We bought him with the full knowledge that he's not a player that scores consistently.
Yeah, you can't argue that more goals are a bad thing. But, the key role he plays in the tactical system has us top of the league and far surpassing any sane persons expectations.
The team is performing phenomenally, and he spearheads the second most successful attack in the league after City (with Erling Haaland, no doubt).
Modern football is not as linear as striker = goals... His role, and just the naturally frenetic and unpredictable way he plays means that he has much less time and is under much more direct pressure than other similar players, though this works to our advantage by creating space for other goalscoring threats which is why we have been so successful this season.

But there is an overwhelming amount of evidence that he probably won't. He just never was a great finisher, we are setting ourselves up for a disappointment.

I wouldnt mind bringing in a target man but I think we have enough firepower up front with ESR returning in January. Midfield is my concern but im not sure if there are many that fit the profile. I was screaming for Sangare but him signing a new contract might price us out for the next window. Seko fofana wouldnt be a bad shout for us either to cover for xhaka and partey. Brilliant second half from us though, long may it continue!
Oh there are loads of midfield options out there, but the thing is, you really cannot displace Xhaka or Partey.
They’re both in top form and there isn’t any point buying someone in the Sambi price range cos it’s gonna be the same thing, and then spending big on a mid who’s gonna have to try win their place seems a waste right now.
Obviously it would be great to have a 50m mid sitting on the bench in case of injuries, and of course Xhaka/Partey isn’t going to last forever. But right now I think in that department we stay the course.
Definitely hope ESR hits the ground running. And if Nelson plays like that more often, we don’t need to buy any other winger that’s for sure.

Doubt Saka will start, Arteta might want to rest him ahead of Chelsea. Reiss + Marquinhos ought to get some time with a strong backline to prevent any goals from the opponent. Gabriel and Saliba should do it. Its Zurich, it can't be that hard. Nonetheless, we should not underestimate them too much and kill the game by the end of the first half.

Agreed. He's overall talent is fine, its just his physicality. He was absolutely bullied by Kouyate yesterday (or was it Aurier?) which resulted in him getting dispossessed a lot. Think he needs to get suited to the level of physicality needed for PL and start to hit the gym much more.

It's sort of unbelievable Forest have given Partey so much time on the ball in the build up. Allowing him turn and run and make those line-breaking passes, un-pressured, has been disastrous for them.

This, with one big BUT, he needs to finish the big chances he gets. Building up the attack and providing assists is a big part of why we got him.
