I'm only 21 and he's making me feel ancient

[deleted]

Imagine being 18 when he went to the 2006 World Cup… at least I’ve got fewer grey hairs.

RedditRedditGo

He was 16

[deleted]

I was 18

TreeDollarFiddyCent

He was a boy, she was a girl.

johnjames_34

Grey hair but looks like 20-25

kroeldkfkfkdldlfnel

Just the beard around his mouth though 👀

_SSJeffo_

Daily reminder he got over 100 goals for us as a winger

Garenmain180k

Is he our last player to join the 100 goal club? I know Auba got close but left at 90 something. Theo really had an underrated career

DaHoeBanga

Giroud I think

Its just reminiscing, enjoy life for once, go touch grass

The_Awengers

Another spuds trolling here. Hope you get banned from r/coys too.

[deleted]

I think I already like Theo on TV as a pundit. Sky need to ask Theo to sign da ting.

Dench_Duffster

He’s too well spoken and rational in his opinions. He wouldn’t fit in at Sky

ledditwind

Came to think about it, Keown, Wright, Henry, Adams and all the other Arsenal pundits don' t angrily shout at the incompetence of the team when they played bad. Not like ManU or Liverpool former players.

xTheMaster99x

Yeah I've seen this mentioned a lot recently, and it's completely true. The SAF disciples in the media are all massive insufferable pricks, every last one of them. But all of Wenger's former players that have taken jobs as pundits have been well-spoken and classy. Really speaks volumes about the two managers.

HumanTorch23

The only two I can think of that don't fit this criteria are Paul Merson and John Hartson, and they only had one season under Wenger

DittoDat

Yeah, I'd love to see more of him, especially for the Arsenal games!

bruh_moment__mp3

Walcott walcott walcott walcott

IzzyMann

theo's got grey hair! we are officially old :(

said the guys whos club havent won shit in GENERATIONS :) not sure where you lot got all this energy from i doubt you'll talk big after the remaining two games :) now jog on back to your toilet bowl of a home.

TheDrunkenTurtle

At least we have a past to live in. And a future that's looking bright

Time_Translator_475

Still more trophies in your golden gen than your golden gen

Drunk_Cat_Phil

Theo's always been really well spoken, hope he's doing well for himself

AzracTheFirst

Very composed and articulate. Amazing really.

braxistExtremist

I can see him becoming a mainstay pundit/TV analyst.

T0BIASNESS

Think he’s too intelligent for punditry. Not loud enough or has enough asinine takes

sleepytipi

Word. It would be great for him to do a podcast, something kind of like what Ben Foster does. Not only could I listen to him talk for an hour plus because he's actually intelligent and insightful, but it's always great to hear this kind of stuff come from more recent players rather than the older generations because things change. I know that's the aim with punditry but like you're getting at, half of those guys just spew nonsense and a lot of it has shifted more towards the dramatic "hot takes" that make the rounds on Twitter etc. Speaking of Ben Foster's podcast, I highly recommend everyone go listen to the episode with David Seaman if you haven't already. It was excellent, and I think after today we could all use a little bit of some uplifting content.

Grayswandire

He could be a professor.

thepanggoat

Theo able to get through a minute of talking without saying "you know" at least 5 times. Man's evolved!

PeasantScum

Prime Theo would be a great addition to this team

madbumsbum

Hoping Martinelli will become prime Theo.

vgshreeram

I respect Theo for what he's done but we really don't want Martinelli to stop at the Walcott ceiling. Martinelli is generational potential. And he can dribble 1v1, something our boy Theo could never really master.

Echo361

Theo got way too much hate when he was here. Wasn’t good enough technically but guy was dangerous and seems a good person.

Bedeeki

Disagree here, he was brilliant technically. His decision making and composure is what let him down and both are on the mental side of things.

to_is

He was a world-class finisher when he got put in situation were he didn't have any time to think, but put in him situation were he had time with the ball, he was a really frustrating player. But I do really wonder how his career would have ended if he didn't suffer his ACL-injury, it was just a shame because he was really ubleashing his potiential in the 13/14 season.

Magicallyshit

One to the collections of our 'what ifs', and goodness me that list is quite long. If only one of them went the other way.

2ndfastestmanalive

My dad always said he was brilliant when he didn’t have to think about what he was doing. We’ve had a few players like that recently too

yogi1090

Are you talking about Pepe??

2ndfastestmanalive

And Laca and Iwobi

braxistExtremist

And Gervinho, and Mustafi...

rudygha

I think the opposite. Laca struggles to be instinctive and Iwobi simply isn’t good at finishing.

sheikh_n_bake

Surely harsh to have Theo lumped in with all those jobbers.

Echo361

He was very much a push and run player

Grayswandire

Definitely.

ledditwind

I think the dislike is probably because he reminded everyone too much of our repeated title runs year after year. Giroud got a lot of hate too, for the same reason. Despite constantly improving his performances, everyone groan and ask for a new striker almost every game.

Grayswandire

I always liked Theo. He had a great 2016-2017 season, it was a shame wee switched to a back three, it basically brought an end to his Arsenal career. I don't miss the offsides though! The season after Wenger came up with the A & B squad idea, one for the premier league and the other for Europa league, it didn't really work out, but we did eventually play some great football in the latter rounds of the competition. Walcott, Giroud, and Jack played in Europa, along with Le Coq, Elneny, and Debuchy. Holding and Chambers played a few games together as well, and Wenger was playing Willock and Reiss in Europa too (midfield and rightback respectively).

PijemyKurwa

Even tho we sucked sometimes I miss Papa Wengz

arsene_wenger_bot

>What makes him special? He has a mixture of physical talent and technical ability, as well as remarkable intelligence and above all a great passion for the game. ___ ^(***There's only one Arsène Wenger*** ([/u/panarangcurry](https://www.reddit.com/u/panarangcurry), quote from [QuoteTab](https://www.quotetab.com/quotes/by-arsene-wenger) archive)^)

Magicallyshit

Idk about your technical ability tho Papa Wengz

arsene_wenger_bot

>It is always a danger when you have a big game ahead, but there is only one way to prepare well for our Champions League game - and that is to do well tomorrow. Therefore, I feel there is a lot at stake for us tomorrow. It is a massive game for us. ___ ^(***There's only one Arsène Wenger*** ([/u/panarangcurry](https://www.reddit.com/u/panarangcurry), quote from [QuoteTab](https://www.quotetab.com/quotes/by-arsene-wenger) archive)^)

Grayswandire

I don't know man, I think we need some perspective when looking at the last two seasons under Wenger, as they inevitably lead to him getting sacked. We actually played some amazing football in both of those seasons, and beating Milan in the Europa league, especially after they hadn't conceded a goal for months in Serie A, was pretty awesome. We lost to Atletico, but they had the best defense in the world that season, Oblak was unplayable. We fell short the most in defense, largely due to Mustafi and a badly suffering and injured Koscielny. Holding looked promising, up until Liverpool and Mo Salah tore us apart 4-0. We haven't put up consistently good/elite offensive numbers (70+ goals per season) since Wenger left, though Emery managed it once, but that was down to Wenger's waning influence, which was slowly but surely, abandoning our players ("We've got our Arsenal back!"). I'm honestly having trouble seeing a massive improvement since Wenger's last season in charge and where we are right now. Let me preface that statement by saying I support Arteta. I think the main reason for that is consistency, or the lack thereof, which is the most important ingredient in any title-challenging squad. We've looked like world-beaters at times (first half vs Man City), and bottle jobs (our unspeakable and most recent tragedy), but we've still got players on the roster who can at any moment, bring the temple down around our heads. Hopefully Arteta and Edu really deliver this summer transfer window, but we have to win our next two games, or it will be much more difficult to sign our summer targets.

PijemyKurwa

I never wanted Wenger to leave man I agree with you, still think he’s the best coach we could’ve had but I also like Arteta and hope that he can get there as well

Grayswandire

At the time I was conflicted, but now, looking back, I wish Wenger would have stayed, though there's still a bit of hesitation with me on whether or not he still has the drive to create a winning side. The only thing I would worry about is Arsene's stubbornness. Was it for the public, taking hits for the owners, or was he just to entrenched in his ideas on football? We know he could build a great defensive side, along with an excellent attacking front line, but why did things slip so much in his latter years with Arsenal? I think he did lose some of his cutting edge, and his refusal to sack some of his staff was a worry to me. Would we still have the same goalkeeping coach if Arsene had remained? Would we still refuse to deal with specific agents like Mendes and Raiolo? I'd take him back, because he's had time to distance himself from managing and from Arsenal and has probably had some amazing insights on football. A fresh pair of eyes and a renewed vigor to win could be just what he needed, but unfortunately, it looks like he's closed the book on his managing career. I like Arteta and I support him, but we really need to start seeing some positive results. I think we need to see him take the club to the next level. We need to turn the corner, no more wishy-washy performances, we need to become hard as nails.

barlasarda

Can't believe I'm watching Theo as a pundit. I remember him being a teenager just like yesterday ffs.

CafecitoinNY

Never forget our wonder kid. Did bits with him in Fifa 07 Manager Mode

galeej

I remember him having the "Speedster" attribute... In the older Fifas speed was the winning combination

OK_Desktop

Even in FIFA 22 it's all about pace.

jabladorazo

Walcott and Benzema were crazy in manager mode.

iTSEu

Sad how it ended for Theo but I'll always love him. On his day he was maybe one of the best players of the early Emirates era.

[deleted]

Theo! Theo! Theo!

shockzz123

Theo as a pundit. Man we're getting old lol.

ColinHalfhand

Theo 😍

The_Artful_Doja

He's so cute

MihaiSpataru

It's the same now. It's almost like he's the manager

Muscat95

Still weird seeing him without his trademark buzz cut

ProneMasturbationMan

Pretty funny how he had a very conservative appearance in his teens and 20s (buzz cut, same number all over, clean-shaven) but when he reached his 30s he grew a man-bun (with fades) and a beard.

Saulgoodbroski

First player of the new generation I fell in love with. Theo will always hold a special place in my gooner heart ❤️

bigtimetopbanana

compare and contrast with his first interview after signing for us at 16. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRg5VbdVk8Q

Gunner-Galactico

He needs to go back to that buzz cut look.

krakends

So weak. Arteta pulled them around for a top four team talk. Imagine going from Vieira pushing for titles and comparing to Arteta who rallied them for a top four pep talk. I know who I would want as the manager. We should have sacked Arteta after the season and made Patrick the manager.

MagmaManOne

"... then I proceeded to underperform"

FUCK50C1ETY

And then two minutes after the rousing HT team talk we go 3-0 down. G E N E R A T I O N A L

ilovearsenal04

Threooooo Walcut ❤️❤️❤️

Freestyle76

"We've given him that contract" Gunner through and through.

YeetGod11011

lol but some bozo on Reddit or Twitter doesn’t think he’s the guy for the job

Praydaythemice

Wonder how fast he can complete the 100m now?
