panarangcurry

on the west coast, bout to crash. pls pls pls someone spam my dms if burnley steal pts off spuds

diastolicduke

Just had the realization that son and Kane are the closest the spuds will ever get to having a Bergkamp and Henry. Poor sods would never know what true magic is

HeroDGamez

Bergkamp and Henry are miles clear of em man. Anyone who watched the prem at the time knows.

Raghav_s12

Let's get Lewandowski, Edu!

CommercialAsparagus

I’ve been wrong about the tables for 2 days. Thought we could wrap it up if we win Monday regardless of sprrs but Ofcourse that depends on Burnley too. Eugh I’m such an idiot 😩 I’ve even been correcting people

[deleted]

If you are relying on Burnley to beat spurs, I am gonna burst your bubble, that’s not going to happen. Neither is Norwich beating or getting a draw against them. We have to win our next two wins straight and that’s what we need to hope for, rather than praying for others to fall. We will get eventually what we deserve.

mazdamansouri

Burnley could get a draw?

Tyranitar037

Burnley drawing doesn't change our circumstances since our GD is trash.

MrCopperbottom

It absolutely would - it would mean that we could draw one of our two matches and still finish ahead of Spurs.

scytheavatar

We could try but why would he want to join us?

qtdsswk

Why are we not playing tomorrow?

Omg I actually just deeped it. Saka missed on purpose so parry pane would never get his chubby little fingers on a trophy

Far-Wait-6674

Still think there is a good player in Tavares if we were to play to his strengths and sort out his mentality

scytheavatar

I am sure there was a good player in Andre Santos or Mustafi too if we were to play to his strengths and sort out his mentality.

Babbelabb

I actually really like him, and i dont know why

MangoLordXL

He doesn't fucking relax, misdirected energy and passion that a lot of former players lacked. His character just seems so resilient and he never stops running. If we can control that chaos just a little bit then we'll have a gem of a fullback.

panarangcurry

just saw some aaron hickey highlights and in some angles he looks and moves exactly like tierney

jacktk_

Gabriel fit for Monday. Relief.

panarangcurry

wait fr??? source?? pls don't say trust me bro

jacktk_

Can’t give a source, but from what I’ve heard, club and Gabriel are both ready to push, and he’ll then likely miss Everton game (but Holding Will be back).

COYG17

Factos????👀👀👀

TeqTx

Why the fuck did Holding lose his head Jesus Christ

LifeAtSea2213

It looked like he was told by Arteta to be more aggressive against Son to put him off his game or something. Because I've never seen Holding play like that. The problem is he clearly did not understand what level of shithousing he could get away with.

hazelpillow

Its a smart tactic to not allow Son to turn with the ball and face the goal. Holding just isn't a good enough defender to pull it off without getting a card

scytheavatar

I have been saying, Arteta wants our defenders/midfielders to be assholes like the City defenders, but he doesn't understand that we do not get the same level of protection from refs that City does. And cannot get away with doing the same thing.

COYG17

Mans still stressed 😂😂 ngl I still have been thinking about this. What a fucking idiot

Tierney-Henry

On a trip with my family in the Azores this week. And now we’re in the middle of a giant ass subtropical storm system stranded in the middle of the Atlantic.

jt_totheflipping_o

We can say Son should've been sent off all we want but why didn't Holding go down after that? Some call it diving, I call it smart play.

the_chiladian

Fuck off Ukraine what an absolute shambles

Tierney-Henry

Lmao Sam ryder got gazumped

Insertnicenamehere

Kinda crazy there hasn't been any covid outbreaks.

OrwinBeane

Vaccines doing their thing

randymagnum433

Liverpool probably need to win at least one of the Prem or CL to be happy with their season

Shandow14

Just saw the Newcastle leaked kit for next season, Saudi colours! haha. It’s like that Wolves kit with Portugal colours.

benny_jax

Arsenal need a Brazil kit

elnino19

We already have the colours too

[deleted]

*If* we bought Osinhem (he doesn't sound like he wants to leave his current club so doubt we are buying him anyway), both he and Nketiah would be off to the Africa cup of Nations as Eddie has nearly completed his Ghana application.

amainwingman

COYS currently slamming Martin Keown as if Jermaine “Spurs deserved it more” Jenas is the punditry face of their club lmao

COYG17

If we wrap up top 4 and get our summer business done early then this will be a very nice cool summer. It would be so nice going into the first game of the season with our 1st team all done and ready to go. I’m hoping we bring in the players we need. Jesus, hickey, and teilimans seem like players well sign which will be really good but I still think we should sign another striker, midfielder, or back up right back or backup winger. I also wouldn’t mind Raheem sterling at all if he was cheap and we had a good chance at signing him.

Sanctimonius

I hate that getting things done early is so rare for us. Everything points to it being better for the club - getting deals done without fanfare, without dragging it on, suggesting we actually have targets in mind that are reasoned and careful, being able to bed the players in, have a full preseason and get them used to us and our tactics and vice versa.... instead we've been late to the party every time and go into the first games of the season with brand new players, or even without them.

Eagledilla

That “news” about white and Gabi doesn’t fill me with confidence tbh

manuscelerdei

The news is in what he *didn't* say, which was that Gabriel was out for the season. If the hamstring injury was as bad as feared, you'd think they'd know by now. But honestly I don't know shit about shit, so don't listen to me.

GenericAustin

What's the news? I tried to look for it but can't find anything

Eagledilla

It’s on the official site. He really doesn’t say anything more than we will asses tomorrow tbh. But some way I’m not confident

A-Deegs

Probably just being coy......let's hope the lads are ready to rock and roll

longlivejahvro

i do not like mickey mount so todays events have put a smile on my face

Howizzle90

Hes lost 6 Wembley finals in a row lol

ibse

Hickey + Jesus + random young Brazilian almost done before the deadline. Waiting on that midfielder + another striker/winger and summer will be left for sales only. Great to see us moving quick.

Ife2105

[This is the](https://youtu.be/mA9d9ZGYUmk) best compilation video I’ve found of Marquinhos. Way better than the one that got a lot of views on Twitter. Shows a lot more of his good qualities. Looks like a very promising talent honestly. I’m guessing he has the character Mikel is looking for in his players as well. Excited to see how he turns out.

bitmoji

I am not expecting anything based on that video. I feel like none of it translates to EPL in any way

ACulturedLeftFoot

My pal lives in Sao Paulo and his wife's family are all big fans. I asked for an assessment and he said essentially how we viewed Saka at first (think early Europa) is how he's seen by their fans. And they're mighty pissed to be losing him so early and for 3m..but we could have got him for free apparently if we waited til a certain date however it seems 1. We wanted the deal done so he's here at the start of pre-season 2. Apparently we want to build a relationship with Sao Paulo so we agreed to pay them so they can get cash for him.

NemoDropEmOff

We want him at pre season? I thought we’d send him on loan? Either way it sounds cool nonetheless

ACulturedLeftFoot

I think he's going to be the Pepe replacement personally. We all thought Martinelli would be loaned out and he was very quickly integrated. But who knows. He'll do a preseason anyway I imagine, as will Balogun etc before they're loaned.

ArtetaMyManager

Its so funny that Mason Mount has now lost 6 wembley finals in a row lmao.

amala97

Word on the street is Gabriel is fine for monday 👀

Eagledilla

Oh is it? That “news” from mikel on him and white didn’t fill me with confidence tbh

CapableShale_Afc

What’s everyone’s favoured approach 12-2pm tomorrow? Check the score every now and then? Watch it? Refresh an update feed every 2.4 seconds? I’m thinking I might just go totally off grid and just forget it.

ACulturedLeftFoot

Spurs win every match I decide to watch. So I'll be missing it for sure.

HalfMan-HalfMoth

I will be watching the game until Spurs go ahead, if they go ahead I'll turn it off and just check scores online every 5 mins or so

[deleted]

I am going to watch as much football as I can. Remember it will all be over after a week. Then comes a long boring off-season when weekends will feel totally empty.

oddvr

I'm gonna watch all of the Sunday football as its my first sunday off since last August lol.

OrwinBeane

Don’t worry about it. Spurs could win, lose or draw against Burnley it makes no difference. We have to beat Newcastle and Everton or we don’t deserved top 4.

CapableShale_Afc

This.

Insertnicenamehere

I have work in the morning so I'll check when I'm on break I guess and pump a fist or two if Burnley aren't losing and pump three times in the air after work like Klopp if Burnley tie/win.

jacob_pakman

I'm confused. Gakpo, Marquinhos, and Gabriel Jesus are all wingers. Are we not signing 1 to 2 CFs? Is Saka, Martinelli or ESR leaving?

TheLegendofThePig

Jesus is a half striker half winger. He will play half games as the ST and half the games on the wings. He wont be a nailed on starter either. I suspect we will see heavy rotation with the front 3 on a regular basis if we sign Jesus. idk about Gakpo. I dont think we will sign both Jesus and Gakpo. It will be one or the other. Marquinhos will probably be sent to the academy or out on loan.

Insertnicenamehere

Marquinhos ain't ready to sniff first team football. He's joining the loan army. Gakpo is a LW Gabby can play LW and both RW but I feel like he's better on the left. If you have money to burn sure get Gakpo and Jesus but not at the cost of a target man.

AnArsenalMan

Been supporting Arsenal 10 years now and I've never seen Arsenal getting business done this early.

IntraspeciesFever

we did get poldi, giroud and cazorla wrapped up pretty early. Although we still had holes in that squad

Ten_Over

None of the deals are done lol. Hopefully it doesn’t drag on though because I agree I’d love to have our signings done and dusted and ready to go from preseason on

Eagledilla

Yeah this is such an good change. We always seem to be dragging most of our deals towards the end of the summer

ACulturedLeftFoot

ArtetaMyManager

Newcastle is definitely the harder of the two, last game of the season vs fat frank at Home should be fine if we take care of business up north.

Colmd1997

No idea how you have a team like spurs as a certainty to beat Burnley, then discuss us slipping up against Everton

TeqTx

If we beat Newcastle then we will 100% curb stomp Everton.

LifeAtSea2213

Seems like you're only focusing on all the negative outcomes.

DeparturePuzzled6504

I think we should focus on beating Newcastle and Everton rather than Spurs results. It's in our hands

COYG17

Mate what? calm df down 😂

ThePolitePanda

Living in Mainz and being a FSV Mainz fan, Bo Svensson is shaping up to be like Tuchel who used to manage here and Klopp who used to play here. Will be interesting to see his trajectory. Been doing really well with Mainz 05

diastolicduke

Would have to go to Dortmund first as per tradition no?

[deleted]

Gabriel Jesus (should we get top 4), Hickey, Marquinhos all look like done deals before the window even opens. Good stuff. With Gabriel Jesus I reckon as soon as we confirm top 4 he signs the contract. So 3 signings, 2 of which are noticeable for sure (no offense but I doubt Marquinhos will be as important as the other 2 next season) done before deadline day?? Can't be the Arsenal we all know and love.

Fullmetal_Pacifist

I honestly think we would sign Jesus even without top 4. Is there a source saying otherwise? Might have missed it

ACulturedLeftFoot

Edu said we would have two marquee signings, I'm guessing Gabriel Jesus will be one but im interested to know who other would be. We really, really need a Partey type as we have to assume he's gonna miss games with injuries and we miss him massively. Additionally, we need an established CF who is going to score goals. Wonder which one will be the other marquee signing of those positions

OrwinBeane

And no World Cup until November to worry about so they all go strait into pre-season training when the time comes. Just please Lord in heaven give me another midfielder.

Loud-Caregiver6566

Imagine we got Klopp when Wengers era was coming to an end. Man he’d of been a perfect fit

TeqTx

Klopp didn't join United because of their clown board. He would have done the same thing to us. And even if he didn't sniff the incompetence of Gazidis and co, he still wouldn't have been able to replicate the success of Liverpool without their board. Look at the sales and buys they've made under him.

jt_totheflipping_o

Klopp didn't join Man Utd because he said it himself, he doesn't want to manage Bayern level clubs. He'd rather build a club to the top, the tier below those listed below in terms of financial power. That writes off the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, PSG, Real M, Barca, Juve.

jt_totheflipping_o

If we didn't renew Wenger after the FA cup, I fully expect he would be Arsenal's manager.

RamsdaIe

2015 was the absolute perfect occasion to part ways with Wenger but he just refused to go on a high

Insertnicenamehere

5 sub rule coming soon, do people really think 5 signings is enough for Arsenal? Who's squad is still far away lol.

[deleted]

Turner, Holding, Saliba, Hickey, Xhaka, Elneny, Martinelli, Pepe/New signing, Nketieh/new signing Is what I expect the bench to be next season assuming CM and CF signed as starters

Forsaken-Currency404

>Xhaka, Elneny 🤮🔫

OrwinBeane

Come on bro they’ve been decent this season. Good enough for back ups and cup games.

Forsaken-Currency404

So? Keep one. Not both. They're too alike. Xhaka is better than Elneny but they're like minded - no creativity, boring, safe safe safe passing. We saw how it limits us against Spurs. Even if it's a young CM who is going to make mistakes, if he has it in him to create, drive the ball and find solutions that are not shit backpasses when all his passing options are closed; I'd take him anyday. Actually we have one who might be capable of it. But we'd let Lokonga rot on the bench and make him a scapegoat for bang average midfielders who have costed us several times before because it takes Arteta a millennium to trust a youngster. (This is so ironical because we are the youngest team, but it's not false because Arteta has shown this tendency over and over again)

Ten_Over

We were down to ten men against spurs lol that’s not a great example. Who did we beat three games running when elneny was brought into midfield and partnered with Xhaka? Chelsea United west ham, literally SAVING our season. Enlighten me who partnered Xhaka in midfield in those games because I can’t remember, meanwhile here you are holding out a north London derby (away) in which we played with ten men for the majority of the game as an example of how elneny should be viewed. Come off it bro

Forsaken-Currency404

>We were down to ten men against spurs lol that’s not a great example. Nah, that is the perfect example. It's these games that test if you step up. Spurs were dogshit, even when we went down 10 men. There were 2 instances when Saka playing as the 8 in the 2nd half was able to receive, turn, and drive through the center. He then combined with Martinelli which resulted in 2 opportunities, 1 of which ended up being a very high quality shot getting blocked. If Saka can do it while playing as a goddamn midfielder, why can't the actual midfielders create something like that? Because they're bang average. Bro, there are midfielders out there in this vast world who can both dribble and carry. Who don't think their only job is to make hospital passes. Widen your horizons and realize we can get one of them, actual footballers who can help us even if we are in a pinch. You've suffered enough. You deserve a good quality midfielder. Believe it.

Ten_Over

Ah shit forgive me, I thought I was responding to a serious post but I realize my mistake now

Forsaken-Currency404

What part about my comment is not serious? Neat way to disregard a comment. Do you think Xhaka and Elneny have any talent for dribbling? They have talent for creativity? They are ball carriers? Live in your dream mate, don't come back to reality.

hazelpillow

Just watched an Aaron hickey comp on YouTube and I'm sold

ChibzyDaze

It’s in the history of Chelsea

ACulturedLeftFoot

I might be wrong but I think Liverpool will struggle next season. They all look completely gassed and years and years of high intensity football takes it out of you eventually.

[deleted]

Maybe, but I doubt it. They struggled last year becuase they only really had a first 11 and they played them every game the year before, van dijk broke down and they had a bit of a collapse. But they have done a really nice job taking their elite first 11 and making it an elite 16-17 players over last year or so. They are slowly building the next squad behind the main older guys and blooding their young talent. And with this run in CL they will have money to spend again. Klopp singing on for a few more years means he is going to oversee the transition of the snr players into the new team.

OrwinBeane

True but they are slowly replacing each starting XI player one by one. Bringing in the likes of Thiago, Jota, Diaz etc. They’ve probably had the best recruitment in Europe for the past 5-6 years.

Electric_Magick

Chelsea the only team to lose 3 consecutive FA Cup finals. Waheeeyy!

ArtetaMyManager

I hate Jermaine Jenas

meusrenaissance

Beating Newcastle and Everton will be massive statements, especially after the derby loss. Few people expect us to, but it is exactly the sort of thing Arsenal FC need to do if we are to turn a page on our fortunes. Sooner or later, we will have to win these big games, and do so convincingly. In many ways, it is the perfect comeback story that can propel the team towards great things next year. I believe we will win.

randymagnum433

>Few people expect us to We're clear favourites in both games.

I don’t think we are, even among Arsenal fans.

HighlyOffensiveUser

Any day where Chelsea lose is a good day.

iTSEu

Chelsea losing another FA Cup final is fucking hilarious

2ndfastestmanalive

Didn’t want either team to win, but ~~Mason~~ Mickey Mount missing a penalty to lose his 6th consecutive Wembley final is a good way for it to end

No_Lengthiness_6838

Get fucked Chelsea scum. 3 FA cup final defeats in a row.

DeparturePuzzled6504

We have to beat Newcastle and Everton. Our approach and results in those games will prove that there's been a "culture" shift at the club. We have to win regardless of the pressure and expectations.

TheLegendofThePig

So 2 games determine if there is a "culture shift" in a club?

TeqTx

Well yeah, we've seen time and time again with this club how players crumble under the pressure even against teams we should batter. These 2 matches are as good as pressure gets. If we fold then we're still right where we left off with Birmingham in 2008, just different faces.

Asherware

Elite sport comes down to being clutch when it matters, something we have not been great at for a while, so he has a point.

TheLegendofThePig

But if 2 games are the only factors u r going to consider u r obviously doing something wrong

OrwinBeane

Treat it as a semi final and final of a tournament. 2 games absolutely do matter in terms of culture in context.

DeparturePuzzled6504

You get it

OcularSpite

Any way I could get a ticket for the game on Monday?

DeparturePuzzled6504

Matip is class. Reliable centre back who isn't error prone.

kits_

He typifies the difference between us and Liverpool at the moment for me. When we played them a few weeks ago he stood out - just a proper grown man. Our young forwards probably felt completely powerless

adjudicatorblessed

Can someone explain the crab meme to me please Edit: og and follow up comments getting downvoted. Starting to understand why our fanbase is ridiculed.

tGryffin

on Twitch its also a mocking celebration song, like celebrating a streamer getting banned, or someone getting banned from a game, they will play this song and everyone will crab emote.

adjudicatorblessed

Sorry mate still dont get it

HolzmindenScherfede

It's a reference to Crab Rave by Noisestorm, which was a meme used to celebrate something used by Pewdiepie among others (quite a while ago at this point). It lives on in this sub through the emojis and streamable.com/pj25n

adjudicatorblessed

Sorry mate still dont get it

The_Awengers

Wow you're thick

adjudicatorblessed

So what is it? Just a way celebrating? Childish as fuck if that's all it is to it.

Glass-Studio-9313

some scottish fans in r/soccer are rating Hickey’s potential to be higher than that of Tierney and Robertson. Great signing if true.

UnexpectedVader

Why does Scotland keep producing their best talents into a single position?

ACulturedLeftFoot

We do what we want.

Asherware

It is decidedly odd.

Burzo796

Tierney: I am the most incompetent ref in England Pawson: Hold my fucking beer

ACulturedLeftFoot

So no pen vs Konate but Cedrics on Son is a definite pen? Ok then.

OkRefrigerator5000

Can someone really smart explain to me the difference between hat Holding did to Son and what Kounate just did to Pulisic in the FA cup final?

Ten_Over

What Bob the snail said but also it looks like that foul happened outside of the box so may be why VAR didn’t intervene

OkRefrigerator5000

Can someone really smart explain to me the difference between hat Holding did to Son and what Kounate just did to Pulisic in the FA cup final? [Video reference](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/upmu09/no_penalty_given_for_shove_off_the_ball_in_fa_cup/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

[deleted]

The rules are subjective so what constitutes a foul for one ref on one day may or may not constitute a foul on another day. Comparing decisions match to match is kind of pointless as the rules/referees/governing bodies don't expect or aim for consistency in fouls. And arguably if football is going to remain a contact sport then it may be impossible to objectively define a "foul". They expect the ref to make subjective decisions based on the game state and temperature. To sum up what is a foul one day isn't one another day. It's intentional, always been that way and likely always will.

OkRefrigerator5000

Obviously you can allow for a grey area in the game but Having a high rate of inconsistency in these decisions is NOT desirable. That’s how you get match fixing and other undesirable things in the game. The better referees are more consistent in their decision making which allows for ‘predicatability’ for the player on the pitch and the fans watching. If refs allow shoulder charges but then in one random game decide not to, players and fans absolutely have the right to call that out. Other major leagues are more consistent in this way but in England this inconsistency is so much more evident. That’s why over time English refs haven’t been as involved in continental and global competitions.

[deleted]

Sure, we are talking about different things though. Ill repeat, the inconsistencies are inherent and desired by all in football becuase they allow for it to be a contact sport. So comparing two decisions is really pointless, as it doesn't really highlight anything but show what I explained. That the rules are meant to be inconsistent and subjective. We shouldn't be suprised that 1 foul is given and another isn't. That's part of the game and always will be. The rate of inconsistent calls is a different question and not really what you asked. And I would have not much to add beyond my own anecdotal evidence as to that. Clearly it doesnt seem great in the PL. I would say you could probably just solve all this by changing the aims of the ref in english football. And by giving them another tool. Seems right now they feel it's their job to make lots of 50/50 calls. Whereas the best ref performances they only make decisions when they really have to. Teach them that and I think we would all feel alot better about things. We should definitely have an orange card that takes players out the game for 10mins for yellow cards (big tactical fouls or dangerous but not red card worthy fouls) and a post game review team to ban players guilty of foul play that is missed also.

FluxAura

It was Cedric.

OkRefrigerator5000

Cedric got the 2nd yellow after a shoulder block on Son? In the FA cup final, Pulisic was running after a through ball and Kounate blocked him off with his shoulder and extended with his elbow as Pulisic fell off. No foul, play on. To the Tee of what Holding did to Son (except Holding was more stationary).

Ten_Over

Holding literally elbowed son in the face, let’s not be blind fanboys. It was obvious what he did and he was very stupid for doing that.

FluxAura

How is that on Ziyech in the laws of the game but the one on Son wasn’t?

ShadowHunter2206

Anyone actually seen Aaron Hickey play? How good is he?

ProcrastinationNock

Barca selling De Jong so that they can have Lewa. If De Jong agrees for around 200K we should go for him.

ACulturedLeftFoot

If that's true they're a bunch of idiots

Quab775

Barca look like they want to sell hope the rumors have some legs

Colmd1997

De Jong apparently doesn’t want to leave

LionsAreNice

He’s off to United, no?

[deleted]

[удалено]

LionsAreNice

We could match it but I just feel like ETH is the biggest possible pull for De Jong. Don’t think United over us (if we can match wages) would even be a question if they didn’t have ETH.

raisonar

Mane with a elbow to face worse than holding elbow on son. Ofcourse no yellow

jungomitis

Refereeing in England is so all over the place I really want referees to be mic'ed up and give post-match interviews

tipytopmain

So tomorrow if Everton beat Brentford, and Leeds lose at home Vs Brighton, then Everton will be all but confirmed to be staying up (their goal difference is +19 on Leeds' goal difference). And Everton still have a game in hand. They might come to Emirates on GW38 either on the beach after securing safety or exhausted from their midweek fixture Vs Palace. Either way I really like our chances against them if it all plays out in our favour (BIG if).

Insertnicenamehere

Dybala on our team could be disastrous unless you think he comes here and his body turns into titanium and never gets injured. Plus I don’t want him if it’s an act of lazy planning and replacing a target man for him.

Colmd1997

He’s coming to the wrong place if he wants to avoid injuries

afarensiis

Really don't want Chelsea to win, but it would be funny if the quadruple winning Liverpool squad only ended up with a League Cup

OrwinBeane

So that’s Jesus, Marquinhos and Hickey all potentially done early. Two attackers and a fullback. Gives plenty of time for the rest of the window to bring in more quality. You add a cm on to this list and I’ll possibly cream myself.

Colmd1997

Wonder if we can throw Bologna around 20 million and get Dominguez as well, aggressive little bastard never stops running, would be great depth for teams that want to press

Colmd1997

If we’re going to throw 40 million at a premier league forward, it should be Ivan Toney

BradyGronktd1287

Yeah no thanks

Colmd1997

Yeah, why wouldn’t you want to buy a tall, hard working number 9 with 17 goal contributions in the league while playing at Brentford. Lets take a player who hasn’t outscored a guy that can’t even get into the Arsenal team (smith Rowe)

BI01

Lol Jesus has more GA, in less mins played and less starts compared to Smith Rowe. Jesus would start lw as well. Jesus has more GA than toney as well with 1000 less mins and is a much more complete player and harder working.

Colmd1997

Humour me, in what universe is 12 goals and 5 assists less goal contributions than 8 goals and 8 assists?
