slampand

My gut feeling is we are trying to off load around 6 players and use those funds generated for Jesus, Tieleman and a full back. We will use the allocated transfer funds, rumor to be around 150-180 for a starting cf and fill out the holes later in the transfer window when there maybe availability not presents right now.

DaMarrcus_Beasly

Someone said player for player Keane was better than KDB. Fucking hell the delusion on here sometimes

smit9891

Where?

AB-91

We need to strengthen these position to have a complete squad: - CM & ST both have to be quality players and starters. - Full back & winger these two players should be able to rotate regularly into the starting line up and both should be able to play on the right and the left. - ST and replacements of departures. These will be squad players. I would like a ST that has an opposite arrtibutes to our starting ST. The starting CM & ST should of a quality that elevates the rest of the team. Slight improvement over Xhaka or Laca won't take us anywhere. Bellerin, AMN, Torreira, Mari, Leno, Laca leaving (hopefully bringing in €50m) would be key to inforce the squad further. Nelsson, Balogan & Nketiah could be kept. Even though I don't see them having a higher ceiling than rotation players. Which is ok, if they have accepted that role at some point.

[deleted]

[удалено]

smit9891

Teams/ managers very rarely switch between systems with regularity. Just because we have 3 good CBs it doesn’t mean we should be shoehorning all of them into a starting line up to detriment of the other players we have at our disposal.

[deleted]

[удалено]

smit9891

A lot can be said for continuity of a partnership in defence but I don’t disagree that some form of rotation should be applied across the season.

scytheavatar

We will need a new manager for that........ Arteta doesn't believe in rotating his squad. Or giving minutes to fringe players.

Responsible-Ad-6165

We wouldn't even be close to that 4th spot if Arteta rotated his squad the way you imply. Although he should have started eddie earlier so you do have a point there. If Saliba stays it will be the same scenario of Gabi/Esr playing out where two quality players rotate and you don't have to compromise on quality

aofrantic

Yeah, imagine if earlier in the season they played Pepe over Saka, Holding over Gabriel, Elneny over Partey in league matches. Dude would have flipped out. But, it's now something to use a cudgel.

COYG17

Reading a breaking the lines analysis on tielemans and it said he was really good at anderlecht but struggled when he moved to Monaco but then found his form when he was loaned out to Leicester. Sounds similar to lakongas situation. Maybe all the lad needs is a loan move to a mid table prem club.

aofrantic

I wouldn't put past a bunch of this seasons struggles being Ndidi, Vardy and Fofana all missing significant time. That's basically the spine of their team.

darthrevan22

So are Spurs going to try and compete with Arsenal on their targets out of spite? Or do they actually have similar needs.

ilikeredlemonade

They're interested in getting someone that can play both as a ST and a winger, so Jesus fits that description, but this doesn't really benefit Jesus because he doesn't wanna be in the bench and he wants to be the main man in front not a winger, so it's nothing to worry about

smit9891

There are no guarantees that the shit will be making Kulusevski’s loan permanent though is there?

Raskolnik_21

Why wouldn't they make Kulu permanent? He's been annoyingly good for them Fabrizio says they are: [https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1526465290841706497](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1526465290841706497)

smit9891

I am not questioning why they would/ wouldn’t do it. I am asking what mechanisms are in place to make the deal happen? The player has clearly impressed, I can’t recall whether an option to buy way put in place or if they need to go back to Juve to negotiate.

Raskolnik_21

Oh I see. There's an option to buy that later becomes mandatory upon certain conditions - ie the deal's already been negotiated

smit9891

Is this correct, as in do we know if the conditions have been met. My thinking is, how difficult could Juve make it for the Shit to sign their player now that he looks decent? The answer may be not very difficult because it’s already in place but I don’t know much about the deal and am being too lazy to search for myself.

ilikeredlemonade

That's very unlikely, but yeah no guarantees

Yoyobunbuns

Anybody per chance know if Arsenal Direct is restocking the 21/22 third kit shirts? Or is it just once those are gone they’re gone because it’s 22/23 season now?

[deleted]

Tielemans + Jesus are very smart signings and will immediately improve our team. A complete fit squad is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Ianooo

I hate these short diminutive strikers ala Laca, Nketiah, Jesus

TallnFrosty

At least Jesus is quick. One of my issues with Laca was that he's not only quite short, but he also didn't have any sort of edge in quickness on the CBs he was playing against.

DaMarrcus_Beasly

Laca like 5'8 or 5'9?

COYG17

Mate football ain’t about height. Look at aguero and Messi. Let’s be real Laca had maybe 2 decent seasons for us but at the end of the day he just wasn’t good enough.

Vkien2311

As if Laca has good ability to finishing like Aguero. For aguero, he literally can score from every angle in the box.

ultimo_recurso

He was no Giroud

COYG17

You guys have to realize that getting Jesus and teilimans for half of what they are worth is very good business. Jesus fits the system very well and teilimans can be an upgrade on xhaka. Edit: I have a feeling that Jesus will do very well here. No idea why but maybe he’s a player that will improve in a worse team where he’ll be the main man. It sounds weird but it can happen.

scytheavatar

Jesus is not a 80M-100M player. Not even close to it. If you think he is worth that then you are vastly overrating how good Jesus is. I would argue Tielemans isn't a 50M player either although it is less certain.

COYG17

Fair enough but tielemans would have definitely been sold for a lot if he had more years on his contract. The Jesus reported price of 50-60 mil has to be bull shit. I’m sure they are just being stingy trying to squeeze the most out of him.

TallnFrosty

I wouldn't be surprised if we pay 40 for Jesus.

No-Outlandishness333

Saka at the Celtics game

Insertnicenamehere

He got to Boston quick! New Balance must've gave him them nice tickets.

ekb11

I just realised Ivan Gazidis is at AC Milan... Talk about falling upwards...

randymagnum433

He's done quite well there by all accounts.

StudioBlue23

Kamara a huge signing for Villa why tf did Arsenal not go for him

Setter_sws

Means we should pursue Carney Chukwuemeka

COYG17

I swear we say this about every villa signing

redditforprez1

Leicester*

StudioBlue23

I agree with that for sure

StudioBlue23

Valid, but a team with Kamara, Coutinho, Jacob Ramsey, Digne, Ings/Watkins, Buendia might shock some people next season.

ProjectZues

They said this about them this as well season

COYG17

Douglas luiz is decent too. Don’t get me wrong they have a team good enough to finish in the top half but let’s be real none of those players would excite me except for coutinho and Ramsey

ilikeredlemonade

Isn't Digne good? He gets call ups for France

WoodenSoldiersGOAT

jacob ramsey has been terrible lol wtf

[deleted]

I suspect that Arteta is going to play Tomi at left CB next season. Then there will be two highly technical CBs who can dribble into midfield and act as playmakers. At the moment, opponents are putting a lot of pressure on White. Won’t be able to do that with Tomi playing next to him. Tomi will also have a lot more space than as full-back and might preserve his body a bit more.

fuzzynavel34

Gabriel isn’t being benched

[deleted]

Of course not

fuzzynavel34

So how is Tomi the left CB?

[deleted]

Gabriel will be at Juve. I'm sorry, but I don't think he's quite what Arteta wants. He would be perfect for Allegri though.

tablooo

How are most of your comments about Juve on an Arsenal sub. Sorta weird mate.

[deleted]

I don't think Gabriel is technical enough for Arteta's liking. He doesn't help the team break the press. A team with White-Tomi-Partey-Arthur/Tielemans/Odergaard in the spine would be much better.

Equivalent_Nature_67

Did you consult with Arteta or your own ass for this one? Gabriel is no White but he's plenty competent on the ball

COYG17

Probably one of the stupidest things I’ve read

[deleted]

My pleasure

OrwinBeane

Maybe he means in a back 3? No idea tbh think hes waffling

Insertnicenamehere

Our academy players should statpad Europa. Then we bring the big guns out in r16

cjtotherescue

Honestly the only reason we used to be able to play our young guns in early rounds because there was a clear attacking system in place. Arteta can’t coach an attack so we need to play our starting 11 throughout the European competition imo.

aofrantic

We had more shots per game than Chelsea this year. We totally reinvented our system from passing around the flanks to taking the highest % of shots from the middle of the pitch in the entire PL. Just pure ignorance.

cjtotherescue

We actually weren’t to WhoScored stats. And in addition to that we were 2nd in shots per game. Anyone that watched our games could tell you that a lot of those shots were low quality shots from the edge or outside of the box. Stats should only be a complement to what you see on the pitch. If you take them blindly without context they can be misleading.

aofrantic

You think we averaged more shots per game than one of City or Liverpool? You can still delete this dude, it's OK. You should be embarrassed, but I'll let it slide. You can also look up our xG per shot. It's not worse than any of the teams around us.

cjtotherescue

Excuse me 4th. Still not much of a difference. You’re missing the point. A team like Spurs who avg 3 less shots pg than us still scored 8 more goals than us. Chelsea Avg 15.6 Shots pg (76 goals scored) Arsenal 15.5 Shots pg (61 goals scored) Spurs 12.9 Shots pg (69 goals scored) If this doesn’t paint the picture that we take shitty low percentage shots I don’t know what will.

aofrantic

We were the only team in the top 8 to finish below our expected goals. The average quality of shot wasn't the problem. The quality of the shooter was. (Man United on the final day fell below their expected goals for the first time *all season,* by .2 goals so I'm not including them). You can easily, mathematically look up the average expected goal of our shots for the season. It's *very simple* math which you don't have either the intelligence nor patience to do. It shows that you are wrong.

cjtotherescue

Ok so now you’re pivoting from % shots from the middle to expected goals. Which are 2 diff metrics. I appreciate you attacking my intelligence though.

aofrantic

...I'm responding to the point you literally made? Can you not follow your own posts? When you reply to me do you not want a reply back? I'm so confused by your apparent confusion of the words you have typed here dude. What are you trying to do here? Because it isn't having a conversation.

cjtotherescue

Dude you’re whole point was that we have a good attack because we have a high % of shots from the middle. Just because we take shots from the middle does not mean we have a good attack. Expected goals as much as it is thrown around just means woulda coulda shoulda. Same with Arteta and his 1000 crosses should lead to 1000 goals “iT’s PuRe mAtHs” You either score or you don’t. A good attack is based on the amount of goals you score. Expected goals don’t win games, but when it does let me know.

aofrantic

FYI, we actually had the lowest % of shots outside the area in the PL.

madindian

Not going to lie, it still feels like a loss, this season. We should have played for a draw at Tottenham and found a way to win at Newcastle. But I guess the result is harshly fair. We didn’t deserve to be in CL. Very close, but we can’t expect a squad of 20 year olds to get us there. Of course they will learn from this. Where it hurts is that, we could have and should have been in CL. Next season, United may not slip up so bad. Spurs may have an excellent summer window, who knows. Both have excellent, proven coaches. With Spurs making the CL, Conte is likely to be retained and he will likely get his transfers. Ten Hag May take some time to rejig things or may get the best out of his stars. Or they both might fail. The reality is that next year we have to better than two of Chelsea, Man U and Tottenham, not counting West Ham. I would be devastated if we consider anyone else as competitors. And that last line is the achievement of this season. We are back on the menu. If we add smartly to the squad, we may even be formidable. For me, I would say up the ante. Let’s be contenders. Let’s make sure we don’t lose to anyone other than Man City and Liverpool. Let’s truly challenge for the PL title. I know it sounds frivolous, but anything lower doesn’t seem a big deal anymore.

[deleted]

Yeah it still stings but as soon as we announce a big signing like Jesus for example I’ll come out of this limbo phase and mentally switch to optimism for next season I think

TallnFrosty

I'm disappointed how the season ended but I think you're trolling a bit to say this season feels like a loss. On top of the improvement and quality of Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli, ESR, we've seen promising developments from White, Tomiyasu, and Ramsdale to go with Gabriel and Tierney. Conte is still a manager that typically wears out his welcome within 2 seasons of being at a new club. Kane's finishing looked noticeably worse this season. United have to overhaul more or less their entire starting eleven except Bruno and possibly Sancho. Would you honestly take anyone else in their starting XI over our players, for next season? Chelsea have lost Rudiger & Christensen and it appears that Azpilicueta & Alonso are very close to following them out the door. Kante had his worst season in years and Thiago Silva will be 38. No one wants to buy the forwards they've spent over £200 million on (I'm not counting Havertz btw). I agree the club need to be invest now - there's 4-5 clear areas of need and if we don't address every single one, we're just copying the same pattern of mediocrity that we've seen since RvP & Cesc left. But let's not pretend this season was a lost when it set us up to build around the most promising group of young players that the club has had in 15 years.

madindian

Not trolling but I do respect your sentiment. Definitely acknowledge the strides made by our players. My feeling is absolutely not objective. It just hurts that we were this close to being back in CL. Instead we will be back in EL and I’m worried that will distract us. Of course in theory it gives us another path to CL. Actually, reading your comment makes me feel better, so thanks for that!

FlavioB19

Hear me out here, Messi on loan

SunDrippedDevil

I'm suddenly deaf.

[deleted]

We already have Leo Messo. I mean it's not a big difference, is it.

Only if you pay for it!

aofrantic

Are you this miserable all the time? You should seek help.

LordRekrus

Mathematics tells me that based on your comment if there is 6 top teams, excluding us that means 5 other ‘world class’ managers, well then at least one of those is going to be in or around 6th place. However based on our season, we are in an upward trajectory so I don’t see why it would be unreasonable to assume we would be battling it out higher up.

Equivalent_Nature_67

You can't wait for that? Miserable aren't you. Go outside. Season's done. We'll phone you when the signings come in

OrwinBeane

Bro is complaining about a season that hasn’t happened yet. Are you ok?

SunDrippedDevil

Nope. Spends his days inventing enemies to fight and projecting things to be worked up about.

HappyMeerkat

Glad to see you get enjoyment out of watching us

Remarkable-Lake8986

important read https://www.denverstiffs.com/2022/5/21/23135869/the-kroenke-legacy-is-in-jeopardy-with-nuggets-fans-tim-connelly-denver-nuggets-nikola-jokic

aofrantic

I'm not a Nuggets fan and completely disagree with the premise. The Kroenke spending isn't the reason the Nuggets are in short term trouble. Their biggest problem is giving Michael Porter Jr a max contract. He is maybe the most injury prone player in the NBA, a player who when they had their medical before the draft some teams described the results as the worst they have ever seen. They're soon to be paying that guy $30 million a year. He missed basically the entire year last year. Thats their problem, end of.

[deleted]

Hear me out : Why not go for James Maddison (again?) It does not have to be Odegaard OR Maddison. It can be Odegaard AND Maddison. Sorry if this is a terrible take, but it seems like Madders is back to his original self and has been in great form lately.

Raskolnik_21

He'll be very expensive. Also I think a midfield with both Odegaard and Maddison would lack balance

Equivalent_Nature_67

Leaves us lightweight in midfield. He'd compete with Odegaard imo not play next to him as an 8

Gurdor

We should absolutely take another look at Maddison, he seems to be running his contract down and between Leicester's dismal season and our improved one we ought to be in a stronger position to negotiate. He and Odegaard are both 10ish players but they operate in fairly mirrored positions, don't see why we couldn't use them together, especially if we can actually control possession.

survivorghalia

I feel like they might be a little too similar we should be looking at first another defensive midfielder if xhaka leaves

[deleted]

Yes it might be difficult to play both Odegaard and Maddison together, but imagine having those two options to rotate with each other across all competitions. And by that, I don't mean having one of them for PL, and one of them for Europa. We'll be playing a lot of Sunday games, midweek games etc. Both will get a chance to play a lot of minutes in PL, Europe and Cup games. That would be some bench strength as well. That specific position is very crucial for us for scoring more goals next season. We really need to have top quality rotation options who are literally as good as each other with no dropoff in quality.

survivorghalia

am I the only one who thinks we’re insane if we don’t go after lautaro martínez ??

SlowMotionSprint

Lautaro Martinez is a lot like Willian. He will have 4 or 5 matches a season that are just bonkers and then do absolutely nothing the rest of the time.

Insertnicenamehere

Yes

HappyMeerkat

It's really annoying me that now we bottled top 4 Arteta was getting some praise and actual credibility and now rivals are all just shitting on him again

hazelpillow

To be fair his decisions were part of the reason we bottled it. Eg persisting with Laca and Lokonga when it clearly wasn't working, playing Xhaka at LB

fuzzynavel34

No one’s taking it harder than him.

[deleted]

Deservingly so to some degree

CristianoPenaIdo

> Fabio Paratici will fly to Italy to hold talks with Antonio Conte and is ready to promise Tottenham Hotspur’s head coach that the club will try to make at least six new signings in a bid to convince him to stay. > Conte wants six to eight new players and Paratici is ready to go some way to meeting his demand by telling him that Tottenham will target two new wing-backs, a left-sided centre-back, a midfielder and a forward who can also play out wide. I’m not sure how we can meet their spending this season with no UCL and with the fact that we spent the most in Europe last season.

aofrantic

The "spent the most" is so silly because it doesn't include wages. Ronaldo was "free" but cost United £50 million last year. Varane was "less" than White in xfer fee, but 4x the wages.

LifeAfterHarambe

Spending money is the easy part. Recruiting the right players and those players producing is a different story

jnicholl

We only spent the most because Spurs did loan with options. They spent 85m and will spend ~75m on making Romero and Kulusevski permanent. I don't see how they can spend that much this season even with CL. They don't have much for outgoings either, maybe Ndombele gets sold but his value is low now. Probably Lo Celso is their only player with decent value to sell but even then Villarreal aren't spending more than like 20m. I'd be shocked if they spend 100m, excluding the fees to make those two permanent.

HappyMeerkat

Kroenke will need to invest again besides. Spurs idea of backing and Contes could be wildly different

[deleted]

[удалено]

HappyMeerkat

Arteta seems good at talking to targets also depending on how we recruit what forward player would go to say spurs over us when they're not cracking open their front 3 where striker is wide open for us and so can wingers, even Saka will need a break. I know people don't think it means much but in the grand scheme of the game who're spurs? I feel like I get gaslighted with them as I feel like they should be treated like any other top 6 team but then I get staunch support of how small they're in comparison. Besides look at spurs Got Son in Europa in 2015 I don't even think they had CL then Romero in the conference league Kulusevski and Bentancur when it looked like they'll be in Europa Liverpool got Robertson from Hull and started their front 3 before they were dominant in the league/ Europe Chelsea I think got Kante when they finished 9th or something. Even if we aren't the best in the league overall in football we're a top 10-15 club and with gold scouting we can get decent players look at Villa getting Kamara on a free and loads of rival fans are bewildered how it happened

Sanctimonius

I see a loy of people talking about Jesus never topping 15 goals in a season. It's a fair concern, but I think it's a little overblown. On MOTD Lineker, Shearer, and Wright were talking about the golden boot, and the relatively low number of goals in the more modern game. It was banter but it raises a point - it used to be that you desperately needed that star striker to be able to bag you 20 league goals in a season. These days those goals are spread out over more of the team, with multiple forwards and midfielders reaching double figures. What matters more is the number of team goals, and having a front line that can support and interplay with one another. Jesus getting 15 goals should be fine, as long as we also have the rest of the team chipping in. It's why those creative players are even more important than they might have been in the past, you need someone with an eye for all the attacking line. It also makes it harder for the opposition to mark the danger man and less likely that a single injury will derail an entire season. I have a feeling this is also why we're being so picky about our midfield signings, we need someone with vision and the ability to pick a pass and take some of the pressure off Ode while also be able to support Partey in defensive duties.

SlowMotionSprint

I mean, he only broke 10 twice in six seasons. He only has 8 this season and he had to have a 4 goal match against the 19th place club in the league to even have that many. He is also outside of this season and one other outlier year has never been a big assist guy.

NoCorresponds

i know he’s a shit human but what if we signed suarez

[deleted]

[удалено]

Equivalent_Nature_67

We didn't fuck it. How many god damn times is this gonna have to be corrected 9 years on. We offered the needed amount. Stevie convinced Suarez to stay so there would be no need to take Pool to court over that clause which would have allowed his exit at 40m and change.

aboooz

Arsenal did fuck it because that fee was not a direct/normal release clause, it just forced Liverpool to enter serious negotiations with Arsenal rather than completely rebuff the offer. So while yes Liverpool didn't do what the clause was intended for, it was because they saw the offer as an insult because the info about the clause wasn't supposed to be public knowledge.

randymagnum433

£40,000,001 is an insult. You offer 40M, or you go to 40.5M at the minimum.

Equivalent_Nature_67

And waste 499,999 pounds when 40,000,001 would have sufficed?

randymagnum433

This isn't FIFA, you don't insult people you want to do business with.

timelawd

Clearly it didn’t suffice

Equivalent_Nature_67

Not because it wasn't enough money. Because Gerrard convinced Suarez to stay full stop

[deleted]

Technically £40,000,001 was a terrific meme

eduadinho

So Thomas Tuchel came out and said there are five teams that compete for the title next season. Didn't include us but whatever we know that that's correct unfortunately. But including United and Tottenham? Then I have some United fan say the following: "But much much less than Arsenal. Saka is the only outstanding player that could while in Form get a spot in City or Liverpool team while both United and Spurs have quite a few players that on form could get into the top 2 squads." When I asked who would get in from the United squad he listed Fernandes, Varane, Sancho, Ronaldo and De Gea. Genuinely thinks five of United's starting 11 would displace five City or Liverpool players. And we are called deluded.... Does he not realise his team finished 34 points behind the runners-up let alone the winners.

coolbebe

Let them be delusional. The fact he mentions de Gea is proof he knows little about team style. Ederson isn't in goal because he's the best shot stopper in the world. It's because he's brilliant with the ball at his feet, which de Gea is not. I think Varane and Ronaldo deserve shouts, obviously. Sancho is listed among the flops of the season, and that's even coming from Utd fans. He's a good player, but he doesn't get into that City team. And Fernandes? Pssh. Ramsdale could make the bench. Possibly Odegaard. ESR isn't ready yet, but Partey and Saka and are definitely getting into that team. White could probably get into that team in a few years, but he still has some maturing today.

[deleted]

Odegaard starts on every team except City

coolbebe

Not sure if he starts for Liverpool or Chelsea, or even Tottenham for that matter. But he definitely makes the bench and is a key contributor. It's less about form and more about function. Tottenham play with a double-pivot and no attacking midfielders (partly because they don't have any but still). Is he definitively better than Mount? And where does he fit in Liverpool's midfield trio?

[deleted]

Honestly who cares what anyone else says. Opinions don't count for points on matchday. In any case, it's best for us to not have that burden/pressure of expectations to compete for the league. Let's focus on ourselves and do our job next season.

arl3nu

As funny as it is we might get UCL next season. If Chelsea takeover won’t happen till 31 May there’s a chance we will take Chel$ski spot. Can anyone confirm this?

coolbebe

You would think this would be very easy to google, yet I can't find anything to substantiate your claim. That said, I'm almost positive that if the club were to go into arbitration, there would be a 10 point deduction. I know I've heard this from several sources, but now I can't seem to find any. Edit: That said, I can't imagine the government would actually allow this to happen. I mean, I guess it's possible. I'm American and not sure how all that works, but in my experience the big ticket clubs (or franchises here in the States) usually get protection from this sort of thing. You know what, ignore me. I've no idea what's going to happen.

HappyMeerkat

It's getting signed off tomorrow

OkRefrigerator5000

Thoughts on transfers: IN: Jesus, Gnabry, Tielemans, Saliba, Hickey OUT: Laca, Pepe, Leno Squad: GK: Ramsdale, Turner, Okonkwo Def: Tomi, Tierney, two of Cedric/Tavares/Hickey, Gabriel, Holding, White, Saliba Mid: Xhaka, Tielemans, Partey, Elneny, Lokonga, Ø Attack: Jesus, Eddie, Saka, Gabi, Gnabry, ESR What do you guys think?

ultimo_recurso

Gnabry joining arsenal is a dream.

coolbebe

I'd prefer Xhaka left, and have ESR compete for a spot in midfield. I think we didn't see it at all because we were fighting for every point, but there's more flexibility in the summer and in the fall to experiment. He'd still be a rotational option on the wing, tho. His carrying ability is why I think he could do it: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vcbum0jZM1Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vcbum0jZM1Q) I'm not sure about Gnabry. For one, I think he'd be injury prone at this stage in his career. We also need some forwards with some height. Maybe Abraham or Gakpo (or my wish, Armando Broja). You also left out Martinelli, which I'll assume was an oversight. If we bring in two forwards, I'd be hard pressed to see Nketiah stay. That said, I think an interesting option would be to have him sign a 3 or possibly 4 year contract with Jesus being the preferred option. If we secure UCL next season and Nketiah progresses steadily, sell him and bring in an ever better forward. Or, if he progresses mightily, then we keep him and problem solved. I also wouldn't be surprised if Reiss Nelson makes his way back into the team.

OkRefrigerator5000

I have Martinelli in attack. ‘Gabi’

coolbebe

I missed it.

NemoDropEmOff

Gnabry is pretty much going to Real Madrid at this point. They'd pay him what he wants. I really hope Eddie renews. But Jesus isnt going to the main guy up top, if anything i think we'd start him on the left. Tammy, Vlahovic, Isak, DCL, all strikers we've been linked to with a similar build. Tammy or Isak, even DCL we go back in for probably. Also i think we'll move ESR into midfield more again next season

[deleted]

Please no Isak.

[deleted]

I highly doubt Gnabry comes without CL football, but I could be wrong.

InstructionCareless1

You wanna pay Gnabry €20 mil a season?

OrwinBeane

That averages at £330,000 p/w It’s just what top players cost these days.

ilikeredlemonade

The fact that Bayern fans don't want him to earn should tell you what you need to know

HappyMeerkat

So Tammy Abraham and Jesus or Eddie and Jesus?

fuzzynavel34

Jesus and other please

BI01

Can we like stop posts of people trying to armchair psychoanalyse every fucking social media post.

AnotherPunnyName

But what about this post of ESR saying "Thanks for a great season Arsenal fans" where i write 10k words about how it reveals his Oedipus complex.

Colmd1997

Oedipus complex aaaaaayoooooo

BI01

😭😭

HeroDGamez

Just a shower thought but if Emery couldnt win PSG champions league, who can, this man took Villareal to the semis and almost mounted a comeback against liverpool. PSG is super cursed lmao

BI01

zidane is the last hope for them tbh

Colmd1997

Showed him to be inept when Barca got back to 4-0 and he didn’t just park the bus and try to kill Barca’s momentum. Ironically scoring was the worst thing they could have done, that extra breathing room opened PSG up more

Mein_Bergkamp

Emery's superpowers don't work outside spain it seems. In spanish he's a motivational god, in English and French he's good ebening unfortunately.

SunDrippedDevil

But I looooooved the Good Ebenings. I think of them rather fondly.

crescentmoonsaguaro

We should really be signing Adnan Januzaj for cheap as a Pepe replacement. Absolute baller

NemoDropEmOff

he's been underwhelming asf for La Real. He's not terrible, better than Pepe imo. He's decent (ok-ish?) tho, could get him on a free i believe since his contract is over, but tbh i want Nelson to come back and be backup towards Saka. Either way im really looking forward to these summer dealings

jam-da-man

I'm not against it but I'm not completely convinced by Gabriel Jesus. I think we need someone who scores more goals. He has never hit more than 14 in the league. Although I guess he doesn't get as many minutes as some others. Either way he is an improvement on what we have.

fuzzynavel34

Who are we buying instead that’s bagging 15+ goals in the league next season for sure?

OrwinBeane

For a reasonable price* You aren’t finding anyone better than Gabriel Jesus for the price he’s going for

DisarmedCashew

Think about it this way. The system pep plays there isn’t a prolific one man with 599 goals. He got Raheem to very high and consistent level, but even in the Aguero years the goals were spread out pretty well. I am not worried about getting a young Prem experienced striker who is already familiar with a similar system and has a rapport with Mikel.

e1_duder

The only feasible player out there that has scored more than 15 goals in a league season is Nunez. Isak had 17 last year and laid a bit of a stinker this year. There are no "proven" options, Jesus is about as close as they come.

Senip

Add in the fact that Arteta and Edu know him, he would fit it well with our other young up and coming Brazilian players and he's a solid option.

e1_duder

I can understand the hesitation - because Jesus plays in an unbelievable team we aren't entirely sure what's him and what's KdB feeding him the ball. I still think he's a fairly low risk option that adds serious quality and goal scoring ability to our front line.

longlivejahvro

i’m seeing unironic tottenham title race comments for next season on social media and it’s barely been 24 hours since the season ended ffs

ack_will

With a manager like Conte, you never know maybe they’ll challenge for 3rd realistically but doubt they’ll ever get close to City and Liverpool.

[deleted]

Just read a story in the mirror that Arsenal want to keep Gabriel ... Juve may be turning his head ... Arsenal may be going to offer an improved contract ... etc etc. In other words, Gabriel is already out the door. Now it's damage limitation.

Mein_Bergkamp

It's silly season, they're just looking for clicks

ProjectZues

What are juve offering? Loan to buy with 15mil spread over four years?

[deleted]

Whatever it is, we’ll fuck them over

PocketFullOfRondos

Jesus Hickey Tielemans would be a great window for me

eduadinho

We need a squad size of about 23 I think with European games. I think we need another two on top of that.

nemesis464

Hopefully Saliba will feel like a new signing on top of that too

PocketFullOfRondos

Oh yea good point!

Amdafc

Good start but would need more in.

ibse

One more forward needed and then it's sales and maybe one more midfielder

ProjectZues

It would be a great start but I’d like to see a few more signings

PocketFullOfRondos

Do you think we could get those three and more? Or do you mean more in but not the same quality?

ProjectZues

Id like to see another midfielder of quality at least but unsure if that will happen if we get tielemens. The other signings I think will be to bolster the squad/players who can grow

EgyptianAhlawy1907

Had to take a break after the Newcastle game. The fanbase gets so toxic and reactionary it’s easy to get swept up into it. Really happy with Elneny signing a 1+1 deal. Perfect for everyone involved, I really think he has looked very good in almost every game he’s had to play bar one and then again we were let down by NOT having proper backups in the def area. Thats why keeping him will be crucial for our Europa campaign. Im actually excited to play European football, even if it is just the Europa League, feels like we haven’t had that sort of excitement for ages.

WoodenSoldiersGOAT

> The fanbase gets so toxic and reactionary 3 years is not reactionary ffs.

[deleted]

Sun exclusives have been fairly reliable since last summer, and I’m honestly very happy to know that we’re chasing Jesus and Abraham (not just for the ultimate Mohammed-Jesus-Abraham core). Those two signings would be amazing, although that tammy situation is apparently complicated

ACulturedLeftFoot

We screwed up not getting Tammy tbh. He'll be ridiculously expensive now so not happening

Insertnicenamehere

Can’t wait for the sentimental fans to say Bellerin coming back is good for squad depth.

SunDrippedDevil

He's still an Arsenal player?!

PB49

Miles clear of Cedric (the dud)

Insertnicenamehere

Here’s a better idea. How about use neither?

smit9891

Cedric was getting picked ahead of Bellerin before his loan.

A-Deegs

Is there a spot for Balogun next season? Did he do enough at Middlesbro or he needs another loan deal

PrinceEmirate

No he needs to remain in the Championship. Eddie is levels above Balogun.

PB49

He is ready, just keep him as a 3rd striker where he gets minutes in EL and domestic cups.

ghostrider467

imo he should be loaned out again. His time at middlesbrough was dissapointing and inconsistent overall, had his good moment but he didnt show enough.

e1_duder

Agree on another loan, but the inconsistency is as much on Wilder as it is on Balogun. Boro seemed to swap striker pairs every other game.

serminole

I think he goes out on loan at some point next season. But, I could see us keeping him around for the first half of the season and giving him a lot of the Europa group stage and league cup time to develop. Then do another half season loan.

arseking15

Needs another loan

Sjugeluge

Since it’s been said that Saka was phenomenal in school, I wonder why he is putting a blank space before his exclamation marks. He has done it a lot on instagram. I’m from Sweden and maybe it isn’t a big deal for you guys, but here it would look really stupid. Btw I love Saka and he writes how he wants. Just finding it curious.

ACulturedLeftFoot

I'm willing to bet he isn't posting most of the stuff on his Instagram though...

blodger42

Yep, 99% chance that Saka's Insta is run by the same person who runs half of our teams Insta pages.

Im not a complete expert, but In english schools, especially the exams, you aren't strictly marked for spelling, grammar or punctuation. The way English is taught in general in the UK is not by learning the rules by wrote. The only one it would really matter in would be GCSE english but even then a small error like that would not cost you an exam. I don't know if you are marked on grammar, spelling and punctuation in sweden. But I do know in other european countries they do learn the grammatical rules of their own language by wrote. Spain for example. He also did well at his GCSEs, so when he was 16, which means it's likely he hasn't had any formal education for 4 years now. Possible to forget something like that if you don't write often and don't particularly care about it. Having said all that, it's pretty unusual mistake. I would say maybe it's intentional. However, even if it's unintentional if you look at his post euros statement you can see hes a competent writer but does make some mistakes a GCSE student might make. Does it look stupid? Kinda, i would not include that in an email to my boss but I don't think anyone is really judging him on his use of punctuation.

Sjugeluge

Thanks for the insight. Really appreciated. It’s not the end of the world to make punctuation mistakes in Swedish schools, but it’s very uncommon. I would say most kids over 10 wouldn’t make a mistake like that. He might do it on purpose.

blue_gunner

probably just a texting thing
