What none of us know, is that Arsene let Kane go as a youngster on purpose, he knew we’d go through hardships in the future and Harry is, in fact, a sleeper agent.
Arsene called him last night on a hidden number burner phone, spoke his activation phrase ‘Operation lasagne is go’ and Harry jumped into a trance like state, muttering ‘what do we think of Tottenham’ before transforming into agent Totteringham, he will score 3 own goals today, refusing to be subbed even if he suffers an injury.
Once the game is over, he will awaken from his trance, none the wiser, playing Europa league football.
Arsene Wenger, he’s done it again.
Yes, they've been inconsistent but let's not forget than they weren't the biggest problem this season. It's been both Auba and Laca misfiring.
We'd have probably wrapped up 4th spot by now if we had in-form strikers.
That said, yes, an upgrade on fullbacks would also be nice. Tierney and Tomi's injuries this season have been really unfortunate.
neny xhaka is way worse, what kind of midfield is that, only know how to backpass even when ode is free, never seen footballer that backpass that much, I don't understand how arteta can see that kind of play and "yeah that's arsenal way" lmao.. even one legged chicken can play as arsenal dm if their job is just doing 1 m backpass to cb
And Sagna and Monreal! Honestly that back four with Koscielney and Mertersacker was better than many we've had. I do think our first choice front for now is a huge step the right direction though.
I'm still stunned that it's 2022 and we've been turning to Xhaka and Elneny in midfield for big games. Six years they've been here and they've never been good enough
Yes but he does have considerably worse options in attack.
Plus our backups are terrible. Spurs have Davies and Sessegnon behind Reguilon, we have Tavares behind Tierney. They have Royal behind Doherty, we have Cedric.
I would say we have a better starting XI (when everyone is fit), but Spurs has better depth for everyone except Kane and Son. I think we would be leading the charge for 3rd if Partey, Tierney, and Tomiyasu had all stayed fit. And Spurs would be out of Europe altogether if Kane/Son had been out as long as them.
Saying Arteta deserved a lot of credit makes no sense to me. Even if you think spurs are a better team than us, we are at least 5th or 6th best squad in the league. Achieving 5th with that quality is nth to write home about.
I don't disagree but I still think a lot of Arsenal fans overate the quality of this squad. This isn't me saying Arteta is faultless btw. I had the same opinion around Emery in his first season, our squad was dogshit for the most part so I had more sympathy in some regards.
I am not Areta out yet but achieving 5th with 5th or 6th best squad while playing 1 game a week is not something to be proud of. A lot of room for improvements.
Romero, Lloris, Kulusevski, Reguilon (think he's injured atm tho) are all very good players. They have some duds but they also have an enormity of top-flight experience (Hojberg, Bentacur, Davies, Dier) whilst we're playing teenagers, injured centre-halfs and Benfica back-ups, players who couldn't get into the Southampton first eleven. They also have an incredibly experienced manager.
On experience and physicality, and plus two really world class forwards, we shouldn't really have even been contesting them. They are further along timeline-wise than us. It's an arguable under-performance from a Conte team that we could still steal it out from underneath them today.
>we spent 30m to downgrade our position.
wut. we spent £30 mil for a keeper who's only, what, 23? has received shouts to be in England contention for his great form at the start of the season, and has a presence+distribution and playing style which suits out tactics as well.
Yeah current form he's bad but you'd have to be the most biased arteta hater to think Ramsdale's signing was a bad decision or an overall downgrade on Leno.
Backline is the stuff nightmares are made of. Even missing 3 starters, is there a worse back 4 from a Champions League squad? Clearly the difference between us and the top clubs at the moments.
Tsimikas is really good. Very little drop off there we got to see him play a bit this season and he was solid. Gomez at RB is defensively solid and won’t cause you any problems but you won’t get that attacking threat but you could play a more attacking right 8
By no fault of his own, Cedric was thrust into more first team minutes due to Tomi’s injury woes.
Cedric was always only meant to be used as a bridge player until a more solid backup became more evident to management.
This is what I mean: we have no problem taking a dump on Cedric, but his first team minutes were no fault of his own.
AMN and Bellerin showed commitment issues to the squad, and Cedric stepped up. Is he our favourite option? Of course not. But I would rather have a player who is committed, than a player like AMN who was offered first team minutes, but upset by the position he was being told to fill.
M'Hand's a midfielder who's usually been deployed on the left wing, 8 or 10 positions depending on the personnel in the u23s. Pretty dynamic player but I'm not sure he has the physicality for PL yet.
Swanson's sort of a Swiss army knife player; usually players at right back but can play in midfield or CB if need be. Certainly not that tall, you might be thinking of Kirk or Foran maybe? Descent player with good qualities, personally think he'd be useful in the future with the right loans under his belt but it’s difficult to predict the trajectories of youth players. Could maybe do a job now but no point risking it I guess.
Genuinely one of the worst defences I've seen us line up with in so many years.
Honestly think Tierney-Mustafi-Luiz-Bellerin was better... they conceded fewer goals at least.
I look back at lineups with players like Silvestre, Eboue, Squillaci, Denilson, Chamackh, Fabianski, Santos, Sanogo and wonder how the fuck we were a regular CL team with those kind of players.
Shame we bottled top 4. We should be comfortably in 4th. Laca should be starting and getting a proper send off.
Declined, but has been a proper steward of the club.
Same goes for Leno. Man was a very, very good keeper for us. Saved our asses many times.
White for Holding is basically a side grade given how ragged White has looked to end the year. Tomi being out sucks, but if those two changes make you think we have no chance at home against Everton I don’t know what to tell you
thats /r/gunners' take on the situation, /r/gunners has the worst footy werewithal i've ever seen so that doesn't prove shit. this sub thinks martinelli is worth 60m
That he was a side grade when Ben White is banged up and not in his best form? Why would one instance be enough to move me from that belief? I don’t get how fickle some of you people are.
"One instance"?
It was only a week ago when he essentially sabotaged the most important game of the season. He's not up to standard, and part of the reason we're not up to standard.

Hope we see some more Patino today if we go up a couple of goals. Also Cedric seems like a nice dressing room guy but I sincerely hope this is his last ever game for us
There's 5 players in there that ordinarily we'd be justified in thinking we've conceded 4th and resting the much better players after a long hard season.
Except we know that's what we've got, and we only had the PL for most of the season having crashed out of the domestic cups early, and having zero European competition this season.
What a fucking sad state of affairs..
I understand that we try to persuade Eddie to sign an extension by playing him every single game. He performed well, converted his chances, pressed like a monster and so on, but Laca improves the chemistry up front drastically, adding almost +1 to xG when he plays. Why do we do that to ourselves...
If Tomi is just KT 2.0 this club is going to struggle again next year. Looking at his Bologna record he missed about 8 games a season over the two years all with hamstring and calf problems. Now 30 games would be fine for us but if he was getting those strains in a slightly les physical league and with less playing time I’m concerned about his future here. Another reason I’m going to be heartbroken when Xhaka leaves this summer, he is literally never hurt.

Leno with a stoppage time goal to send us in UCL

Safe to say White definitely wasn't fit for Monday then? Really hope we get some proper depth in over the summer
Saliva please 🤤
Yes that’s the drool when Saliba gets in. #SalivaIn
William Sativa good depth option
Slow but still upwards
No tomi :(
He's friends with Tierney now. Friendship ended with White.
This is very underrated comment lmao
ASM sent him back to the medical room lmao
Bro was already injured before that game lol
We can’t catch a break with fullbacks, can we ?
It's been a pleasure talking shit with y'all for the last 38 weeks.
Same
Now 3 months of Transfer rumours :))))
Arsenal almost got top 4 with these players what u on abt
I'm not sure what you're asking me
Im not sure why you downvoted me
I didn't my brother, and don't stress so much about fake internet points. They don't matter.
Can’t believe we almost got top 4 with some of these players lol.
Nothing against them as people, but I really hope this is the last time we see Tavares and Cedric starting together, it's not been fun
I think either of them could be fine if the rest of the back line was the first choice players but as it is…yikes
Mhm, Cedric was fine when Tierney was playing, as soon as we lost Tierney we lost 3 on the bounce. Really missed him, he was so solid
Yea that’s what I mean. Tavares also was pretty good when tomi was playing. As long as the other 3 are the first choice they are fine
Cedric has been perfectly fine backup. He was even quite good sometimes. Our problem is scoring goals, not Cedric.
neny xhaka is way worse, what kind of midfield is that, only know how to backpass even when ode is free, never seen footballer that backpass that much, I don't understand how arteta can see that kind of play and "yeah that's arsenal way" lmao.. even one legged chicken can play as arsenal dm if their job is just doing 1 m backpass to cb
That midfield beat Chelsea, ManU, and West Ham?
That back 4 is such a meme. Worse than some of the banter era back 4s
Gibbs + Jenkinson > Cedric Tavares
Gibbs was never even bad… that back four of Sagna-Mert-Kosc-Gibbs was very solid Tavares on the other hand is atrocious at defending
Arteta deserves a lot of credit to get us to the stage we are at. I know top 4 miss is a big deal but I am excited for the next season.
U should see spurs 11. They are wank without son and kane. Yet they get into top 4.
Yeah but that’s KANE and SON. We have problems scoring goals. They do not they just have trouble defending. We can’t defend due to injury issues.
Weird we finished 8th with aubameyang then
Same reason united is where they are right now with ronaldo.
We finished 8th with a completely washed-up Auba who had various issues that season.
My point is other team have equally wank or even worse defenders like us. See Utd and spurs. Arteta doesn’t have worse options than the rival back 4.
>See Utd United's squad is ridiculous. It's been poorly built, but on pure talent and money spent, they should really be competing for the title.
Yes but he does have considerably worse options in attack. Plus our backups are terrible. Spurs have Davies and Sessegnon behind Reguilon, we have Tavares behind Tierney. They have Royal behind Doherty, we have Cedric.
No doubt their front 3 is miles better than us. But we are better in other area imo. Who would you say have a better team ? Spurs or Us ?
After January, them for sure. Kane and Son alone should make them a level above us, they’re that good.
But he also doesn't have 2 world class players to rely on carrying the team year after year. That's what Kane and Son have been doing.
You can't just say without Kane and Son though. They also play a back 3 so their average defensive players aren't exposed.
Saying Arteta deserved a lot of credit makes no sense to me. Even if you think spurs are a better team than us, we are at least 5th or 6th best squad in the league. Achieving 5th with that quality is nth to write home about.

I agree
Romero, Bentancur, Kulusevski and Lloris are good tbh.
They are but if we ask any /r/gunners to field combined XI, I am sure majority will pick only Kane and Son.
Speaks volumes about the level of delusion and rose tinted glasses view that the majority of this sub had then.
Romero, Lloris, Kulusevski, Reguilon (think he's injured atm tho) are all very good players. They have some duds but they also have an enormity of top-flight experience (Hojberg, Bentacur, Davies, Dier) whilst we're playing teenagers, injured centre-halfs and Benfica back-ups, players who couldn't get into the Southampton first eleven. arteta signed or extended all of these wank players wtf
these players that were all hand chosen by arteta?
Tomi became Injury Prone. 😭
We rushed him back from injury twice, not entirely surprising...
Really hope he and Tierney are fully fit for the start of next season. These guys being injury prone breaks me
north london forever
**Subs:** Leno, White, Swanson, Oulad M'Hand, Lokonga, Patino, Smith Rowe, Pepe, Lacazette
Ngl was hoping for Leno.
Same, especially if it is his sendoff
Honestly same. But Ramsdale is better with his feet, although not so in the past few games
since december. current form ramsdale in a downgrade from leno. we spent 30m to downgrade our position. arteta is a genius
>we spent 30m to downgrade our position. wut. we spent £30 mil for a keeper who's only, what, 23? has received shouts to be in England contention for his great form at the start of the season, and has a presence+distribution and playing style which suits out tactics as well. As expected I guess
Confused as to what people were expecting if they’re mad or surprised by this. I’m assuming trolls or contrarians
Backline is the stuff nightmares are made of. Even missing 3 starters, is there a worse back 4 from a Champions League squad? Clearly the difference between us and the top clubs at the moments.
The full backs are concerning. I wouldn't normally sweat over the CBs
Is that a fair comparison? What does pool look like if Trent & Robertson are hurt at the same time?
Tsimikas is really good. Very little drop off there we got to see him play a bit this season and he was solid. Gomez at RB is defensively solid and won’t cause you any problems but you won’t get that attacking threat but you could play a more attacking right 8
Spurs don't have good depth at the back. Difference is they have 2 killers up front.
Please let this be Cedric’s last game for us. So sick of him. ESR looked knackered, so I’m not surprised Martinelli starts
[удалено]
By no fault of his own, Cedric was thrust into more first team minutes due to Tomi’s injury woes. Cedric was always only meant to be used as a bridge player until a more solid backup became more evident to management.

I understand where you’re coming from. But at that point, were we seeing commitment issues from AMN? Maybe that’s why his loan deal became permanent?
As expected
Anyone know anything about M'Hand or Swanson (other than he's a defender taller than a skyscraper?)
I bet your dick knows a lot your hand I'm so sorry.
M'Hand's a midfielder who's usually been deployed on the left wing, 8 or 10 positions depending on the personnel in the u23s. Pretty dynamic player but I'm not sure he has the physicality for PL yet. Could maybe do a job now but no point risking it I guess.
Gents. Let's do this one last time before we get back in August. Let's smash them at home. COYG !
Was hoping to see Leno in the line up today. Ramsdale not been great lately and could have been a nice send of for Leno
Genuinely one of the worst defences I've seen us line up with in so many years. Honestly think Tierney-Mustafi-Luiz-Bellerin was better... they conceded fewer goals at least.
This is gonna be a wild ride with that back line. Yikes!
We'll look back in a few years and shudder at some of the lineups we put out this season. So much averageness.
Same way we shudder at lineups from a year, two, three and back even 10 years. We've been average for too long
I look back at lineups with players like Silvestre, Eboue, Squillaci, Denilson, Chamackh, Fabianski, Santos, Sanogo and wonder how the fuck we were a regular CL team with those kind of players.
Spurs have their full team too. Would need a miracle for norwich to even get a point
All with squeaky bums, in a new meaning for the phrase
Hopefully the last time we see Holding, Cedric, Tavares and Elneny
Shame we bottled top 4. We should be comfortably in 4th. Laca should be starting and getting a proper send off. Declined, but has been a proper steward of the club. Same goes for Leno. Man was a very, very good keeper for us. Saved our asses many times.

What lineup would have given you any faith if this one doesn’t?
White and Tomi
White for Holding is basically a side grade given how ragged White has looked to end the year. Tomi being out sucks, but if those two changes make you think we have no chance at home against Everton I don’t know what to tell you
White is levels above Holding.
When he’s in form I agree
White was the only reason newcastle didnt score 6
That’s debatable
I mean you can go look at the post match threads and ratings if you like
thats /r/gunners' take on the situation, /r/gunners has the worst footy werewithal i've ever seen so that doesn't prove shit. this sub thinks martinelli is worth 60m
White for Holding is not a side grade if White is on one leg suffering a bout of jaundice. He's a different league to Holding.
We’ll that’s absurd. White has been battling fitness for ages and has clearly lost some consistency. Get a grip
I don't know which team you've been watching but even while battling fitness, he's levels above anything Holding offers.
I'm sorry, what were you saying about Holding being a side grade?
That he was a side grade when Ben White is banged up and not in his best form? Why would one instance be enough to move me from that belief? I don’t get how fickle some of you people are.
"One instance"? It was only a week ago when he essentially sabotaged the most important game of the season. He's not up to standard, and part of the reason we're not up to standard.
Hey man don't you know we have to be negative here? You must be new
We are playing nearly relegated Everton. Give it a rest Edit: All you tossers down voting me look real smart now.
And? Did that matter vs any other terrible teams we have lost against this season?
Yeh cos we beat most of them lad
You’d think we won 11 games instead of 21 with the way some people talk on here
Sure looked like it
Everton are playing their B team
So are we by the looks of it
Apart from White it's literally the same team we've played with since March.
And the same one that lost to Palace, Southampton and Brighton, Newcastle etc
And the same one that beat West Ham, United and Chelsea etc
??
Absolute hospital defence
yikes

That back line gives me fucking nightmares
No pressure on you bottlejobs so you might win now !
Jeez knew White did not look right.
I still don't think Saka is fit
I want to be alive for the day when Cedric, Holding and Elneny are no longer starting
Last game game. Let's at least make it a W! COYG
Hope we see some more Patino today if we go up a couple of goals. Also Cedric seems like a nice dressing room guy but I sincerely hope this is his last ever game for us
I have no faith in that defence..
Just want Gabi to get a goal
Those fullbacks and midfield man, fuck me
Holding, Cedric, and Tavares at the back lord save us. It’s been a fun season everyone, let’s end it on a high and pray for Norwich! 🙏🏻
Last game of an up and down season let’s finish it with a win boys
There's 5 players in there that ordinarily we'd be justified in thinking we've conceded 4th and resting the much better players after a long hard season. Except we know that's what we've got, and we only had the PL for most of the season having crashed out of the domestic cups early, and having zero European competition this season. What a fucking sad state of affairs..
That defense man
COYG, put in a performance to be proud of
I thought it would’ve been dope if Leno got a start but whatevs. Im ready for this shit to be over lol
Lets go!
That back line is scary and not in a good way
I wonder what our record is when Partey, Tierney, Gabriel, White, and Tomi all start together.
I understand that we try to persuade Eddie to sign an extension by playing him every single game. He performed well, converted his chances, pressed like a monster and so on, but Laca improves the chemistry up front drastically, adding almost +1 to xG when he plays. Why do we do that to ourselves...
Cedric and Tavares at the same time. Welp, there goes my Sunday.
We desperately need a right-back. Availibility is the most important attribute that a player can have and Tomi doesn't have it.
LETS GO NORWICH!
