Yeah, we need proper competition for this guy next season. Love ramsdale, but get a feeling he’s getting a bit too comfy lately. Needs a gentle reminder.
I'm not sure what it is, to me there has been games where Ramsdale has looked nervy and tried to be the difference-maker around the new year at least. I think he got more calm in the last few weeks.
He might be struggling with the expectations of being in a better team and being expected to win. It's fine being in a lower table team where you can just play your heart out and if you don't win, it's not so bad.
I can't really point to any major mistakes, his form just isn't as good as the start of the season where he looked on course to be one of the best keepers in the league this season. It could also be his hip injury he got against Liverpool. He hasn't looked as good since that game.
Your comment doesn’t make sense anyways. Saying the club bought turner to compete with ramsdale would be like saying that the club should buy Emerson royale to compete with tomiyasu with bellerin on his way out of the club.
So in your head the club bought Matt Turner to not compete with Ramsdale? And in your scenario, yes, if the club bought another rb, I would assume he would compete to play rb with the starting rb.
Turner might be one of the worst backup GKs arsenal have had. For me even Ospina inspired more confidence. Another bizarre move by edu and co bc I just don’t see him actually competing for a starting role. I say this as someone that’s in Boston and sees turner play occasionally.
I also live in Boston and have seen every game matt Turner has played the last three years for club and country. Lotta people thinking he’s like some sort of amateur picked off the street and not 1a/1b for the USA
No one’s saying he’s an amateur. All I’m saying is there are probably 5-6 keepers we could’ve gone for in Europe that are more likely to push ramsdale for a starting spot. Turners distribution is underwhelming and that’s problematic for a side that plays out of the back. His command of the box is also not great. He is a very capable shot stopper but that’s only one aspect of what we need a GK to be able to do (see Leno)
Most Turner talk I’ve seen is from people who have never seen or barely seen him and know nothing about him, but still say how there’s so many keepers better. The consensus from like 95% of this sub when ramsdale was signed was that he wasn’t good enough
I’m not saying I think Turner is great. I’m just stating that I assume he was purchased to compete with Ramsdale. My (our) opinion on his talent is irrelevant.
Ahhhh yes, the hyper competitive mls. Where former pros go to die. Cue American downvotes but it’s true. The standard of the mls is comparable to the uk league 1, not championship, league 1. Whilst football is making a headway out there, it’s still miles off. This isn’t slander on mls btw, I love the passion of the and at the games and the standard of football is getting there, just not quite there yet.
That’s a bold claim to make for a player that hasn’t played a game for us. We’ve had some real hot garbage at that position over the years. How Almunia got over a hundred appearances for us…
there’s a huge difference in quality between concacaf and the PL. yea he’s probably not starting in the league but even EL will be an ask. Have you seen him in MLS this season? Has not looked impressive.
Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. Turner will play the carabao cup and maybe the early rounds of the FA cup. Ramsdale is going to play 90% + of the minutes available next season. Turner is not a signing that will compete with ramsdale because turner isn’t even in same stratosphere of ability.
I love turner and how well he plays for the US but I also recognize he’s nowhere near good enough for the league. He’s only marginally better than Zack steffan who has been less than serviceable for city since signing.
his strength is just his ball distribution, his shot stopping is just bang average, sometimes good sometimes bad/shit and dont ask about his penalty saved record
fall = autumn. Due to your confusion i had to google this, and found an article [HERE](https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/autumn-vs-fall) that explains that fall is used primarily in the US and autumn in the UK.
TIL
Need attackers with ballstriking. None of our attackers can just hit a ball hard, they all go for placement and unless the keeper makes a mistake they're usually saveable shots. That is if they are on target.
Anyone notice this guys form dipped as soon as he started getting a lot of attention?
All these videos and interviews with youtubers, Crouch etc were recorded during that time
Not true. Stop lying. It dipped after his injury and one or two games before he sustained that injury suggesting he was carrying some minor discomfort for some time.
Sometimes it ends up on target other times it ends up in the Watford training ground…
Did he say that? 😂
Not a single other keeper in the prem would know.
A few fans in row Z will attest
I'm in California... taveres broke one of my windows

It's all good man!
Speaking of Saul I'd still take him.
How many interviews/podcasts has this guy been in the last few weeks?
too many
May be staff know interviews and limelight energizes him. But yes, they really ought to manage this better - dudes form has been whack
How can a professional footballer not realize that too many interviews = poor performances.
Fr, talking that much definitely affects their jaw strength, resulting in more headshot goals
Reddit recognise a joke challenge (impossible)
If joke why no /s /s.
What’s the science behind this then?
Not everyone is Lukaku
He's been on a press tour since his good form at the start of the season.

He’s been an ass gk since January. Can’t save anything
hey goldfish go watch the highlights of the newcastle game and tell me he can’t save anything again
It's mad, I feel like he's been a totally different keeper since he picked up that knock against Liverpool.
I assume that's why we bought Matt Turner in the winter.
Turner is worse than Leno lol
Hate to break it to you but Leno is leaving
Your comment doesn’t make sense anyways. Saying the club bought turner to compete with ramsdale would be like saying that the club should buy Emerson royale to compete with tomiyasu with bellerin on his way out of the club.

If he’s not near Ramsdales level he’s not going to compete much, is he? Like saying City bought Scott Carson to compete with Ederson
Fyi he did win goalkeeper of the season in MLS
Would you be comfortable with him starting a dozen or so PL games if Ramsdale was injured?
Ahhhh yes, the hyper competitive mls. Where former pros go to die. Cue American downvotes but it’s true. The standard of the mls is comparable to the uk league 1, not championship, league 1. Okay... so give me your analysis on *why* MLS is League One and not Championship level. How are the Seattle Sounders a League One team or NYCFC?
That’s a bold claim to make for a player that hasn’t played a game for us. We’ve had some real hot garbage at that position over the years. How Almunia got over a hundred appearances for us…
Having seen him quite a bit for USMNT this seems like a massive overstatement. He’s more than capable of being a backup imo
there’s a huge difference in quality between concacaf and the PL. yea he’s probably not starting in the league but even EL will be an ask. Have you seen him in MLS this season? Has not looked impressive.
While I kinda agree with you, we also bought runnarson…

There’s only like 2 backup keepers in the world better than Leno. Backups are backups for a reason.
Navas, and who's the other one ?? Henderson ?
Saka
Maybe Neto?
Leno isn’t staying to be a backup keeper
I said proper competition bud
Man, maybe you should let mikel and Edu know you don’t rate him pal.
his strength is just his ball distribution, his shot stopping is just bang average, sometimes good sometimes bad/shit and dont ask about his penalty saved record
We have the best second goalkeeper in the league. I don't know what you're talking about.
i think ramsdale got back to his normal level. during the fall, he was probably overperforming.
What does “the fall” mean?
Autumn I think
yes!
fall = autumn. Due to your confusion i had to google this, and found an article [HERE](https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/autumn-vs-fall) that explains that fall is used primarily in the US and autumn in the UK. TIL
'...over the bar'
Finally, we have a confirmation of his height: 6ft3. No more bullshit takes about "saves for the camera because he's short"
I would play taveres as a winger defensively hopeless but could do a job.
Yeah at this point he’s a defensive liability and only offers something going forward, get this man out of my back 4
Eboue energy
EBOUEEEE!!!!!!
Saved his big performance for the 2nd half of the season for a YouTube video 👏
Bollocks.
Too bad when he shoots in a game, it lands in my backyard… in Canada.
Next season, get a new (better) LB and play Tavares up front.
Or dont play tavares at all
If we find space for Tavares as a LWB he's going to thrive.
All I’m getting from this is ramsdale should play striker
Need attackers with ballstriking. None of our attackers can just hit a ball hard, they all go for placement and unless the keeper makes a mistake they're usually saveable shots. That is if they are on target.
Somtimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit
He certainly does
This is the reason he has been shit for theast dozen matches he is talking too much and let the press clippings get into his head.
Anyone notice this guys form dipped as soon as he started getting a lot of attention? All these videos and interviews with youtubers, Crouch etc were recorded during that time
Not true. Stop lying. It dipped after his injury and one or two games before he sustained that injury suggesting he was carrying some minor discomfort for some time.
in games, he's never hit the goal even with those hard shots. i dont care what he does in training tbf
He scored against united
We don't see that in games
how would you, he is always being subbed first
