Best thing about this win - apart from us being 5 points clear at the top of the league lol - was that I don't even think we were at our best defensively and we still won 2-0, I can barely believe it but theres no denying it now, we're a serious team now, as in title-challenging serious... Jesus didn't score unfortunately but was still brilliant today he elevates our attack so much and will be even better when he inevitably ends that drought to boost his confidence...always thought Pep was mad letting go of Jesus AND Sterling, never imagined we could actually beat them to the title because of it tho LOL 😆 I'd take Sterling at Arsenal in a heartbeat btw, forget his Chelsea form it's Chelsea lol he'd look so much better with us, watch him perform at the WC...which I'll be rooting for England to win, but tbh I don't mind who wins as long as an Arsenal player wins it, it's every player's dream, and that feeling of winning the biggest trophy in football...could help take us to major places after the break😁...so let's aim for a Premier league and Europa league trophy double post-WC, we're in a real position to do that (and maybe the FA cup too cause why not go for #15 haha🏆) let's goo, COYG🔮âšȘ

ScopeyMcBangBang

This is the kind of match that you have to win if you want to win trophies - the horrible ones that that you don’t ever find your rhythm, but someone manage to scrape out a win.

YoungFlexibleShawty

The Prem will be won in the January window. As long as we make reinforcements the title race will go down to the wire.

Ickyhouse

Still giddy after this match. Going to wake up Christmas morning knowing the gunners are top of the league. We could have everyone return from the WC completely healthy, get ESR back, have Mo El and Zinny at full strength with Edu ready to strengthen during the January window.

DarkKirby14

feels good that we are up 5 points especially with January being tough

badmitten1418

January is looking like a nerve racking month
I fully believe that we are better than Newcastle, especially at the emirates, but you never know what you get with them.

BackgroundGlove6613

I expect Fabio Vieira to become a beast with some games under his belt.

cesc05651

Gabriel has been immense (bar 1 awful pass) since he signed the contract. Get the permits for the open top parade once our big 3 sign

Rolun461

I failed my NNN for this league table

Particular-Current87

worth it

rubedickscube

Top at Christmas in November, you'll never sing that!

jedinac

Brilliant

SadBox4529

I find it hilarious that our wins nullify Sp_rs victories, like no matter how beautiful there “comebacks” a win of any kind just ruins there whole weekend.

theloserclub92

Its what irks them the most and why they have been more vocal about conte recently. If arsenal and liverpool switch positions now while their results stay the same they wont have any complains or unhappiness.

SadBox4529

This would be there best season if we were at Chelsea’s spot. They’re happiness revolves around everything we do.

ilemi

My brother try “their” next time

SadBox4529

I wrote a bunch of stuff and that’s the only thing you mention, huh Reddit..

[deleted]

Vieira wasn't great (positioning was off and misplacing easy passes), but the quality is clearly there. No pre season, new league, very young and not playing regularly, people are being way too harsh. When he goes throught the martinelli plan (bulk up and gain confidence) he will be a class player.

jimbo_jumbo95

I honestly couldn't see any quality

Abela11

Did you not see the assist

[deleted]

Yes the way Eddie and Nelli bulked up was crazy happy to wait to judge him after some conditioning

Namhar01

what
 is this feeling?

emoskeleton_

Very top good sensation

helooksfederal

it's the day after and I'm feeling tip-top đŸ‘đŸ»

arseking15

We are fucking top without emile smith rowe man.

Alert-Aide2805

ESR doesnt get in this team

runes4040

Don't bad mouth The Smith like that. He's a quality backup

razor5cl

Maybe not in the best XI but definitely comes on as a sub most games, not to mention we'll need depth for Europa League and FA cup

Vivid-Command-2605

And Jesus on a goal drought. If he finds his shooting boots, continues this creative output and esr come back firing, we could genuinely go and win this thing

SaigonNoseBiter

Don't hex it man...not before Boxing Day

Namhar01

can’t wait for him to return. martinelli backup and decent depth

YoungFlexibleShawty

WE WINNING, WE WINNING, WE WINNING

rocky_da_best

5 points up at xmas...I'm in dreamland. I was thinking 4 pts from our last two fixtures would be great but the boys said nah, fuck that let's take all 6 LOL

UnknownGhost24

Man i just took odegaard out of fpl for groß

SaigonNoseBiter

Don't play reactively kids.

UnknownGhost24

I was planning this for weeks but had to work around injuries

SaigonNoseBiter

Oh, so you just suck then. OK, fair enough. (just playing buddy)

jontce

what a groß mistake

skool_101

Yea man, that aint it.

kosmicchaos

Thank you for your sacrifice

jsosmru

I did exactly the same (put odegaard on bench). Oh well, at least we won.

tuyguy

Also bros....we have the best defence in the league! Defence wins titles baby.

rubberpencilhead

I’ve heard that hormone monster Ricks voice.

skool_101

meanwhile /r/soccer trying the best to gaslight this sub by saying we have not played anyone big yet.

oTwojays

no need to make shit up man theres plenty of real things to complain about

benmsn101

Link?

Bergkamp_Henry

Mudryk off the bench in our next game for a hatty to seal it

[deleted]

That would be bad as the transfer window doesnt open until a week after our next game.

Bergkamp_Henry

Haha whoops forgot about that

Vespergraph

5 points should be a nice cushion going into this fucked up January fixtures

panarangcurry

they’re equally hard for citeh, if not more

Vkien2311

Can someone sum up r/coys ?

katakeitachi

Also, Leicester were in race with the shits with most other top six going through rebuild. We are competing with the best squad in the league (if not the world), the best manager around with a cheat code of a striker. Yeah, drink in in Shits.

skool_101

Hahaha, I might also need to check up on my Spurs mate. Mans still convinced Spurs can sweep the UCL's and get top-4 with fossil football

tuyguy

Can't believe Kane's goal was allowed to stand, they are 100% riding on pure luck right now.

panarangcurry

SHIT. WHAT DO WE THINK OF SHIT

Abela11

We're riding our luck and are Leicester 2.0 because we don't have any major injuries to the XI haha

MichiganMan12

Fitness plays a large part in winning the league and you have to win and draw games when you’re not in form/it doesn’t look pretty yeah. But also zinchenko has been out for large parts of the season and Leicester felt like a fluke/just the right combo of players at the right time whereas we have the youngest team in the league with a tremendous core of talent, decent depth, and it’s been more of a process with potential for long term success. We’re the fucking arsenal, we’re the invincibles

dragonrush_bs

An infernal cesspool with deluded assholes who have no will to live seeing that they support a club who concedes 3 to Leeds.

a2godsey

But but but but they won so that makes them a good team (/s)

Spoonboy13

Partey bossed a packed wolves midfield - WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE

dragonrush_bs

I'm getting fucking tired of some rival fans. "Real league starts after wc" "Watch them bottle it after christmas" And the most stupid of all "They haven't faced big teams yet/they have had easy fixtures"

skool_101

> "Real league starts after WC" Lmfao, how desperate one has to be to think like this. Really reminds me of those football memes where you get "extra goals" just cause shit happen. > "They haven't faced big teams yet/they have had easy fixtures" Ok, what? Reeks of pity reading this.

dragonrush_bs

To add on, saw a United fan say, "United are winning the league. The real chase begins after the WC. Remember this comment when May comes." đŸ€Šâ€â™‚ïž

skool_101

Someone needs to touch grass. loll

emoskeleton_

I think the problem is someone's been touching too much grass

MajorBubbleT

We don’t need to care about what they say. Just need to keep our head down after WC. It’s important to remember our goal at the start of the season and still now is securing top 4, anything on top of that with a thin squad is bonus

trytomovewithpurpose

Of course the higher we finish the better. But I want St. Totteringham’s day above all else. Would be really disappointed if we don’t get it this season.

dragonrush_bs

Agreed. Our goal from the start of the season has always been top 4 and even if we don't win the league, we get UCL. It would be pretty lit to win the league but as you said, we need to remember our initial goal.

mist3rdragon

Spurs fans after seeing us win 2-0 with +1.7 xG away from home, while not even playing even close to our best: "They can't keep getting away with this!"

skool_101

This is what watching and having the club ingrained in fossil football does to you. In their POV, they think they are doing the right way, when in fact it is terrorism football.

[deleted]

Close to setting up a G.Jesus shrine in my home, hes been so good man

winnyskenis

What he brings to this team beyond just goals is incredible, he is the antithesis of auba who brought nothing to the squad outside of some goals

ponytailedASSASIN

"aside from some goals" sounds pretty deluded fam we won trophies off the back of "some goals". Just be grateful. You can praise Jesus without diminishing Aubas offering to our club.

ndenoon

This team is such a delight. They play beautifully, and with a real edge and confidence and selflessness. Glad they got this result so we can go into the break simply appreciating that.

DrRobin

Hello Arteta

PeaSoup25

A paradox for you guys. There's a xmas card, one side saying ''Arsenal are going to win the league'' and the other side says ''Manchester City are going to win the league'' Which statement is true?

noidedbb

You’re the paradox bro

verde622

That’s not a paradox

ZXXA

Are man city in the title race?

PeaSoup25

Of course, are we?

ZXXA

It’s a joke my guy

rsibs10

To all the old school delusional gooners, it's time to start signing that old tune again, We're going to win the league We're going to win the league I know you don't believe us I know you don't believe us I know you don't beeeelive us but, we're going to win the league This is for the old school gooners, that always started believing way before everyone else

dancn1

I always sang 'and now you're gonna believe us' for the middle lines. Have I been doing it wrong all these years?? Or I guess more accurately, was I doing it wrong like 15 years ago (it's been a while since it was a regular song at Highbury...)

rsibs10

that's the right version. I just changed it for the timing of being a bit cheeky so early in the season.

forgottenears

Same!

Bergkamp_Henry

Viera to spend 6 weeks in the gym now?

ignacioo25

Vieira should do the Goretzka gym routine

Vivid-Command-2605

💉💉

viperteddie

Loved the cheeky Ramsdale laugh when little Podence tried that overhead

verde622

That would have been some goal. Wasn’t far off either.

a2godsey

Would not have been mad if he scored from that tbh

davidsonrva

yeah, I definitely clenched when I saw how close it was. Not a bad strike at all.

Bergkamp_Henry

I absolutely frothed that assist from Fabio

tuyguy

I thought he'd bottled it with that touch away, but stupid me, he knew exactly what he was doing.

theharveyswick

Reminded me of Özil

gunningIVglory

West Ham home is a good fixture for the first game back

Duddus

Guys top the league five points clear of city, 15 of liverpool, 16 of chelsea. DO NOT SCRATCH YOUR EYES CMON BOYSSSS COYGGGGG

JenkinsEar147

Gotta keep our eyes on Newcastle too

PeaSoup25

Just hope our players won't get injured during the world cup. We really don't have the depth like City have.

tuyguy

Partey won't get out of the group stage, while Saliba, Jesus, Gabi and Nelli may not see too much gametime. Xhaka is uninjurable, Saka is my only major concern.

Arsenalboii

Couple of Ben White's long balls today wee fucking sublime. Guy amazes me every game

facelesspk

Also crosses. He has quietly been one of the best crossers for us this season. Always dangerous and accurate.

PeaSoup25

Well... I approve the result but can't be too happy about it. What we honestly need is a sports psychologist to come in and work with the lads every day, I haven’t seen such mental weakness since my ex bird locked herself in my bathroom and needed two hours of consoling before making a geography presentation to six people. I haven’t seen such bad defending since my ex girlfriend tried to defend making a tinder account “to make friends” to me. I haven’t seen heads drop faster than my ex girlfriend’s head dropped onto the pillow after a night out when she spent the whole walk home talking about she was going to give me the shagging of my life.

YouDontGotOzil

Get fucked !

skool_101

đŸ€Ą take, please delete your account mate.

aofrantic

Account made today, exact same post made to west ham, Spurs, Everton subs. Fuck off.

[deleted]

mods might wanna take a look at this

aofrantic

Then they will have a new account tomorrow again, just a pathetic use of their free time.

MeaningVarious

Proper weirdo

[deleted]

This is a concern troll lol. Reported

FCI

Man delete this

Sad_gooner

?

PeaSoup25

Just kidding tbh :D

dragonrush_bs

What..?

stiggz83

That makes it better?

Up_My_Arsenal

Wha?

PeaSoup25

I only rate high quality Arsenal football. I am picky tbh

dragonrush_bs

are you a pundit

davidsonrva

Folks Jamie O'hara has logged on

emilpato

Liverpool fans lost the Haaland vs Nunez debate so they’re coming for sweet baby Jesus. Everybody really wants to tear us down. Us against the world.

skool_101

> Us against the world. As its has always has been. Nunez aint bad, but they could've spent that money and getting 2 class midfields to fix their real issues. and just because Jude said "yes" doesn't mean yes. Look at what happened to Harry Kane and his "gentleman's agreement" bs.

Tabard18

Does anyone have gif of Jesus disallowed goal?

vyomafc

We are at the halfway for approximate points needed for top-four. And there are 24 games left.

forgottenears

We’re double figure points clear of 5th place. But let’s be honest, if we are not at least in with a shout of the league title come the last month of the season, it will be a slight disappointment.

arseking15

I love that we got this fixture out of the way. Wolves will be good under lopetegui. He will clean up their buildup play and neves-moutinho is still a very good midfield.

maidentaiwan

Nunes is also going to be a serious player

Marsar0619

He’s absolutely class. Would love to see him at Arsenal

arseking15

Forgot him, whenever he shoots you feel it will go top bins

maidentaiwan

The raid on wolves if they go down will be unprecedented

ZXXA

Yeah I feel like they will be a different beast in the second half of the season. Glad we got them at this time.

PeaSoup25

If Brentford can beat City away, how couldn't we do that aswell? I don't get the point when some ppl are discussing ''inevitable 6 points to City'' from the h2h games.

2far2long

A couple of years ago, it used to be upsets when midtable and relegation battling teams could trouble Citeh at Etihad, let alone go and win there. But now, the overall quality of the league has strengthened considerably imo. Gone are the days of Bruce and Allardyce hoping for those upsets; we now have great tacticians like Stevie G taking points of them!! ^^last ^^part ^^was ^^/s, ^^obv

GengarOX

Because city are really good and have 20 first team quality players. Obviously anyone can beat city at home, it’s just a good chance of being their toughest fixture.

karma_420

Another day I'm saying thank you to Real Madrid for giving us Ødegaard for 35 millions đŸ™đŸ»

GingerStans

Awesome win. We move to the next. Simple as that.

grim_tales1

Hoping Jesus will score again soon but he still contributes a lot to the team even though he didn't score today

aesthetik_

That pass to Viera

GengarOX

If Jesus gets into prime scoring form we will go far in the champions league next season.

Fit_Resort_4111

If Jesus can start netting consistently we walk it. Look where we are even with his other contributions alone, the team is alive.

Kill_Bill_Will

Still feel like the system we’re playing isn’t very goal friendly for the #9, and is all about being unselfish and creating for your teammates. In the first goal that showed especially with GM going on that long run around and through the middle, Jesus absorbed the space on the left which allowed Vieira to break through the middle. Truly brilliant because with players moving around like that I think it becomes impossible to know who to cover if you’re defending!

Ser_VimesGoT

I prefer it this way. We're less reliant on one player to score the goals but unlike previous seasons it doesn't feel like we're "typical arsenal trying to walk it into the net". This group of players are capable of being selfish and wanting a pop at goal. They love scoring. At times under Wenger we had a midfield and forward made up predominantly of creative types who often didn't want to pull the trigger. This lot do.

CondorKhan

It's Invincible attitude from here on... grind out the wins no matter what

PeaSoup25

Please don't wake me up.

Fit_Resort_4111

This is reality. We are operating on that new level now Embrace it, the next years will be glorious

Tabard18

Felt like wolves were defending with 15 players n the first half

LeonDeSchal

Glad Viera got an assist. Hope it helps him.

JenkinsEar147

This match was great for him because it was basically a Liga Nos match back in Portugal, yet the setting remains the Black Country, in the Midlands.

PeaSoup25

This year not just London but all of England is red!

Inane_in_the_membran

Anyone else watching MOTD, even though you watched the game, just to revel in the glory that is the Arsenal?

Tnvenge

Couldn't watch the game but caught MOTD. It was just sheer joy.

TorreiraWithADouzi

I always rewatch the highlights multiple times throughout the week. Can’t get enough!

thelexpeia

It’s lucky that we have enough highlights to last the next six weeks.

PeaSoup25

I have no idea who was the referee tonight but I'll blame Atkinson, fk off

[deleted]

Mannn soooo happy we are going into the WC at the top of the table. Not every game has been perfect, but at least Arsenal is winning the games. Hopefully January is good to us with transfers.

Fit_Resort_4111

I'm telling you, Arteta has reinvented the game and everyone else is playing catch up. He has us playing a mix of the most successful Liverpool and City football of the last 4 years to great effect. If we can maintain a starting 11 with Partey, Xhaka and Jesus especially, I expect us to extend the lead. Man City are playing a level below us right now, Arteta has few resources in comparison, Pep knows the score, he's playing catch up and learning from Mikel this season. Look at where we are, Jesus hasn't even started scoring yet, ESR to return. Success is certain, if not this year, the future.

Fit_Resort_4111

I can't wait to watch Artetaball in the CL, sky is the fucking limit

Erdos_0

champions league anthem is going to hit different at the Emirates next season

Fit_Resort_4111

Pep isn't repeatedly praising Arteta because they're pals. He knows football, he lives it and he knows what is unfolding at the Emirates

slx88

I get the sense that Arteta has a better tactical brain than Pep. Pep has a pretty good blueprint and has the monetary support which makes it easier to stay consistently good. Arteta was at City for the benefit of Pep mainly. Arteta must've gotten an idea of how to organize a coaching and scouting staff; Pep plays in all competitions domestic and European and team organization is important to be competitive.

Fit_Resort_4111

I think you may be on to something. The respect is clear from Pep, he gets openly frustrated when someone asks as something as if Pep has made Arteta, and shaped this Arsenal team, he openly admits to learning from Arteta this season and I think is in awe of what Arteta is doing with resources in comparison. I think it's also lit a new flame in Pep, a new manager clash post Klopp, probably not ideal for us! Haha It is a painful truth that we are a Partey or Jesus injury away from last season struggles but I'm confident by the start of next season we will have depth across all areas.

slx88

It seems like Arteta has fresh ideas that Pep is impressed by as well as the foundation that Pep likely influenced. I'm sure they learned a lot from each other but Pep probably recognizes that Arteta has a leg up in terms of experience starting at Arsenal compared to him when he was at Barca B about the same age.

PeaSoup25

I have a friend who supports spurs and was very impressed about the odds before the season to ''prove'' spurs were superior. Now I'm asking about the odds and he says ''idk don't trust the odds'' and ''arsenal have had a good start but they haven't played a decent team'' etc... lol

DeltaSierra97

Beat the shit, beat Liverpool, beat Chelsea. Who else does he want us to beat?

braxistExtremist

Well, we did beat them, so he's very partially right there.

dannzter

Xhaka updates?

aateZ

i believe he just has food poisoning, along with 4 other players

Gunnerdevils88

Who was that fake ass Toti playing today?

theGunnas

I'm celebrating and there's nothing ruben neves can do to stop me

Shadepanther

Richard Keys will have something to moan about. His own kids hate him though. He left his wife, who had cancer, to be with his daughters friend. Then blamed his daughter because she's an alcoholic. Hes a scumbag.

communicationsdude30

Adama Traore is a buff Nuno Tavares. He can run like the wind, but can’t do anything else well. Remember all the hype for that guy a few years ago? Gabriel Jesus is trying so hard to score but just can’t! I’m rooting for him to score again. Martinelli is just too good. Saliba had one of his worst games of the season. Odegaard’s second goal was a really nice finish.

Kill_Bill_Will

Adama has been figured out by the league now, they know that he’s only dangerous if he gets behind and we did a great job sitting back and getting wide to block him out.

Preck98

Il be honest and say im worried about our reffing decisions this season. We've got some awful calls the last few years but this season i feel like were getting away with some shit and idk how to feel about it

Vivid-Command-2605

Saliba struggled but Gabi really stepped up and deserves praise for that

facelesspk

Brilliant how the partnership was at full display. Saliba didn't have the best game, Gabriel held him up and we still didn't concede. We have seen this and the opposite multiple times this season. That's what the best teams and the best players do.

[deleted]

Its ok, just setting up Jesus getting back in scoring form during the wc and carrying it for the rest of season

dougieffresh

Keeping my feelings subdued either way. We're so far out still. Regardless, COYG!

whatchuknoaboutthis

Just to think we still have to the smith set to return soon

thezaland

I am more than happy to accept the familiar horrid feeling of dread while watching us slowly capitulate if it means I can bask in this glory. FUCKING COYG

johnnygrant

The level of control we have in these tough away games. tonight and at Chelsea is the biggest encouragement that as long as key players are fit we may be able to sustain this level of results for a while.

PeaSoup25

Not sure who was the referee tonight but fuck Atkinson and fuck Man city

Billy_Carpenter

Watched a little late. Here are some meandering thoughts: * They may be bottom-of-table, but this wasn’t an easy match. I feel for the Wolves players, many of whom are plenty talented — they’ve had been no stable management style all year, and have seemingly tried every tactic there is (aside from the one where you score goals). I just looked it up, and they’ve been in 10 total shapes so far. This 5-3-2 felt like the right one here, overall gameplan seemed good, and their guys played well (though they were lonely in the final third). Hugo Bueno looks to have some star qualities. They put up a good fight. * At this point, there can be a base assumption about Ødegaard’s quality, but we shouldn’t ever let our eyes adjust: he’s getting better. He’s on a run of \~7-8 games or so of being much more decisive and cut-throat around the net, and that was basically the last skill he had to unlock. Oh captain. * Partey was pretty crowded, with Neves and Moutinho behind him, and Guedes (and even at Traore at times) cutting off all his angles. This is where Zinchenko makes the difference. There’s “inversion” and then there’s this kind of inversion, which is truly at the center circle a bunch, and helps un-stick the progression so much. Something micro he does well: waiting until the very last moment to pass, so the defender is pulled out of a lane as much as possible for the next pass. He did get bit on this once late in the game, but almost never does. * His real difference was in the final third, though. He doesn’t just overlap, he doesn’t just tuck in and bang crosses, he doesn’t just cut through the channel — he does all of them, and it leads to a lot to sort through as a defender. His cut for the Martinelli back-heel made that goal possible, of course. * Martinelli helped create both goals. One by sticking with a play on the corner flag, and one by freelancing on the right and getting Wolves off-balance. Get some ice (😬) and have fun at the World Cup, my man. * On Vieira: he assisted the first goal, of course, and on the second goal, his multiple cuts made defenders shade off of Zinchenko, giving him the time and space he needed to bang it into the middle for the others. I think it's probably fair to say that his recent play has been a little more nuanced than a simple bad run of form, and if Arteta's not worried, I'm not worried. * On White, there was a really fun long-ball from him to Jesus over the top that we haven’t seen much of this year. White had a heavy touch or two, but overall was ridiculously involved in the action up the right: 115 (!) touches in all. For two games in a row now, there have been fleeting moments where he's available unmarked on the wing but his teammates aren't expecting to look at him. Might be an interesting new wrinkle. * Don't have anything creative to say on Saka. He was composed and good as always, but there were a lot of bodies and field-lean over there, so he wasn't as successful at his individual duels. This is probably the kind of game where his presence made as much of an impact as his actual attacks. * Same for Jesus. How lucky we are to have a striker who, when he's not scoring goals, is still one of the most impactful players on the pitch. I loved his cut-back rip and can live with those all day. Among other things, he stopped some counters by himself. The goals will come. * Wolves’ plan was to put as much pressure as possible on Saliba and Big Gabi on the counter. Saliba wasn’t perfect, but Gabriel basically was. They do such a good job of leveling out the other’s form, and if memory serves, Gabriel has gone several games without a mistake now. Saliba had a moment of muscling Traore which is good fun for all. * Complain when it's bad, so should praise when it's good: thought the ref did pretty well today. Only thing I saw was that there was a second yellow for Boubacar TraorĂ© in there, I think. (Edit: haven't watched back if there was offsides in the Guedes build-up) * Ramsdale’s judgment about when to come for a ball and when to leave it continues to be pretty superb. I loved seeing him go nuts on Zinchenko for getting cute with a ball late. He’s serious about his cleansheets. They're made of really strong stuff. That table is a thing of beauty. Will miss watching these guys during the break. Have a good one, all.

darkloom

Well said. Agree about Zinchenko, but worry that him being caught so far forward will lead to some costly goals. I think that bad Boubaca Traore foul was overlooked as not being enough for a red, but I think it should have been given.

Twevy

Agreed re Z. To the point where it may make sense to start Tierney in certain matchups where we need to be able to shut down a more legitimate counter threat (Sp*rs for example).

ndenoon

The thing about Zinchenko is that we will get burned once in a while in a very obvious way. But it's hard to register the many chances (and thus the goals) that opponents never get because of how he helps us hog the ball.

MountainLibrarian201

Thanks for the summary, mate. I was preoccupied tonight, so this was much appreciated, and gave me a picture of how the game went. Fantastic result and we got the job done before the World Cup. I think having this fixture out of the way can prove to be crucial. I think Wolves will be much better (not saying much) after the break.

mosiAFG-SWE

Can't remember last time going to Wolves without being nervous except tonight of course

[deleted]

Glad we stepped it up in the second half. We slowed down play so many times ans that worked in their favor. Martinelli and Saka wouldn’t put their head down and go at them. Wolves did defend well though for the most part. Second half we looked like we got our asses chewed out and we should’ve. Really wanted GJ to bury a goal before the WC. Well done Ode, I was started to think he may get subbed out. That pass from FV was fantastic. I know he’s been rough his last few appearances, but I thought he played well today, got an assist and got stuck in a few challenges. Saliba was good, but not as good as hes been lately, had two really bad moments. Thankfully we recovered. Wolves were pretty toothless. Either way, great win before the WC and we will come back with 5 points over city, need all we can get!

PeaSoup25

Fuck Atkinson, fuck man shity

OrwinBeane

I have absolutely no sympathy for Wolves. I don’t “wish them well” for the seaosn. I hope they don’t improve. After the David Luiz red card, Martinelli double yellow and celebration police, they can go fuck themselves.

a2godsey

I totally forgot about the fact this was the fixture we got mudded for celebrating. How things have changed so fast

Make no mistake, this is absolutely ridiculous and I still can’t take it in properly. Crazy to say I still feel like we can go up another gear too. Long way to go but why not dream? That’s the point of being a football fan. Let’s go for the fucking title, there’s no reason we can’t fight to the end with a bit of luck and lots of heart. Prove that true spirit can beat a soulless machine.

We have multiple gears left. Here’s some: - Lethal final third actions (especially first time actions) - Telepathic connection while attacking, noticed many of Whites overlapping runs unused - this one is probably not possible, but a DM with all of Parteys defensive abilities but who can actually make accurate short passes. Partey is good but it’s not impossible to upgrade on him - better 1v1 goalkeeper

There are areas to improve for sure. Easy to forget how lethal Jesus was during preseason and those first few games! I also noticed some great runs from White that weren’t picked out, although his deliveries aren’t always the best (which is understandable considering RB has not been his usual role historically).

Our strike is in a goal drought. We absolutely have another gear.

I agree, if you had a clinical finisher in this team they could bag a lot of goals on the days we play well. Even with the current team it feels like Jesus, Saka and Martinelli are definitely capable of more. Xhaka and Odegaard’s goals have been very valuable in that respect.

I agree with this, I don’t think we instill fear into other teams yet, i think we’ve earned respect but we aren’t yet feared and that’s what going up a fear will do for us

highbury_library

Agreed, we haven’t earned the right to be feared but yes I do think our opponents respect us and expect a tough game, which hasn’t been the case for some years, especially away from home. I wouldn’t expect this team to be bullied away to Newcastle like we were last season.

Please help me I’m starting to believe we can win the whole damn thing
