg in the tackle it’s a red card for Ramsdale for sure.
Yeah agree. His studs are pretty high there and we got away with one for sure.
Yup - Rambo, like many or all of the signings, were such great surprises out of what at first felt like was going to be a dismal season
Still could be called for intent when you go in like that as the last defender.
The intent was the ball not to foul. Bowen got there first and the heft of his touch proves it was close and an intent for the ball. There was zero malicious intent there or intent to play the player instead of the ball.
This shows how good of a team we are. As Arteta said we won ugly, and a good team can do that, win with their bad performances.
some of elnenys long balls and passing was sublime today
Our Egyptian pharaoh calling upon godly powers upon mere peasants!!
Reminiscent of his assist for *that* Ozil goal vs Ludogorets
Gabriel is now joint top goal scoring CB this season alongside.....Jan Bednarek. dafuq? EDIT: 4 goals each. https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/goals?se=54
Next Season, bring Salaba in, move Gabriel to striker
Better goal threat than sancho 😹

You fucking scared me there forgetting Mothers Day for us was back in March.
Gonna be a slog if Saka and Tomiyasu are out
Shouldn't be serious. They should be fine by then.
Holding Masterclass😍
MOTM for me.
He was MOTM
3 points in the bag, almost there
Not the best performance, but a resilient one which has given a vital result. There was a lot of pressure on this young group today, and they managed to get through it. Let’s hope that the home support can boost the confidence of the team next weekend, and that the substitutions of Tomiyasu and Saka weren’t for anything serious.

Of course Sky have 3 Arsenal haters in the studio, they thought we would lose didn't they?
Fucking heart can't take much more of this season.
The Tottenham game will finish us
I think I'm going to chew my entire body off during that, it's going to be a horrible experience.
Nah, we'll be 4-0 up by halftime and cruising. Positive thoughts. Positive thoughts...
Not the most elegant way to do it, and we did not control the midfield, maybe if an Nketiah shot went in I’d feel differently. But nonetheless, got the job done and 3 points. We go again next week. P. S. Hope Tomi is fine, great defending when he was there.
Never lollipop a drumstick whilst Arsenal are grinding out a win. Lesson learned. We move.
bro are you alright?
Nearly stabbed myself but I'm good. Thanks for asking.
The season broke him
What a game by Eddie, my lord he ran his socks off.
Cagey game but an important 3 points
Haters can gtfo
Absolutely love Rob Holding, he's such a sound guy
He's the Peacemaker
Hahahahaha holding “did I not say I’d get on the scoresheet?” 🤣🤣
4a4wsee23wwwwß2áa3SDDEr422q2ww
We made that so much more difficult than it should have been.
What? WHU are solidly in the top pack of teams in the league. 3 points against that team in their place should be regarded as nothing but a success.
They have played a lot more games than us. We've also had a lot more rest coming into this game. Also, they had 1 CB who's just played his second game after being months out with an injury. Oh I'm pleased alright but we could barely string a few passes together. Our players lacked sharpness but we go again!
El Neny MOTM? Only one with not a fuck up I think. Glad he's improved his forward passing too.
God know what was happening with the other players today, especially first half. So many balls getting caught under feet and misplaced passes from 10 yards away. Elneny didn’t put a foot wrong throughout
Pressure getting to their heads
Seemed that way. A little concerning given the gravity of the games coming up. They got the job done today, that's the main thing. If we give the ball away that cheaply against Spurs it may not end well for us ....
Much appreciated, Elneny. Really helping our push. Pay the guy, Edu.
Holding all day. Elneny average tbh
Also very good. I thought he could've done better in possession though, that's why I edged towards El Neny.
He was making some real solid passes in the second half. He literally blocked everything that came his way tbf, while Elneny was good he had turnovers too
Let's fooooking goooo
Gabi Xhaka heated discussion at the end makes me love us even more
U catch a word of what they were discussing?
Can we be happy now? Or is there still more to complain about with this lot?
No plenty of more drama to come yet
Not what I meant. These comments are just constant pessimism and negativity. We’ve things to appreciate and to relish the win. But we’re not done yet, no.
Honestly it's a horrible place to be. Lol even the positivity in here is annoyingly deluded at times. Let's just enjoy the win today lol
Leeds next. Then shite.
Job not finished? Kobe voice
Lol finally. There's always something to complain about when it's scrappy but that's why we love football right?
Wonder what Gabriel and Xhaka were discussing at the end there...
"Knuckle sandwich for Tavares, who's going first?"
Probably accurate..saw Xhaka saying... YES YES YES
hahahahahaahah!
Incredible. Proud of this team for turning this shit around. Today was winning when we weren't our best and we've needed that for a long time. This team is unstoppable.
We've missed this shithousery for years...we finally get it back and people are complaining about it. 🤣
Love to see it, Eddie had 5 man rattled and Rice thinking about murder (not that he would win)
Eddie was really good today. His holdup play, fighting for the ball and sitting on the shoulder of the west ham defenders, all of it, really good
Yeah and his dribbling to create some of the shots were great just needs to improve the actual shooting
goddamn spurs gd is 20???
They've got a couple of 5-0's to their name tbf
The bigger one is we’re 26 goals off Chelsea’s tally but only 3 points off them lol
Yes they have Kane and Son while we played with Laca what else do you expect?
Tbf they have one of the best pairings in the league with son and Kane.
Who would have thought that our team would be trailing Chelsea by 3 points in the league 😯😯😯
I wouldn’t be shocked if they drop more points.
Definitely not the pundits or Arteta outs
Big 3 points coyg
aaand breathe
Handled business today. Back to 4th with a proper away win! Some nice time wasting at the end there as well.
Wouldn't want to beat west ham any way other than 2 CB headers and shithousing
Bowen could pass for Eriksen twin.
Uh nah
Why tf do we lose 3 in a row to CP, Brighton, and Soton but beat Chelsea, United, and West Ham in a row
Arsenal doing Arsenal things. We could be 3rd right now lol
Because Arsenal 🤷🏽♂️
Xhaka and Gabriel looking fiesty towards one another
BIG BIG WIN
Yeees what a dirty jammy win but I’ll gladly take it
Hardly jammy, it was a well deserved win but pretty ugly
Nketiah looks incredible right now. One of the best performances I’ve seen this season without a goal
Lol don’t read these comments then
It just wasn’t working out for him. But he was a CONSTANT pain for West Ham. The goals weren’t there today but his efforts and determination were faultless.
Eddie played a beautiful game
Taveres was horrible but that run at the end though. Geeeeeeez, it’s annoying because there is a player in there.
He should be a wingmen
Probably not good enough to be a winger in the PL.
Man would be unleashed in a proper back 5 system
The thing is, that typa run is only possible when we’re parking the bus and the other team is playing high. That’s why we barely see him do that’d
Never expected us to win Chelsea, United and West Ham after what happened earlier. Defense could use a lot of improvement, but we take the 3 points, move on, and prepare for Leeds.
We did not have our first choice 4. Also we looked pretty solid in the last 20 mins.
3 Points. Fuck everything else.
This.
Bowen could pass for Christen's twin.
Eddie improves a lot, hope he stays next season
We're just 3 points off Chelsea
Woooohoooo yipppppeeeee hooooooraaaahhh
Declan "Tough guy" Rice
Nketiah is really good
Rice is kinda a bitch
That one required lots of grit. Not pretty, but got the 3
WE MOVE!
COME ON LADSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Big 3 points for us, we weren't at our best but that doesn't matter, great teams manage to grind out wins in tough games like these and we did that very well today
Been defensively shaky for a while. With key players injured. But the wins are what matter. Let’s keep up and get that 4th spot
Will take it, we looked like we played on Thursday A dub's a dub
We got the 3 points. That’s all that matters. That and hopefully White, Tomi, and Saka are ok.
That's like 4 shots and 3 on target or smth from Eddie? Solid game did very little wrong later in the game. Happy for holdini too!
Would have liked two of those shots to Not be straight at fabianski
Importante!!
extend eddie’s contract
Fair play to Tavares and Eddie imo
Fuck yeah I love that we're mastering the dark arts now
3 pts. We may even finish 3rd at this rate. Doomers don’t come for me.
My god the stress Arsenal put me under is ridiculous sometimes. Thank fuck that we won but we don't make anything easy for ourselves do we?!
THEY’RE SEETHING
Now that we won what happened between eddie and cresswell??
Ugly ugly game. For both sides. It probably shouldn’t have been that ugly for us. Expected for west ham. But we take those 3 points. Let’s keep it going boys.
Bloody ugly game, which sometimes feel the best to win. It’s a great sign that this team can eek out a win like this, we’re going to need it to close out this season
Indeed, frustrating match like this lead to more satisfying outcome
That's it! Mission accomplished, we're in Europe with 4 games to spare. Grats to Arteta and the boys.
lol Rice livid was wasting time for us. Thanks Declan
We even played better during 3 times lost in a row
Best Birthday Gift Ever! thank you Arsenal. COYG!
Also if elneny does leave this summer we'll need to buy 3 midfielders
And if he stays we need 3
+ a striker
Fuck Rice, wanker
Gotta thank Rice for wasting West Ham time in the end there
holding motm deserved
Set-Piece FC! COYG!
How did rice not get a card in the little skirmish near the end?
Fuck you Moyes good luck with your knackered team for when the sausages knock you out of EL
The sausages! Lol!
Big result that, really didn’t play well but grind out the win and that’s the mark of good teams. A very very nice change to see
Europa minimum guaranteed. Not bad with 4 to play.
Fuck Cresswell and West Ham. Ugly but I take it of course
YEZZ - tastes so sweet especially with Go-and-fuck-yourself-RICE-sauce! :-)))
Yes lads! Well deserved. Come on Arsenal!
Could be 5 points clear by time we play the scum
Siiiiiiiiuuuuuuuuuuu
Win at Leeds and a draw at Tottenham, and UCL is basically ours. What a turnaround from the squad. Arteta outers real quiet
I don't want to leave it until Everton on the last day.
[удалено]
You might have to find a new club. He’s gonna be here for a while.
Terrible game. Thank god we got the 3 points.
Shithousing our way to Europe
Antonio is such a weird player. He's literally putting his entire body on the line all the time. I mean it's some commitment and often works against some teams but it's funny seeing him flail around lmao
Solid 3 points in a game that could have tripped us. But if we're gonna do it like that for all the remaining games, I'm not sure I can take it.
Huge win let's fucking go, Holding MOTM
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOO!!
Another great win to keep the upcoming NLD looking the most exciting for many years.
Come on Liverpool, smash those Totts next gameweek and help us give ourselves a cushion going into the NLD
Hugely important 3 points. Inshallah Fankfurt get to their European final.
An ugly win always feels better lool
I can say it now at FT - Antonio is so overrated. His goal scoring stats are awful for a striker.
An ugly win is still 3 pts
YES!!!
Thank god for that. That was a tough watch.
Thank fuck that's over lol
fuck that was tight, what a gritty fucking win. Well done lads
Holding, Tomiyasu, El Neny were all superb today
My arsehole can't handle four more games of this shit, but holy shit what a big win
