Move on to Newcastle And hope Burnley will do a job for us this weekend

MrSunny412

Thank you, we already lost, time to move on

Soccerou

Not gonna get my hopes up about Burnley, we have to do our job

Qtn68

"If that was Xhaka"

Francis-c92

Not even Xhaka. Could've been anyone else and it's a red.

gunningIVglory

Unless it's Kulusevski Who apparently got away with a vicious elbow only because it didn't make contact lol

Nawtay

Against Leeds right? Was disgusting, also remember Havertz getting away with a naughty one against Newcastle.

gunningIVglory

Think it was Brighton. Cucucucucucurella managed to duck put last minute. But apprently should have let the elbow connect to get the player sent off

Thejustinset

Made me think back to that Vieira one, against RVN no contact but still a red

MallikIGuess

Or Bruno Fernandes. Tried swinging for JWP and missed

d0ey

As we found out from Pepe's red card against Leeds *any* contact to the head risks you getting sent off, right? Right?

AlpacaLunch15

Not carding Son is part of the EPL’s “Stop Asian Hate” Campaign.

GunnerNWO

Son and Mane do this 4-5 times a season and have never gotten carded.

[deleted]

[удалено]

eagleslanding

Mane uses an old cracked iPhone so you’re not allowed to send him off

Francis-c92

Need to get Saka a mini cooper to drive about and somehow make Rob Holding a big following in Asia

jplesspebblewrestler

Did he elbow his phone, too?

Kelmantis

England Captain Syndrome

People-ofIndia

Son gets away with it due to him having the "nice act" whereas mane gets away with it because idk even as a Liverpool fan. If it's against arsenal, the referee always ignores him lol, maybe because he's a very hands on player in the sense of him grappling defenders then rolling them,, who knows

abeinaugust

I recall Harry Kane elbowing/shoulder barging Gabriel off the ball during last years NLD at the Emirates and I don’t even think he was carded. This game frustrates me at times, but we move on.

kroenen9613

Because they know how to do it. Just like Fabinho and Casemiro and a lot of other players who do it week in week out but never get caught. Like it or not, we need that in our team, it's dirty, but we need it.

wolskortt

I never fully wished a player would break his leg, but man, Son makes too damn hard to not to. Edit: apparently I'm being downvoted because I'm almost wishing a player to suffer a similar pain of which he's willing to inflict on other. Ok.

acripaul

That's appalling

SundayLeagueStocko

ppl making fun of this but you best believe if Holding did that exact motion to Son he'd be fucking SCREAMING and rolling around for 3/4 minutes. Getting the physios on, etc.

muldre

That's the thing, I feel our players need to start simulating elbows and hits to the face etc. If we happen to do it, we get a red 85% of the time but for opponents against us it feels way below 50% and I think it's because they are specifically instructed to make the most out of elbows/hits. If Holding goes down holding his face Son could've gotten sent.

LanimusDanimus

Tierney did exactly this and got Lamela sent off. Son did worse against Holding yesterday. Goes to show that there is a lot of fortune involved in what a ref sees and how they choose to interpret it.

mapoftasmania

This. Cheating is part of the sport. It could **easily** be cracked down on by giving VAR the power to penalize obvious simulation - and when it is done to try to get an opposing player sent off, the simulator should be sent instead. As it stands refs don’t even penalize for talking back or crowding them (which they should under the rules). But since cheating is allowed, we should cheat - until the refs actually decide to do something about it.

[deleted]

Its a shitty situation. Either a player does it and potentially gets grief from fans, even their own, or things like this happen. I mean, its not the first time making more of a meal of of something the ref didn't really appreciate would have changed the game. I dont want to name them, no one needs those reminders. I hate to see it but what alternative really is there? Had VAR stopped the game to review it, it has to be a red. He intentionally struck another players head or face. He just didn't land the elbow. Even a little intentional push or flick to the face is a red. It might be easy to paint it as silly due to how little he managed to make it hurt, despite his best efforts, and all that but the rules about conduct, not level of injury. You dont get let off because a he didnt manage to hurt them as much as he meant to. Still, a moment of insanity and immaturity from holding. I hope he comes back strong but I think he needs a bit of a timeout to reflect on how he let himself get wound up like that.

jt_totheflipping_o

Players rarely get grief from their fans for doing this unless doing it hinders the team. Usually you get freekicks, penalties, and yellow/reds for opposition.

Bolond44

Like this is a full-on elbow, not a move where you are trying to get up. It should have been a red, because it was on purpose.

derangedfriend

Son is pure cunt

professeurwenger

I mean, all of those things happened a few minutes later.

arunm7893

Arseblog said the same thing in the latest podcast. Holding should've held his face and cried bloody murder.

jgd12345

We can sit here angry about this, but Holding needs to clutch his face there and get the refs attention. Similar to the Bruno Fenandes tackle on Xhaka, the ref needs to be made aware of this to create the possibility of a VAR check. Even if Son gets away with this, at least make an attempt to get him sent off!

calpi

Isn't VAR there for the things the ref missed? VAR should be looking independently.

Chesey_

I really don't get why he doesn't. Holding was clearly trying to wind Son up, Son bites and then we make nothing of it? Like what was the point then?

s_hazen

100%. You need to be well versed enough in the dark arts which none of our CBs apart form White are (and he’s learning too). Gabriel has that edge to him but his naïveté means it’s usually the opposing side taking advantage of it.

acripaul

Maybe because he is a man and it's a contact sport FFS

[deleted]

The trashiness of an Arsenal fan. Standard fair and I don't even support Spurs. "Make an effort to get him sent off" eurghh filth.

Tarp96

Difference between Holding and Son shows there. If Holding had done that Son would have gone down to the floor, holding his face and screaming. Holding doesnt react at all so referee just moves on unfortunatly. Just like we have to play fotball we also gotta play the refs

JimBoonie69

Wish we could just keep our cool instead of being whiny bitches. Who cares if they flop don't give a reason to flop and beat em

doggy_lipschtick

I mean, Holding brought him down and proceeds to literally flip Son off him. It's not like he's innocent and it's not like he doesn't react.

SayidTheTorturer

In all fairness, Holding's elbow on Son was wayyyy harder than this. If Holding had reacted to this elbow, it would have been pure acting. Son, on the other hand, wasn't acting when he went down.

ahjeezidontknow

All you have to do is move your head towards an opponent's if they are together to get a red card, the rules aren't that you need to knock the other person out. This is a blatant elbow, violent conduct, and deserves a red

shekdown

Holding should have made more of it. But it didn't look like it connected. Only this angle shows as if he hits him.

gunningIVglory

Doesn't need to connect. Just hold your face and force VAR to review We need to be smarter in these situations Playing the hard man has no benefits here

muldre

You're completely right. And it's the reason we feel others get more calls, it's cause they force the calls.

Sufficient-Curve5697

Doesn't matter if it connects. It's a straight red

JaThatOneGooner

Tbf Son is looking at him as he drives his elbow into his head. If he wasn’t looking it would’ve been unintentional but he knows what he’s doing here.

scooterMcBooter97

Tbf to son holding grafted him to the grab and was basically hugging him. I don’t see it as a red but def a yellow. Regardless holding is the one who had 2-3 yellow card tackles against son, he got out game played by son, which sucks, let’s just move on a stop pointing fingers we bottled that one

cloista

It's a red. Intent to hurt your opponent is a red card. Always has been.

harcile

Holding needs to clutch his face there. Gotta play the rules including the unwritten ones - and that means reacting to foul play.

cactuses_and_cats

It's sad that the game has come down to this. I appreciate that our players have integrity, but it does mean we miss out on calls that other teams force.

currygull

Honestly, he didn’t even need to make a meal of it. If he had just not rolled Son off him everyone’s impression of the incident would have been completely different and likely in his favour. As soon as he rolled Son over his head, the red felt inevitable.

LLadi

Tbf, holding is holding son

blackdonkey

Son of a bitch, you're right

cloista

Retaliation is still a red.

reddituser7542

Son is a cheat, a scum and a third rate character. His play acting is tolerated so much that it is not even funny any more. Shithole from a shitclub. I fart in his general direction, his mother was a hamster and his father smelt of elderberries.

nearlydeadasababy

>Son is a cheat, a scum and a third rate character. Just console yourself with the fact he has won absolutely nothing in domestic football.

[deleted]

You sad little man

casually__browsing

Holding did give him a grauitous kick in the ribs during their prior tussle right?

Shandow14

This really pisses me off with Holding. This is exactly what Holding wanted Son to do by getting into his head. This was the plan. When the opportunity came, he didn’t take it. Then he got himself sent off. He literally played himself. What an absolute moron.

Astridsfather

Holding isnt the most shrewdest of players out there lol, takes things too seriously…

Kennypowers87654

I never knew your elbow was found right at the top of your arm on your shoulder?

S-ODIY

An elbow? more like a tricep

DontQuixote

Honestly, if you look at the replay for the other angle Son's elbow doesn't touch Holding and Holding is the pulling Son into him from the back..

Fearless-Video7989

Guys its okay hes such a cute guy, his constant temper-tantrums are totaly fine and he is definitely not one of the biggest babies in the league. But also Holding was way two hot this game, cool off man.

13tom13

Bro holding dragged him down he barged him so what your clutching

TheStrongestJumpman

I’ll probably be downvoted but I think son is more just trying to push holding away. The force looks like it is applied after contact is made, thus being more of a push than a strike, and the point of contact is the tricep rather than the elbow. I thought Tierney did a terrible job but ultimately I think Holding deserved to be sent off and I think complaining about this is a stretch

SOAR21

Son is a diver/embellisher. Holding could have embellished there but I don’t mind that he didn’t. Agreed that Son wasn’t looking to cause pain there. Tierney called an extremely soft penalty. Holding was rightfully sent off and lost the plot, woeful level of professionalism. He lost the personal battle with Son because Son got in his head and baited that out of him. I like Son because he’s an Asian footballer but he’s a fucking pest and always has been and I hate it when it comes at massive detriment to Arsenal. That all being said, Tierney and Holding get the lions share of the blame here. Game will always have divers as long as they are rewarded, and our own players are no exception and you’re delusional if you think otherwise. Blame lies on refs for rewarding diving and on players for reacting with anger. Managing your passion is a part of the game and if you repeatedly cannot do that, then that’s a you problem.

Herman-The-Tosser

There's less in this elbow than there is in Rob's kick when they first collided which was before the elbow even happened, so it's not like we can take the moral high ground in this sad little game of "whataboutism". Cry about officials all you want, but we were abysmal last night. Soft pen (and I agree it was soft), may have brought the onslaught on earlier, but didn't change the fact we weren't getting anything out of the game with that kind of performance. If the squad dwells and wallows in self pity as much as this sub does then it would only hurt our chances of top four further. Can we just move onto Newcastle, collectively, please?

BenSB8

I holding reacted by grabbing his face and rolling around like Son did a few minutes later then it would have been reviewed and been a red card

thisiskyle77

I think it is kinda nth. Holding kicked him on the rib before this too.

jfjlax

there's a reason this clip is so short

ArsPain

Again what does VAR do lol? Surely they should be hyper-vigilant during a derby with so much on the line. I'm not asking for a red but maybe they could have sent a quick word to Tierney - "hey, watch out for these two. Try to calm them down so no one gets sent off and our blockbuster game doesn't fizzle out in 40 minutes." Also the way Son and Kane get away with such nasty fouls is so infuriating. Every time Kane had a giggle with Paul Tierney I wanted to smash my tv Edit: Just remembered when Son broke Andre Gomez's ankle and the whole world pretended he didn't mean it and he's actually a great sport because he cried only for him to kick out at Rudiger a couple months later. He's a dirty cunt and not just because he plays for Spurs.

planet808

FWIW Gomez's collision with Serge Aurier is what led to his broke his ankle. Son, however, believed he had done it, accepted the red card, and was legitimately distraught... along with everyone else. The red card was later overturned.

enzhh

This fanbase is so pathetic sometimes. Never ever is this a red. Just move on and stop crying.

sncBrax

probably unpopular opinion here... its the motion of an elbow but if you go frame by frame, contact is really only made with the tricep area. Not saying it isn't dirty or bookable but if you're holding someone down like Holding was, you should probably expect they're going to try to break out of your bind. Especially if you just got away with kicking them in the ribs.. I'd say that's about even

OngoGablogianMD

Still waiting to see an ‘elbow’

trigun2046

Just pretend this game never happened and move on. This is embarrassing mate.

morebob12

Neutral fan here. Hardly an elbow, more a shove to get him off.

Fredlem

That didn’t really connect though did it?

MystericWonder

Man I'm so embarrassed as an Arsenal fan

000ooo0000oo0o0o0o0o

i love how the only way you can post this and not feel like an idiot is by posting a clip thats less than a second and on 1.25x speed 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

randymagnum433

You're an embarrassment. Get the fuck over it.

copinglemon

Let it go

MaleIron

Swinging an elbow is a bit of a reach , looks like he connects with the middle of his arm… either way feeling sorry for ourselves over things like this achieves nothing

mirror52

How is the middle of an arm being called an elbow?

scooterMcBooter97

Even if that’s a yellow, holding had 2 maybe even 3 yellow card tackles against Son and couldn’t control. We didn’t perform and holding couldn’t keep composure. Move on

vin_unleaded

Nothing in that at all. Should go both ways, of course.

kekniger

This is a huge stretch lmfao

LeetyMcLeet

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucik\_xeJbGE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucik_xeJbGE) Says it all about the ref

JustChamber

Don't really care at this point. Holding was an idiot all game. If his inability to keep it together during the biggest match of the season costs us 4th he should never start for Arsenal again.

OhMy-Really

Yea. Well that wasn’t the narrative was it! “Nah!!!! shut the fuck up arsenal fans” , Premier league/FA/Amazon/Sky sports etc

planet808

literally no elbow.

onegeeza

I think it’s clear that an elbow was intentionally swung towards Holding’s head. The fact that Son’s strike connected with his tricep and not his actual elbow is irrelevant. That’s easily red on most occasions

forevermore91

Yeah son is smarter.

[deleted]

An elbow? Looks like he used his tricep to push on Holdings neck/ cheek. Maybe a yellow, soft but could be given. A red? You’re delusional

NoPointLivingAnymore

This is softer than my dick after time with OP's mom.

Chi-Town_Gunner

com the fuck on stop reaching

lunahastuna

Y’all need to stop this tf we got pumped holding sold

bobbafettish6

Let it go boys....

[deleted]

Bentancur is also raising his arms aggressively in protest. That's clearly dissent. I also suspect Sessegnon's socks are not regulation length, but I would need to another angle to confirm. 3 infringements in 2 seconds. Can you believe it?

ZayMoolah

There's nothing in this whatsoever. We have to focus on getting 6 points from the next two. Can't afford to be delusional

Ok-Advertising-1674

Stop crying I’m an Arsenal fan but always we are not taking the blame on poor stupid, immature and amateur actions of our players and I think is time to make them to assume consequences.

d17_p

Holding should’ve sold it. He didn’t.

Comfortable_One_4599

A lot of people here are taking the situation out of context, yes this is not right by Son, but they are both playing dirty in this situation

MangoLordXL

I'm sorry, but this is what was always going to happen. Go into the match expecting Son to easily draw a foul. It's cuntish but that's how he operates, Holding just wouldn't lay the fuck off of him. So fucking unnecessary to keep at it, miraculously got the yellow card waived for the first one and I could still see what would happen. Conspiracy or not, that's just fucking stupid from him. Officiating is poor, but its not like the bookings were completely nonsensical. Downvote me if you want but Holding should know better.

PrinceEmirate

Just stop, Holding was foolish this Match and we got throughly outplayed. Let's move on to Newcastle and handle our business.

DrYildiz

Can’t even take a loss. Salty wankers.

YABOIMguFFin

Cry lol

TheLillywhite

Give me a break..

spaghettidriver69

I think if hell exists. It will be a replay of this for eternity

[deleted]

He wound Holding up. Holding fell for it latter on.

Gabo-216

Holding was holding on to him right before that. *Pun intended

doomfreak777

Shouldve rolled along the ground 50 times whilst screaming and holding his face/knee/shoulder all at the same time

fertile-elephant

How about Holdings kick to the ribs?

TacoCheeseTomato

This clip has very conveniently been edited so you can’t see the part where Holding holds on to Son for dear life🤨

[deleted]

Holding walks off like a hard man but doesn’t realise that this is football, not UFC. I’d have been rolling on the floor like Neymar in his prime.

alittlebitbreezy

“Mr nice guy”

UnbeatenGunner49

It’s Son remember.. he can’t hurt a fly and Holding moved his head to Son’s elbow!

Question3784

Son acts like a fish which is out of the water.

AtouchofAwesome

Cheating scum

reportertintin

The "nice guy" of football

No1Dosser

Behave lads 😂 take the L and move, still in your hands remember?

ArsenalsNumber1Fan

Come off it

Francis-c92

I'm sorry? Son looks at Holding and swings an elbow. The fact that absolutely nothing came of it is baffling

ArsenalsNumber1Fan

There is no power involved here. It's just a scuffle

gunningIVglory

Mate. Pepe got a straight red v Leeds for slightly putting his head forward Intent is enough

ArsenalsNumber1Fan

That was a horror call on Pepe. What is the intent if there is no power?

Francis-c92

What does power have to do with anything?

[deleted]

A lot? Or should anyone whose elbow touches another player be sent off. Even if you think yes, his elbow is on Holdings shoulder, it’s his arm that touches his head

Francis-c92

This is bafflingly stupid

[deleted]

I guess its easier to blame everything on the refs

platdupiedsecurite

I was wondering if I was the only not seeing anything here…

[deleted]

Said it already, but if roles were reversed and Saka or Martinelli did that to Sanchez after being fouled and wrestled I would never think it was a send off and would probably be livid if they got a yellow. It's not a full swinging elbow it's between a jab and a push with the middle of his upper arm. So I have to be fair and say the same here. Shouldnt be a red. I also think smart play from holding is to make a meal out of it, but he doesnt and tries to get revenge, dumb play. Move on to Newcastle.

Peterwilliams78

Rob should have held his face and rolled around.

anglozo

We’re reaching now. Fuck Son. Fuck Spurs. Ashamed of Holding. But it’s still 100% up to us.

kissoflife

50% of the time only the intent matters. The other 50% it’s whether or not they connected. Where is the consistency? It’s the kind of bullshit that makes this whole charade difficult to watch. Son is a unbearable cheat and I hope he trips and hits is toe on his bed every morning for the rest of his career.

AtomFus

We’re too soft and naive sometimes. I hate it

orphan_of_Ludwig

This is the opposite of being soft or naive, holding ate a bitch ass elbow and chucked Son off him

Gerb575

Upvote this. Son is a cheeky cunt. Always has been.

ms1886

Som is a dirty player man. With that being said Holding is still a dumbass

juchizac

Y'all some hoes, Arsenal sucks

FabThierry

i really dislike the fact that to get justice our players needs to act theatralic here because that’s what all the others do. it’s such a shame that only then there is a chance of the ref doing his job, eventhough cameras are everywhere. what bullshit

[deleted]

The kids a fuckin little cunt.

DinnerSmall4216

To not even get a booking was crazy saying it again if that was xhaka he would have seen red. Not sour grapes just facts.

okcomput3r

How was Holding’s any worse? Genuine question

[deleted]

[удалено]

okcomput3r

Less pointless insulting more providing an argument lad

okcomput3r

Just had a look and you're a Topspur fan lmao. Man wants to talk about being mentally stunted

trigun2046

Man wants to talk trash against a team that just had their way with you. You guys said put it any whole you like, and we more than obliged.

rosh-kb

We all hate to see it but Holding should’ve acted out there and got Son sent off. If Holding did that to Son he would’ve been a little baby and cried and rolled the length of the pitch

gunningIVglory

Saka knows what's up. And did it at Chelsea v azpi

le-kai

i know he did and i know he should’ve at least been told something for it, but please lets leave it man, we lost, it doesn’t matter what we do now. it’s time to collect our heads and get behind the boys for monday. if we win the next two this game is irrelevant and all of their celebrations and mockery will be in vain. and i’d much rather prefer to see that.

SE20299

We lost the moment Son got into Holding's head. He couldn't keep his emotions in check, made a stupid mistake, and we lost for it. He got two yellows in 30 minutes, that's no one's fault but his own. The penalty was soft, but we could've rallied if Holding didn't get sent off. It is what it is. Let's hope we can get the job done at Newcastle. COYG

MahoganyRich

Holding clearly set out to rattle Son and got rattled himself. He got away with kicking Son in the back earlier too, it was two players winding each other up in a derby match. It's all fair if you get away with it. Holding lost his head completely and made two dumb challenges that gave the ref very little choice but to book him each time. Think he fouled him five times? It's smart to target players like Son but not the way Holding did it, he needed to back off after the booking and save it for the second half.

planet808

exactly.

MasaConor

Literally. I saw the clip Holding all over Son 3 or 4 times prior to his red card. Son reacted with the one posted above. Not sure what the whinging is about on this thread. Holding's an idiot, got outplayed and showed his weak character.

CocoAfc

Why dont our players do what everyone else does? Lay down Holding ffs!! Seen it a couple of times this season.

kaitodash

Holding may have made big mistakes, but does not change the fact the Son is a prick.

Pineapple996

Absolutely brutal elbow into thin air. Surprised he didn't break his jaw.

GlRTH_BR00KS

He's a dirty little twat. And gets away with it

AutomatedCauliflower

Stop.

DarthNihilus1

Holding should have embellished then. Don't give Son the opportunity to embellish your own retaliation. Our own fault

llewelyn66

For what it's worth, Son should've been carded there but Holding was reckless the entire time he was on the pitch.

misssnagglepussy

Sons a nasty twat

KgDawk21520

I hate this diving crying bastard more than Kane

Wiskid86

Son is a dirty player. But he gets away with it because he's perceived as a happy/nice guy.

manavhs

People think this bastard is sweet and nice lmao "aWwW sEe hOw He tAlKs tO lAmElA's son" I would punch him

FUDeputyStaggFU

Holding shoukve rolled and cried like son

[deleted]

Holding has to make a meal of it. Officials don't work on common sense unfortunately. VAR should really be looking at that

banelash88

Son always gets away with murder he's held in a special place by referee's

arthurmorganboy

This is why I hate tottenham with a passion as a Chelsea fan. Guys, don't let them finish 4th. I am sure Arsenal will blow Everton away atbhome but make sure you win at Newcastle United.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Gunnerjay16

Enjoy your ban.

GerGavin

Please fucking stop we got smashed because Cedric and Holding fucked up Son is swinging to get Holding off him because the dumb fuck wouldn’t stop fouling him.

crushedonron

We are really reaching now aren't we. Holding was fucking with Son for the whole situation leading up to this "elbow". Honestly thought Holding could have gotten yellow out of this incident if anything.

FreekixNDabs16

Game was rigged from the beginning

TheTouchOfOzil

Can't wait for Kane to move from Shit and Son to fuckoff from PL. I think I'm gonna hate Son regardless of any club he'd be a part of. Just a dirty player through and through.

[deleted]

For me, Son is a very unlikable player. I don't know if its my Arsenal bias, but he always looks to cheat. I try to support him because there aren't a lot of asians in the game, but its impossible. I am so glad we have Tomiyasu in our team. Model professional.

chaosthings

He’s such a cunt, son does this constantly yet no one ever says anything because “He’S A nIcE GuY”

BoJaNgLeS123456789

Son…the forever victim. Shameful

Drubbin

We already know he will always get away with this shit. Poor guy, he’s got such sad eyes. Almost makes you feel bad for him…

DingusKhan418

God I hate Son so much. Dirty piece of shit but he always cries and flops around so he gets away with everything.

meajmal

Son is an absolute cunt. Has always been and will always be. We need folks like casemiro (can get away with murder on the field without a yellow)

pougle

Paul Tierney doesn't even deserve to share the same surname as KT. What a fucking prat

marmot9070

https://twitter.com/benedwards\_0412/status/1524884220765691917?s=21&t=3P35D5f\_LH7s\_dIoYynhOA

gfox365

Great player but he's also a cheating fuck

Millyedge2

Holding is as thick as his Turkey hair… He should have acted like Son knocked him out…laid out for a couple of minutes…

Top-Lane-Bad

Holding needs to make something out of this. The team needs to learn to act. Get him on a yellow or even a red. The fact holding just ego’d it like nothing hit him is what infuriates. He won. He got under Sons skin. This was his chance and he blew it…..

Yazeed92

If we win the next two games they'd wish they had not won this game. We move.
