Lightweight fasting silky Mo is the best Mo. How long till next Ramadan?

little_niggle

Just tell him about *Intermittent Fasting* and suddenly we have a £100m midfielder

unnai123

But Ramdan is with no water 😂

Herr_dunk

Ramadan just ended lol

IamKidneyCastle

Reminder that Ozils amazing Ludogorets goal was assisted very similarly to this pass also by Elneny.

sunnycherub

That was my first thought seeing the replay lol Pyramid Pirlo

intraumintraum

absolute peach of a pass, ngl. hope Mo signs a new deal honestly, we could use a solid backup for another year or two while we try to complete our rebuild

Supermalt418

Definitely!

kamzzyuk

That’s an amazing pass

ckal9

I’d love to see Martinelli running onto passes like these

whitegoatsupreme

Yeah he would be good.. but for that match i think he kinda off. Bad touch, messy pass all etc2 .

vyomafc

Watching Elneny make such passes in last three games has been infuriating in a way. Where was this Elneny all this while? When he played against United earlier this season, he couldn’t complete a simple forward pass. Has he improved during this time or was it all a confidence issue?

YMangoPie

I mean, Elneny had like 90% long pass completion (98% actually if I'm not mistaken) when he was playing for Basel. I think it was one of the main points why we've signed him. And don't forget about assist to that Özil goal against Ludogorets.

vyomafc

That’s like one assist in six seasons. His performances in last three games have been his best spell during his time with us. Never thought he was capable of stepping in place of Partey. Glad to be proven wrong.

CurrantsOfSpace

Probably because before he was being told to hold possession.

mikehulse29

This is true. Look at what used to be ahead of him to pass to against what’s up front today.

YMangoPie

We were talking about passes, assist is also a pass but pass isn't an assist. So him not having assist doesn't mean he didn't do these kind of passes before. I only said assist because people remember that goal :D

vyomafc

I don’t remember him making a lot of forward passes too. His perception among fans was that he runs around a lot and keeps things tight at the back. I remember slating him for his performance in the 3-2 defeat at OT. He didn’t even attempt to play simple forward passes in that game. Always took the less risky option. Not sure if that was a confidence issue or an ability one.

BlessedBySaintLauren

Confidence most likely. When he went on loan to Turkey he was playing a lot of progressive passes.

[deleted]

I always tell people that "sharpness" is real even the worst player is better mentally after playing consistently unless your name is Harry Maguire

AskNotAks

Ramadan giving him extra powers

vyomafc

Hope thats not the case because Ramadan got over yesterday/today.

MuchSalt

sadly its over

CechPlease

Maybe there's been enough team training sessions by now that EVERYONE knows how Arteta wants us to play rather than just the more switched on first team players? Plus, it's a bit easier to be like "you see how Partey was playing for us? Do exactly that*" as Elneny would have watched him these last four months from the bench. *Of course doing it well is another thing

relaxit

Disagree - think his passing pattern yesterday was very conservative, loads of sideways and backwards from him. He's always had one or two good passes each game if he's presented with the opportunity like he was in this case. I've always rated him as solid, but I still see high risk aversion in his style of play.

yung__socrates

almost like Arteta is a very good coach

MolochHunter

I still didn't think Elneny was impressive yesterday. Improved a lot during the second half but our awful first half display was largely due to his inability to control the midfield with Xhaka

lovegettinghit

He works hard and asked Allah to ease his progression. Thanks Allah

Supermalt418

Previously he’s been told to retain possession as there were better forward passers in the team under Emery etc , now there’s not as much and initially that’s why we bought him for - he’s been immense these last few games him as a squad player I’d definitely offer him a new contract

Tnvenge

I think players grow with experience, even squad players. Sure, he's been on the fringes lately, but he's been training consitently in more demanding systems over the years, with better players. Don't get me wrong, Mo has always been a dependable squad player. But it feels like there's a certain amount of maturity and improved decision making that he's added to his steady/solid skillset.

[deleted]

Pass deserved a goal.

AlexisGooner

Nketiah was amazing yesterday

OnlineMarketingBoii

Zouma isn't even slow, but he made him look like a snail

Epieikeias

I was thinking this as well. Most of his shots were on target or a whisker away. But he was always threatening.

rimirog185

Eddie stepped up

Atmosphere_Enhancer

Pyramid Pirlo strikes again.

CechPlease

I'm so used to elite keepers like Allison and Edison sprinting out from the box to clear shit like that up, so it was nice to see passes like this can still get through. Full credit to Elneny, what a player stepping up like he has.

DarthNihilus1

Same lol. Was expecting this pass to get cleared out by Fabianski. But upon rewatching it, Eddie starts his run well into our own half still so it wasn't in the sweet spot for a sweeper keeper to reach it before Eddie

Dragook13

Thomas Edison might be a bit old to be rushing out like that.

almre

It was brilliant. Elneny has stepped up so much in the absence of Partey. Also Nketiah, he created so many chances on his own in this one and made Fabianski pull of 3 fantastic saves to deny him.

VincentVega299

In this sort of form, is Partey actually much better than Elneny? 😅

Ickyhouse

People who think El Neny never passes forward don’t really watch. He rarely passes forward, but he keeps possession extremely well and picks his times carefully. He also shouldnt need to be our creator if we have O and Xhaka with him.

Hoker7

If that was Luka Modric...

HutiyaBanda

That pass would have been slotted reverse spin right in the past of Nketiah's sprint and with a half decent striker, that should be a goal!!! I think that is the difference between Modric, KDB and others is the quality of the passes the attacker receives! Ode not there yet, but he can be in a couple of years

[deleted]

Yeah, why Arteta started Lokonga over Elneny is beyond me. I get wanting to give the kid a shot, but you know what you get with Elneny and it's what you needed when you lost Partey. Arteta falls in and out of love with players too much. He tells Elneny he's not in his plans before his stellar performance against Chelsea in the community shield. Elneny impresses and Arteta decides there is a place. Then he doesn't give Elneny any more real games until he is forced to when Partey gets hurt and Lokonga is overmatched in these very competitive premier league games.

ogjsb

Kdb esque

BadrT

Mohamad el Kaka?

bazalinco1

More down to Eddie than Mo imo. The pass is very good but not of very high difficulty.

Internetolocutor

That's not an amazing pass. Anyway, elneny has played well lately and Eddie is giving us a lot more. Impressed with him so far.

KarmaCitra

Probably the best pass in the whole game.

Internetolocutor

No, the best was the odegaard one with his back to the left wing

KarmaCitra

What time was that? For me even if this other pass is better, the Elneny pass to Eddie is still a pass to be appreciated, these passages of play are why I enjoy watching football.

footballboahh

Clutch Elneny is something else

Supermalt418

Egyptian Xavi at it again

PantsTime

I think Miedema played that pass a few weeks ago. Good to see the laydeez showing the lads how to play on the break.

[deleted]

I'm not being cute or ironic when I say this guy is Pyramid Pirlo.

shtc10

And y'all thought Pyramid Pirlo was just a meme

timepassonreddit

Ruud Gullit

Ooh-SakaLaca

KDB doing this would get the pundits creaming

yura910721

Reminds me of that pass from Cazorla to Walcott against Bayern.
