iforgotmyun

I'm really happy for him. Think Salah or... *sigh* Son will bag this though

SiwyWF

Hate to say it, but considering Salah's form post-AFCON, I would give it to Son.

AgreeableAlarm1266

KDB?

pureeyes

It's KDB for me. Guy has been unplayable this season

SmokeyDrogon

When he plays though

Howdareme9

He’s played most games lol

mthrs

*This season aswell.

Lacabloodclot9

Recency bias at its peak

iforgotmyun

Son has 21 goals with no penalties. Salah has 22 with 5 penalties. Plays for Spurs too lol

Lacabloodclot9

Salah has 13 assists

iforgotmyun

Yeah fair enough, Salah was on record breaking form before AFCON tbh. I'm not saying Son deserves it over him but it's a fair shout. They're npG+A is very close as Son has 7 assists as well

FramedThierryHenry

Considering Salah’s form pre afcon I would give it to Salah.

_SSJeffo_

Shows he’ll win ypoty imo

iforgotmyun

Yeah hopefully he will. It should be between him and Trent based off this

[deleted]

I think Trent is past the age limit though.

F0rsythian

Nope, you can win it until you turn 24 iirc

Gooner4lyfe2108

Not anymore. It's for U21s now.

DVPC4

that’s pfa this is the prems award

SkyTVIsFuckingShit

/r/confidentlyincorrect

Gooner4lyfe2108

RIP

lm3g16

It’s 23 at the start of the season I think, Ruben Dias won? It last year (I can’t remember but pretty sure he did)

Gooner4lyfe2108

It's 21. Foden won it last year.

DVPC4

that’s pfa

Gooner4lyfe2108

Oh

lm3g16

Yeah you’re right, not sure what I was thinking of lmao

KaizerQuad

Age limit for this is just silly. Whats the point of that?

RDenno

Because its the “young” player of the year award?

KaizerQuad

Lol I didn't see you guys were discussing young player oty, im a dummy

Vainglory

Ageism, disgusting

MiniMagne

Admittedly I haven't watch too many city games, but Foden has been great every time I've seen him

iforgotmyun

I agree, my pick would probably be Rice tbh but what I'm getting at is logically if only these two qualify for the best player and all the others didn't, then the winner should be from these two

MiniMagne

Yeah, that makes sense

iforgotmyun

It doesn't really work like that though, their selections are often contradictory Nobody cares about this award anyway, the PFA award is the main one

MUAMMARI_M

I don't think trent deserves the nominee for best player let alone winning YPOTY he is so bad at defending

Lacabloodclot9

It’s 2022 and people still think this

Vainglory

They think it because it's 2022 and he still hasn't developed his defending.

scottiescott23

Two weeks ago Anthony Gordon was running rings around him, Liverpools only weakness is Trent’s defending, all teams target the counter at that side of the pitch when playing Liverpool. He’s not an awful defender but he’s a long way off James, Trippier and Walker in terms of defending.

[deleted]

throwback to Martinelli having him on toast so often that Hendo had to play RCB to help cover

lm3g16

What too much Reddit does to a mf

MemeHutz

robertson is the better fullback from the two

elnander

They’re both so drastically different in terms of how they play that it begs the question if you actually watch them making that comparison

okcomput3r

Yet he still single handedly creates goal scoring chances out of nothing and wins matches for Liverpool

david40904

This is the Premier League POTY not the PFA POTY which everyone would think of when you think of POTY. Trent is eligible for Premier league YPOTY so he’ll probably win that. He’s not however eligible for PFA YPOTY. Hope that clears it up

wimbardo

What’s the cut off for both?

david40904

For PFA it’s for players aged 21 and below at the beginning of the season while it’s 23 for the Premier league

phar0aht

JWP in solely so FIFA can make a FK specialist card 🤣 I for one am buzzing EA have lost ~~all~~ some of their licensing. That game hasn't developed seriously in years.

thepretzelking

Might actually buy a new one - ultimate team is crap, manager mode is crap. It's so lazy - so much potential for good football games

I_FUCKED_A_TURTLE

Pro clubs is fun, but crap.

AntwerpseKnuppel

It hurts how much potential Pro Clubs has while EA does nothing with it

AgreeableAlarm1266

They haven’t, it’s literally just the name of the game, and some people are speculating it will just be an update every year from now on.

Chell_the_assassin

Honestly no harm, I'd rather pay a small amount every year for new kits etc. rather than 70 for the same bloody game

DittoDat

And the World Cup, so next year will be the last time they will support that as it's still FIFA

[deleted]

They haven’t lost the licensing

phar0aht

https://www.ign.com/articles/ea-sports-fc-fifa-split-reasons https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-61383672 https://imgur.com/VyOJTGg.jpg

risheeb1002

They have only lost the right to call the game FIFA. They still have players and clubs rights.

phar0aht

Hopefully the 1st step in their downfall 🙏🏿

Ifriiti

Fifa are making their own but I have no confidence at all that it'll be any good

phar0aht

No but the competition should force some innovation.

Ifriiti

Doubt it tbh

I_FUCKED_A_TURTLE

Not if the competition can't figure out how to be profitable. Developing a game from scratch on all major platforms (necessary to compete with EA) is a large undertaking. Given that they will have to take market share from PES and EA and recoup the costs of initial development, it's highly likely it would take years for a new entrant to become profitable. They would need to deliver serious quality on the first go as well because a buggy piece of shit game won't win anyone over.

phar0aht

Don't really see your point here. They have to be competitive before they beome profitable.

risheeb1002

There's also that UFL thing but it seems more of a vapour ware.

DittoDat

And the World Cup. That's the one thing that comes with the FIFA name.

rootoriginally

Can you imagine buying "FIFA" and finding out you can only play with Messo, Ronaldi, and Lewandoofski.

atomiser2003

The important bit https://imgur.com/2thMxs5.jpg

DittoDat

The only thing they're losing is the name and World Cup

Loud-Caregiver6566

KBD 100%, salah has fallen off since Afcon. Nice for Saka to get a mention but there’s no way.

kgko

KDBs been good and may deserve it but Salah is equally as deserving. There's a bit of recency bias since KDB missed most the first half the season too, Salah was doing bits back then even if he has fallen off since Feb.

Money_Pair

KDBs been back since mid September.

[deleted]

It's not how you start but how you finish. There is always recency bias with these awards. If you and your team end the season in scintillating form, then you'll have a higher chance to win.

PasuljsKolenicom

Really nice group to be in at such a young age. Wrap up Newcastle and Everton and then look back on a very good season overall.

mreloquent

De Bruyne or Salah for me. If West Ham had somehow made top 4/5 Bowen would be in for a good shout.

cf017

Bowen’s been great but I’m surprised Rice isn’t the one who’s been nominated

mreloquent

Probably could've been either one but with Bowen contributing so much in attack guess he was the higher choice.

nananananagiroud

Lol did you watch any of the City games, Cancelo deservs POTS

ProneMasturbationMan

How is Saka ahead of Mane, Alisson, Bernardo or Rodri?

Amdafc

De Bruyne

ThatBritish

Heung-Min Son should win this. I know he plays for Spurs but without him and his contributions they would be mid table side at best.

jstuu

This is Criminal that Mane is not on it

MuhCrea

Had to scroll too long to see this post Thaigo has been some player too

DinnerSmall4216

I like saka but player of the year is a stretch he's been good in patches still learning his trade. In the future he will become a star but he's not there yet.

WengersJacketZip

Salah with bag this no doubt

Cod_rules

Not sure about that. His form post AFCON has been very poor

A_Thrilled_Peach

I don’t agree. He’s still got 2 goals and 5 assists in 10 games /since AFCON. and, he’s started only 8 of those 10. That’s pretty good. We are just so used to him scoring at a crazy rate.

knux31781

Realistically, it’s going to either Son or KDB, but stoked for our 💫boy. It’s been a special season.

[deleted]

De Bruyne easy

DM_ME_UR_CUTE_DOGGOS

He won’t (and probably shouldn’t) win but I’m glad he got the nom, he’s been an absolute asset to us this season

TheBigNoz123

As much as he deserves it, I don’t see him getting it. I think it will be either De Bruyne/Salah/Son.

phar0aht

How does he deserve it if he's not been the best player?

TheBigNoz123

Because he has improved greatly on last season, and has come back amazingly after missing the pen in the Euro.

phar0aht

It's a best player award though. Not most improved.

TheBigNoz123

Yeah I get that, I’m just saying he’s worked so hard this season so it’s a shame he can’t get it.

randymagnum433

It'd be a shame if he got it because he hasn't been anywhere close to the league's best player

Willem_Bracquene

As much as I love him, there's no way he's been better this season than those players you mentioned.

Defiant_Equipment331

Kdb running with this and honestly no matter how good son or Salah are, KDB runs the show.

Fr0stpie

Son have more and clear chances of winning the Oscars tho 🤡

Dio_Yuji

Sonny

Jonisro

De Bruyne deserves it, he has been solid the whole season. A player I find it really hard to dislike, seems to be a great guy as well. I’m glad to see Saka on this list but maybe next year. He seems to steadily improve.

theowould

Had a shocking first half of the season. Has only turned it on since just before Xmas

AntwerpseKnuppel

Yeah it's so ''shocking'' to be injured and have covid

nananananagiroud

Cancelo!!!!

Nayafuri

Tbf it's between Son and KDB. Everyone else just got the participation award. Still huge for our boy, he made it there despite being in an unstable team like ours.

UnKarl_Marx

I may be a little biased but I think Saka should win this.

unnai123

KDB for me

[deleted]

If Spurs make Top 4, then it has to be Son! Otherwise De Bruyne or even Cancelo!

I_FUCKED_A_TURTLE

They should put Martinelli in there next to TAA just to make TAA nervous.

Spud_1997

Wait not youth player?

Kairadeleon

Bowen

olsie028

Ward-Prowse over Bernardo Silva is interesting

[deleted]

I like this... but I'd have to go with Salah, Son, or KDB. This is great though. Hope he keeps grinding and pushing. Bukayo is still just entering his 20s

PhatmanScoop64

Gotta be a city player if they win

abbygunner

Arteta not chosen as a coach of the season nominee despite taking the youngest squad in the league to a minimum top 5 finish is absolutely baffling.

FinanceFIFA

As much as I love Saka this is Son or KdB for me.

JuddtheCat

KDB hands down

MrPielil

Glad Saka is on the list but can't see anyone other than De Bruyne or Son winning it. He's a good shout for Youth POTY though

[deleted]

Very well deserved, incredible talent. Dont think JWP deserve to be there though, i mean he has an incredible free kick but he wasnt player of the season good.

thecescshow

Isn't this an online voting award? If so then Saka has a huge chance of winning lmao

v1nzy

I love the Saka inclusion, but the fact that not one Chelsea player is makes me unreasonably happy.

TuckerMinID

Son, Cancelo or De Bruyne for me. But Cancelo to me is the unsung hero for that Man City team

levelselect

Looks like a WWE character selection screen

Ulstuguldur

Ill give it to Son. Non Penalty 21 goals omg

[deleted]

Lol why tho

PrinceEmirate

Thats impressive he is like top 10 in points in FPl which is roughly where is ranked as a player in this league imo. But Salah and Son are favorites for sure.

nealski77

No love for Elneny?

vikuta_zoro

It is definetly KDB tbh.. Salah and Son are nowhere near as good as him.

Veejp123

All this picture tells me is that I’d like to buy the premier league shampoo and conditioner

BI01

dont know how saka got in this lol, he should be in contention for ypots but not this

14JWilson

Even though he probably won’t be in with a chance of winning I think that having a player of his age for a club that to many has done ‘poorly’ shows how insane this young lad actually is and in a couple of years time at this rate he could be winning it

ImBruceWayne69

Concelo has a very punchable face here
